Hey guys,
I know this has been posted somewhere in the forums, but it has no answer.
I was messing round with my unlock pattern and it locked me out, so I tried hitting the login with email button and it won't register; it tells me that my credentials are invalid. Is there another way in, or a way to go back to the unlock pattern screen? I know what the unlock pattern is but it doesn't seem like there's a way back to the screen.
Thanks guys, if anyone could reply ASAP that would be great. I can't get into my phone at all!
after five unsuccessfull tries you can log on with your googlemail credentials. if you have not entered them, lost them or don't want to enter them only solution is a wipe.

Actually this is a known bug in Cupcake. Even if you enter your Google credentials correctly it fails to authenticate. There is s workaround. See below:

Sure, but only after 5 unsuccessful tries. Do it until you hit the timed retries. Or don't if you don't want to wipe or mess with workaround. Been there done that. 1yr old got the hero in its paws.

Hi Everyone....
I'm not to the forum, and off course with my first problem.
I had too many pattern attempts and have now locked my self out of the phone.
My issue is that it's not prompting me the conventional gmail account and password options. It's just asking me for a "recovery password".
I have no idea where to get that from, nothing was sent to my Gmail. I do have my work account on here too through exchange, and nothing in my inbox.
Exact message reads: "Recovery password required to unblock phone"
Anyone have a clue where I can obtain this mysterious password, or how to bypass?
Phone is rooted with stock gingerbread.
Thanks in advance!!

i'm sorry to hear this. i cant help but i'm just curious, how many attempts does it take to lock u out of your phone?
I think if you register with Samsung Dive http://www.samsungdive.com/DiveMain.do you can remotely unlock your screen?
Hope this helps

To be completely honest, I'm not %100 sure.. But i think under 10.
The Bit** is that I know I was using the correct pattern. Even worse, it says you will need to unlock using your google account if you fail one more time. What happened? I did NOT get a google log on, rather I got that mysterious "password recovery" screen.
Like I said in my OP, Samsung didn't even know what screen/password I was talking about. It's crazy
in froyo and gingerbread, if u forgot unlock pattern, you could easily unlock using your gmail password. is there any similar alternative way to unlock in ics, except a hard reset?
If you have setup a Google account in the phone, have you checked this? Dunno if this works for phones....no harm in giving it a try, right?
If you set up a Google Account and the tablet isn't asking you for that info you can try to unlock it from this page:
https://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha (this might only work on hardware authorized by Google, I'm not sure)

nope, didnt work
edit:
hey i figured out... u need to make 20 wrong attempts in a row... (i.e. also wait for 30+30+30 secs in between).. after that the only way to unlock would be to signin to ur google account.
also, the emergency call button will only appear after 20 wrong attempts, which looks stupid...
Hi all I feel like such a doofus posting this.
I've forgotten the screen lock password for my Galaxy SII...I use the numeric PIN...not the swipe pattern.
On my last attempt a message box appeared saying that if I re-enter the password incorrectly again that "all data will be wiped" !
I cannot lose the data on this phone and all the google searches give say to a hard reset. There was a weird "tap the home key method" that I couldnt get to work as well.
Now I think I can remember the combination (it's either one or two numbers I'm positive of), but I'm too scared to enter them in just in case they are wrong.
I'm wondering if there is some sort of timer to the password attempts so they reset back to the 5 attempts I get to enter it.
Or will rebooting the phone for example reset the attempts?
It's pretty urgent because I really need to use the phone at the moment.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks.

at one stage it should have asked for your google account password, did it? if so provide your google account password and it will unlock your phone.

If u restart the phone, would u still see that u only have 1 try left ?
i had the same a little while ago, and i thought my fix was to restart the phone.
other fix that might help, i don't know if u have a backup done with CWM?
if so u could use the backup to restore and check if u still have 1 try left.
I have a Galaxy S4 that a friend owned. The friend has died and his wife is trying to get into it. She knows the gmail username and password that is binded to the phone. We can even make the phone ring using the Google account. Typing in the wrong pin 50+ times incorrectly is not bringing up the screen where you can unlock it using the gmail username and password. Is there another way to go about doing this?
Thanks in advance.

Does it have Android Device Manager installed on it? If so, you can change it online. Just Google "Android Device Manager", and use the lock option to change the passcode.

It says Lock and Wipe though. I don't want to wipe it out. Are you 100% sure this will work?

Is the lock and erase option say "Set up Lock & Erase"?
I need your help. For days I've been trying to access my Google Account that created my dad on the z5c. Since I did not remember the pin of the screen unlock I did a hard reset flashing the latest version downloaded by xperiafirm. But when I turned on, I was asked for my Google Account again. For days now I am trying to retrieve my password, but I can not do it. I read the same discussion on a z5, but there was no solution because it was assumed to be a stolen cell phone, the same thing that Google believes for mine I suppose...
Unfortunately, I passed the account I used on my xzp and done it, after which my father created another account on the z5c, leaving it unused for a couple of months. And now that I wanted to use it as a second phone I can not access it anymore. Is there any solution that you will not continue to try to unnecessarily restore your account from the Google page? Unfortunately they do not even have a telephone help, they only have a forum support center in which I keep saying that I must insist on trying to recover password ... I hope in a solution.
I don't get it... a full flash process is supposed to erase everything, so the prompt should ask you to sign-in or create a new account. Am I missing something ?

It asks to sign in with my account witch I'have forgotten password...
okay, but according to what you wrote, it seems that you're stuck at the prompt. If you can't create a new account, you are likely trying to access to a locked phone, meaning it might be stolen actually (and of course you probably did not flash it). If it is really yours, you can recover your password. Otherwise, nothing can help.

I apologize for my clarity. I'm trying to retrieve the password through the Google passes for several days, but with no results. The phone is mine, then given to my dad when i bought xz premium, he created this new account forgot the passwords and left for 3 or 4 months unused. Now I can not retrieve that password, although I'm always connected to the same WiFi network and I do not understand why Google does not recognize me as a proprietor, I tried to contact them in the forum where they do "help" but they tell me that l The only way is to endlessly try their questions
don't apologize, you're welcome. The fact is that, if you're not able to recover the password, nothing on the world would do a miracle. I'm sorry if you have some datas that you would get back, but the only solution for you is to create a new account. Don't waste your time trying to sign in.

Ahaha thank you bro :highfive:
No, the point is that I do not care about the data because there was nothing apart from music saved by my father. Also because before I gave it I reset the phone and then he created this new account. The point is, Google does not make me create a new account, but wants that created by my father.
If someone needs them, I've resolved doing the downgrade to Android 5 lollipop ?.
