O2 internet for unlocked Orange S740 - S740, S743 General

Did lots of searching but all the settings i have tried dont work for me. My contract O2 sim in my HTC HD works fine, but when I have put the sim in the Rose cant get any internet,MSN or anything, tried most settings but to no avail. My sim was from my iphone, so its ok for internet just tried about everything.
Any help much appreciated

Luve Google, this took lots of finding
To spare anyone else the misery that I endured to do this, here are the details for HTC S710 GPRS configuration on O2 Contract tariffs. There are plenty of sites out there that provide the logons and relevant IPs for the other Service Providers and I’m sure this procedure will work on those too (with the relevant details changed):
GPRS
From the home screen select ‘Start’, ‘Settings’, ‘Connections’, ‘GPRS’, and select ‘NEW…’
•Call it ‘O2 GPRS’ (or any name you prefer)
•Connects To: The Internet
•Access Point: mobile.o2.co.uk
•Username: mobileweb
•Password: password
•Auth type: PAP
•Primary DNS: 193.113.200.200
•Secondary DNS: 193.113.200.201
•IP Address: leave blank
Press ‘Done’ twice to get back to the connections menu.
HTTP Proxy
Select ‘Proxy’ and select ‘New…’
•Call it ‘O2 HTTP Proxy’ (or any name you prefer)
•Connects From: The Internet
•Connects To: WAP Network
•Proxy: 193.113.200.195:8080
•Type: HTTP
•Username: leave blank
•Password: leave blank
Press ‘Done’ twice to get back to the connections menu.
Socks5 Proxy
Select ‘Proxy’ and select ‘New…’
•Call it ‘O2 Socks Proxy’ (or any name you prefer)
•Connects From: The Internet
•Connects To: WAP Network
•Proxy: 193.113.200.195:1080
•Type: Socks5
•Username: leave blank
•Password: leave blank
Press ‘Done’ twice to get back to the connections menu.
Press ‘Menu’ and select ‘Advanced’, all connections should read ‘Automatic’
Press the ‘Home’ key to exit to Home Screen
Open Internet Explorer
•Select ‘Menu’, ‘Tools’, ‘Options’, ‘Connections’
•Untick the ‘Automatically detect settings’ option
•Change the ‘Select Network’ to ‘WAP Network’
•Press ‘Done’ twice.
That should be that, you should now be able to browse on your S710 (including HTTPS).

I've managed to get WAP over GPRS working now - these intructions from O2 are what I followed - except that I first deleted teh existing connection (Right-tap on it and select delete):
Xda II GPRS WAP manual settings Pre-pay
It is not possible to select the 'Prepaid' option within 'My Xda' Connections in the O2 Active UI on the XdaII - 'Postpaid' is selected as default and cannot be changed.
To use the XdaII with an O2 Prepay SIM then the WAP settings will need to be changed manually - note that it will not be necessary to carry out a hard (full) reset in order to complete this.
IMPORTANT - once the WAP settings have been changed, if a hard reset is carried out at some future point, then the settings will automatically be re-configured back to Postpaid and they will need to be manually changed again..
XdaII Manual Setup - GPRS WAP (Prepay)
Tap Start > Settings
Tap 'Connections' tab
Tap 'Connections' icon
Under 'My Work Network' tap 'Manage existing connections'
Tap 'Edit'
The 'Select a modem:' drop-down box should be set to 'Cellular Line (GPRS)'
Tap 'Next'
Access Point Name: payandgo.o2.co.uk
Tap 'Next'
Usernameayandgo
Password: password
Domain: leave blank
Tap 'Advanced'
On the 'TCP/IP' tab, only 'Use server-assigned IP address' should be selected
Tap the 'Servers' tab
Only 'Use server-assigned addresses' should be selected
Tap 'OK'
Tap 'Finish'
Tap 'Proxy Settings' tab (*Note, the soft keyboard may be hiding this tab - tap the keyboard icon at bottom right to clear this away)
Ensure that 'This network connects to the Internet' box is ticked
Ensure that 'This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet' box is ticked
Tap 'Advanced'
In the 'WAP' field (Server) enter: 193.113.200.195
In the field to the right of this (Port) enter: 9201
Tap 'OK' and exit
Once you have installed the settings into your handset and saved them, please switch off your handset and switch it back on. This will activate the settings for you.
you can still have full internet on o2 p&g, mines working fine
so you can actually use Interent Explorer to reach html pages?
Can you check out your settings and see how they differ from what's in my last post? Then I'll see if I can get this working too...
Just a quick not here. Try changing the http port to 8080 instead of the default 80 (thanks to gugi_sat). All works perfectly for me now Just need MMS now.

MMS Working!-XDA I- Read this if u hate OPTUS cust support..

If you have struggled to enable MMS on you XDA I then read further...
My XDA
OS: PPC2002
ROM: 3.20.06 ENG
ROM DATE: 07/30/03
RADIO: 4.21.00
Service Provider: OPTUS (Australia)
Software you need: EZWAP ver:2.5 (search google for a download)
Other things before starting: I am under the impression that you need to ask your service provider to enable mms on yor account before it will work? I got my sim-card in Feb 2004, and never asked optus to enable mms on my device (i only asked them for their server settings - which they couldnt give me cuz they suck) Mine works, so i'm assuming its enabled by default. Just ask them anyways.
And finally before we start: This xda is not (to my knowledge) cooked in any way. It is just as i got it.
I've tested this 3 times now, and it worked perfectly every time. Since i'm using optus (prepaid) and i couldnt find ANY details anywhere on the net for optus network MMS settings, i'm posting it here for all who are just as fed up with the lame-ass customer service as i am.
(This is quite a long post, but im taking it hell into detail here. Another thing.. its written in dumbass language so if i say something like "click OK (top right of screen)" then just think of all the newbies )

-------------------------------
This should work now when you send or receive MMS messages!!! yayy!
Here are a few problems i've picked up; they might happen to you and then again might not... if anyone has a solution for them please let me know
1) When you get a mms message, it will display a notification on your screen. When i choose to 'get now' it just does nothing. I have to go to my inbox and the message is there, then select to download. Not a big problem, but kinda irritating? I think someone else in these forums had the same problem.
2) Whenever i used my phone on my XDA it doesnt allow me to 'close' the phone-application. thus its always running in the background then. It's like i'm just swapping between the today screen and phone. ANyways, the problem is this:
the MMS works as long as i havent used the phone. It seems that the phone application (or connection or whatever) is conflicting with the EzWAP software, or the GPRS connection or something. The only way i can get MMS to work after using the phone is by doing soft-reset. Then everything works fine. I'm guessing that if your phone is closing properly then you wouldnt have this problem at all.
If this has happened to anyone (the phone not closing) and you have fixed it please let us know!
3) This is unrelated to MMS.
I cant do a soft-reset when my SD card (1GB Ridata 66X) is inside the unit. When i do this, i just get a blank white screen. When i take the card out and soft-reset then it works fine. Any ideas?
Thats it, happy MMS'ing!!!
The cost (for anyone interested) of sending a mms message to myself and receiving it was AU$0.60 in total. This is on the OPTUS network, using prepaid.
ok, if this even helped ONE person then i'm happy
His Lordship JayDA I
yep one it is me
well thanks for your so precise explanation
cos of it i manage to config my access to vodafone.pt and send a mms
so THANKs thank you thanks
some problems still but.....time is on my side lol

Cingular 3100 MMS/Internet on Rogers Canada

i'm looking for a bit of registry help with my Cingular 3100.
i'm using Rogers in Canada, and i got the MMS/Internet settings for rogers from one of the other forums...
my problem is that i can't set it up so that i can use both... i can set it so one works, or the other, but not both... having to change when switching from being MMS capable, to browsing the internet, will be a pain that i don't think i'll be able to remember all the time, so i'd rather be able to set it, and forget it.
the plan is to use my "Rogers GPRS" (GPRS Settings), for Internet... and "Rogers MMS" (also a set of GPRS Settings), for "Work" and assign MMS to function over connection "Work"...
problem: i can't set "Work" to "Rogers MMS"...
any thoughts?
for others that might be struggling with this, my solution was to use something other than the "work" connection... which is primairly used for VPN connections... the original author of a tool to make this work setup a dummy, or null VPN and linked the "work" connection pointer through that to the MMS settings... instead, i used a different pointer. namely the "WAP Network" pointer.
for other service providers review here and get your network service providers GPRS/MMS settings and substitute accordingly.
otherwise...
the following is all the information needed to connect a Windows Mobile Smartphone to Rogers with MMS services:
first is to create a new connection: (Start > Settings > Connections > GPRS)
Name the connection appropriately, in this example, i will be using "Rogers MMS"
tell the device this connection connects to "WAP Network" (this is a pointer)
Connection Settings:
Access Point:
"media.com"
User name:
"wapuser1"
Password:
"wap"
leave primary/secondary DNS and IP Address blank, and okay the connection.
before leaving the connection menu (not GPRS), select menu (right softkey) > Advanced, and make sure "WAP Connection" is set to Rogers MMS (or equivilant).
next, go into your text messages, and Select "Options" from the menu; select account options > MMS. next, select "MMSC Settings" from the menu (right softkey). Create a (or modify an existing) Profile for Rogers, with the following information:
MMSC URL:
WAP Gateway:
"172.25.0.107"
Port:
"8080"
Connect Via:
"WAP Network"
the name and max sending size can be, more or less, anything. be aware that not all files will be sent due to file size; the standard limit is 300kb.
select done, and head back to your inbox. select "switch Accounts" from the menu, and select MMS; attempt a trial message to yourself. this will confirm both the ability to send and recieve MMS messages on the rogers network.
------ end MMS Tutorial ---------
the following, is the accompanying configuration for internet access on Windows Mobile 5 enabled smartphones:
Create a new GPRS Connection (Start > Settings > Connections > GPRS), for this example, we will call the new connection "Rogers GPRS".
this connection:
Connects to:
"The Internet"
Access Point:
"internet.com"
User Name:
"wapuser1"
Password:
"wap"
Primary/Secondary DNS and IP Address: all blank.
finally check the advanced settings in the connection menu (right softkey in connections menu), and ensure "Rogers GPRS" is used for "The Internet".
attempt to access a page using Pocket IE, the device should automatically establish the GPRS/EDGE connection.

Can you get the 5.99 tzone plan working on htc s740?

Can you get the 5.99 tzone plan working on htc s740?
here is how to get it working on the dash
Internet and Networking Tweaks
Unlimited internet with the $5.99 T-MobileWeb service
The $29.99/month T-Mobile Total Internet package is not required to have unlimited internet access on the Dash, instead the $5.99 T-MobileWeb service is all you need. Note the following limitations to the T-MobileWeb internet service:
1. The internet applications on your device will need to have an option to specify a connection to a proxy server, if it doesn't have this option then the application most likely will not be able to access the internet.
2. The following applications will not work over T-MobileWeb: MSN Messenger, Agile Messenger (without the proxy option), some streaming media, Hotmail, Pocket MSN, and Java applications.
To setup the internet connection over T-MobileWeb follow these instructions:
1. Add the $5.99 T-MobileWeb service to your current voice plan (it may take up to 72 hours to activate, but typically takes less than 24 hours).
2. Follow the below instructions to setup the Dash:
Start Menu -> Settings -> Connections -> Proxy -> T-Zones Proxy setup
Connects from: WAP Network
Connects to: The Internet
Proxy (name : port): 216.155.165.50:8080
Type: HTTP
User name: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Start Menu -> Settings -> Connections -> GPRS-> T-Mobile Data
Connects to: WAP Network
Access point: wap.voicestream.com
User name: <blank>
Password: <blank>
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
IP address: <blank>
Start Menu -> Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Options -> Connections
"Automatically detect settings" is unchecked
Select network: The Internet (Must be set to "The Internet" to work over WiFi. Try "WAP Network" if you're having trouble over the EDGE/GPRS connection)
Start Menu -> Messaging -> Options -> Account Settings
Network: WAP Network

O2 UK pay and go settings

mods, if this is in the wrong subforum please move to the correct area.
right i had an interesting problem today, i took off wifi and lost my data connection completly.
so heres ho to rectify this if it happens to anyone else.
please not these settings are for a uk vpad7 (it mite work with the vpad10 but im not guarenteeing it)
firstly you need to navigate to the APN settings to get there
menu>settings>wireless & network>mobile networks>access point names
now your in the apn setting menu, select the top box (O2 mobile web, underneath the bold heading it will say mobile.o2.co.uk <<< this is incorrect)
so go ahead and click to get into it.
there will be multiple settings, most of these will need editing.
Name - leave as is
APN - payandgo.o2.co.uk
Proxy - leave as is (if still not working change to Not set)
Port - leave as is (if still not working change to Not set)
Username - payandgo
Password - password
Server - http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
MMSC - http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
MMS Proxy - 193.113.200.195
MMS Port - 8080
MCC - 234
MNC - 10
Authentication type - leave as is (if still not working change to Not set)
APN type - default
once again these are the setting for getting mobile internet to work on the vpad 7, with these settings i now have a H (indicating i have a hsdpa connection) and a full signal bar in the notification area.
