I dont want a cab or rom or anything like that...
Just someone to locate the FM radio files in his device, save them to his computer...and send them here...It's very simple...u just need a HTC S740 and a PC...nothing else...
If anyone could help I would be realy greatfull.
the files are located in windows folder... it's FMradio.exe...
I'm not asking something so hard...help me please
If you'd write why you want them we'd have a motivation. I don't like helping a stranger without knowing what it's for. You know that, if you deleted them or something, you can do a hard reset (start - all programs - more - accessories - clear storage), and all the programs are there again. By the way, you can't access the Windows Folder with a PC, so it's not something that much easy to ask. HTC doesn't offer quick support in that case, so I feel guilty to help other Rose-owners out and perhaps more than one of you can use the files.
The .zip contains these files:
FMRadio.exe
FMRadio.exe.0407.mui
FMRadio.exe.0409.mui
FMRadio.exe.040C.mui
FMRadio.exe.0410.mui
FMRadio.exe.0415.mui
FMRadio.exe.041F.mui
FMRadio.Ink
I hope I'm doing nothing illegal, delete the post if I do so
€: Dude why did you doublepost that, it's not going any faster, people that are willing to help don't only check one subforum. BTW "I WANT the FM radio files..." dude, you can't dictate us. Also this is not a chat, please write properly next time.
i just love you! let me try them now if u could tell me the exact directory of each file that would be very helpful.
Sorry I didn't mention it earlier...My aim is just to make a radio.cab for the S743 (us version) which has no radio software installed.
I made it work guys.
I have made a new post.

Tried to make a copy of my ROM to SD Card. Dialog Box shows it copying but after completing in 6mins or so nothing shows on the card. I want to back up prior to copying XDA ROM and unlocking. Any advice would be appreciated.
well
you dont really need to save it on your sd card. You can just back it up in a file on your pc. click the browse button beside the combo box(ie the button with 3 dots) and select a name and a path. it would transfer the os to your pc and u can keep the back up there where its safer.
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I've already tried that and I just get an error message - Unsupported target filetype - don't know how to write destinationfile c:\Program Files\etc...
well
okay this is what you'll do :: put this line in the destination "c:\rom\os.nb1"; for the source select the combo box then select from device and it should work. if it doesnt then reply me asap.
Thanks again but unfortunately entering c:\rom\os.nb1 in the destination dialog didn't work. It returned: error opening c:\rom\os.nb1 for writing. The system cannot find the path specified. error opening target device.
Well
PS. Should also add I didn't quite understand your reference to "for the source select the combo box then select from device and it should work. if it doesnt then reply me asap

check the image i just sent u. ull see what i asked you to click for the source.(Device Memory (current rom))
then for the destination clikc the 3 dots on its side and type in a name eg os.nb1 and lcick open. :!: :?:
Cool
Thanks, man. It looks like that's done the trick. It's currently copying. Once that's done I believe I need to load the XDA ROM to facilitate the unlock. Many thanks for your help.
David
no probs men. but i need to unlock some 2 more phones an am having a hell of a time. my bros samsung e700 and my dads hp6315. do u by any chance know how i can get that done
I wish I could reciprocate but unfortunately I don't know much about my Wallaby let alone those you've mentioned. I've just downloaded the XDA ROM and my device is not accepting it. Reading stuff on the forum to try to figure out what the problem is. Don't want to take away from your other problems with the Samsung and HP but let me know if you've heard of any problems as to why a device won't accept the XDA ROM. I'm probably doing something wrong.
Cheers for now.
okay i see you really do not know much. now all you have to do is get the special edition rom u get. then use the same program u used to backup your rom to upload the new one. i really want you to be 100% sure you have a back up. then duplicate the back up for safety reasons. Then extract the speacial edition rom. if its just the rom u got the use the program to do it. if its the whole installation u got a progamm called PROGRAMME A should open and it will guide you throught. Then i hope your phone is a wallaby/qtek 1010/ o2 xda/tmobile MDA they are all the same. else your better stop now. then why dont you lets chat i think it had be easier. yahoo ::nowoxi or msn ::[email protected]
Unfortunately, I haven't IM loaded currently. However, what you told me is a big help. I do have the MDA version of the phone so I'll try that when I get back as I have to leave right now. Thanks again and I'll keep you posted as to how it works out.
Hi nowoxi,
got a problem with OSImageTool, I did my own ROM copy but now how can I upload it to my device in case of need(mine is 2020..)? Do I need a SD card or I can do it directly from the xda image program? Many thanks
P.S. if you find a Yahoo mess request,well...it's me!
Didnt really get your compostition. I dont know where to start from or what to think. I know you have a problem and i know its with the ostool but i really dont get (understand) what your problem is. The rom u said u have. is it one you cooked up or the one on your phone before. then wher edo u wanna send stuff to. your phone or you wanna backup the one on your phone :?:
Sorry for the confusion, here's the story.
I'm the owner of an Orange SPV m1000, I received it last week and don't know much about PocketPC....my device is an English version, I'd like to convert it to an Italian one. I found an ITA ROM (it's for Qtek 2020 but it should work..) and soon I'd like to try to flash it. In case of need (maybe something wrong in the flashing...) I'd like to keep a copy of the original ROM installed in my device so I used XDAtools to get one, as you explained in this thread. Now I have this .nb1 file in my pc and the question is: can I upload it from my pc directly in case something goes wrong during the upgrade flashing? Or should I copy the .nb1 file to the SD card first and then try to flash from it ( but in what way?) ? Hope to made it clear now, thanks to your help!
P.S. Still looking the forum for a guide on using the imagetool....please be patient
Well you can restore it directly from your pc. just follow the steps in the thread. for source instead of selecting something in the combo box. click the 3 dots at the side then use your phone as destination. i hope that helps you out.
Sure thing!
Just one more question: what happen after I have finished upload the .bf1 file to my device with imagetools? It's a kind of autostart procedure or do I have to make some move? Thanks again, bye from Italy
nowoxi
I'm back and about to try to load the XDA ROM based on your instructions. However, question: do I have to removed the existing ROM from my device or will the XDA ROM simply overwrite it?
Hope you're around this Sunday evening/Monday morning!
Cheers
The rom will be overwritten.
Since getting my XDAII a few days ago, I've been impressed with the number of customisations possible, and have managed to acheive a number of different tasks, however, I have as yet to cook my own ExtROM for it.
This is something I would very much like to do, and I have acquired an ms_.nbf from the end of the line update that O2 provides from their website.
I have all the necessary tools to do it, and I know exactly how to, but I do not know which packages I need to keep in order to have a PDA with fully functioning bluetooth, blackberry and ad nauseum. alternately, as I'm sure that there is probably an ExtROM with all the bare essentials in it (and probably newer version essentials too) so if someone could point me to one, or the other I'd be very grateful, and whatever it is, I am definitely interested in dumping O2Active.
you dont need to mess with nbf files to cook an extented rom
you can just use the tool to unhide and unlock the extented rom from the xda and remove the cab files you dont want and
add the ones you want and change the config.txt file to include the new stuff and exclude the stuff you removed
then you just lock and hide the rom and hardreset
and the rest if history
I know, but someone else wants a custom ROM, and they're too far away for me to get hold of their PDA to do it that way.
all I need to know now is what .CAB files I need to include to have everything functioning, then I'll bung on extras
I guess this is a trial and error jobby then.
now something I've wondered that should be simple to answer;
when flashing on an ExtROM, is it possible to flash ONLY the ExtROM, or is it mandatory to flash the OS and radio as well, on pain of trashing the PDA and reducing it to only the bootloader.
well, through trial and error I've got it all sorted, thanks to everyone for their help... oh, wait, I didn't get any help, but many thanks to Rudegar.
Sure, you don't owe me anything, but if a forum's been setup for the purpose of giving help, it sure would have been nice to have received some rather than just getting ignored because I haven't made enough posts yet to join whatever religious PDA sect you happen to run exclusively to help eachother.
rant over, I've made my point, perhaps something positive can come of it?
Just yesterday I created my first "EXTENDED ROM" and installed it by myself for my friends XDA II, all you need is EDIT2003 program thats on the wiki somewhere. Then you can open the ms_.nbf, and edit the splash images and the files it will install on the hard reset, then just install it to the phone using the rom upgrade procedure but put the extended rom in and delete the nk.nbf and the radio_.nbf tah dah!
hey all!!
i'm from Venezuela and i recently purchased a HTC PPC6800 (cdma) and my carrier here didn't activate the GPS...
I'm not new to windows mobile but i'm totally new to ROM upgrading...
the only thing im affraid of is not being able to make calls after the upgrade... since i'm from Venezuela i can't use Sprint configuration...
so here's my question:
WHAT DO I HAVE TO BAKCUP FROM THE FILE "EPST" SO I CAN SET IT UP AFTER THE UPGRADE???
i'll be very much appreciated if any of the Senior members could help me here...

Nelson, there is a few month old utility that can extract an HTC ROM from the device directly to the SDcard. If you have the ROM (*.nbh) of your phone from your carrier then you could use a utility such as DogGuys Kitchen maker to decompile the ROM. What you usually only need is contained in the ..OEM\OPERATORS directory.
If you look at how existing kitchens (and a FAQ on kitchens) are set-up, you'll see that each carrier tends to have its own operators OEM that the end-users selects when building their ROM. Following those templates you can create your own with the files specific to your carrier, and add that to an existing kitchen. Once done, then you can then build your own ROM. Though, with that done, of course the language files for your new OS ROM will be english rather than spanish.
The other possible option is to provide your carrier's OS ROM to the forum here and one of us may have the chance to decompile the necessary files and provide a set-up for you.
...sorry, I'm travelling right now and don't have the chance to go into greater detail or updated links.
whoa! I think u went way over his (and my) head with that one...
I don't think he's looking to cook his own rom, he just wants to install one....and wants to know what info he needs to document before so he can reinstall it properly afterwards..
wow thanks Keystone...
although Dillsnik is right... i read the FAQ on kitchens an it doesn´t sound complicated... but i´m not sure if i´m capable of doing this...
however i will be reading more about this kitchens and cooking my own rom because it sounds very interesting that i can put only the programs i want (wich by the way it´s exactly what i´m looking for), so i´ll be witing here soon asking more questions...
by the way, the main propuse of this thread is still open... and the quistion is in the first post:
WHAT DO I HAVE TO BAKCUP FROM THE FILE "EPST" SO I CAN SET IT UP AFTER THE UPGRADE???
thanks for the quick response!!!!
guys, installing the official Sprint rom before your rom of choice allows your carrier settings to be maintained, so there is no need to back up any of that information. at WORST, you'll have to get your a-key reset, which is a quick call to verizon(or your carrier?). i've only had to do this once, and i've flashed my phone probably 25 times.
install olipro 2.4
run Official Sprint RUU
at 'Tap Here to Set Up Your Device' install your rom of choice
run carrier cab (if its not in the kitchen)
if you try to make a call and receive a 'your phone cannot be authenticated' message, call tech support and dont let them tell you anything, just say 'i had to do a hard reset and now my phone cant authenticate i need a new a-key please.' theyll tell you that its not necessary and will try to do it automatically, then if they cant theyll give you a new a-key and tell you how to apply it.
EDIT: there is no way to view your a-key, which is why you are unable to back it up and why backing up EPST settings is pointless for you.

Well, I think Keystone is trying to give you a safeguard. You likely have a ROM that nobody else has a copy of here, and I'd suggest you dump a backup copy of it before you do anything to your device, just in case.

We cant give a definite answer to that because we do not know how your carrier operates.
In theory, the actual Sprint update should backup your programming and restore it for you. I do understand you wanting to have a backup plan, but in that case, I would suggest you record everything.
Hey,can anyone just help me to understand how i need to install new software in my hd2? I just buy it,it has some problems with sms and so on,so my friend told me to put in new rom.If it's not a problem,i would be very grateful for all info about doing it,do i need any special programs or snth to do that.
Thanx for any help

Without know exactly what HD2 you have (european or American), if it's network locked, secondhand and so on, I have know idea why you can't send SMS messages. I recommend reading up on how to flash ROMs via the link above and taking the appropiate action based upon your situation.... We all started this way, honest ; )
In particular this thread is good http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477

Hey Folks,as u read: I am totally new to android.
But here are some facts about me I'll tell you just to say sorry for dumbp questions right at the beginning.
I have a good base of Linux knowlege and i also always was modding my phones. If it was my Motorola Razr v3i or my Rhodium Windows 6.5.
Most important: I REALLY dont want others to make MY work. Dont missunderstand me: Some People just dont have the ability to make that on their own and i think, they needed to be helped too, but not me. I want to learn it and i CAN learn it.
But sorry if I post a question in the wrong Forum or ask questions wich have been answerted pretty often. My Problem ist not to read or speak english: It is to imagine the words I need to use for google and stuff to find my answeres. So, some hints, tips or links to Howtos or stuff woud help me alot.
Burt here the bunde of my most important questions:
It all started with Adobe Flash. I guess my Pad has a arm6 or 7 CPU... it has 600mhz and i found a version for that here on xda- i installed it and its working so far for the adobe flv player and swf files but not as an plugin 4 the reguar browser or dolphin hd. any suggestions?
I also wanted to download teamspeak 3. it seems, there i have the same problem. it tells me, my device is incomatible at the market. So is there a way to get it anywhere else and my to recompile it and patch it to work?
next: i tried to root my device using androot and also z4root. it goes through the process without errors and everything seems to be fine but sshdroid tells me, root is disabled. the access to some locations of the phone still is denied and so i cant install nandroid for backups and before i will go on, i REALLY shoud install an backup solution, right folks?
Well- for the first, thats it. if i know that i guess, the rest is more easy to find out on myself as it is right noe.
Again: You dont need to make my work. sorry and thanks at once && greetings from ?good? ol' germany. Alex
well- one thing i also coud need some help... i was searching arround how 2 set my phone for data2ext4 ... but if i wont get running my phone rooted, i can forget about that, cant I? my card already hav an 4GB ext4 partition beside a 12GB FAT partition
