Hey fellas.
I am sure it's been discussed before and my searches to find something fruitful have been met with limited success:
I am looking for a way (if possible) to skin my comm manager. I have the 6 Button lateral one from Custel's V1.1 and not the 8 or 10 button manager.
Any idea's?
You should find one in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316107
I'm using the HTC Kaiser Comm Manager Fixed.
I see the comm managers but I am trying to find a way to skin my current one. Is there a way to editthe skin on my device? Where are the skins for the comm manager kept at on the device?
All of the graphics for the Comm manager exist in windows\
If you find those files and edit/replace them, you can change the whole way comm manager works.
Problem is, every button is its own image and each has 3+ states (on, off, disabled, or other options). On the 10 button comm manager, that means there are 80+ files to edit.
Thanks Dishe.
Looks like I have a lot of cutting & pasting...
Update:
For anyone looking, on my Alltel PPC6800 I found the files to edit in the \windows dir. The backgrounds are the P_BG & L_BG (portrait & landscape). The status icons are labeled as Status_Off & Status_On.

What someone should do (I'd do it if I had the time!) is create a photoshop .psd file with all of these graphics assembled as slices. Then we can change the background color, etc. and export them as individual files without having to manually edit each one.
In the mean time, the long way is the only way...

i just got done getting all the files on to my card... and now on my computer.. should i make a PSD or just zip it and then people can do w/e they would like?
i have all the PNG files in the windows dir.
I am trying to do what you are but I posted a thread about the access rights of the files for being able to replace them... are you not running into the same problem?
It wouldnt let me modify them at first but once I copied them to my computer, clicked on properties and removed the read-only, all was well. After amendment, they copied over the original on my device with no problems...
Oh wow I will give that a shot... thank you!
I am not sure how that would work though, seeing that the files on the device would still be read-only and shouldn't be allowed to copy over. When I changed the settings in TC it didn't save them either...
Nvm I figured it out! Thx

Honestly, I'm planning on replacing them on the ROM-level, and flashing a new custom rom with my new files.

dc13, getting the files are not a big deal... I have a decomposed ROM image on my computer with all the files that go inside it, so I didn't even need to look on the PPC. I just viewed all files by thumbnail, and grabbed the 80+ files that looked like they belong to the comm manager. BTW, not every .png is for the CM. Some of them can be HTC Home, or the Dialer, etc...
I would have put them up if people were actually having a hard time getting them. The problem is changing them in a uniform fashion!
For example, if you're familiar with photoshop, and you want to change the gradient background to be, say, red and black instead of grey and black, you'll need to create a full sized gradient background that starts from the bottom of the screen and goes to the top (just like the current background image which starts at the bottom as a darker color and ends as a lighter gray on the top), and then make sure somehow that every icon has the appropriate part of the background appearing behind it in the png. This is very time-consuming to do to 80 files.
However, if you had the time and knowledge of Photoshop and ImageReady slices, you could create ONE .psd file that contained all the .pngs arranged in their proper places. Then, change the background of this larger picture, and do whatever you need to do with the icons (which would have to be arranged as layers), then you click to save it, you can have it automatically split it into all the slices needed as individual .png files.
Once this is set up, skinning the comm manager will take a matter of minutes. The problem is that this is probably 2-4 hours worth of work to set up, and I personally don't have the time to dedicate to it right now, especially since its not a paying gig.
I put together a quick guide to creating a Today, Slide2Unlock, Startup, Dialer and Commanager theme. It's in the Hacking & Modifying section of the forum...

It's not that difficult to create a commanager skin, but it does take time to make it look good.
I currently have skinned my commager. I am using the commanager that poorlyduck uses in his theme package but mine has a new vista look.

You wouldn't possibly want to share that skin would you, looks great and would go good with my wisbar theme.
I spend most of my time over on ppcgeeks but can't seem to find a person who knows what I need to do to get this to work.
I've heard on the Vodafone TP roms that the flip clock resets to 0:00 and flips again every time you go to the home tab. Well, I want to see my flip clock flip... Any way for me to make that happen for the Sprint flip clock as well?
Or does anyone know which manila files control the behavior of the clock? I'll go change them myself and learn something in the process, I just don't know where to begin.

Here are my Favs for TF3D. You will find what you are looking for if you search for it. From these links you can learn about Manila... I did anyway.
** I recommend starting here if you want to learn the file system first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=414861
The rest are good links to download others work and "inspect" it. What I did is download a clock for example and then decompile the cab to see what files it held. From there i knew that those files represented feature / function X. Pretty simple revers engineering.

I really want this as well. please let me know if I can be of any help and we can get this done. I haven't dealt with manilla files. But, have experience in programming..
Can't wait to accomplish this.
P.S. I noticed that the "Original HTC Black" theme posted here on xda-dev under Diamond - Themes, Application has this behavior that we are looking for. If we can only figure out what exact files do we need from there...
Here is the link for the HTC Black theme thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=430174
With this theme installed using TF3D Config, I get the desired behavior that you are looking for ( clock flips from 0:00 to current time every time you switch to the home tab. )
If you can install this theme and then figure out what manilla files control this behavior, you/we will be golden. From there, we can just copy those files to an external storage, hard reset the phone and then copy those files over the original rom manilla files.
Here is 1c684cd8_manila from a version of manila that I know does the flip from 00:00 to current whenever returning to the home page. If creedin is correct about which manila file controls that behavior, then this should work. I haven't tried it though so I have no idea if it will actually do anything.
Nope. I just tried over-writing the 1c684cd8_manila file. Did not work. Home tab was completely empty....

yea, that file controls the clock, but the theme maps the home tab, so youd have to copy all the files from a theme with the home tab that flips, then replace all of theme, make sure it works then customize to your theme

I don't have the phone with me right now. Can someone please confirm that this white flip clock shows the behavior we are looking for i.e. flips from 0:00 to the current time every time we switch from any other tab to the home tab.

Here is the link for HTC Black Theme that works:

Can't wait to find out what manilla files are needed to be copied to get the desired behavior.
Does anyone here know if this might use more memory??
i changed mine to the regular flip clock and its still smooth
isnt this why Sprint and AT&T chose to go with a nonflip clock?
i just downloaded the theme i'm going to check it out. for some reason i had to rename it from a .theme to .zip so i can see all of the files and look at the code. the regular flip white cab earlier didn't have the effect that we were looking for tho.
the black theme didn't re-flip for me, even after i restored to factory settings
Any progress on this?
Finally found a thread that was working on addressing this issue. Doesn't look like anyone has figured it out yet though :-(
I'm interested, so that I can have my glass clock flip back to 0:00 every time i hit the home button

+1 on this
Hi all,
I've been leeching and surfing on this forum for quite a while now and never really took the time to post a thread when i had a question. Normally i'd search the entire place but in this case i just can't find a good solution.
So here is my first question:
A friend of mine got himself the SE- Xperia, I took a good look at it and liked the theme's a lot.
Once I received the files (Root;my documents) and tapped on one of them they didn't show up in the todayscreen wich provides .tsk themes like T-mobile1+2 etc.
Now I know I can do such things as installing a new ROM etc, but perhaps thats a little to much for such an issue.
I'm not expecting a complete walkthrough, but perhaps if someone could help me a little i'd appreciate it.
Many thanks and greets from The Netherlands
Dindnt quite understood, you want just the wallpaper?
---edit---
This one works on mine, but the bars dont get flat black.... Nothing that cant be fixed, of course.
Got it from the full theme with extras, here:
http://www.modaco.com/index.php?automodule=downloads&showfile=2479
Thank you very much,
I'll check that one out tommorrow to see if it works on my phone.
Have a look at ThemeGenCE. It allows you to customise the tsk for your phone:
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1523
And still the .tsk file isn't showing up in the todayscreen (Start>Settings>Personal>Today>Appearance)
I got stuck at the third point:
) Connect your device to your desktop by ActiveSync and explore it.
2) Transfer all the unrar'd files and folders the My Documents folder of your Pocket PC, except the rlToday folder which should be transferred to the Program Files folder.
3) Apply the Xperia skin (Start>Settings>Personal>Today>Appearance).
4) Apply the Wisbar Advance skin (Start>Programs>Wisbar Advance>Theme>Use a Theme File): \My Documents\Wisbar Advance v2.x\Xperia\Xperia.skn
5) Apply the rlToday skin (Start>Settings>Personal>Today>Items>rlToday>Options): Skin: Xperia. Note that the download also contains WM6 style .png icons if you are using PPC2003SE/WM5 and want to use more modern looking shortcuts. If you don't live in Singapore, please edit the skin.xml file to the country of your choice (notepad works).
Anyone?
Thanks
you probably can get more info on the official modaco post, lol...
I am either not using the right search terms, or searching in the wrong area...
please forgive me!
What I am looking for has got to have been done before, because I see it in themes and ROM's. I have been running "Da Mad Scientists" Onyx theme, but am looking for something more simple.
All I really want is:
1) Clear flip clock
2) Background on all tabs
3) Annoying Sprint logo gone from the top right of the screen
4) All the ugly yellow gone -please.... please.... please.
There is more, but I have been able to find CAB's to address everything else. I have found some CAB's that attempted to clear one of these 4 items off the list, but they did not work.
The main reason I want to simplify is because I did not realize how slow my phone was operating until I broke it and got a replacement. With the stock phone, I have little to no hesitation after finger taps. When I had it "tricked out", I had to wait... sometimes up to 2-3 seconds between taps. (not long, but it seems like forever when you are in a hurry)
I am running a 100% stock Sprint Touch Pro with a 16G storage card if that helps.
Thanks for your time!

Is it possible to move the date information from below the clock to above the clock in place of the annoying Sprint icon?
If not, how about removing the alarm on/off notification?
Thanks again!

#4 has been eliminated.
Found a solution!!

I take no credit for any of the following cabs. I have attached a .rar file which has:
The clear flip clock (you have to install sprint2flip clock first) and also a clock without the background flaps.
Mun's BG for all Tabs with Analog clock (if you dont like the clock, install one of the other cabs to replace it)
And the manila file that overwrites the "sprint" logo (I believe)
You have to forgive me because I no longer use the stock rom on my TP, I use WM6.5 so I cannot provide screen shots of these items, also, I want to emphasize that these are not mine, they are from when I had the stock rom and wanted to do thesame. ALL CREDIT GOES TO THE ACTUAL MAKERS OF THE CABS, NOT ME!!!
Thank you so much!!
I have saved the .zip, will test & trial soon and let you know!
Thanks to those that created the CAB's!

With the Manilla:
I am sure that I am doing it wrong; I have never delt with file replacements before. This is a shortend version of the error I am receiving...
Cannot copy... ...Access denied
Be certain that there is enough storage memory, that the destination is not write protected and that the file is not currently in use.
With the mUn Back4AllPages_AnalogClock CAB:
The clock quits working, it displays "Orange" instead of "Sprint" in the upper right corner, and the slider icons on the bottom are off center.
It does, however display the background on all tabs...
All the other CAB's work flawlessly, and I am really appreciative of your help putting these together in a ZIP for me… and thanks to all the people for their hard work putting together the CAB’s.
Just a note: 1-Sprint2FlipClock CAB also changes the top bar… it displays the date and reduces the Sprint logo to just “Sprint” text.
A little help with the Manilla would be great!
Thanks again!

Manila file
you need to use Resco Explorer or another variation of such, like total commander, this is because the regular file explorer will not allow you to overwrite the files that are in the "ROM" portion of the phone.
You can find TOTAL COMMANDER here: http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm
PS. Total Commander is also attached to this comment. Hope this helps.
Thanks so much!!
With your help, I have this phone ready to rock-n-roll!!
I hope I do not have as many issues this time as I did last time... boy it was slow!!
Thanks again!

Hi guys,
I am trying to make a lockscreen and I was wondering how to remove the arrows on the windows lockscreen on CHT2. It would be great if someone could help me.

Thanks but how do I get it to work for CHT2 lockscreen and not the original windows one...
sorry, not looked at the difference. if its still a .cpr file then its the same.
Im assuming you mean the "windows" cht lockscreen, not the manila or hd mini.....
I think this option must still utilise elements of the traditional wm lockscreen (those mentioned in sams link) and just skin the slider because Ive never come across those arrows in any of the files installed by CHT.........
You'd probably get an answer to this one over in themes and apps or even in the CHT thread.
So I've been checking out all the png files (and soon the manila files) to see which ones are arrows and I am changing them to transparent images - I hope that will work.
Anyways I tried skinning already - that didn't work. Lets hope I can find the image lol
They're not in with the cht files...
I've been through em all. Unless they are tucked away in an m9 or luau file but I haven't noticed any referring to the lockscreen.
Sam's link is the key to this one I think.
Chipped From The Bunker Via A Sandwedge
So I haven't been through the cht files but I'll trust you. In the png files in the windows folder there are identical arrows but after changing them they still show up. I tried playing around with the cpr file and I think that you guys are right - But I think Co0kie made his own cpr file which I also cant find...
Wait no it cant be the cpr files - In order to change a cht lockscreen slider you must add a manilla file - but ever cpr file says the slider exists as \windows\slider or something like that with a png at the end!
Ill ask around for an answer to this one because its bugging the hell out of me now

Thanks man that would be awesome if you could find the answer!!!
So, Conan asked me if I would look at this thread for you.
What I will tell you, is that the .cpr file is mostly a map of the lockscreen layout.
It determines sizes and positions of each element and can be easily edited with Chome Editor.
Although the images you seek are simple .png's within the Windows folder.
Should be named:
htc_arr_loop_r4.png
htc_arr_loop_l4.png
Both are 58x26
Hope that helps.
Thanks so much for that man
Was driving myself nuts looking for those pesky little arrows

Hmm, ok, then I must dig a little.
I will get back to you on this again then.
Sorry about that, I thought for sure they were shared by both.
I will check it on mine before posting further.
So, I was not clearly thinking.
Inside CHT are these images.
60EB9E41_manila and 48AC377B_manila
The others were for WinMo's own lockscreen images, and there are more of them for the notifications, etc,.
