Now 2.0 with subfolder search and much more - look at changelog
I made this Plugin, because I think it's very useful for me - and perhaps it's also useful for you.
Another Launcher? No - not like the Launcher, which are already available - I wouldn't have developed it otherwise - and I developed it mostly on my handy, because I hadn't much time the last weeks.
You can define in some Launchers what you want - but what about if you want to start quickly something, which is not in your Favos?
And how about a Keyboard direct in Titanium? (could tease some iPhone-Fans )
And therefore "TitaniumStarter" - to start everything quickly. Together with Favorites Plugin of contable and JMLLauncher from JMHL (and jmltoday) I got a wonderful "Launch suite"
Features:
- Keyboard direct in Titanium Panel
- Full animated switching between Keyboard and Results (it should look cool)
- Designed to launch quickly each program in Start Menu with direct accessable different input methods
- Installed by TICS_installer: So it will work in ALL THEMES not only Standard Titanium, also Blizz,Josito,... (if you want to make a special .plg for the keyboard in your favorite Theme, just give it to me, I will integrate it)
- ALL RESOLUTIONS: QVGA, WQVGA, VGA, WVGA
- ALL ROM-Languages - no dependencies to a country or WWE-ROM - it knows, where your Start Menu is to find
- Different type modes (left side of keyboard):
-- I = one letter will start search for all Programs in Startmenu with this abecedarian letter
-- II = one letter needs tab on "GO", after two letters automatic search
-- III = type the word as long you want - only "GO" initiates search
- Wildcard-Search - e.g. "*oo" in Mode III would find "Groovefish" as well as "Bluetooth Explorer"
- Launches programs/chooses letter after tab on plugin - possible because of AreaButtons of JMLPanex
- To erase last letter just click backward button in the bottom-right corner under "GO"
- to erase all input just click on current mode on left side
- ...little bit more- just find it out
Changelog & additional Features of 2.0:
- now can search all subfolders of Start Menu
- Search Algorithm written in C - so very fast search
- completely redeveloped data structure
- Adjustable Animation-speed (Set Animation Time not too low, to prevent Timeouts)
- Links can viewed with or without Folder Info
- Extra Design for Folder-View/Non-Folder View
- Context Menu to change Folder-View, Refresh,Animation-Speed
- After Start an Application, Plugin switch to Keyboard and refresh itself
- Skinable - only provide a new /image-Directory
- Little bit more, which I've forgotten now
AddOn: If your Animation is too slow - you can use smaller Images, which has been made by Jumba - just replace the Images with them from Image-Directory of TitaniumStarter.
Download: images_smaller_sizes_by_Jumba.zip
Requirements:
- Mortscript 4.2 or higher *Download Mortscript 4.2*
- JMLPanex >= 2.0 / better 2.10 *Download JMLPanex* for working Titanium-Buttons
I have some ideas for updates or for another usages of this - it's something what I have developed/will develop ocassionally.
TitaniumStarter is free und will stay free - please don't repost it without asking.
Install to Main Memory like every Titanium Plugin and of course: I overtake no responsibility for damaging your device (however this should go )

Hope you like it and its useful for you (or only to impress a little bit some iPhone-Users )

TitaniumRSS, TICS, TitaniumStarter, JMLLibrary and the other stuff-
Like my work? To spend much more nights, if you want, you can donate a cup of coffee for me.

Wishlist for next Versions:
- also scan Subfolders of Statmenu, that causes implicite: done 2.0
-- possibility to add subfolder-info to panel (on/off - perhaps smaller Font necessary) done 2.0
-- Refresh-Possibility to know Folders to scan done 2.0
-- List of Folders, which shouldn't be scanned
-- Context-Menu to do this done 2.0
- Last 6 runned programs on Page2 of Plugin
- Turn back to Keyboard after Running an app done done 2.0
- special support while installing different .plg's for different Themes
- adjustable Animation speed done 2.0
Wow that looks good Micha, have to try it right away.
Will report how it looks in the different themes.
Greetz Claus
I just installed it and have a question right away, this looks only under start menu and not in subfolders?
I have my shortcuts organized in start menu subfolders, and it does not find them.
Thanx for the nice words - glad that you like it
Look at Post #2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4802002#post4802002
I've added a wishlist - and at first I will integrate subfolders, ok? (ASAP)
Animations are ok?
Micha
woooow, good jub
keep it up buddy
I just tried a lil,and I'll wate for you to support second language keyboard and second folder
if you want a chinese tester, I can help, just contact me

Animations look very cool, for my taste i would make them just a little bit faster, on my device the panel takes 4 seconds to turn.
i love it already although currently its kind of unusable yet for me.
- subfolder problem as described above it just doesnt find anything
- when using wm 6.5.1 pressing a letter presses much higher than it should due to the bigger bottom bar. seems the settings need adjusting here somehow?
look forward to an update, thanks!!

You can adjust the offset in Panex. - to go up and + to go down.
hi,
@pencilcase: offset of panex like claus said will solve your problem, and therefore that I have everything in my main folder,I didn't implement it in subfolder.but next version will do it,must only look for the speeed to find files while turning panel
thanx for the nice words
@claus: 4 seconds? ok,then animation speed will be adjustable in next version,too. on my diamond it's 1 second.i hope it's not exactly beetween turning in middle,because there is the folder-crawling,so that the speed of your file system is the cause.
@kane: of course I'd like to have chinese tester - but what do you mean with second language keyboard? what should I do? anothers layout or signs?
@all : only a question: in mode III - how "responsive" is your device? I mean-could you type fast longer text with this keyboard,too?
sorry 4 typos - only from handy online.
cheers

The keyboard is not very fast, immagine due to Panex response, phone keyboard is faster, but as only a few characters have to be typed it is no problem, and visually i like this onpanel keyboard better.
therefore I asked-on my Diamond I could write quite fast also longer notes/text - how much MHz is your processsor or do you have running mortscripts besides,which slow down system performance?
because of subfolder search: I mentioned this would be too sloww while animation in Mortscript.
So I will develop it in C as sub-process to animation.
that's not possible on my handy,so it will take a litttle more time,until I'm back @home.
but then it should be fast enough to search recursively.
@all: please tell me also the responsiveness of the keyboard-together with yyour device type and processsor speed.
Micha
Once again great work, Micha !!!
Here is the link to my new thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4813673#post4813673
Greetz
contable
for chinese virson i mean the keyboard can also support typing chinese
I know it sounds like almost inpossable....., but if there's a opportunity I'll catch it
but really need this tool to support secend(third, fourth) folder in start menu, this is the most important, and i have to say, good job MichelDiamond , keep it on
@contable: Great FavPeople&Launcher with Multi-Buttons-Plugin - cool! ( & you have a PN)
@Kane: Oh - the chinese keyboard would be interesting. I have 27 buttons - would that be enough? Perhaps we can work together, to get a chinese Variation of it Do you have a screenshot with a comparison of english and chinese keyboard?
And to "second","third" folder - like I said: Mortscript would need roundabout 2-5 seconds to find everything (on my Diamond) - so I have to do it in C... better: had to do it in C - I must think about my last developing of a recursive function, which has to be fast... but I'm roundabout 30ms for 250 Links in Startmenu in all subfolders
But therefore I had/have to change the whole data structure of TitaniumStarter, too... and have to change a little bit the design to make folders visible... and add a Menu to switch on/off Folder expansion.
And that I'm about to do - I had not very much time the last days - but recursion works really fine
From outside - the Panel will look quite similiar to 1.0 - but inside there are very much changes - it's like a new Panel
Need only a little bit time to do this all - but won't take very long - depends on my office
If somebody has more ideas for later, just tell it. Let's see what such a "fun work" will produce
Greetz
Micha
ok, here's 4 of chinese input keyboard , choose one
but i prefer to use the last one for Chinese Traditional and second one for Chinese Simplified.couse the first one and third one there's not much ppl use it
jejeje I know it looks complex,and it really are,chinese input not like english
a=a and if you want to type "apple" you just need to type apple on the keyboard chinese keyboard is like this if you want to type 我(me) you have to type ㄨㄛˇ then there's some words pup up like 我 婐 捰 they all sounds like ㄨㄛˇ
jejeje when i type here I found chinese Variation is almost impossable
but if you can make it possable , please please tell me, I'll do whatever i can to help you
and I have a new suggestion
why just limit this wonderful tool in start menu??
why not let ppl choose what folder they want to search?
and you can set dafult folder in Program Files both in Storage card and main
I suggess this is because there's a lot of non-install apps out there , and it's tired to link them all to start menu
hope you dont think I'm crazy
if you want my MSN skype or google wave, just sent me a PM ok? I'll do what ever i can to help you
That looks very complicated
To make a Keyboard is not the problem - but to know which Key is signed with which Letter. The Filenames are the same?
And your proposal with other search locations: Yes - that's possible with Data structure from 2.0 - but there are expansions needed - e.g. to search or... "what" .exe .* .dll .... and so this should be a new Plugin. The search will also take longer - depends on the size of the files on the search location. Perhaps there should be a favorite Folder-Init... and much more. (already thought about to write SMS with this Keyboard? *g* )
I only have too much projects and work at the moment - ut I won't forget it - perhaps we could do it together (the chinese keyboard, too Would you look a little bit how the keyboard works? Panex can't overgive Parameters to .mscr - so it's easy to read )
Ah - I forgot - 2.0 is finished *g*
It's done - 2.0 is online to free download now!
The Subfolder search is now implemented-was completely rewritten in C, to be fast (Mortscript would have been too slow for such recursive search op's)
Further you now have a Context Menu to adjust animation speed or switch between Subfolder View and Program-only View
much more - see changelog and picture below or in Post #1
Changelog & additional Features of 2.0:
- now can search all subfolders of Start Menu
- Search Algorithm written in C - so very fast search
- completely redeveloped data structure
- Adjustable Animation-speed
- Links can viewed with or without Folder Info
- Extra Design for Folder-View/Non-Folder View
- Context Menu to change Folder-View, Refresh,Animation-Speed
- After Start an Application, Plugin switch to Keyboard and refresh itself
- Skinable - only provide a new /image-Directory
- Little bit more, which I've forgotten now
Have fun - and thanx for the big feedback!
Micha
TitaniumStarter V2.0: real improvements !!!
Thanks Micha !

Hi 2 all,
now you don't have to wait any longer
Changed State: RELEASE 1.1, 17. Sep. 200, 2.30 p.m. MESZ
I developed / will still develop a Titanium Plugin for RSS (my external RSS-Reader is to powerful... and too ... external ) - therefore TitaniumRSS
A RSS-Reader is much more, if it's integrated in Titanium - It's an information application - you don't have to use so much external apps, which lists the current TV program or cinema news or Newspaper Reading or...
*click here to see, that it's indifferent, that it's a RSS-Reader*
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
At first:
Please read Installation-Instructions here in Post - also the FAQs and the short description in Post #2
I'm not responsible for any damage to your device -but I don't think there will be something damaged
TitaniumRSS will already use in the Basic Version ("Black Beauty") some special Features of Titanium, which aren't in use in other Titanum-Pluins at the moment. It's an Application - Titanium is only the view.
Developed in C (MSDN) , C++ (MSDN/MFC) and cascaded Mort-Scripts.
Will run on each ROM, indifferent to the ROM's language and its directory structures
Also all common resolutions - run and tested on QVGA, WQVGA, VGA, WVGA
In V1 it's made for Standard Titanium - so everything which is using "Titanium<your_res>.cpr" and should also run fine on the standard Titanium-Themes which uses TitaniumListView.
For support to special-cpr-Themes: Later versions perhaps.
TitaniumRSS is free!!! If you downloaded it from somewhere else,and you have paid for it - fetch your money back and download it free from here or htc-developers.de. I would be delighted about a coffee - but I don't develop here too earn money.
If you want to post TitaniumRSS somewhere else: only with quoting the Text beneath
Changelog:
1.1:
- Added more Backgroundprocesses to fill Panels, so:
- Faster turning Overview-Panel
- Fast changing FullView-Item-Overview
- Faster animations
- Now you can change the number of Items in a Feed -> Titanium.ini: maxitems (Recommended: 5,10,15,20,...)
- Turning backwards in Page1 of Overview - you will get to last feed
- Turning forwards from Last Feed - you will get to Page1 in Full View
- Improved Background-Process-Handling
- Restore last TitaniumRSS.ini
- Feed-Reader deletes old items after changing maxitems
- showing Feednumber in Item-Title in Full View
- some little bugfixes
- ..much more little things
Features 1.0:
- up to 96 Feeds
- On-The-Fly-Switching between Preview (Stndard-Titanium) and FulView (special cpr for TitaniumRSS - using your Titanium-Style!!!)
- All Panels animated
- All common Resolutions: QVGA, WQVGA,VGA,WVGA
- Most of Icons are Buttons!!! No need for controlling TitaniumRSS by Contextmenu - except for Updating the Feeds and toggling View (see Post #2)
- Nevertheless of course: Contextmenus according to current Page
- Possibility to jump direct into Feed online
- Pssibility to read Feed-Text OFFLINE in Browser for HTML-Feeds
- 2 different skins possible byOn-he-fly-Switching (e.g. JMLToday-Skins!)
- developed in C, C++ and Mortscript
- for all Standard-Titanium-Themes
- Feeds can be stored in Internal Storage (recommended: direct in Internal Storage folder, TitaniumRSS wilm create automatically "TitaniumRSSFeeds" as Subdirectory - later the Skins will rely on this directory and TitaniumRSS will make all full-automatic)
- Secure switch to FullView -your original system (.cpr) will never be touched of TitanumRSS
- Fallback mechanism to switch back to Preview Mode - even after uninstalling
- much more.. find it out...
Limitations of V 1.0:
- App-Language: english - langage support will come later
- Skin-Support wll also come later, if much more wishes are implemented - makes more sense. But then: n the fly-switchng between Skins
- Feed-Text-Size up to 1 MB (that's large enough for 98% of all feeds for beginning)
- Item-Count: Hardcoded to 10 Items in V1.0 - will be maked flexible in one of the next updates -> no more in V1.1
Installation:
Please consider at first:
There is "CAN" and "MUST".
But everything except from TitaniumRSS.cab has to be done only one time. Afterwards it's enough to update only TtitaniumRSS itself.
One warning: Never update or uninstall TitaniumRSS in FullView -because that's not your original cpr - but if you forgot it - no problem -read the FAQs
CAN be made :
- Install JMLToday *Download JMLToday* and JMLLibrary >=0.3*Download JMLLibrary* for Comm-Manager-Functionalities.
TitaniumRSSwill see while analysation, that JMLTodayis installed and will set it as Top-Plugin in FullView instead of CClock.
- in Post #2 yu will find a special TitaniumRSS-Skin for JMLToday (animated digital clock already for 5.4 and upper) - which suits to Black design of TitaniumRSS. With Reanalysation you can make it that it'snly in FullView and youcan use another skin in norml Titanium-Mode ("Preview")
MUST (one time) :
- Mortscript 4.2 *Download Mortscript 4.2*
- JMLPanex >= 0.99 / better 1.0 *Download JMLPanex* ,that Titanium-Buttons are working
Installation newest Version of TitaniumRSS :
- if youhavea previous Versin ofTitaniumRSS: Switch to Preview Mode!!! (otherwise don't complain - read FAQs
-also ifyouhave a previous Version ofTitaniumRSS: Save your TitaniumRSS.ini. You will be asked to use former .ini while installing,but if you would say accidently "no"...
- Install TitaniumRSS - .cab into MAIN STORAGE like each Titanium Plugin
during install:
-- as directory for Feeds choose DIRECT "Internal Storage" when you are asked. TitaniumRSS will create subfolder ""TitaniumRSSFeeds" (will be later used also for Skins)
-- If Window for Analysation appears - only press Start -TitaniumRSS will need app. 2 seconds to analyse and clone yoursystem and inject the FullMod-Panels. If successfull - window will close automatic.
Handling:
To manage your Feeds - only edit the TitaniumRSS.ini in Installation Directory of TitaniumRSS ( \program files\TitanumRSS )
A later Version will make this by Menu, but not for now.
So please have a look - the Value "Hinterster Feed" must set to the number of the last Feed, you have set in TitaniumRSS.ini
I think it's self-explaininghow to manage your Feeds.
Therefore that Windows Mobile is still Beta and TitaniumRSS uses muchFunctions of titanium - if there are any issues -please tell me your Build,too.I hope we can all get rid of this issues if Final WinMo 6.5 is released.
Credits goes to:
- My Beta-Testers!!! Thank you - so we know that 1.0 is stable!

It was really hard work - especially to get the right basicconcept, whichcan be later expanded to all the wishes. Which canbe used easy and intuitive. Which is deep integrated in your Titanium.
Download: *click here to download TitaniumRSS* or click on the attachment (it's the same)
I hope you like it -

Short description & FAQs & suitable JMLTodaySkin for TitaniumRSS
Short description:
I think I made it intuitive to control TitaniumRSS.
After install you are inPreview Mode - youcan toggle between Preview - and FullView by Menu. In FullView you get 4 new "Sub-"Plugins with bigger size to read the RSS full - in Preview Mode you can read the Beginnings of each Text, to know, if it's interesting at the moment.
The most things (exept Buttons) can be done with the Buttons in the Plugin - thank JMLPanex.
I made to graphics to explain:
PreviewMode:
FullViewMode:
To choose which feeds you want to have - in V1.0 you have to edit the TitaniumRSS.ini. One example for a feed-entry:
Code:
[Feed1]
shortname=XDA-Devs all
url=http://forum.xda-developers.com/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=260
maxitems=10
includepics=0
offlineReading=0
marked=0
updated=1
updating=0
I think it's self-explaining - but: maxitem,inludepics,offlineReading has no effect in 1.0 - it's enough to change shortname and url
And the Number of the Feed of course
And here's the settings, also in TitaniumRSS.ini:
Code:
[General]
FeedPath=\Interner Speicher\TitaniumRSSFeeds
HintersterFeed=19
[Settings]
TurnAnimationDelay=170
FlipAnimationDelay=190
PanexPath=\Programme\JMLPanex
TextSignsPerLine=48
FullTextSignsPerLine1=42
FullTextSignsPerLine2=50
TextLines=4
FullTextLines1=3
FullTextLines2=5
You can play around with the animation speed - but please tell me, what would be better for your device.
And one important thing: Please set "Hinterster Feed" to the number of the last feed you have set. e.g. your last feed is [feed19] - set it to HintersterFeed=19
This will be in a later done automatically by Config-Menuin in a later version of TitaniumRSS. I think it's not too hard for now
FAQs:
Where's the suitable MLToday-Skin in "Black Beauty-Style"?
Look at bottom of this Post
If have updated/uninstalled TitaniumRSS and see red crosses now or "Install now"...
...andyou have forget to say, that you didn't read Post #1
You have updated/reinstalled in FullView - and so you uninstaled your current view. But never mind: In "Internal Storage\TitaniumRSSFeeds\Internals" you will find the 'trssSwitchback.mscr' - it won't be uninstalled - click on it to switch back.
If you have reinstalled TitaniumRSS (e.g. new Version) in FullMode - you would see this "install now"- but you have already a Link inStartmenu->Utilities->TitaniumRSS->"TitaniumRSS Preview" to switch back.
If you deleted all that, too... TitaniumRSS never changes your .cpr -and so: With CHOME-Editor look into ExtensibilityXML and replace CPRFileName="TitaniumRSS" with CPRFileName="Titanium"
only english?
yes - choose of language is prepared, but not active. Later version.
But your feeds can have each language you like But Signs-wrapping is needed in later version for speciallanguage to read 'em better
I see HTML-Code insome feeds
Yes -there'saneed of aHTML-Wrapper. There's nothing free-soIhave write it sometimes. Meanwhile youhave the option inFullView inContextmenu "Read HTML in Browser(offline)" - your Default Browser will show the Text without connectiong to internet.
Which options are to update?
You can mark each fead in Main-Plugin - only by tapping on text - nd afterwards "Update Marked Feeds" in Context Menu
Or "Mark All" and Update Marked feeds... would update all
Or a single feed - in PReview or Full View you have the option in Context-Menu to update only this feed
What means blue,red and green progress-Bars?
Blue= While updating marked feeds -the progress of complete update
Red=Single/current Update: checking & establishing internet connection
Green=Single/current Update: Internet connected - download and handling Feed
I use sometimes WLAN to update - will my device be disconnected while updating much feeds, because of suspend?
No - Suspend is during Updating Feeds disabled Only Backlight is going down to save energy.
The animations stuck sometimes
Titanium cannot display .gif's. So I use .png-Motion Try to change setting to get it better. I will make some caching to improve it later on, too.
And also: Pay attention, that you don't have 24/7-Mortscripts running in your system - the slow down your whole Titanium - TitaniumRSS doesn't use 24/7-Mortscripts.
Nothing works / I get error messages
You have install JMLPanex and Mortscript?
Some Feeds aren't shown
You've made actualizaion for FullMode with Button?
You have set "HintersterFeed" in TitaniumRSS.ini correct?
You use a Standard-Titanium-Theme - nothing with BronzeListView?
I would like to have a bigger Rad-Panel and/or bigger Sizes of Letters
You could made it manually by editing the trssinstall_insert.plg andReanalyse your Theme. But later on, TitaniumRSS will support Skinning - and there will be muchdifferent outfits - how yo like it. But please tell me your wishes -and if somebodywants to skin - please tell me, too. I'm no good Skinner - I'm a stupid developer
What's the secret of the On-the-Fly-change?
I have developed an analyser,which clones your system (onlyyour resolution ) and injects new panels in this clone. Like a flexible ATPluginInstaller
I like TitaniumRSS and I have some wishes for features
Tell me here in the Thread
Suitable JMLToday-Skin for TitaniumRSS:
Remakr: With ReanalyseTheme in Preview you transfer this Skin to FullView. And afterwards changing the Skin in Previewwould give you 2 different JMLToday-Skins
Here's a Screenshot (But the numbers are now similiar to the TitaniumRSS-numbers - thanx Vinsos) :
Download attached jmlToday_TitaniumRSS1_by_Micha.CAB and
clockTitaniumRSS1.CAB
and install it in Preview Mode,choose this Skin by JMLTody-Context-Menu
The former initial Post for stating this Project- you can still answer the questions:
Hi 2 all,
Changed State: Now under Beta-Test by the Tester
I'm about to make a Titanium Plugin for RSS (my external RSS-Reader is to powerful... and too ... external ) - therefore TitaniumRSS - but I don't won't to develop at cross-purposes - and need to know, which things would be needful for you, if you have a RSS-Reader direct in Titanium.
Of course each "professional User" - who always reads RSS, will use his external RSS-Reader - but on the other hand, an integration would be very useful - for me too
I already knows how it should looks like and some parts of it are implemented (The Parts who could be changed or skinned, are controlled by MortScript, the other parts C++)
But I need a little time - I'm busy at the moment,too, and want to make an private Beta phase before publishing - and need some Testers,too.
Goals:
- very nice looking
- using the features of Titanium
- adaptable to all Skins/Themes/Resolutions/Languages
- easy to use
- stay as long in Titanium if senseful (offline-reading in Titanium)
- much more
But to achieve this and your goal - I need a Feedback, and it would be kind, if you'd answer some questions and could support your own style.
And how much of you would like to have a TitaniumRSS (otherwise I would develop it for me )
It would help me to get a priority of TitaniumRSS development.
Here's the questions (only copy and answer in this thread here)
How much RSS feeds do you usually read? (please make a difference between often used and seldom used Feeds)
How often do you read RSS Feeds?
Would you read some RSS Feeds more often, if it's direct integrated in Titanium?
How important is for you (you can take 1-10, 10=very important, or free text answer):
- offline reading?
- integration in your skin?
- skinable for your personal use?
- cool outfit?
- Storage use?
- "Keyword"-Search? (Notification if a special word or phrase is in a new Feed-Item.
- Possibility to direct call of Links which are mentioned in a Skin?
- Look at the pictures of a feed? (chooseable)
Which Resolution has your device? (VGA, QVGA,...)

This might work for low-volume updated RSS, but if you have at least medium traffic, imagine the amount of notifications...
This might be more a bugger than actually using the external reader.

Would you like to be Beta-Tester for your Resolution/Titanium-Skin for TitaniumRSS? yes please
@adwinp: Yes - you're right - that's all the things, I also thought about - but for every problem there's a solution. The storage of feeds will be in Internal Storage of course - and everybody knows,how "big" the Feeds should be - and there will be maximum borders for the single elements, which are chooseable.
The size of a feed - yes - that's everybody's own decision - but if I will see a need later on - I could make a compression, too.
I want a Reader, which fills the gap between a rudimentary reader and a professional external Reader - so that a "seldom-Feed-Reader-Users also like a Continous-Very-often-Feed-Reader-User gets his own benefits. Like the purposes between - Preview, complete Reading, some other things - all with the possible capabilities of Titanium - and Titanium has really much more capabilities, than we already use. And what's important for me - eye-candy
You will see it in next JMLToday-Version - and also in TitaniumRSS.
But for some things I need a little input - therefore the question for the cpr's.
And notifications - it will be adaptable to the own preferences (I also would be nerved by to much notifications)
@saf100792: Cool outfit = eye candy.. sorry
Thanx for the .cpr - very helpful. I will write you, when I have the first testable version (depends on job work at the moment)
@michd43: Thank you too for the cpr and the answer. Will contact you, too.
Thank you for your help with the answers!
I would need another resolutions-cpr's - and somebody,who uses BronzeListView (Active Panel is not centered in this style -so you'd see, that you use this) and could make Beta-Tester.

Little Roadmap and status:
Like johncmolyneux said:
Which other wishes/requirements/ideas would you have for TitaniumRSS? Just spend time making the fundamentals work really really well and smooth
Click to expand...

yes - and that's a lot of work The Plugin is already more complicated than the most other Titanium Plugins - and that's only for the Basics. But I will take my time (at the moment very much work at office) - to make it to a good first basic Beta for all Beta-Testers above this Post.
And: It won't brick your phone Secure things will be made in C++ - the others will be transparent by MortScript - but I will make very much with your Titanium-System - but without overwriting some of the original system files... so it will be secure. But it's hard to do that in some cases - so I need a little more time.
What will come at first for Beta Testers:
- only English language
- default skin (... ok... I will change a... little bit But don't be afraid - no effect on original system)
- but all Resolutions (I'm sorry if Beta1 wouldn't work properly - this is the point, I can't test before - but therefore I will need the Beta1, too)
- Button-Support for easy handling (will be the first trial which don't run only on VGA)
- Preview & Full-Read-Mode
-... some more...
And when this runs stable, then I will think about, how I will go with more Beta Tests or a Beta Release for all.
Then would come (perhaps) - with the time:
- Multilanguage support
- special characters (greek )
- picture support
- offline support
- JMLToday-Interaction
- direct search function 4 adding feeds
- OPML-Import
- switchable Skins
- autoupdate (which should be set seperate for each Feed, to save bandwidth and can be perfect adapted to your needs)
- Support for some other Skins than Default Titanium (already prepared)
- podCast Support
- ...much more - because of your answers and some more ideas.
But at first - I only like Betas, which are running stable - also in Beta-Tests for only some people - so I need a little more time to send it to you - some things at office made me very busy last time (and JMLToday together with JMHL is still another important project, where you can expect very nice things, too).
Thanx for the Beta-Testing in advance and the feedback to get this roadmap.
I will write all Beta-Testers if I have a first stable Version to test - I have ~70% for it at the moment.

Thanks a lot,this is a great idea.Will make titanium perfect
Thanx for the further feedbacks!
I thought about sending TitaniumRSS to all Beta-Testers to check the Preview-Features... but I'm very near to the Preview+Full-Basic-Features- and so I will implement the rest of the basics and then I will send it to you afterwards.
I've have coded some new things for TitaniumRSS.. and then I mentioned, that I made also something quite similar than ATPlugIn-Installer and On-the-fly-Skin-Changer in one Program (and full-automatic). That could replace the unflexible way, how TitaniumPlugins&Styles/Themes/Skins have to be installed at the moment. The C++-Programm needs only ~2 seconds to analyse the Titanium,injecting new Panels and activating Panels for special Themes. And that without affecting the running Titanium system... but that would be a new project - and I'm short of time because of developing TitaniumRSS, JMLToday/Library, checking Panex and some other things - and so it would be too much for me in the moment.
But to use it in TitaniumRSS will be a nice feature for all the users
I will still (but for later versions) need some Beta-Testers for other Themes than standard. Only to know, which Themes can be "injected" by TitaniumRSS - and that it looks nice - or which adaptions are needed.
Usually a Titanium-Theme (better said: the author of a theme) has to do work to overtake a new Plugin into its (his) Style. This won't be necassary for TitaniumRSS - TitaniumRSS will overtake the theme (without changing its origins)
The RSS-Reeding runs already fine in TitaniumRSS - some friends of mine saw it already on my device - because of its animations you see it quite easy (but they won't get it at the moment )
Stay tuned - and the more answers I get to the questions, the better I can plan the Roadmap further on (Beta-Testers but only for other Titanium-Themes than Standard further more)

There are many task managers floating around out there, with lots of neat features and great UIs. I've been looking for a good replacement for the HTC Task Manager home screen button that no longer works properly in Windows Mobile 6.5.x, and I've been unable to find one I really like. So I made my own!

ArkSwitch can be opened from any screen that has the top bar visible - I tried to make it simple yet unobtrusive.
You can click the text of an app to bring it to the foreground, click the icon to view the App Info screen, or click the "X" image to close it.
Please see the changelog in the second post.

I ASK FOR YOUR HELP:
If you are using ArkSwitch in your ROM, please post a message here telling me so. I would really like to know. Also, if you make themes, please post them here for everyone else to enjoy. I would appreciate that.
Also, if you're a developer and would like to help with implementing any features, I'd be glad to accept your patches, changesets, etc.
HOW TO USE:
1. Install the CAB.
2. Either reboot (it will run on startup) or start it from the start menu --> Tools.
3. Click the left half of the top bar (or other area if customized) to bring it up.

TODO/WISH LIST FOR FUTURE VERSIONS:
Possibly add Alt-Tab-like functionality for switching to other apps using a HW button
Add free or used RAM percentage, in parentheses or configurable
Possibly take over X button to close apps instead of minimizing? Maybe even the start button?
As possible alternative to the above, have second activation field that kills foreground apps
Prevent ArkSwitch from turning on when device is locked
Possibly add an icon bar for common tasks on top?
Suggestions?
WILL NOT LIKELY HAPPEN:
Making ArkSwitch into a service - it's pointless - see this post
WM6.5 compatibility mode:
In case you don't want ArkSwitch to take over your top bar, you can disable that functionality and thereby have it function as a standard app. In this mode, the original WM6.5 should also be fully functional. To enable this mode, either do it in the Options screen, or manually set the following Registry value:
[HKCU\Software\ARKconcepts\ArkSwitch]
TaskbarTakeover = 0 (DWORD)
Thanks Ark
Great Work
Can I use program with soft-buttons? And can i remove it from bar? Because i'm using WKTask at same plañe?
P.S. Òû ðóññêèé?
Yes, you can use the program with softkeys. You can select apps by using the D-Pad and then the left softkey to close it or the right softkey to open a menu which will let you switch to it, close it, view the about screen, or quit ArkSwitch.
The only way to "remove" ArkSwitch from the top bar is to close it. One of the main reasons I chose the top bar is ease of access. If something else goes there, then this app can't be accessed easily anymore. I've never used WkTask, but from what I'm reading about it, it looks like the two apps would be incompatible with each other, sorry
P.S. I speak Russian as I'm originally from Ukraine. Please don't use CP1251 for Russian encoding, US browsers don't like it Unicode is better.
looks great! but QVGA please ??
Rows were overlapping eachother.
The the program crashed when I chose exit from the menu and I was forced to soft-reset.

I was wrong in my question. Can I put the launch ArkSwitch on softkey?
(My english very bad, isn't it?)
working good
so far so good on my Whitestone (Imagio) 6.5
1. question- is my regular taskmanager (upper most right hand corner) still supposed to function? bc i loose the little icon and get no response from pressing there. wasn't sure from your description if they both were supposed to function at the same time.
2. my device is wvga and i did not have overlap issues like a previous post.
3. the x's all work good and switching between apps works good.
4. pressing softkey\menu\quit arkswitch exits the program and it has to be restarted. "X"ing the upper right minimizes? is that correct?
5. oh yeah- and touching the upper left is working good to open ArkSwitch.
6. Thank you. I have been looking for a simple solution for a finger friendly task manager.
Really quick program, working pretty good!
I do have 2 requests though, which would make it perfect
I am on a 6.5.3 wvga device and I have some icons overlapping the text... maybe you can crop/stretch all icons to a specific size?
and another request, could you implement a way to exclude processes from showing in arkswitch? like start.exe etc?
Really well done so far!

Obviously you didn't read my first two posts. This application is NOT for the original WM6.5! Only for 6.5.x, where the start and X keys are on the bottom of the screen. However, if you'd like to use it as a regular task manager started by a hardware button or something similar, that could be done in the future through an options screen, which is also on the list.

1. ArkSwitch does not touch the right half of the taskbar at all. I'm not sure which task manager you're using, though.
2. Right, because you're actually using WM6.5.x as opposed to toadlife...

4. Correct. Would you like me to add an "Are you sure?" dialog when quitting?
5. Yay!

Hmm, I guess if an icon is bigger than I tested with, it would overlap. I'll add that to the list. Can you give me an example of which app(s) had overlapping icons please?
Excluding processes is already on the TODO list.
Yeah, starting the program multiple times doesn't always bring it to the front. You have to have opened the ArkSwitch window at least once before it could do that. I'm not sure why that's happening; I'll look into it some more. It's definitely a bug that should be fixed.

I've customized some "iReflect" icons with "JWMD Icon Changer".
hope this helps.
Are you sure that the overlapping icons are the customized ones? Because it looks like JWMD only changes the start menu icons, while ArkSwitch looks inside the actual EXE to find its icon.

A. I misunderstood "for 6.5.x" as meaning 6.5 and above. Just to let you know i am running plain old 6.5 and my start button still works in the upper left corner.
B. The ArkSwitch button works as well in the upper left corner.
C. Maybe 6.5 compatibility explains why the original task manager doesn't function with ArkSwitch?
4. I would definitely would not want you to add an "are you sure". I hate those.
Hope the feed back helps and is not annoying.

First Impressions
I just discovered this app and thought I'd leave my first impressions. Here goes...
At first go it's just what I've been looking for: a simple checklist app. It seems to be just that. I wouldn't say it's immediately intuitive, but with some messing around I picked up the basic routine. As with all things, with a little more playing around it will become 2nd nature. You should be aware, however, that the screen doesn't render properly in landscape (my phone is a TP2 [WVGA] see details in sig). As such, I couldn't confirm compatibility with the hard keyboard on my device.
Also, something to consider for future development, would be a way to create a link for a specific list that can be placed in one's calendar/appt editor. This probably takes away from the simplicity aspect, but that would be really slick!
I'll play with it some more throughout the week, but for simplicity's sake I like what you've put together -- at least on 1st impressions. Thanks for sharing!
thank you very much for your comments

May I leave some friendly feedback?
(I'm going to assume you said "yes"...)
First of all, allow me to repeat that this is a great little app. Simple and useful. Further, you have shared it with us freely, and I'm the first to acknowledge "beggars can't be choosy." With this in mind, I offer the following...
The boot time is too slow. One would think that given how light-weight this app is, it should load much like an immediate toggle on/toggle off application. While you're deserving of the credit appearing in your 'welcome'/'boot' screen, perhaps eliminating this feature would speed the load time? Even if it would not speed the load, I would like to see the Category menu straight away without an extra screen to pass through.
Second, it would be nice if Categories, and not just Items, could be saved to the vault. (Am I missing something?) It would be nice to create a simple template to the vault, then be able to copy a version to the active menu which could be applied as needed. Make sense?
Lastly, would it be possible to move the command bar down a centimeter or so? That way 4 full Category/Item panels could be visible w/o having to scroll up/down. I understand it's placed to accommodate ergonomic thumb usage, but to see 4 full Item panels, as opposed to 3 1/2, would be worth the slight stretch...
I'm really looking forward to a WVGA version as I'll be able to use the keyboard on my TP2, which would make this even MORE useful!
Once again, many thanks!!!
p.s. - There's also a couple of spelling errors in the menu guides. 'Aproove' comes to mind right off. ('Approve' is correct) However, your English is far superior to my Greek, so I have no room to criticize...

The boot time is extremely slow... Its not my fault... This programming language is slow (even a "Hello world" takes 3-4 secs to load)
In the new version you have the option to disable the splash screen

...not bad, I'm also think about this topic...but, keep in mind the important issue: "small and easy".
I think, these is the most benefit from this app, so any new features should be aware of this point before added.
(MASPWARE Checklist, as example, looks nice, but you could be very easily lost in categories and items in up to 4 stages of deep)
But you're right, there are some improvents possible - let's see, what others will say and give Dadi68 a chance to enjoy the summer before making a version 3.0...

Yes, a category full of items: a template. For example, a simple agenda template...
A template of the user's own design could be kept in the vault. In my case, there are occasions when I don't need to use a full appointment editor; I just need to keep a running list of contacts and times for any given day. Instead of retyping the time increments over and over, a blank agenda is always at the ready!
Although, this brings up another issue for me:
Whenever I attempt to edit one of the time slots on my agenda template, I get the warning seen in the pic above. I have the current-most NETCF v35 on my device, in addition to the NET CF v35 Messages.EN.wm .cab: am I missing anything? If I click 'yes' I'm able to continue and add a contact to a time slot, but the error message repeats with each edit.
Looking for ward to watching your app evolve -- Thanks!

Yes, of course. I would be happy to. Check your PMs and I'll attach a Word document with a complete list. Although, from what I've observed there are only a few minor things...
NotepadWS ver 2.7
NotepadWS is a notepad-like application with TABS feature and some interesting tools such as the WEB SEARCH.
The Web Search (context menu) allows you to get google, wiki or dictionary contents about the word or text selected from NotepadWS,
it could be a good way to perform your search quickly and easily!
FEATURES
- Edit up to four different text files in the same session.
- Switch from one tab to another with just one click.
- Ability to add or remove tool bars at any time.
- Configure each tab separately.
- Online search of selected word or text; google search, wiki search, dictionary.
ver 2.0
- Open and Save dialogs totally redesigned to be more useful and finger-friendly
- Settings page added
ver 2.55
- File association works propely
- Max file size supported increased
- Word-wrap options added
- Copy and paste between different tabs added
- Cmd ExitAll added
- File and Folder Shortcuts feature added
- Start folder option added (if left blank, the folder of last file used is taken)
- Single click option added
- Font and color customization tool added
- Ability to have tabs with different properties (font, colors, start folder, etc)
- Tab character enabled (by pressing tab button you get column alignment)
ver 2.57
- Overwrite related bug fixed
- Read-only related bug fixed
ver 2.7
- External clipboard functions added

Now NotepadWS allows to configure and save the properties of each tab,
so you can have 4 tabs completely different one from another;
each tab has its own font type, size, style and color, background color,

Instead, if you prefer to configure all the tabs in the same way, you don't need
the repeat the setup more times, just setup one and check "apply to all tabs"
in the settings page.
Requirements
- Windows Mobile 5.0 or later
- Touchscreen device

Hello,
Your program is very interesting, but I can not use just one problem you encounter, and it is important: only lets you open documents in the folder "my documents" in the main memory device. You should modify the program to allow open and save files in any folder on the device memory and the external memory card.
I have not tested whether extensions can also be associated with your program to automatically open when clicking those files from the file explorer program.
If I could use it widely, as I need, I would donate a sum of money for it, in that there is a problem.
Sincerely,

Hello,
True, I had not noticed having to click twice (or press "enter") to run this option to access all folders on the device.
What if I notice that you can not open large files, not size, but more than 100 KB can not be with them.
Nor could I see if you can associate text files "txt" to open this program directly from file explorer.
Sincerely,
Hello,
I've been testing the program further NotepadWS, which I consider a good application, but there are two problems with it:
I have seen two important issues that prevent me from replacing AgileNotesTouch, which is what I use now, for NotepadWS:
1 .- NotepadWS not allow it to associate with files by extension, to boot automatically with this application. For example, if you associate files "txt" with NotepadWS ... file does not start with "txt" open.
2 .- I do not know NotepadWS maximum size allowed, but a file of 100 KB or more does not open properly. AgileNotesTouch allows very large files sizes, without problems.
It is important that NotepadWS could solve these two problems.
Sincerely,

Hello Xdait,
Now he has been magnificent NotepadWS v2.5 program. Only one small detail I see in my device (VGA) and is the icon of your program in the file explorer leaves very large, so you see only a quarter of the icon ... only that detail.
I just made a donation through PayPal by using the program, as I indicated. I hope you get well.
Sincerely,
Looks interesting, just what i was looking for. Any chance for WQVGA in future?
Thank you a lot JCM!
2.5 -> 2.51
- Now app memorizes the folder of last file used for the next launch
- File shortcuts list added, to open registered files with just one click
QVGA version, probably i will do it, but don't know exactly about the time i need

@xdaid, appreciate the effort you've put in to this app so far. It has a lot of promise.
I've been playing with it off and on since the 2.0 release. It has not replaced me using AgileNotes (which has its own set of issues for me) on a regular basis, but I look forward to the possibility.
Here are my suggestions and please note I understand you have a life and your own set of requirements when you code, so I know maybe none of these comments might be used...
1. if you can support PWI files
2. if you can handle files with carriage return + linefeed end of line terminator (eg, DOS, windows based text files). Right now, files with CR+LF show up as unprintable characters
3. if you can allow for a default file folder on startup. Use the file shortcut UI you just implemented and apply it to select default, and/or favorite folders. I see you've just implemented it to memorize the last used folder, that is a good start and should be retained unless a default folder is specified.
4. allow for a default file type (eg, TEXT, LOG, etc). Currently always defaults to TEXT when you restart the app.
5. suggest adding or putting an EXIT APP type selection/option in your "cmd" CLOSE action list. Right now it has "X" to only close the active tab, but you have to go to the MAIN MENU to exit the app. Just does not seem intuitive in my opinion.
6. allow the user to select a default background color, font size, and font color if possible (to override system defaults). I realize this suggestion may be difficult or out of scope.
Future wish list, knowing it would likely require extra effort as you may not have the development environment to test on:
a. support the newer WM 6.5.x layout with the STARTMENU and "X" button on the bottom of the screen, or at least detect you are running on the newer versions and keep that bottom bar accessible.
b. use a better file selection UI. Right now, at least on my device, you have to tap on the actual scroll bar to scroll. It should be smooth and fluid like some of the default file selection interfaces in AgileNotes or even Resco File Explorer.
c. allow similar option like Resco or Total Commander for double or single tap to open a directory or file in your selection UI.
Again, thank you for the time and effort you have invested in to this application thus far.

@xdaid. Sweet! Did a quick test run, and seems you incorporated many of my suggestions. Nice work so far.
Only major concern right now is:
- allowing up/down scroll gestures in the file selection UI without actually having to tap directly on the scroll bars. Trying to do a scroll gesture typically selects the item your finger first lands on - basically seems the filename/directory listing of that UI reacts to single tap picking only.
Other than that, my left overs from my prior wish list post are still items:
(1) pwi support and (a) winmo 6.5.x UI support
Again those are not critical, just something for down the road - if even possible.
It's pretty close to being my daily editor and that's saying a lot. Keep up the great work.
Please re-download 2.55 cab installer
i forgot to include a small bug fix, now the cab is updated.
@ powinmo: scroll gesture in file selection UI should not be a problem, i will implement it soon.
Instead, pwi support could be quite hard to realize, i have some ideas about how
extract text from / save text to pwi files. Just ideas so far, but i can try..
regards
Thx for update works a treat

@xdaid - appreciate your continued work on the app! Looking forward to seeing that file selection UI more usable and closer to how others UIs act.
As for pwi support, I would put that priority at the very bottom and address any other items you feel are more important.
I do have one additional request after using your app a bit more now:
- add the ability to recognize a scroll up/down gesture versus highlighting text when editing. Right now, when you try to do that the editor strictly acts as if you want to mark text for an action (eg, copy, looking, etc). To scroll through a long document, you have to literally tap on the scroll bar versus the natural inclination of using a gesture.
Other than that, I'm almost sold on trying to the app as my regular editor. Thank you for being so receptive to user comments and suggestions!
For those who like to use the tab character to get fixed spaces / column alignment:
I added a 2.56 version, it's the same as 2.55 but tab character is enabled.

Hello Stefano,
I think your application becomes an application program is essential to our Windows Mobile devices. You've got an editor and text file reader very versatile and practical, ingenious solutions. Thanks for your good program.
Sincerely,
I've been looking for a nice notepad app for a while now, this looks pretty nice . Thanks for sharing!
I have a bit of a request: would you consider adding file 'scheme' functionality. Say you are looking a reg file, the 'scheme' would highlight certain predefined key words or phrases making it more readable. The same could then be true for .xml, .mscr or any other file that can be read by notepad. You think that would be doable?
Hello
I liked the idea of an ActionScreen ever since I met with this program for a first time (it was on a Sense 2.1 stock ROM so it was really handy). ActionScreen is a simple application which shows the user a screen with 12 (sometimes more) shortcuts which can start/toggle frequently used programs or functions.
But as I am a Rhodium owner, I always had problem with Landscape orientation. The Smaberg's ActionScreen was showing only 2 rows of icons in Landscape or wasn't showing at all. So with the encouragement by Jackos I started to develop my own application based very much on the original idea of the 12-icon ActionScreen from Smaberg. As I am definitely not a programmer I started to learn Basic4PPC for a starter. Then, after I discovered how many environment restrictions it gives I switched to C#.
What I present here is a version which has full Landscape support (the app will run without problems in Landscape and will change it's layout properly even if there will be an orientation change while program is shown).
* NEW * - The whole app has been rewritten from scratch. Also changed to the C# + NetCF. This has not solved all of my memory problems but allowed me to improve on many other fields. The details are in the change log in post #2.
* NEW 2* - I added a VGA version of my ActionScreen. Special thanks to xOverkill who encouraged me to start working on VGA and then provided a great help with testing on Raphael.
With this version you can easily customise each link function by changing command and parameter in:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Skrobel\ActionScreen\LinkXX]
where "XX" is a number of the icon starting with 00 to 11.
You can change the icons as well (all the graphic files are stored in program folder). From v0.5 you can also change the colors of the background (at the moment only solid colours are supported) and the label texts.
And last but not least you can change the text of the labels under each icon in the same place in registry. This can come in handy when you want to change the language for instance.
There is a small readme.txt file attached to this post where I put a brief description of the settings/configuration possiblilities.
DOWNLOADS ARE IN POST #2
Unfortunately some problems have been solve and some not:
- I have problems to effectively dispose the resources upon program minimization. The C# or NetCF uses Garbage Collector for all the disposed controls/images, so the app memory does not decrease when it's minimized (and is about 1300 kB). I can't find a way to do it better
- the WinCE and WinMo environment doesn't support a "minimize form" event. So I used a little trick to override native Windows.Forms.Hide with SW_MINIMIZE imported from coredll.dll. Buuut this doesnt really minimize the app, but only get the window behind all other windows, but in front of Titanium or TodayScreen. That's why I suggest using this app ONLY on Sense/TF3D enabled ROMs or otherwice you will se my app instead of the TodayScreen
- Because of the above my app is visible also during system startup until Sense/TF3D is fully loaded
Actually I found a solution for SW_MINIMIZE (it was easier than I thought). So for now my only concern is to make the app less memory consuming and possible yet faster.
Soooo, if any of you guys could help me to improve the app (especially the memory management) I can share all my current experience as well as the source code. HELP PLEASE
Enjoy! Any feedback is welcome. I will try to improve as soon as my programming knowledge raises Or of course when someone agrees to help me
# CHANGE LOG:
22.05.2011 - v0.6
+ Added version for VGA resolution
+ Minor bugfixes concerning exceptions and image handling.
+ Added a new setting "ShowOnHTCKeyboard" enabling ActionScreen to show up when the hardware keyboard is open (refer to readme for more information)
- still high memory usage when idle (currently approx. 1300 kB) - looking for a better way to dispose resources during minimize
10.05.2011 - v0.5
+ Rewritten from scratch once again to avoid unnecessary code
+ much faster to load/unload/appear/disappear
+ AppToDate support (thanks for the tips Jackos)
+ Both landscape modes support (right- and left-handed). The app will now follow the GUI
+ Added "splash screen" during first load for eye-friendliness before system boots completely
+ Added possibility to change background and text colors (although not very comfortable at the moment)
+ Changed the settings location in registry to a more proper place. Therefore you need to uninstall the previous version manually before installing v0.5
- still high memory usage when idle (currently approx. 1250 kB) - looking for a better way to dispose resources during minimize
13.02.2011 - v0.3 - quick bugfix version
+ Fixed SW_MINIMIZE so that app minimizes instead of going to back
+ support for non-Sense interfaces (Today Screen and Titanium tested)
+ the app starts almost unnoticeably during system startup
- still high memory usage when idle (currently approx. 1300 kB) - looking for a better way to dispose resources during minimize
13.02.2011 - v0.2
+ Whole application rewritten from scratch in C# + NET CF 3.5
+ commands, parameters, paths to the images are now stored in registry
look into: [HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\Biotouch\ActionScreen]
+ also item names are now stored in registry for easy language changing
+ the app is loaded in the memory during system startup and it's maximised upon calling
- high memory usage when idle (currently approx. 1300 kB) - looking for a better way to dispose resources during minimize
- uneffective SW_MINIMIZE method
- only TF3D/Sense 2.1/Sense 2.5 compatible - it's not compatible with Titanium/Today screen
- the app is visible during system startup until Sense/TF3D is fully loaded - the SW_MINIMIZE issue
17.11.2010 - v0.1 - initial release
- Written in Basic4PPC
+ Landscape support
- Due to several reasons the app doesn't stay in memory, it's launched on each call
- no localization
- no configurations possible, the commands are hardcoded into the application
# DOWNLOADS:
For technical reasons you have to uninstall previous ActionScreen versions manually before installing v0.5. Sorry for the inconvenience.
OK, I present three versions with one tiny difference:
- Skrobel ActionScreen v*.* - it's a standard version starting when holding the PowerButton for 3 secs.
- Skrobel ActionScreen v*.*_softkey - the app is linked additionally to the left homescreen softkey in Sense (2.1 and 2.5) as showed on the last screenshot
- Skrobel ActionScreen v*.*_softkey_only - especially for p50kombi here goes a third version with only the SoftKey link and no PowerButton action
- Skrobel_AS_Blue_Icons - a set of blue "Pressed" icons for the ActionScreen. Special thanks to MrRusch for a permission to use his work which I found here.
The files are attached to this post. Enjoy
Been waiting for this.
Think you can make a version that links to softkey only and not to power button?
that would be great...Thanks.

yeah.....

Looks great, will test it .. Thank you
Skrobel, congratulations on your release.
I will be glad to test your preliminary version, let's see what you did improve since the last version I tried.
Some suggestions and tips if I may:
- Do not use text files to store settings like links etc. Registry is a more convenient method IMHO.
- Try to ensure support for more then one language.
- Do something with the loading time (I know this probably requires programming language change), quick! Like I said in our last conversation about this program, hiding the window and showing it when it's needed should help greatly.
One important question: What about ROM cooking? Are chefs allowed to cook this program into their ROMs?
Regards,
Jackos
PS What about graphics? Maybe something more TF3D/Sense like?
Thanks, I appreciate your hints and help
According to the B4PPC support forum the loading time when the app is starting from "0" will not be better at all. I did everything I could to make the app lighter (use only one external library, don't use text labels, use only only one image for the whole form). But it didn't improve the loading time much though...
I already have a version which loads into memory at system startup but it has some annoying limitations connected with the programming environment.
I.e.:
The only way to actually load all the elements (images, controls) into memory is to show the app. So at startup I must actually show the app at least for 10 ms and then trigger the "ShowTodayScreen" procedure to hide it. And during system startup any graphics I'll try to show appear incomplete and for long time (until Sense shows).
Another problem is that there is no "minimize" procedure. Only the above mentioned ShowTodayScreen which always returns to Sense. If the user would run the ActionScreen in order to run a new window (such as new SMS) it's not a problem. But if you want to trigger the BT or WiFi, returning to HomeScreen every time is annoying.
Third problem is that even when the app runs in background it still takes over 600-700 kB which I consider as large for so light image it actually is. Furthermore I noticed strange behaviour when ActionScreen is not used for longer time. It takes more and more memory over time (a memory leak?) and "refreshes" itself when it's actually called.
Buuut in this situation the form shows within half a second.
Language and GUI is on the "to do" list as soon as I will handle the above problems. Actually changing the gui is very simple (there are no graphics merged in the exe, only external ones). But I'm totally not creative when it comes to graphics. That's why I asked for help in the first post.
Finally:
Everybody is welcome to use this program in their ROMs. Just drop me a line that you plan to do it and it would be nice if you referred to this place in your ROM thread but with such small app is absolutely not demanded.
@ Skrobel Any chance of my makin' an 18-button ver, a la wedge666's offering here? He, however, doesn't have landscape support. Your app's lack of buttons is the only thing stopping me from hoppin' on-board.
The problem is that the more controls on the form, the longer time the app needs to start.
So technicaly it's possible and relatively easy, but in the current app state I would like to handle all my problems first to be able to hold the program in the memory. Then addidg or moving controls will really be easy. Plus I will add the possibility to configure the icons and programs yourself so that everybody can customise it.
Hi Skrobel,
the landscape support is a very good idea. And since i use the HD2 and the TP2 i have missed this on my HD2. But the HD2 can handle landscape with a manila tweak well. Also in combination with the CHT Suite.
We, the CHTA beta team, can help you with a layout for CHT default and for the simplicity quicklinks. That's my personal favor style.

Am I to understand that you somehow forced the original ActionScreen to work in Landscape mode? Or at least to appear on full screen?

Thank you very much for the hint. I know these icons from Seem's ROM, but I didn't know these are his design. I like them too. And the way they behave when pressed.

No, he just has a tweak in with he rotates the screen in HD2. His Action Screen doesn't support landscape ditto and that's the problem.

No i mean the team. We are around 10 guys here from XDA. And the most of them are known from other things .
Ach, we misunderstand ourselves
I meant that you where using another ActionScreen (probably from Smabergs) and it didn't work well in landscape.
Skrobel's version does work very well in both portrait and landscape.
