Equalizer - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I searched through here and google, and couldn't find an answer.
Does anyone know if the 2.0 update will have an equalizer? Is it really that hard?

I don't think it have equalizer, they work only for: Contacts and accounts
Email
Messaging
Camera
Android virtual keyboard
Browser
Calendar
Media Framework
Bluetooth
New Framework APIs
I'm very happy that they work for bt Try to find something on the market

i have no idea what carmen2009 is getting at... but as far as I've read, no, it will not. I don't think it would be that difficult to create an app that would control the EQ.

I've been waiting for an equalizer too. I just want to tune the high end pitch note.

For me, the equaliser is probably my only fault with the phone.I've came from an N97 to a Hero, and the media player on that was amazing, drove my headphones perfectly. The Hero still sounds great and drives the phones well, its just that with no EQ, it isn't really a viable as an all in 1 phone/media player/internet device.

Maybe this will help:
The Equalizer from the 2.1 Milestone update.
Doesn't work on my 1.5 stock Hero...

Parametric equalizer

There does not seem to be ANY app or implementation of a parametric equalizer for ANY device.
Whether it is something that uses the hardware parametric EQ present on some DAC's, something that does it in software, be it the audio player or a system-wide app like the way dspmanager works, where is the parametric EQ?
Sure it may be a challenge to control the hardware properly, but every media player has a fixed-band equalizer. It is not much more work to make it fully parametric.
The early iPods had enough capability to run a 5 band parametric with Rockbox firmware. Many users get these powerful phones in order to be able to stream music, and have it sound right.
Is there ANY app for ANY phone that can correct frequency response precisely?
Search for astro player nova. It's got a 5 band.

Sorry, thank you.
Is there one that works globally, as DSP Manager does, but parametric? If it doesn't appear within a month I am undertaking my first Android project...
A computer replacement (Just snickered imagining someone using the HDMI out with a USB keyboard and mouse into the charging port) without a parametric eq is a car without a stereo.
Well Astro Player and Astro Player Nova both have 18 band, but no parametric.
Come on, it HAS to exist. Even a little private project somewhere.

Did you ever find one or make one?
I agree
Too old post, but I googled it searching about this...
There is too many opinions at forum from "audiophile" aboutapps like dsp manager, v4a or any other eq, but some times thats make not complete result or has no result directly.
In my opinion the most direct way from file to hardware, the best audio quality we make. But at the same time the most common headphones/earphones has poor frequency response/sensibility to enjoy our music and need a little frequency correction and some dynamics compression maybe, for some music genres or movie's audio.
This is where I would like to have a simple linear phase sound processor, with at most 3 bell parametric bands, one for bass boost, one for put in mid/high range for attenuate certain resonant peak (particularly in common earphones 4 a 6 kHz freq response is awfully bad), and one more for trebles. And a dynamic comp to prevent eq result overflow and boost low level sounds. No MORE
sorry my poor English.

Possible way to use beats audio for every music app

Well I was on the Daily New's website and I opened a video and it opened HTC streaming media player. Beats audio showed up in the taskbar like with htc music except when I closed streaming media it was still there allowing me to use it with things like grooveshark and Pandora. I'm not sure if this is a freak thing or if this is a glitch that works in our favor. I encourage you to try it and report back. Thanks!
Note: htc streaming media is not in your app drawer. I don't know how to open it without clicking the right video
I am going to assume you didn't actually close the app, therefor the icon stayed in the status bar but was not actually equalizing the Pandora/etc.
No, I closed the app in a task killer. I think I would know if I closed it or not. And it is actually equalising Pandora because when I press disable you can hear a difference.
Is the beats audio feature software or hardware?

Both. The Beats DSP is hardware. The EQ settings and API are software. Now oddly enough I've had similar experiences but they were short lived. Such as I switched from playing a song in stock to watch a video or something and 30 seconds into the video the beats EQ gave out finally and there was a noticeable drop in audio fidelity on the video I was watching. I'd like to find a way to force it always on.. maybe someone can make an app with the api that just runs in the background holding Beats open.
An App is something that I was getting at. There is the released versions of the stock rom, its gotta be in there somewhere. And with all the custom roms coming out its gotta be available to modify and such. Ill have to start digging into it this weekend.
If you are rooted, try this post. The sound will carry to all apps like Pandora, or Google Music:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396281
He gives you pics of exact settings to reproduce the sound, and further along in the thread another guy gives another group of settings that sounds even better. Try both and see which you like. Both sound great, but they're your ears, so do what's best for you.
I did it and it sounded great, just be careful with task managers because if you kill the DSP manager, it will stop the EQ settings.
If you're not rooted there are apps that set the eq that you can buy from the market. Hope that helps.
There is supposed to be an update coming in the near future that will allow you to use beats on all apps... I think

[Q] usb dac/usbhost

Hey all. I want to use a USB DAC on my prime, I know its not possible on the stock prime, but I would be willing to unlock/root to do it. I've rooted android devices before, but its been a purely "paint by numbers" affair for me. I see people talking about things in the dev threads that go way over my head. Does anyone know a good rom I can use that will give me USBHOST functionality to use a DAC, or failing that could someone somehow customize the ability to do so into the rom?
I am an audiophile, and the primes onboard DAC makes my ears want to bleed and my sr225i's want to melt. And please dont try and tell me to get beats audio, or some other software EQ mod, I'm tired of people being like "HURR DURR GET BEATS AUDIO/DSP AUDIO", while they listen to music on their cheap skullcandy headphones. Sorry, didnt mean to rant. I just really dont want to buy an ifad but it is looking like that is the only option.
Anyway... I just need a stock/bloatware removed rom (a little overclocking wouldent hurt either), with the ability to rock a USB DAC. I tried using the search function but there wasnt really any informative answers out there, which is truely disconcerting. I am really at a loss for what to do here.
So no one has any info on a usb audio enabled rom/kernal? No other audiophiles here? Dissapointing.
It might get support when we are updated to Jellybean. See here:

[Q] PowerAmp Compatibility? (Mainly For Phone Speaker)

Hi,
I've been searching for something similar to what I have been looking for but couldn't find it so just thought maybe this site would help me.
I have been using the music app PowerAmp to play my music and one thing I like about it is the equalizer, now one thing I noticed is that it is a little difficult to find any equalizers that work on the same level as it AND can be used as a system equalizer since PowerAmp only works for PowerAmp and nothing else like Pandora, Youtube, etc...
My question is are there any apps that use the same equalizer as PowerAmp AND are compatible with other third party apps, or is there a way to make PowerAmp my system equalizer (being able to use it with any other app)?
P.S: I am already rooted and am using the HTC One M8 and PowerAmp just makes the speakers sound much better imo (BoomSound is already good don't get me wrong).
P.S.S: Already tried using Viper4Android, a bunch of equalizer apps from the Play Store and a DSP Manager app so any help would be appreciated.
P.S.S.S: If you need the equalizer setting I use for PowerAmp for my HTC One M8's speaker then I'll be happy to post a screenshot if I can.
I honestly would recommend Viper4android, it works for me on those apps, for example spotify. Perhaps you're doing something wrong?

I usually hear that it is the best and don't get me wrong, Viper4Android has its perks, it's just that Poweramp makes my HTC One M8's speakers sound....deeper? Don't know if that's the word for it, what I'm saying is that Poweramp gives a better bass response and it seems I can't get it to work like that with Viper4Android.
Like I said before, I'll be happy to show you the settings I have for Poweramp's equalizer and see if someone who is good at Viper4Android can replicate it. Since I am using the One M8 though then I think it should be used for the One M8 only, but people may hear a difference with other phones too so they can give it a try to see if they hear what I am talking about.
I am a noob at Viper4Android so maybe I just don't know how to tweak it as good as others.

Take a screenshot and I'll see if i can replicate it on my friends M8 and then see if i can replicate it on Viper.

Built-In equalizer?

Hey all! Just bought the 7.1 from B&H for $349 to replace my Moto g5 plus which is full of issues. One thing I will miss is being able to install V4A (Viper equalizer). I can tune the settings and make my Bluetooth to car connection sound a hell of a lot better than actually changing the settings on the head unit. Was wondering if there was a stock (or built in) EQ for the Nokia 7.1 that I can use to tune Spotify, YouTube, etc. or if I'll have to download a crappy EQ app off of the play store. Is there a built in EQ, or even better, a way to install V4A on this phone without TWRP? Thanks!

There is a way to change the Bluetooth codec in the dev menue, not the same as an EQ but wouldn't you want the signal to transfer as true as possible and use your speaker source EQ?

Yeah I got the phone, saw the stuff in the devs. To answer everyone's question, there is a built in EQ, but you have to open Spotify to use it (not sure if GPM or Pandora work). It's not terrible, but certainly not as good as V4A. And to respond to your question, I don't think the signal transfer is really touched with an EQ. The EQ adds bass and lets me adjust my mids to the way I like them. Like I said, my head unit is garbage. The EQ practically does nothing to improve bass or mids. At first I thought it was the speakers but it isn't. Thats why I wanted a built in EQ on my phone, until I get a new head unit at least.
