how to help when you're not specific about what the problem is? what do you mean by cannot install? what error msg is there? I'm using mapking on wm6.5 on a touch pro and it works fine.

My Mapking 2007 just hangs at the splashscreen. This is after I had upgraded from NAFT's 6.1to 6.5 (NRGZ28). Subsequent downgrades to NAFT's 6.1 and then upgrade to other chef's 6.5 led to me thinking..i need HTC HD2.

if you run a check on the official website MK2007 and MKR12 are temporarily not supported on WM6.5. So even if you get urself a HD2 it doesn't solve the problem you're facing. If you really need MapKing, go back to WM6.1
just in case u'r wondering when will it be supported, you have to ask MapKing developers only they have the answer. My guess is there will be a new version of MapKing for WM6.5

Oh... no wonder I can't seem to get MapKing working on my more recent ROMs. But thought I had it working just a while ago (and I was also on a WM6.5 ROM then). Unless it's only with regards to specific builds.

I am using HD 2 and I am also using mapking 2007 on my device.
in fact, i havce mapking 2007 also on my blackstone which is also running on 6.5

I am using Asus P535 with WM6.5 28005 and MapKing 2007, both work fine

Don't think that's the case for me. My MapKing's installed in 'Program Files\MapAsia\MapKing2007'. Doesn't exceed 128 characters.
Thing is I always get stuck at the splash screen.
Perhaps it's really with regards to some builds of WM6.5 since it works for some of you.

I think you don't get what I am trying to say..
Is there any file that exists in any deep directory?
For example..
\Program Files\Folder 1\Folder 2\Folder 3\Folder 4\Folder 5\Folder 6\file name...
As long as there's a file in any folder or folders that has a path name longer than 128 characters, Mapking won't work..
May I propose something..
Try to install Mapking in different location.
If you installed in device, and Mapking cannot work, try to install in Storage Card..
Or if you installed in Storage Card, try to install in device..

Uh, your 'any file' meaning any file belonging to MapKing? Or just any file in the entire phone? Cos if it's just any file belonging to MapKing, I don't think there's any that exists in a deep directory. But anyway, I'll try installing in Storage Card (since I installed in Device (though all along I've been installing in Device and it was working ok)).

Basically Mapking will search only in either 1 of the 2 places.
If it was installed in the device's memory, it will only search there.
If it was installed in the Storage Card, it will therefore search the Storage card.
Any file, not necessarily belong to Mapking.
For example, if Mapking was installed in the device's memory..and inside the device's memory have such a file with a path name more than 128 characters..
\Program Files\Ancient Literatures from the past\Best literature for leisure reading\My favourite author\This book definitely must be read\The best text that you must ever read\This text file is really very long to read.txt
The Mapking can't work..

Hey you're right! Installed it to my main microSD but it still didn't work. Then tried installing it into a spare microSD (that didn't contain any other files) and it works! Think for Device itself it might be due to the additional files from TF3D while for my main microSD, it might be due to my MP3s (cos they're stored in sub-folders). Now gotta figure out a workaround for this (cos I can't be using a separate microSD just for the MapKing).

Glad to be able to help.
Maybe you can just rename the folders or the files..
Anyway 128 characters for path name is quite enough..

Now if only there was an application that could help list down the directories/files that exceeded 128 characters...

If you installed in your main Storage Card, maybe you can use a card reader to copy all the things to your desktop pc.
Then with the Mapking installed in that main Storage card, slowly delete 1 folder by 1 folder. Until the Mapking can work.
Then you will know, which is the culprit. After that, just rename that file to another name..

Hi,
I was on Touch Cruise which comes with MapKing! R12
Just upgraded to HD2, thus installed the R12 on it.
It does not work, giving me

UK Postcodes for TOMTOM 6

HELP!
I have just installed the above on my XDAii.
Nearly everything works fine BUT I cannot get it to work on a seven digit uk postcode!
I have had a look at various threads on the forums and have tried putting the Greta_britian.postal file into the ZIP folder on my SD card and creating a folder named TOMTOM on the root of my SD card but it still does not give me a chance to enter a full seven digit postcode only the first three digits i.e. NG2.
Any ideas please
I have the same trouble!!! Whats with that?
Put the zip folder in program files/navigator and they will work. Took me a little messing to work it out, but also you may find that tomtom6 is a little heavy for the xda2 and will keep freezing requiring hard reset every time. Go to version 5.21

Hi there! YOu got this one sorted or still having probs? RSVP Steve
if you have bluetooth folders enabled, tomtom can't see the "ZIP" postcode folder on the storage card or the VOICES folder on the storage card. You can either copy the "ZIP" folder into the Navigator folder in main memory or you can disable Bluetooth Folders (start, settings connections, bluetooth, ftp)

Update ROM to required version Setup Error
I am using PDAViet Transformer 1.0.
When I install the cab, it gives a Setup Error: Unable to install application. Please update your device ROM to the required version before trying again.
Does this mean that Info Feed is tied to the Dopod Roms?
Thanks,
Alex
I did see that it checks for which device it installs to. But that can be circumvented if someone Extracts the cab and makes a new installer for it.
Sorry but it's not on my to do list.
I hope you can forgive me for that.
But you can read my "Extracting a Cab Tutorial the manual way"
Or look for that magic cab maker i'm also after that makes Cab files out of OEM packages. It's mostly text in the end that needs editing.
problem placing cache on storage card
When I set Info Feed to store its data on my storage card, then attempt to manually Update any channel, I get an error message, "Not enough storage is available to complete this operation." As long as it's set to use memory, there's no problem.
Current size of Info Feed's data = 3MB
Free program memory = 66MB
Free storage memory = 97MB
Free storage card space = 2.5GB
Obviously it's not a space limitation, per se. Cache/reg value?
Anyone know what's causing this?
@mtn_lion
I encountered the same storage problem after switching to a new 4 GB SDHC card. Info Feed worked fine on all of my other memory cards but I couldn't get it working on the new card.
I found out that there is a strange bug that causes Info Feed to display the "Not enough storage is available to complete this operation" message when there is a lot of free space available on the memory card. After copying some large files to the card Info Feed was working fine again. (At the moment I have a little more than 2GB of free space available.)
It is a stupid workaround but give it a try! It worked for me...
@HipNosis
Thanks for working that out! I'm very pleased to have an answer to the mystery. I'm not gonna waste space on my 8GB card by copying "placeholder" files, but your discovery will make me hurry up and copy more of my music to the card. Do we think that the 2GB threshold is significant?
BTW, I have a line open to support at InfoFeed's maker, Jeyo, about this issue and will share your info with them.
G'day!

WM5torage or Card Export w/ New Rom

Can anyone confirm or deny that either of the two programs work with the brand new rom?
They didn't with 3.27. There also is a newer version of Card Export out now.
Still not working for me on the official 3.35 ROM. I'd love to get this fixed. That was an essential feature for me and it sucks not having it.
Were you referring to Card Export II 3.08 or WM5torage?
both....
I was running Card Export 3.06, so when I saw your post I was hoping 3.08 would work. Installed it and still no love. This sucks.
Edit: I submitted a bug report at Softick's website. Here's hoping for a resolution
WM5torage 1.75 works with the new rom.
Not working for me. Did you do anything special? What ROM are you running? I'm on the official Sprint 3.35 release.
Also posted at PPCGeeks,
For those interested in Card Export/WM5torage:
I don't know about everyone else, but the ability to use my phone as a flash drive for transfering files is a huge advantage for me. Activesynce/WMDC blows, and is not installed on every computer. Since the update to 3.XX ROMs, neither of these programs has worked (at least for me). I've been in touch with Softick (makers of Card Export) and I think we will have a solution soon. I've run some debug programs for them and they have developed a working version. Not sure when the final release will be, but hopefully soon. I was amazed at how responsive their team was. The day after I emailed them, the developer was in contact with me. I ran some debug programs, and the next day he had a working test version for me to try. Really awesome to see them working that quickly to develop a fix. If I hear anything about the final release I'll post again. Just thought some people might want to know.

is this inaccurate information??
i have both working on dcd 3.01 rom with the new 3.35 radio. I also discovered a way to unhide the extrom in dcd's kitchen and without the bug that happens when u follow this links suggestion : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ghlight=EXTRom
I have the phone recognize my extrom as a Mounted Volume or a harddrive for a lack of a better term. This means that since it is recognized as other than an extension of the primary, u could get files to treat it like a 2nd harddrive, maybe have a two OS's installed at 1 time. ( wm5 and then wm6 ) just boot into which 1 u want to use. or im working on trying to get the WM^ to treat it like a swap file for extra 10mb of memory. swap files r treated just like system memory by the Operating system.
any how u just have to make some reg changes and u are in business

would you care to further explain exactly how you got wm5torage and card export working on dcd's 3.01 rom with the new 3.35 radio? cause i jus tried both on the same rom and it's a no go for me, using the computer operating system windows XP. i have seen them work in linux.
well first i have the security and encryption off/ second, my version of both those progs are cracked, so they have been altered and third i thinks got something to do with the fact that i use QPST program which i have both 6700 and 6800 usb drivers on my phone. i use the 6700 usb drivers for that program and possibly thats what is making those programs work. U know because i havent had a problem with them i never thought about it./ but i couldnt but a 100 percent sure, but it would be my best guess. besides from my last post u can see that i have been messing with my extrom in which i use the 2 progs to help me with
how'd u get the 6700 usb drivers on your phone? u cooked it in using dcd's kitchen? where'd u get the 6700 drivers from? the apache kitchen??
card export II seemed to work w/ linux for me (did an "ls" to see the directory listing), However, when used with Server 2003 (my regular desktop that has activesync), it mounted itself, but when I went to see the drive, it was empty.
exactly the same for me. works in linux...and is visible but empty in windows. wonder how bunvilla got it to work. he's the only one so far that's been able to get them working.
says the drivers from the 6700 is on his 6800...sounds very likely to work that way but.....wonder how he got the drivers from the 6700??
Hopefully they will figure out something soon. This program is really helpful.
i want to make sure we are on the same page ok. When i use that program I only have access to my SD card. I cant access my phone folders. So when im at work and i want to save something to my sd card i turn on Card Export II 3.08 and then the little green light comes on and in a minute it shows up when i click "my computer" icon. But u know something ever since i changed the extrom to Mounted Volume ( no i didnt just rename the Extrom to Mounted Volume) it shows up too as a little 9mb removeable drive right below my Sd card.
so in the main directory there are 2 extra removable drives that shows up, and the only thing i can think of is my SDcard is formatted fat32.
Oh and by the way i didnt extract the 6700 usb drivers from a 6700 phone, i got them from a website and i rename my usb drvs for the 6800 and use the 6700 usb drvs and then switch when im done.
someone told me that i was doing it the hard way but it works for me. hope this helps some,
there are those times when stuff jus doesnt work for everyone else. sound like a lucky dude and congrats...cause NO ONE else can get it to work. not even the company who created the program. they're supposed to be working on a fix now.
well u know something else that i have that nobody else seems to have is the extrom , on my version of DCD' 3.01 everyone else seem to have issues with that too. at best they get extrom and extrom2 showing up when they use No2chem unlock extrom in the root directory of thier phone. I include a thumb shot of my root and u will see that i not only fixed that issue i also have the extrom show up as a removable drive and it changed from extrom to Mounted Volume and i didnt rename it that, it happened because of the reg edits i made and flashdrv.dll i used. im surprised that doesnt get your curiosity. I can both read and write to it, might even be able to add it to the pagepool. im working it right so i will let u know if i succeed .
WM5torage 1.8 hacked version working
Hey all. Found this on one of the kaiser forums.
I can verify that I have successfully used this cab on my sprint mogul with OLD stock rom 2.17
The steps required are as follows:
1.Install hacked cab below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=69221&d=1202300677
2.Soft Reset
3.Click yes to install card export and then OK to error messages
4.Open WM5torage and disable rndis
Note:According to thread, this will not work if you have ever installed card export on your system. Not sure why
Note 2: I am using 512microsd card with stock rom. I am about to reflash (for a change) and will repost later with my custom rom based on new 3.35

I keep getting this error whenever I try to open a couple applications, like Navizon, HTC Home Customizer, MS Live Search, and a lot more (but googlemaps and a few work just fine). Anyways I flashed to a DCD 3.0.1 rom I cooked... I added a few apps from the titan kitchen by copying the OEM folders into the DCD OEM folder and it all went pretty fine....
has anyone ever encountered these errors? I think I'm gonna have to cook a clean rom with just the basics and have to install everything one by one again unless someone knows what to do..
I had the exact same problem.
you didn't include the .NET framework in your build.
re-cook with that option selected, and those apps will work.

Bump having this issue helpplease
trying to install or try some different Radio cabs I keep getting this error few other programs as well fairly new so I am pretty confused. oh this is is on My Kaiser Tilt though was hoping not to have to start a whole new thread.
getting the same error message
i keep getting the following error message
"The file 'xx' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
every time i do a soft reset all my installed programs get like this, and i have to reinstall them for them to work. This only happens to the applications i've installed on my own, not the ones that come with the phone.
if there is anyone out there who has a solution, please let me know.

SOLUTION!!!
Most of the cases this is not a CERTIFICATE problem-
if you go to your file explorer and look for the PROGRAM FILES directory you will be surprise -
actually this happens when you install cabs on the storage card - those apps write temp files all the time - so when you take out your SD card - those apps continue writing this temp files -
in the bottom line = go to your device and rename the FOLDER storage card to storage old -
now you will see the icon for your SD CARD next to the name STORAGE CARD 2-
the last thing is to remove the SD CARD an re insert it again - now you will see that it return to its original name (STORAGE CARD) .
enjoy
Thank you mate, same problem here solved with your help

[Q] Trying to find out how to run Android on Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2

I'm having quite a hard time finding the correct instructions. I'm trying to run Android on Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2. I did manage to run Android 2.2 from SD card, but it was very slow and sluggish. I was wondering if there's an option to run a more advanced Android version, like Ice Cream Sandwich, also from SD card as dual boot option.
Any suggestions or help out there?
Thanks in advance!

Gingerbread was the last version created for the TP2.
The experience of the SD card version relys heavly upon the sd card you run it from.
Read this thread for more SD card/OS requirements info.
Here are the basic instruction for loading a NAND version of android.
I run GB0X for my daily, and while it is not perfect I am over all happy with it.

Thanks, wizardknight.
Problem is, I'm not familiar with many of the quoted texts, which only adds to my confusion. The second link you provided is totally Chinese to me. The last link I'm not exactly sure if that is the Gingerbread you mentioned. And it also seems that it involves flashing the phone, which I didn't really want to do. I want to dual boot from SD card, so I can revert to Windows Mobile if something goes wrong...

First, if FroYo is slow what makes you think ICS will be fast? lol.
See this thread for a newer version of XDAndroid, based on Gingerbread.
That's the newest and probably the most stable version you can run from the SD card. As was stated, performance is heavily dependent on the SD card itself - and higher class != higher performance here. Operating Systems need high random read/write performance, which is not what classed cards are measuring for speed...
Regardless, NAND runs a bit better IMHO. If you still want WinMo, you'll have to deal with the slowness of running it off the SD card - although to be honest there's not a huge bottleneck by running it on the card.

Regardless, NAND runs a bit better IMHO. If you still want WinMo, you'll have to deal with the slowness of running it off the SD card - although to be honest there's not a huge bottleneck by running it on the card.

As I'm still new to Android, you can't expect too much from me... I just assumed that if FroYo is sluggish, a newer version could probably be faster. But hey, maybe I'm wrong. I guess it indeed also depends on RAM, ROM, and who knows what else.
Anyway, I downloaded your latest link, copied the unzipped files to the root of my SD card (unfortunately I wasn't aware of the fact that higher classes will perform better, so I got a class 2 card last week). As per the instructions, I copied all .csv files from the \Windows directory to the same root of the SD card. I also copied the RHOD400 startup .txt file (which as I assume is the one for my HTC Touch Pro 2). When I then try to run the HARET.exe, the phone crashes and simply reboots back in WinMo...
Am I missing something?
Thanks!

the recommended cards are the lower class Sandisk ones class 2 should be good. Higher Class cards are not good for running an OS from. it is also recomended that you format the SD with the "HP Tool" http://www.eocfiles.com/bdc86eb1ed2989c30dcd1902e84939ae/bootdisks/SP27608.exe before you put GBX0C on it. I also have a sprint TP2 and have had problems with 16GB SD cards had to use an 8GB.

This is exactly what worked for me. have you set win mo to airplane mode before starting HARET? it is recomended round here but did not produce a reboot when I did not do it.

First, re-read my post - I said higher class != better performance - as in does NOT equal.
Also, as was previously stated - it sounds like you did everything correctly. Do you have a funky WinMo ROM? I know some ROM's 'fake' what type of device it is, and this doesn't play with HaRET well - because HaRET actually believes what WinMo is telling it... I can't remember the ROM's off hand that do this, but the jist is they try to fake as if the device is the Leo aka HD2... which it obviously is not...
The only other thing I can think of is did you reuse anything? Literally anything, from FroYo? Data.img, anything? Please don't reuse a single file. Start fresh with GBX0C, including a new startup.txt.
Thanks all! So I formatted my SD card again with the HP tool, copied back all files from the zipped folder, copied over the csv files from \Windows and tried to run HaRET again. Sadly, same story. First the progress bar comes up with "Loading Linux", but around halfway it crashes, and the phone boots up in WinMo again.
The ROM itself is stock from Sprint, I didn't change anything on that. And with FroYo I used HARET as well, and there it worked fine. Except no ringtones (!!!) and no bluetooth (!!!). The other difference is that with FroYo I did not get instructions to copy over csv files. Could that be the cause?
I definitely didn't copy over any FroYo files to this one...
Thanks!

FroYo doesn't require the CSV's.
You're not reusing any files? Nothing is being reused at all?
You have a RHOD400?
Have you tried different SD cards?
It's a brand new Sandisk 8 gb class 2 micro sd, never used before. Downloaded the original files from the provided link. I think maybe to use the provided csv files instead of my own...

Try another card perhaps.
Do you have a RHOD400?

Do you have WinMo overclocked with WiMoSpeed or something of the like? Haret will crash if you are using something other than the 528MHz stock speed.

I managed to find a friend, borrowed his 8 GB Class 4 card, formatted with HP tool, copied all files, including csv. Same crash with his card...
I have a Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2. According to my research, and to the sticker in back of battery, it should be the RHOD400.

No, except for apps I didn't do anything like overclocking or similar...

Not on the battery, under the battery on the phone itself, yes? Then yes, you have a RHOD400. Especially if it's 'Sprint' branded...
Ok, do this. First, run HaRET.exe with NO startup.txt. You can copy HaRET.exe to another location (root of SD, etc) - or rename your startup.txt to startup.bak or something. Then run HaRET.exe and tell us what you see in the box.
Next, perhaps try EVERYTHING from GBX0C except for the startup.txt. Still fails? Try the HaRET.exe and startup.txt from FRX07. Let us know.
So here's my latest update:
I tried removing the startup.txt file, crashed. Tried to run the HaRET.exe file on its own, crashed. Tried to use the startup.txt from FRX06 (which is different from the GBX0C one, I checked). Crashed.
Finally tried to use the HaRET.exe from FRX06, and now it works! Runs Android 2.3.7!
I guess for now the issue is solved. Will have to continue testing. BT and ringtones didn't work with FRX06. Should it work now?
By the way, here's a screenshot of what happened when I didn't have the startup.txt.

When mixing and matching files there is no way to know what will work. You will just have to post your results.

Thanks. Just checked bluetooth. Sadly, it doesn't work. Takes about 10-15 seconds when I check the turn on box, but then it remains off... Wondering if there's a fix for that. Ringtones are fortunately working.
But I have another issue so far. While outgoing SMS messages seem to work fine, I don't get the incoming messages. Any ideas?

I KNEW IT!!!
Machine Type Leo - Exactly what I said earlier. Your WinMo ROM is trying to fake like you have an HD2 not a TP2... That's the whole reason HaRET.exe doesn't work. Your ROM is lying.

Text messaging should work fine. With you mixing and matching so much, and having god knows what for a WinMo ROM... who knows what's wrong. Did you boot Android with WinMo in airplane mode?
