Hi,
I want to share updated ROM for Iolite (HTC touch cruise 2) devices.
This ROM is based on official ROM 1.11.707.1.
What's new:
Windows Mobile 6.1 is updated to latest version - CE OS 5.2.21055, Build 21055.1.6.8
Manila is updated to latest build for WM6.1 - 1.2.1913.1530
Manila skin is updated (more skins)
NETCF is updated to 3.5.7283
NETCFv35.Messages.EN.wm is added
NETCF configuration tool is added (Settings->System->.Net Config)
SqlCeMobile is updated to 3.5.5386
Media Player Diamond skin is preinstalled. (see screenshot)
"Customize Hardware buttons" tweak is applied
SdkCerts
2_Way_Recording fix is preinstalled, install your favorite recorder and record you calls
(VITO Audio Notes works just great, for example)
XDA_UC is added. (see below)
XDA_UC sample package with latest Opera, Google maps, Total Commander, G-Light and other programs is added.

Iolite_GoogleMap - replaced with latest version (see "Included XDA_UC folder content")
Iolite_Opera_Browser_WWE - replaced with latest version (see "Included XDA_UC folder content")
MS_AdobeReaderLE_R_2_5_10300060_0 - After I see how Foxit "Reflow" feature works, I cannot use AdobeReader.

If you need them - just find cabs and drop them to XDA_UC folder.
ROM is compressed with LZX compression - you get about 387 MB storage space with it.
ROM PagePool is set to 16 MB - it takes some RAM, but device operates faster. I think there is no need to keep your RAM free, it's better to use it =)
Cache settings are tweaked for faster SDCard access.

It looks like this tweak + new WMP gives me clean audio playback in WMP and AudioManager.

in the XDA_UC folder if you want to try another cache settings.
How to flash?
Please read and understand Flashing your Iolite Rom before starting to flash your Iolite. Follows the instruction on how to flash the Hard-SPL package (once only).
Download and extract Iolite_WM6.1_21055_WWE_XDA_UC_v1.0.rar.
Customize XDA_UC folder (see below)
Copy XDA_UC folder to your storage card. (I connect my device to PC as "Disk Drive" and use Total Commander, then reconnect in ActiveSync mode).
Run CustomRUU.exe to begin the flashing process.
On the second boot XDA_UC will start (see attached XDA_UC_begin.png). Click OK.
It will work in background and install any cabs you have in XDA_UC and XDA_UC\SD folders on your storage card. It takes about 4 minutes on my device, don't interrupt it, don't reboot your device, just wait.
Wait till it shows you final message. (see attached XDA_UC_end.png). Click YES to reboot.
Done.
Why wm6.1?
WM6.5 is still in beta stage. New builds are coming every week =)
Why XDA_UC?
XDA_UC allows YOU to choose what programs, sounds, tweaks will be installed on your device. I included base XDA_UC folder I use for myself.
Remove any files you don't like, add your own and go for it =)
XDA_UC is a silent User & Cook automation script.
It requires no user configuration (unless you count dripping stuff into a folder as configuring).

XDA_UC Common Good Practices
1. Do Not Reboot untill The XDA UC Message tells you it's finished.
2. You do not need to make your .cab files read only. But out of safety of loosing them it is recommended.
3. Save your .reg files as Unicode, always start your .reg file with
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
In the first line. And leave one blank empty line at the end of the .reg file.
4. Test your tweaks and files instead of reflashing to many times. A self initiated script will be uploaded soon, so you can test on a device.
5. Save your .xml files as Unicode and check if they are correctly formatted by opening them for instance in Internet Explorer.
If it doesn't show you the content then it will tell you where to look for mistakes.

GfxBoost-1.2-Service.cab - latest GfxBoost.
glight_0.5.1_working4mega.cab - great backlight manager. Read more about G-Light. You need to disable or configure g-light if you want to use manual backlight settings.
igcalc.2.0.qvga.skin.cab - great replacement for standard calculator - it's good looking, it's smaller, it's better.
MyLostBlog_MyNote.cab - cool postit-like program for quick notes.
operabrowser_wm_97b1.cab - latest opera for windows mobile.
PocketRar.3.90.cab - latest PocketRar
PocketRar.reg - ".rar" file association for PocketRar
PPCPimBackup.exe - use this program to backup you Contacts and so on, copy your backup file to XDA_UC folder and XDA_UC will restore your backup.
TotalCommander.252b1.cab - latest total commander.
TotalCommander.reg - two panels for totalcommander
Tweak_copy_to_Windows.reg - adds command to copy files from copy_to_Windows folder to Windows folder on your device.
There are almost all sound files from Iolite in "copy_to_Windows" folder. I excluded them from ROM, and you can choose if you want to have all of them on your device, or customize then as you wish.
Tweak_Enable_PowerManagement.reg - use this to customize PowerManagement settings for SDCard SIM and so on.
Tweak_Manila_Opera97.reg - use Opera 9.7 from manila Internet widget.
Tweak_ReplStore_Cache.reg
and
Tweak_SD_Cache.reg - customize cache settings for SDCard and ReplStore FATFS filter.
WMP_Resume_Plug-In.cab - resume plug-in for Media Player, saves playlist every 5 sec and reopens it on the next WMP start. Known issues - sometimes it doesn't work. Tell me, if you know better WMP resume implementation.
SKTSYNC.CAB - I use this program to set time on my Iolite. Known issues - sometimes it sets my clock 1 hour earlier when I run it for the first time. Tell me, if you know better time synchronization program.
SD\GoogleMaps.CAB - latest GoogleMaps. This cab will start with Full User interaction capabilities.
SD\iContactAE_BETA.qvga.cab - great contact program with qvga skin
iContact_key_40C2.reg - run iContact when Navi key is pressed.

The benchmarks of RAM access are very close:
build 20765 - RAM access;539;Speed index
build 21055 - RAM access;554;Speed index
The cache settings gives us the huge dufference.

Thanks a lot. But I was thinking about comparison of same builds but with different pagepool, because versions 21054 and 21055 are faster than older builds even with default pagepool.
Once again. You did great job with WM6.1.
I'm testing the ROM. It seams to be really Fast and stable. Unfortunately I have problem with the screens manual backlights adjustment. When it’s set to manual screen goes brighter and darker all the time uncontrolled. Any idea how to fix it?

This is g-lite program running in background.
Read more about it here.
It's installed from XDA_UC folder.
If you dont like it at all - just uninstall it. (And delete cab file from XDA_UC)
But i suggest to configure it as you like. Just go to Programs->G-Light and uncheck "Enabled" check box.
If you just want to disable g-light when you use one of your programs - go to Programs->G-Light, tap "Exceptions" tab at the bottom and add your program to the list.
IMHO it works better then standard light manager.

I tested this ROM with 6 MB page pool and I feel some lags from time to time.
I set page pool to 0 - so it should automatically adjusts, but I don't like this too.
I like 16 Mb, and I tried 20 Mb. 20 was almost like 16 and I use this value.
On the other hand, if you go to Settings->Memory->Program you will see that Page Pool eats your "Program Total". I don't think this is important as my device never runs out of memory.

I've used it for some time now and it is incredibly smooth!!
Much faster than original ROM, and of course WAAY much faster than WM 6.5
I like the better response from the phone application (answering and closing a call), although after I press the red button the call still continues for ~1 sec before closing.

and look for Phone settings in it,
there is something like "end call delay" - you can set it to 0.

Русский нафик не нать. Прошился, а баг с сортировкой в Start-Programs есть. Ярлыки сортируются хрен знает как а не по алфавиту.
по-моему все по алфавиту, кроме ярлыков микрософта - видимо они обладают тайным знанием, позволяющим вытаскивать свои ярлыки наверх.
спасибо за наводку, поищу на эту тему. действительно, неудобно немного.

is just about UC and HTC Home, right? Or anythings else.
HTC Home is exist on Sonblack ROM.
Added UC and cleaning some soft such as:
- AdvancedConfig
- ClearTemp
- Task Manager
- PIMBackup
- SynchroTime
- Total Commander
- WKTask
- BatteryStatus
Added HTC Diamond Green.tsk and modify operatorname for Indonesian GSM ops
Some of the soft can be installed on Extended_ROM (I installed Cloudyfa unhide ROM and now can see and even can install on those Extended_ROM)
The Storage Memory become 52MB plus 9.93MB Extended_ROM.
Disadvantage are; not as fast as Dioxda2 ROM and netcf still version 2 (can be upgrade to 3.5 also)
Actually the modif is for muy purpose, but I am sharing if somebody interested or want to remodif again.

What is the difference between PDAViet version (Sonblack) and yours. I am already using Sonblack's rom. There is a problem with the Windows Live and Messenger in Sonblack's rom. You can't set "Sign in as" in Messenger. Also default camera application gives an error "Unable to enter the Picture Theme mode" when you try to use Picture Theme mode. Another bug is, there is a little black bar just above 2 on the keypad.
What did you remove or add to this rom? Did you repair any bugs?

its performance is a bit weired ( lag.... I felt that),

Yep,
Picture theme is missing and the little black bar just above 2 on the keypad still exist.
I install on Dopod 818Pro (G3), for speed, still below dioxda2 ROM, but for stability still okay (I put almost 50 additional softs)
Will inform you next morning (now is night in my City) and I am ready to go home.
Ps:
Could anybody help for solving 2 kind of bug mention above?

I was cleaning Windows Live in this ROM, for picture theme mode, you just need to copy this file (Birthday.gif, attached) on /My Documents/Templates folder.
Still working the other.
Do you want to use network wizard optimally?
Put new on the registry:
\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\RIL\OperatorNames
new key such as:
xxxyy and the value of the Brand of your GSM operator
where xxx is MCC and yy is MNC (Five digit number)
The operator code can be found here:

It will customize your GPRS setting (and may be more??)

I am using "[POWER_Button_FIX + U.C.] ~V.1b and V.1c ~ Very Fast WM6.1(19214-PV)...(No Hardspl ?)" 1c version now. It has the same Picture Theme problem.
The attachment you've sent is a jpg file and copying it to My Documents\Templates does not solve the problem. But... if you copy Birthday.gif (which is a system file and most probably it will be invisible as far as I know) from \Windows folder to \My Documents\Templates the problem will be solved.

p.s. You can also copy other .gif template pictures.

Actually I attached gif file but the web convert it to JPEG.

What do you mean?
You mean you can change the left and right side (below) with softkey?
I can change almost anything with softkey, but for opening program you should go to today screen left and right side below.
Or did you install any calendar soft such as thumbcal, because sometime it replace original calendar.
o if you try to configure softkey with calendar - it was not there.
if you try to copy calendar from \windows to \windows\start menue\programs it`s not possible.
i need on the left softkey calendar - like other roms.
all other thinks work perfekt

Your calendar is on Start menu, Move to start program
1. Open Start, Settings, Personal, click Menu
2. Uncheck calendar there
3. Close (click OK)
Go to softkey, its there now.

How to make a language pack?
- Open a rom that have the language you want. Please use a structurated rom to get simplier your work.
- in the sys, copy all contents in the language folders (for italian, 0410, copy all the folders that have in the name "0410") in a folder and rename the .rgu in .reg.
- Then you need the name of the folders, you can get it into the initflashfiles.dat. Create a dirs.txt and put for each line the folders (or files) to rename. Example:

Honestly? For all ROMs that are created for both SPL 1.2 and SPL 3.5, yes. Downgrade. There's no point having SPL 3.5 if you're not taking advantage of the extra space.

I agree.
I look at this this way:
Why give up 20MB of user memory for no reason? With SPL1.2 you have 20MB more memory. Unfortunately, after the downgrade, you won't get back all the 20 MB. I think about 3MB is gone for good.
I think the changing from SPL3.5 to spl1.2 is actually an upgrade, not downgrade. It upgrades the user memory up by about 17MB.
The change from spl1.2 to spl3.5 is a downgrade of user memory but upgrade of ROM memory space. The change from spl3.5 back to spl1.2 is an upgrade of user memory by giving back from the ROM memory space.

This is true as long as you are trying to use an SPL 1.2/SPL 3.5 ROM. If you have a "real" SPL 3.5 ROM, then this argument becomes less true.
The thing is, there are definite advantages to having things pre-loaded in ROM. Mind you, there are some disadvantages that come with it as well, but if you're already on SPL 3.5, why not take advantage of what it gives you? I'll probably end up making a post when I finish with my own personal ROM, but I have a hell of a lot of things in here - so much so that I'm surprised how much I can fit. And it's rather nice, actually.
But if you're not doing that? If you believe in a minimalist, "clean" ROM? SPL 3.5 is totally not for you.
As a side point, by the way: just because you have a packed-to-the-gills ROM doesn't mean that it's slow. The slowness tends to come from things like services, drivers, continually running programs. If the files in the ROM are from load/unload applications, then that won't have an impact on the device speed (unless you really want to start getting picky about the number of files in \Windows).

But if you have tons of stuff in the windows directory, then when you use file manager on that directory, won't you take much longer time for it to respond back? What about backup and restore too? Having things we never use will slow these down too, won't it? Finally, once you have packed in lots of application into the ROM, the installation of them will still invade into your program memory, leaving you with less memory for the stuff that you really want to run, right? For applications that gets update regularly, I hate to see two versions of them in my device - a problem if they are built into the ROM.

Yes. Fairly small case (since you don't normally use a file manager there), but that's true.

As long as you have a semi-intelligent backup application, no. Files in ROM are marked as being in ROM. You use Resco Explorer - take a look at the properties of a ROM file in \Windows, like \Windows\aac_reader.dll. You'll notice that there's a ROM checkbox that's ticked on.

Nope. Applications that aren't running don't take up any program memory at all. Program memory is RAM. What we're talking about here is ROM. ROM is used by the operating system ROM (all these things we keep flashing on our devices) and by storage.

I'm using sprite backup. There is no such intelligence in that I'm afraid. Under windows, all dll are there, whether it was from the ROM or installed by me - all mixed up. It would be a challenge to sort out which came from ROM and to uncheck them individually.

No need. I have Sprite Backup. It's smart enough not to back up any file in ROM (modified files don't count, because then you have a copy in storage as well).

My backup time for Irus's Sogarth Vanilla is just about 2.5 minutes. For the non-vanilla, it is at least double. How come the difference then? The size of the backup file is also much smaller in the case of his ROM.

Hi Michy,
I've tested your 1.60F ROM which I must admit is great!
The first usable rom I tested iimho.
The only thing didn't respond was
'Cannot inizialize the GPS server' with geocaching option active on the camera, while on wm6.0 roms was ok.
Is your 1.79.2F based on the same bluetooth stack of the 1.60F or is it a new one?
Do the geocaching option with the camera work on your new release?

1. Active Sync starting up automatically.
Solution:
Step 1. See the solution given in Pro Users ROM WM 6.1 edition thread.
Step 2. I addition to that here is something that will get rid of the problem forever (next hard reset i mean )
- Open DotFred's task manager and go to Notifications tab.
- Look for all notifications that have repllog.exe in the "Notified Programs" and the value "AppRunAfterTimeChange" in Argument column. Delete these entries (button for deletion is in the bottom toolbar). In most cases there will be two such entries.
-Reboot the phone.
Thats it. ActiveSync wont start on its own now. Please note that even after you do this step, the previous "Fake Server" fix is still needed to be applied. Both of these work together.
Recommended Addons :

1. Advance Configuration Tool : Can be used to change advanced system settings. Some of the most popular settings are to disable dialer themes, tuning filesystem cache for increased performance and enabling battery icon in taskbar on home screen instead of clock. Use it carefully though as some of the settings are a bit dangerous, specially the touchflo touch sensitivity settings.
2. EzInput ABC Default : Sets ABC as the default mode for the new keyboards instead of T9.
3. ClearTemp: Cleanup accumulated junk from your phone using this.
4. Disable XT9 by DuttyThroy: Disables the ET9 and XT9 dictionary system that comes with EZInput keyboards and enables default Windows Mobile's dictionary.
5. HomeScreenPlusPlus with Clock Theme: If you ever get bored with Manila, use it as your homescreen plugin for a good look. Also comes with a very capable task manager and OMAP processor Overclocker (use with caution!!)
6. I-Contact Version .9 and PointUI Modified blue theme NEW!!: Finger Friendly Contact Application. This version is ultra fast! Loads contacts even faster than the default Windows Mobile Contacts app. Amazing!!! And it has settings icons too, but its in Start>Settings>System instead on Programs. I have also included the PointUI theme that closely matches the color scheme of this ROM. I have modified it for working with this ROM.
7. M2DC (Manila 2D Customizer) : It can be used to customize some of the aspects of Manila 2D as well as installing new themes.
8. NEW!! Audio Manager 2.2 Minimal Install : Use the 5 files in the zip file to upgrade your audio manager to version 2.2. This update would be part of any further release of this ROM. @Sumit..... Buddy I am facing a problem with Active Sync since a couple of days (I use vista). The first time when I sync the phone it works but the next time it shows sync error. so I have to delete the partnership and set up device again, this solves the problem but only for one time. the next time I have to sync I have to do the same, meaning delete the partnership and set up device again. I have also noticed that the My Documents folder of the phone on my pc is missing. Im using the new windows mobile device centre...Please help!!

@nevermind_me: Yes that is an issue with Microsoft Outlook actually. When you start to sync your phone, right click on the taskbar on your PC and click "Task Manager". Go to the "Processes" tab. There, in the "Image Name" column, you will see two instances of "Outlook.exe" running. If you will look at the "Memory (Private Working Set)" column, one will be using higher amount of memory and other will be using lower amount of memory. Kill the outlook.exe which is using more memory and the sync will start.

Thanks buddy, and ya do give feedback buddy. That's what most people don't do and then blame the ROM later for not performing well. People should understand that I have only one device on which i can test. Rest is up to the community.

Please NOTE:
1.Please apply the Opal today theme the first time you boot your phone after flashing. Otherwise you wont get flat title and soft key bar and WK task will have a different background color. Will fix it if i get some time.
2. A duplicate installation of Audio Manager is created in \Program Files folder for an unknown reason. You can safely delete it.
ROM is complete, with all parts of OS intact and HTC's original OEM apps in it with updated versions of some. Apart from SQM, Windows Update and Welcome center, nothing is missing from it.
Main Features
* WM 6.1 with Manilla 2D Elfin + Opal version with Windows Live working
* Manila Opal themes for main applications like Manilla 2D plugin, Phone Dialer, Windows Media Player, Calculator, Comm Manager etc.
* WKTask, an advance task manager and program launcher which shows icons of running programs on task bar and manages them very smoothly. Its the primary task manager used in this ROM. HTC task manager is not there as i think its not of much use along with this one. @hari: Ya, actually zip program is not included in this ROM. PocketRAR is there for it. Open PocketRAR and on first run it will ask you to associate zip and RAR files with it. Check both boxes and click ok. Now your zip files will open in PocketRAR. If you have opened it previously and cancelled this box then open WinRAR, Click on Tools>Settings and on the Integration tab, check both boxes and click OK. That will solve your problem

Open the music tab and let Audiomanager rebuild it database. But be aware that every time you visit the music tab, Audio Manager is started, since the tab actually uses audio manager to play back audio

Actually Hari, Whever you go to the music tab on home screen, it will start the audio manager automatically. THis is the default behaviour of Manilla 2D (The thing that you are using on your home screen with tabs, clock, weather, music etc, its called Manilla 2D). To close Audio Manager, click and hold on it, then click close. When it will start for the first time, it will search for music files on your sd card as well as phone memory so it may seem unresponsive. Let it do that once. After that it will start normally.

is for comm. manager,it has nothing to do with BT functionality.I think you need to find working bluetoothsettings.dll for your device.Try to add this package.No guarantee,though.

If you or someone else can help me with fixing EzInput "My Words" this woud be great.
I started new thread about this problem and some users tell me it works in their ROMs, some tell me it doesn't. But nobody can tell how to fix it.
I tried install this ROM and my EzInput packages work with it. So the problem is somewhere outside...
1.the weather dosn't work on main page below clock, but it work in menu in the bottom of the screen.
2.Some inscriptions in options in not clear language.
3. In the program menu I press to show all programs, but it does not open it, and it shows the list of programs as though I want to add in the program menu.
I will update post next version soon.

If you need standard Programs menu - just select [Start] on top of the screen.

did you disable activesync (outlook) startup on your phone? you cannot synchronize without this process.
I can sync on WinXP and Win7 with this ROM.

Benchmarks of the new kernel on different devices (HD2, Topaz) has shown it as very fast compared to 22047, 23144, 23145, 23146 or 21682. Look here for a sample on HD2

if flash goes wrong you can always revert to an other rom, so far as you only flash nb0 part.
