Suggest a ROM! - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus ROM Development

I have an HTC Touch Pro 2, Telus CDMA version, and I've recently upgraded to an EnergyROM Windows Mobile 6.5. Now my friends want to upgrade too!
One of my buddies has an HTC Touch Dual from Bell Mobility, 20-key version, and is looking to upgrade to WinMo6.5, but so far most / all of the ROMs here appear to require the 16-key version.
Suggest a ROM for the 20-key HTC Touch Dual that'll work with Bell, and that has the Titanium interface please.
: )
I'd much appreciate it.

My Person Prefered ROM

The Insomnia V3.251 ROM with Titanium link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=497347&page=134
On the first post you can find some links (like 20 key input, Album 2.5) these you have to install too and other applications

vote for insomnia also, read the thread and you'll amaze for it

Im not a fan of imsonia, too many strange behaviours.
I change roms every now and then and that one was the only one I had to pass thru the original rom first to change into and from, to change back.
:/
I prefer clean roms, to have plenty of extra space and ram.
Clean by NemanjaLO is the one for me:

Fuze ROM vs Touch Pro ROM?

Hi,
I just bought an ATT Fuze and want to "clean it up" by installing a clean ROM on it.
I've done a lot of search here but there is SO MUCH information that in the end i'm still not clear about what's the latest and what's outdated.
So i'm asking a couple of questions. Answers or redirections will be much appreciated.
- If I want to install a custom ROM, should I pick a Fuze ROM or a Touch Pro ROM? (I am not using the phone in the US so I don't need to stick to ATT ROMs). Is one ROM better than the other by nature?
- Is there a "ROM-Status Wiki" or somewhere where one can go and check what are the latest FUZE/TPro ROMs available and what are the features in them? Or is going through all the threads the only way? What if I get a ROM and its not the latest? because there are so many threads out there.
thanks

Im assuming that you are referring to Official (non cooked Roms)
The latest English Touch Pro Rom is 5.05 which can be found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478657
The Touch Pro Rom is better because it has better GPS signal and no ATT crap and likely to run faster.
You can also get the latest Radio Rom which is 1.12.25.19
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=487994
The only you need to do is get the cab that convert the ATT Fuze hardware keyboard when running Touch Pro Rom which can be found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=474192
Before you do all this you need to Run HardSPL on the Fuze which can be found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410150
This is a latest ATT Fuze 5.08 "Test Rom" so you dont need to install the keyboard fix cab

Here is some latest official Touch Pro ROM Asian Versions

Anyway read through and make an informed decision for yourself. Everything else I did not list are cooked ROMs which I personally not a big fan of. I like the official ROMS and make the customizations myself.
Thank you both of you. Between your two replies, you've answered exactly what I was asking for.
Much appreciated. Thanks again!
Rom Location?
I bought my FUZE in the US. But I am using it in Asia.
If I slash it with an English Asian TPro Rom, what difference does it make VS a non Asian ROM?
nothing really same old stuff. you just have to set your regions and time dislay and calendar display format. and of course change the keyboard layout to accomodate TP ROm on Fuze. You better off using the Asian Rom if you are using in Asia cause the Radio Rom should work better.
once again, thank you.
Thanks to your answers, I am getting more familiar with Raphael and the ROMs and trying out stuff.
I also like to install Stock (shipped) ROMs and then make my own customizations. So I have flashed the WWE Asia rom and its working very well.
But now I want to install the new Rhodium TF3D 2. It is recommended for OS builds 21000 or higher. However the latest shipped ROMs are less than 21000.
So now my question is, how can I upgrade my OS build to 21000 without installing a cooked ROM? I know the answer is probably "no you can't" so my real question is, "being a person who likes to stay as close to a Stock Rom without going into cooked roms, what the best bet to achieve this?"
Thanks again in advance.
dont know of a solution

I'll give it a try. thanks!
How do i check the rom build, is the same as the rom version?? sorry fo the noob question
Settings -> System -> About
Should read something similar to this:
CE OS 5.2.21051 (Build 21051.1.6.4)
WinMO 6.1 = 5.2
ROM/SYS = 21051
AKU - 1.6.4
You can obtain additional info from Device Information as well.
HTH,

[Q] Custom ROM closest to Stock?

I know I could have used the search engine for the question I`m going to ask you, people, but I haven`t got the slightest idea about what to search for.
I would like to use a new ROM for my HD2, but I want something which is close to stock, because I want to use the SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 as well. One of the key features should be a WORKING SMS application, which would NOT contain the "stuck in outbox" bug.
Please help me decide upon a specific ROM and, if I posted in the wrong section, I kindly ask a moderator to move my topic where it belongs to.
Many thanks in advance!
Just read each thread - but AFAIK there isn't one ROM using SPB
I have seen some ROMs coming pre-cooked with SPb inside, but that`s not my point. All I want is a simple ROM, better than the official 1.48, which has the SMS issue solved...
NRGZ28 (EnergyRoms) has made a build with:
Energy.Leo.23557.Titanium.Apr.13.7z
or
Energy.Leo.21898.Titanium.Apr.13.7z
Titanium means that HTC Sense is not cooked in so you can use SPB Mobile Shell (this is also the reason he made those 2 titanium builds)
As far as i see from his twitter page he intends to cook a version including spb mobile shell as well
@Iosif_Octavian A new SPB themed energyrom will be made pretty soon here.. about 13 hours ago via Digsby in reply to Iosif_Octavian

Sounds pretty good, actually... Could you provide a link, please? I've found something but it`s for the HD, not for the HD2.
Also, I`d like to mention the fact that I`ve found a ROM named Topix which seems to be pretty much similar to the stock one, except for some new apps...

so, that's all the cooked roms and official roms from 1.66 then, I bet you'd struggle to find a rom that doesn't fit the above criteria.
Well there's no official 1.66 for my device as HTC won't take my S/N for whatever reason. So right now all I can do is go for a cooked ROM. The particular thing I want my ROM to do is only to fix the SMS bug and nothing more. That's why I have such a hard time finding one, because all of them include other changes, which I don't want to have. I mean, it's ok if it includes several useful apps, but I don't want a whole pile of new stuff...
if you hspl you don't have to go for a cooked rom. all the official roms are available in the official roms thread. hit that bigg fatty first link in the first post.
just flash them over usb, they'll work fine.
But will it be available in WWE? I really like my HD2 speaking English...
And while we're at it, is the SMS issue fixed in the 1.66 ROM?
And another thing... is 1.66 the latest official ROM? I checked the post, but it only mentions the 1.46 (or sthing) and the 1.48...
in the time it took to ask you could have looked at the link and seen most roms are available, especially wwe and uk provider stock roms.
There are enough cooked ROMs out, everyone should find their own, just flash one and try it out every cook spends a lot of time on the development. So go ahead and try a couple of them. Personally I tried out about 4 different ROMs and stuck by Artemis. Good luck

Which ROM should I go with?

Hey all!
So I've decided that I don't like the instability of my HD2 anymore, it's gotten to be quite buggy at times so I was thinking that a ROM flash would do the trick, so that I can start over again. I need to learn how to do it again, though, it's been a while for me.
The problem is, there's TONS of ROMs out there that I don't know what to do or which one to choose! There's just so many that I can't decide.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I value speed, functionality, productivity, messaging features and most of all, stability. Would anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you for your time, XDA!
to flash a custom ROM, yoiu will first need to download HSPL (the latest is version 3). if you search the forums, you will find the main thread. as i have a t8585, i can use any version of HSPL, but you should check on the main thread which one is compatible with your handset (tmous only works with 1 version). after installing HSPL, you can then choose your custom ROM. i think the latest version is HSPL 2.08
as you said, there are hundreds of custom ROMS. on the forums somewhere there was a comparison table of all the available ROMS, but it was out of date and incomplete the last time i looked a few months ago. personally, i would reccommend CleanEX ROMs as they are very fast and stable. there were 3 to choose from, but i believe one of the ROM developers has now retired from it, so that leaves 2 that will be kept up to date. personally, ive been using the DsE version (i have version 3.5). these are updated frequently to a point where i only update to major releases (version 2 to version 3 for example) and only update to a .x version if i am experiencing a problem that the new version fixes (hence being on 3.5 currently). the ROM has some things left out, so you may need to download some CABs to get some of the apps (i think there are about 3 apps left out, one of which is Microsoft MyPhone). you can still apply registry tweaks, but be careful if using cabbed versions (ive had a few that stop sense from loading) programs like bsb tweaks work as well.
depending on what stock ROM you have, you may also need to update the radio rom before installing the custom ROM. the WWE version of generic ROMS uses very outdated radio ROMs. CleanEX ROMs require radio 2.08 or higher. there are several versions to choose from, but 2.12 is the latest, 2.11 seems to be the most stable, and 2.10 gives the better battery life. ive personally been using 2.11, as 2.12 caused touch screen issues, but that may be because the radio was from a non WWE ROM
the only other thing you will come accross is weather to use WM 6.5 or 6.5.5. WM 6.5 is what the WWE ROMs use, which has the start menu at the top. WM 6.5.5 has the start menu at the bottom, but is more finger friendly with slightly larger buttons. performance wise, they seem to be the same. i have tried out both and WM 6.5.5 takes some getting used to, but is easier to use
I use ChuckyROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=618787. It works pretty well and have had no problems with it.
THANKS for the advice, Matt. I've been looking for this!!
artemis, looks like stock, without the problems, only ROM ive used so far that I haven't had problems with, loved energy, but wont work with my phone, same with miri, only issue is the text system, same as stock rom, loads quicker, but still bit funny
there is no perfect rom, but let's say this:
eye candy: dinik & miri (WWE)
practical and smooth: chuckyrom gtx (WWE)
stable and with some nice features: Duttys crème de la crème (MULTILANG)
edit: maybe it's best to upgrade your radio BEFORE flashing a rom

i was about to add that to my post! some roms require newer radio versions, its best to check on the rom thread for requirements and install instructions. at the end of the day, rom choice is personal, ive tried duttys holy grail, but found it to be too unstable, ive tried energy, but had issues with sense lagging. cleanex worked best for me, but im sure others will say the same about cleanex as what i have said about other roms. generally, if its your first custom rom and you are a bit unsure about it, look for a close to stock rom, which keeps it simple. also look for names of experienced developers. all roms will have their own thread, with the features, whats been added, whats been removed, requirements, install instructions and faq, plus users will often rate/review the rom and post up problems and solutions. if you PM me, i can try and hunt down the comparison guide i downloaded (i havent been able to find the thread on xda ) and i can send it to you, this may help you see what some roms offer

Official rom + programs vs Cooked one

So.,.. im in doubt again.. Should i use Official rom and modify it with programs and themes as i want, or should i use some cooked rom ( elegancia rom is the most suitable rom for me within the cooked roms..)

Difficult question; all depends on your expectations/needs.
Personally I'm more fore a Cooked Rom reason way; it is mostly build by a personal creator, with his opinion/experience on the way how it will be better, and if you look into each Rom Builders thread you will see a lot of updates, and a lot of people recommendation and gives feedback about there opinion.
Let say that mostly a Cooked Rom is build on customers needs, and not on the thinking way of a factory.
If you ask me, tray it out, you can always changed your Rom version.
One important rule, reed always attentive the instructions, and follow them.
yes ... u are right... i found elegance rom best suiting me .. but 2 things i hate about it :
i cant get original volume control back ( instaled all possible cabs, but no )
lockscreen is damn ugly even when i restor original one, its ugly...

All depends on taste sir; unfortunately this isn't a thing I can help you out.
But if you go take a look on the theme thread's you will certainty find one you like. (There are different versions of it, but it's a little bit searching)
I don't know if you have take already a look to the Artemis Rom?
I don't have the intention to favoring/make publicity fore one Rom builder; but I have had a lot of different Rom version's and I always came back on Artemis. (But again this is personal need/opinion.)
Oh yes; it have the opportunity to switch between two different lock-screen versions (they are build in the Rom) and it have the original volume control.
In case of; you can find the link in my signature.
and whats the speed of device with artemis rom? and are there bugs ? have u tried elegancia rom ?
the only think i dont like with estetics on artemis rom are those bubble buttons for phone and menu... can that be fixed?

Okay, this are multiple questions
- Speed is Okay (quietly fast comparing some other that I have used), and smoothly.
- Bugs; I must be honest thil here I think I'm a lucky guy and didn't have found bugs on it, but I must also be honest in the past there were some version's where the battery drains fast; but on the version I'm now it's okay. (2,5 sometimes 3 days of battery life (I'm always in 3G used synchronization of whether/Mail/Twitter(if it works) every 10 minutes used 4H/day WiFi/(surfing on the net) and do about 3H of communication/day (I Know I'm phone addicted) I don't set my device on sleep; always turns on 24/24 and if I have time about 1h/day I listen the radio on it.
So I must say I'm satisfy on battery life/comparing on the needs I have.
Of course that don't mean there aren't now bugs, Sternas (the creator of Artemis Rom) do mostly each week a Rom update, I don't have always the time to follow it so I can not say if it's always smoothly. But I see if people communicate bugs/problem's he do directly a new update. Much respect fore that fore someone who build multi language Rom!
- No, I didn't tried Elegancia Rom; so I can not compare with this version.
- About the bottom buttons; he have 5 different versions of it already build in his Rom; so you can shoos between them. But it's not something fix from the Rom; in the Theme Thread you will find hundreds different versions. fore WM 6.5.X there are a lot of stuff. So you are free to install whatever you like.
I hope I gives you a fully and useful information.
In case off; just ask.
Kurt
The most impotent is to follow your needs/taste.
Ons you have discover that part its just flashing
(Impotent no matter witch Rom you decide to take is to read/follow the instructions thy mention on there thread.)
And if after all it wasn't what you expected; you just take a other one.
err, i just got artemis rom ,and whats the diffrence between official rom and artemis rom ? i dont find any diffrence..

Eh? A lot sir;
Fore the beginning it's WM 6.5.X instead of WM 6.5.
secondly you have all the latest manila/OS/packaging versions.
There are also included some useful applications.
And ...
But if you mean; "on the first look it look like Stock Rom"
Yes; it's normal; because Sternas cooked Rom on Stock Rom Philosophy.
Reason way; everyone have a different taste about Look/skin.
so you are free in that part. (but if you used it some wile; you will see the difference by experience)

[Q] Semi n00b questions (and I have searched)

Righty, used win mob for years, have just come from a TG01 to the HD2 (got tired of being the poor relation) and with it has come tenfold more options and different methods to do these options, so I'm after a little help filtering out a year or so's dev.
What I am basically after is a clean 6.5.x (the one with the start at the bottom) and the latest sense updates etc, but no real additions like changed icons, boot screens etc that is Android compatable (one of the points for chosing the HD2), which also leads onto the better choice of Android builds at a later date.
I have HSPL2 my device already (1.66.0000), but coming from other phones all the roms seem to require one radio stack or another (TG01 had them built into the rom, just one flash was all that was needed), so I am looking for the best shopping list to get my phone set for playing with if someone doesn't mind taking a bit of time out
My current favs are (from what I have found in the latest roms),

Running a t-mobile UK HD2 with the last official rom, I have read a few guides but as said each seem to come with their own idea of what to do :/
Hey there,
I would recommend you using one of the 'Energy' ROM's, as these are stable, fast and regularly updated. It also comes in a variety of 'flavours'. The Standard 'Reference' version seems to be what you are looking for:
Standard 'Reference'
•This ROM is mostly for people that want a close to stock ROM with the stock visual style. It's also perfect for doing your own customizations.
•A lot of the cooked in apps are removed in this ROM, the Start menu back to the stock 3 row style
•Sense and everything else is back to the default HTC green.
It may have a custom boot screen though.
However I would strongly encourage you to go for a fully custom ROM (Energy's CHT Dinik Glass is my personal fav) as you get lots of extra apps. I know the current version of CHT Dinik Glass comes with a built-in 'Launch Android' button so it is definately Android-compatible =]
If you choose to download one of these ROM's please ensure you pick a 23138 build, as these are the builds with 6.5.x (Start button at bottom)
As for the radio I'd recommend any .50 radio as these seem best for compatibility (and are necessary to use Energy's ROM's). I am in UK (Cornwall) using Vodafone and after testing various radio versions found 2.12.50.02_2 to work best for me (your mileage may differ)
To summarise: if you want a custom ROM that stays close to Stock, go for one of the Energy Standard series. If you want a custom ROM thats truly custom, go for the Energy CHT series.

if your spl says 1.66.0000 then you dont have hspl on your phone.
.0000 spls are stock, they are included in teh hspl program to make removing hspl and returning to stock easier.
run hspl2 again, but this time choose 1.66.hspl in the dropdown.
