[Q] Charging Problem X10

If I keep my phone on charging even after its on 100%, it starts rolling back. As in from 100 to 99 then 98, even if its pluggen in.
Don't know what kind of a problem this is, hardware or software.
Or there's some issue with the battery.
Please help.

Sometimes I have the same problem. I dont know if it is caused of a program running in a background or what, but reboot helps

I know the reboot helps.
But usually I put it on charging at night before sleeping.
And when I wake up in the morning, the battery % becomes even less than what it was when i plugged it in.
I'm usually in a hurry then to leave for college in the morning . Can't go to college with battery % less than even 10
Thanks for the reply anyway !

Maybe You have some program that syncs something all the time. Did You try to turn off data and wifi. You can always check it if the reason is the hardware or Software. Just make a backup of Your whole ROM, delete the data and leave the phone over night. I hope it is only software problem.
EDIT: Does Your battery go hot while charging? Oh, and try to wipe battery stats

Maybe there is really some program that is causing that. I had this problem rarely so I never cared. I had one program called Batterymonitor or sth. like that and it was the reason. Do You have such a program, that shows Your battery level or temperature?

Yes, I have setcpu and rom toolbox.
But would these applications really cause this problem?

The x10 charges the battery to full then if still plugged in it will stop charging until batt drains to set level ,then will charge to full again and over and over all night. X10 wont over charge batt when left plugged in. Kernel/bootloader handle this. There is an app current widget that can log charge levels.
EDIT: I had a tip on charging here but removed it after further research read more about batt here..

EDIT: the best tip I usr for battery life is, let batt runout until phone shuts off, then pull batt, then plug in charger, then replace batt into phone, then phone will boot, enter xrecovery on first boot and wipe batt stats. After wipe while still in xrec pull batt then unplug. Now plug in phone then insert batt. Phone should boot in charge mode( big batt icon only on screen) dont start phone untill light green for 1-2 hours to get full charge . I do this about once a month, when phone starts to shut off around 15%

As mentioned above as well, this is normal. After charging to 100%, the phone stops battery charging, and will activate charging again only when battery falls a bit (say 97%). Also, battery heating while on charging (and also when using the phone continuously while playing a game) is normal. Relax.. your phone is fine
@ToledoJab
I am having the same issue with battery... phone switching off at 15%, even at 22-23%, when playing a game or something. But switching it back on, and leaving it idle, phone might run for another 2 hours. So it is the extra load while running a game that the phone cant take any longer (i remember getting the 15%,10% and 5% reminders earlier while playing games)...? Does the battery calibrate method actually help in your case? does it go all the way down to 0% or 1% before shutting down.. ?
I just did this after posting that. And yes my phone reported warnings @ 25% 15 10 5 and then shutdown @ 1%.
This way is like reconditioning an old rechargeable ni-cad batt.
All this does is completey drain batt then, with least amount of drainage (phone on, apps& radios running) allows battery to full charge.
There is also a way called recalibrate battery. But this way over charges the batt.
EDIT: I think the phone load will effect reported batt left. I think batt gage use average loads to estimate remaining power. Meaning games, full brightness of LCD, radios -3g -GPS -WiFi -Bluetooth will use more than avg power
edit 2: I found this thread also has some very good points and links. after reading this i will not intentionally take my batt to 0%. I hit 0% about 1-2 times a month on accident as it is. i will just make sure when i do go 0% to wipe stats (dont know if it helps or not) then preform a long (overnight) full charge with phone off.

make a test disabling the data/wifi and bluetooth, don't use full brightness in the screen after that use it normally if in those conditions the battery still drains in 3 hours then I dare to say that is something in the hardware of the phone
DONE all of that ! tried everything trust me well i think ive tried everything, im on stock rom now, calibrating my battery again and again till i get 100% after restart, because whenever i charge it charges in like 20 minutes, lets see how i go, sometimes with 30% battery i get 4 hours, sometimes with 100% battery i get 4 hours battery, makes no sense whatsoever.
If u want u can tried to change a new battery

you would never get 100% after restart because the phone uses battery when booting and loading the system.
calibrating if you are talking about the option that erase the file that have the stats of the battery that isn't going to change anything if your phone discharge in x minutes it will still discharge in that same amount of time because that method of calibration is a kind of reset to the %display in the phone nothing else.
if you can. try measuring the mA of the battery after charging it with a tester, then measure it again when the phone display something like 50% of charge it shouldn't vary a lot if the battery is in a good state.
but you in the first post said that you have tried with a new battery and still get the same time. and at the same time say that you have tried the phone with the data off. and get discharged quickly. if that is accurate then your phone have some kind of hardware failure that is making it use more battery than necessary, so you should send it to repair.
ps: also you can check the phone signal if you are in an area with poor reception the phone will use more battery because it will need to use more potency to establish a link with the cell tower.

nope not in an area with poor signal, ok im thinkin its an hardware failure as well, i might need to buy an external charger , my charging port might be screwed up, but like when i let my battery die down a little bit, and then i calibrate when it is at about 40% i then wipe battery stats and restart phone its at 22% and it stayed at 22% all night i didnt put it too charge and i listened to music for about 30 minutes or so, now i dont know what the f*** is going on i love my x10 mini pro, i just want this solved
I sort of got this kind of problem when i was running MiniCM2.2.0. It really buggered up the battery, it would lose about 7 or 8 percent when i was just looking at the lockscreen after powering up my phone.
Sometimes it will just drain like in no time at all, complain that i have to charge it, but when I turn off the phone and restart it, and it will say i'm at 60 percent. sometimes that is true, sometimes not, i only put it on the charger when I'm reasonably sure there is no power left, ie, if after a restart of two or three it will still say i'm under 10%.
So, whenever it runs out of power,do a restart and see how much power you've got left. don't charge it until you're absolutely sure you have to. Still not sure where it leads to, but I don't think i'll get back the battery-endurance i had before., which was about 3 or 4 days on fairly minimal use, without 3g or wifi.
(PS: Don't wipe battery stats until the phone is fully charged. Charging it from just about nothing to 100% in one go and then wiping the stats seems to give me best result.)

hmmmm yes thats like my problem, ive wipe the battery at 100 most the time, and it works, but not well enough at all. ill try that buddy ! thanks and i might have a solution in mind, i think it is our phones charging capability not only the roms fault, cause im at stock now and still same problem, im going to try charge battery externally see where it gets me

yep ive tried different charger and charging through USB. same thing charges to 100% really fast, and comes back down really fast, every single time i restart my phone after it has charged to one hundred percentage drops by 20% until it has come to its real charged percentage i think it is in the hardware of my phone, am i able to connect a bst38 battery to an old nokia to try charge the phone?

My phone is rooted. Recently I am having a lot of battery issues. My battery gets charged up from 30% to 100% in a few seconds and while using without wifi or data connection it suddenly drops by almost 20% . Earlier my phone used to last a day with 3G connection, now even without data connection it won't last a day.

happened with me also, when your phone gets charged to 100%, restart your phone into recovery but dont unplug your phone from chareger, then reboot your phone from recovery, might be your battery stats would change to actual %, it worked for me.

1) charge you battery to 100%
2) let your phone discharge until it shuts down by itself
3) charge the phone with it switched off until you get a green light.
4) remove the battery but do not disconnect the charger(you'll se back led light flashing)
5) after approx. 30sec... Re insert the battery... Now the led will again be red.. Allow it charge until green light appears...
6) now remove the charger and boot the phone...
7)look at battery info... If it is 100% and voltage at 4200mV then your prob. Is solved...
8) remember... In the whole process don't remove the charger and do not boot up the phone..
9) if the prob. Still persists then you will have to buy a new battery..

[Q] htc battery life problems

hello guys, i am using htc amaze 4g stock ICS tmobile
From last 2 months i am facing a problem
When i charge my phone it takes 7-8 hours approx to charge to 100% , sometimes it doesnt even charges to 100%,
I thought may be its a battery issue so i changed my battery, but still the problem persists + another thing battery discharges from 100% to 75 in less than 10 minutes & after 75 %battery the phone gets switched off suddenly & if i try to switch it on it shows random battery charge of 67 4% or anything like that randomly, if i restart it again the battery life boosts up or goes down even more, i hav to keep my charger attached all the time to use my phone, i cannot go to HTC SERVICE center as phone is not launched in india
The battery i am using is from htc only same model, as i bought it from ebay
It works fine if i use the phone on charger
Bt on battery it shuts down anytime
I want to give my phone to a local repair so i wanted to ask you guys, what would be the probable issue with the phone
I have tried calibrating the battery too
Bt no help with that also
I have heard that such kind of issues come with charging IC too
Thanks in advance for the help

S9 Plus Exynos battery Problem

Hi all! My s9 Plus has been acting weird lately. It's dropping around 40 percent battery during night. It used to drop 10 percent at normal but now it's dropping like crazy. I have tried resetting the phone to factory but it's still the same
Even wiping out cache is not having any effect. This battery drop only happens when display is off.
Any fix please, i don't want to replace the battery! I'd rather sell it than that.
Thanks for your reply!
geez, very useful battery consumption screens you attached here. Maybe you are one of those type of people who leaves charging their phones over night, or charging while using it? If yes-then well in such cases batteries rarely last 2 years without losing 30% of capacity.
Also, it's sufull to FULLY discharge battery, when it turns off itself and then when phone is off connect charger and leave it until it' fully charged, this way os ad real battery "calibration" synchronizes. Sometimes os may show higher % then in reality and boom 15% and your phone turned off by itself.
To battle discharge overnight - put phone into flight mode and see if it still discharges so fast (everybody should put in flight mode at night, to not fry little brain they still left). If this helps-this may be because of cellular signal is weak in your apartment or data (wifi) is weak and phone uses too much power to amplify it. Anyway in android you can easy see what uses most power.
Also i always unlock my phones and root them to install custom roms and kernels, they 99.99% of the time will ALWAYS gets me better battery life then stock. WIth all phones i had -i charge them at most every 3rd day. I have a life so i dont spend my life on phone, this helps too to save batery
Also my DATA or Wifi is always off when i dont need it. I turn it on when i need something from internet, and turning it off when im done (good for security too)

Man! I play games on this phone and when the battery is low I charge and use it at the same time. Does that means that my battery has fried out? Shall i geta new one now... but the battery drain is same when screen is on... only screen iff drain is fast.
Suggest the best battery rom that you use please!
Thanks for your precious reply!
