keyboard problems - Touch Pro CDMA

hello,
i am having problems with my keyboard. when i slide open the phone the keyboard backlight comes on for a few seconds then disapears but none of the keys work at all. its as if it doesnt know i have the phone open. every once in a while i can reboot the phone enought times and it will come back for a while then eventually it will stop working again. i have flashed several roms including a sprint stock rom and it still does not work. please help if you can. it is VERY frustrating.

If you have insurance on the phone, Flash the stock Sprint ROM and run the relocker - then take it back for replacement.
If not, well..... get used to touch screen input, or you could buy another phone.

I know it has been posted in here a couple times since I had the same problem. Squeeze the keyboard at the spacebar and do a soft reset. The cable for the KB gets reseated that way. Has worked on a couple different Touch Pros I have had and fixed them all.

I'm having the same problem with my keyboard, and I saw this answer, but I wanted a little clarification if you could. What do you mean squeeze the keyboard at the spacebar? As in press the spacebar while soft resetting? or litterally squeezing the metal casing around the keyboard? Thanks!

Erratic touch screen? Please help!

I have a T-Mobile Pocket Phone Edition,
It's had a rough life but as kept going for over 3 years now.
For the last year I would have to realign the screen 2 or 3
times a week but over the last few months it keeps getting worse.
Sometimes the screen won't respond to anything anywhere,
then after I tap it a few times boom works fine.
Sometimes I'll tap on the “Ok” and the “Start menu” will activate.
Sometimes drawing a line up the center of the screen will end up
shooting all over the screen.
And sometime it will work perfectly!
I thought the problems were to erratic to be hardware so
I hard set after awhile it started again,
So I hard set and installed a different ROM after a coupe hours
the problem was back.
Also sometimes the align program will get stuck in a
loop that doesn't end.
I've searched but can't find an answer? Anyone have an idea?
I've already taken it a part once but couldn't see how to get
any further after I toke the back panel off? Please help!
WOW nobody? So no one was heard of this problem before?
Can anyone direct me to directions on taking apart the Wallaby?
Thanks <><
It's a problem with touch screen. You should check (and fix) it.
Maybe it is necessary to press well screen to the motherboard. (Sorry my english).
Ok, Can you tell me where that connection is?
Thanks
Toke everything apart, found the connection, cleaned everything (w/ screen wipe)
put it all back together. Still have the touch problem and now the backlight won't work!
I've found if I press the unit in my hand the touch panel works right,
I don't think it's a lose connection to the main board so I think it must be
one on the main board.
If anybody thinks they want it for parts let me know! :?

Problem with Buttons after Flash

I flashed the rom on my mogul recently and after the flash my buttons no longer work, the only buttons that work are the power and the directional buttons, all the soft keys, camera, talk, end and ok buttons no longer work, does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I have another mogul and i flashed the same rom and everything is fine with it, ive flashed other roms to the messed up mogul and have no luck getting the buttons back.

I had this problem but it was not flash related... I wrote it off to a connection getting a little damp. It happens when it gets real humid (like if I forget and take it in the bathroom when I am taking a shower). A hard reset didn't help. It happened intermittently to me for a few weeks... it would be fine for a few days, and then for about 24 hours or so the buttons wouldn't work. And this was with the stock Alltel ROM.
I haven't had any trouble at all the past few weeks now that I am being a little more careful about keeping it dry.

Screen problems...

Hi all!
My friend loved my mozart, so decided to get himself one!
BUT, annoyingly, there seems to be a problem with the screen...
Sometimes it just wont detect that you are touching it etc.
Sometimes it will work for a little while, or even just a split second and think your pressing instead of sliding your finger.
i HAVE already replaced the screen thinking this would solve it, but its EXACTLY the same
Is there anything else i could try, or is it just a screwed unit?
Cheers
Keith
BUMPZ!!!
anyone???
you got a screen protector on it? before i got my screen protector on it, it worked good. but after then it sometimes didnt respond to touches. sometimes especially when it was hot
ive answered this 2 times alread, try to search
flash the previous firmware back and itll work, its worked for mine

[Q] Brick or hardware failure?

Hi guys,
I bought a second hand mini pro, and flashed (rooted, unlocked bootloader)it with the help of one of the several guides. with Simplexity and MiniCM7
It seemed to work fine at first, but now something odd happens.
I can only turn the device on (working) when I keep the keyboard slided out. When I start up with it slided in, The screen is turned on but no image appears: It stays black.
When it is turned on (slided out) I can use the phone normally. But when I slide it back in, the screen is frozen and won't react to touches.
Putting the phone in and out of standby (slided out) will have two possible outcomes: Either its usable as normal. Or it simply won't come out of standby at all. The phone seems to react (sounds) to pressing the buttons on the keyboard though.
I used Seus and manual methods to reflash to stock, try other kernels, but the problems remain.
I think it's the hardware that's failing but maybe this can be caused by the flashing as well?
Are there any methods to rule out one or the other?

I'm responding to the thread's title : It's a hardware failure.Brick means you can't even power it on/flash mode.If I helped click the "Thanks" button. Also, try using nAa-11 my and x10man's ROM called XMP Rom and tell us if you still have this problem.I understand that you posted this here (If you post it in questions section almost no one will respond )so I won't tell about that.
(Oh, my bad. Mods feel free to move my thread)
I was afraid of that. I'll try your ROM as well, but I'm afraid its the hardware too.
Thankfully I only paid 30 euros for it
I think the flex cable is gone bad, i have the same problem here. My mobile doesnt respond to any touches. First it happened only when i would slide the keyboard. But now its dead as a whole

The XMP rom didn't fix it, so I guess you're right. Would a flex cable (those are the flat orange ones right?) be expensive?

I hope you fix it
This is the cable we are having a problem with, i have given my mobile for replacing this stuff as i couldnt get this locally. This board houses the LCD and the digitizer and the buttons connect to this. The black cable goes to the motherboard. Its pretty simple to take apart the phone, but take care while doing so. Another thing its that, when you are opening the display panel, its better to use a guitar pick instead of a screwdriver and open it at the latches, that would avoid damage to the outer plastics.

[Q] Dead spot where the "i" is on keyboard

I seem to have developed a kind of dead spot where the "i" is on the keyboard. I have tried 2 different Swypes, the stock keyboard, Switftkey Flow, and the 4.2 keyboard. It will work sometimes, but if i repeatedly tap the i, sometimes it will go for periods of 20+taps without registering, or stop indefinitely until I swype over and include the I. All of the other buttons work perfectly. It has been in a case since the minute I got it, I have never dropped it, hit it, or anything, and recently I put a screen protector on it. Should I bring it back to Verizon for a warranty replacement?
Edit: This doesn't happen when I use the S Pen to tap, it only fails to register when I use my finger.
sounds like a touch screen defect, do take it back

i have the same exact problem but its on the 'u'. did you take it back for a replacement?
If you have a screen protector installed try removing it to see if the issue goes away. Have seen touch input issues with marginal screen protectors.

Yup I took it back. They did a hard reset and said I absolutely had to reproduce it for them to swap it out, so I sat there and pressed it until it started giving me problems again. Swapped it out no problem. It did this with or without the screen protector, do that wasn't the issue.
