Japanese Nike (HT1100) Upgrade ROM or Language Extender, advice needed

I am currently living in Japan and have just picked up a new HT1100 (Touch Dual) on the Docomo network.
This is my first smartphone/PDA and I am very happy with it except for the language problem.
The entire system is in Japanese and I would like to change it to English. I have tried asking Docomo who didn't have a clue what to do and it seems that the original English software has been completely removed and replaced with an all-Japanese ROM.
I have never changed the ROM on a smartphone before but I am willing to give it a go but I have a few questions which I can't find answers to by searching -
1, Would it be better for me to try and find an English language pack (if one exists)?
2, If I do have to change the ROM completely then which would be the best one for me?
3, If everything gets screwed up then what are my chances of unbricking it and putting the original Japanese software back on?
4, If everything goes to plan and I change the software to a hacked version can I still use my Docomo sim card in it? Or is there some kind of security check between the sim card and the phone that means the card will only work with the Docomo ROM?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm a bit of a newbie at this and don't want to ruin a brand new phone that I am otherwise so happy with!
Read the Sticked Thread about HardSPL and make all Steps!!!
Read 10 Pages of the Thread befor you try this. Then you know all errors you can have and it prevent use for the same questions they all ready posted hehehe
After that ... looks around for a Favorit Rom and try it! If you have a Problem ... read the first 10 Pages of the Thread!
^_^
neon 100
japanese ht1100 code name is neon 100 not niki,
so do not flash niki radio or rom to ht1100(neon 100).
Thanks for the replies!
I will certainly read each step carefully before I flash the phone with new ROM.
But before I do I just want to check one thing to be completely clear - are you saying that after I put on this new homebrew ROM I will DEFINITELY be able to use my Docomo sim card in it without any problems?
Also, what settings would I need to enter on the new phone to use it properly? ie, when I flashed normal phones in the past I needed to re-enter all the MMS/internet settings. Is it the same with these smartphones or are there any other settings I will need to get?

2, If I do have to change the ROM completely then which would be the best one for me? I think your device is a Neon, if i'm correct that i think i'm the only one cooking Neon Roms .
3, If everything gets screwed up then what are my chances of unbricking it and putting the original Japanese software back on? Dump your original Rom before doing anything that way you can always manage to flash it back.
4, If everything goes to plan and I change the software to a hacked version can I still use my Docomo sim card in it? Or is there some kind of security check between the sim card and the phone that means the card will only work with the Docomo ROM? Is your phone Network locked? Have you tried a sim card from another Network?

hi,I have same handset with you , and have flashed english rom , if you want to flash any english rom,I think you will cannt use docomo network mms, hi-speed data plan etc.
and cannt accesse internet. so, must dump docomo original rom before flash other english rom. good luck.
I don't know if my phone is network locked as I have not tried another sim yet but I wouldn't be surprised if it it.
Actually, after mailing HTC Japan they have pointed me in the direction of an English language pack sold by another company. I have to wait another 24 hours before I can use it but it looks promising - http://www.cfcompany.co.jp/product/mobem/mobem.html
If Aten is right then flashing the phone will be no use to me if the Docomo sim card doesn't work.
I will wait and try this language pack to see how that works out. Maybe after that I will consider flashing the ROM.

The MMS and Connection settings are store either in *.Rgu files or *.Xml files on the Rom, not sure which ones. I had the same issue with my Telstra branded Rom, the network settings were built in so i couldn't connect to any other network. If you dump your rom and upload it up i can have a look and extract these settings for you.
Cheers
Well that language pack software arrived last night and I installed it without any problems.
It all seems pretty good. Not everything is translated but its enough to make the phone useable for me.
The only major issue I have is that it seems incompatible with the whole Touchflo interface. The touchflo will not open my videos or, photos or music files any more. I cannot use the Touchflo shortcuts and it seems I am also unable to set an MP3 as my ringtone/alarm etc.
Is there something I could change to make this work?
I am busy with work for the next few days but will see if I can upload this ROM on the weekend.

[Q] French Orange

Hello Folks,
Let me say sorry if this is in the wrong place.
The story is--My wife found a brand new HTC HD2 in the Airport while travelling home,It is in French and locked to Orange,I want to try and open the thing so it can be used on any network and also in English.I have had no experience with this type of kit so i thought id ask here.I have done the factory hard reset but that didnt do anything really,I was thinking of flashing the ROM but i dont know where to get the ROM or how to flash it,I tried the HTC site but it wont let me download anything :-(
Can anybody help?
Thanks
hspl will allow you to flash any rom you like, any language, get the roms from the rom development section, 'Leo Official Roms' thread.
no, flashing a rom will not allow you to use any network. Only way to unlock is either get a code from orange (not likely!) or buy one from online.
(found at the airport, eh? it was 'just lying there in some guys coat pocket' eh?? hehe)
****!!! **** !!! It's my device ! ! ! ****! !!!
LOL (bad) joke, i'm tired ^^
To change ROM: Like sam' says, u need HSPL your phone use ROM Dev' Section...
For Unlock, hum Orange ...^^ You need the code from orange to unlock^^
I don't know if you can use one from http://www.htcsimunlock.com/ ...
Or send me the device, i have many firends who works for this provider

[Q] Serious problem.. pls help..

Hello guys sorry for creating new thread. i know i should ask it from Q&A thread.
I recently bought HTC HD2 from my friend in Sweden.
Problem is when i put my TELE2 SIM it's still seeking service sometimes it's says no service. But amazingly 3G and H is still working i can surf but i cant talk. Then i put another SIM (Telenor) and its working perfectly. What does it mean? it's came with the original swedish frimware and why swedish carrier isn't working? Both of them(Tele2 , Telenor) Swedish carrier.
Now i guessing maybe it's stolen phone. Perhaps original owner reported and my IMEI blacklisted. But why telenor is working perfectly. ? Sorry for asking lot of question. But my phone is just brick now. and i can see little red light on my speaker it's still working even i locked it. i tried to Soft reset , hard reset , factory reset, restore with orginal frimware , none of them worked. Pls help...

[Q] Returning to Stock Rom and Zune Updates

Hi Everyone,
I’m new to this forum.
I finally figured out how to unbranded my HTC Mozart (TMO-DE), after reading several posts from very helpful people like Ansar. The procedure I used was:
Flash TMO-DE 1.09
After the Flashing has failed and phone reboots
Flash another ROM (HTC-EU 1.30 or HTC-EU Mango)
And it worked...
Anyway after doing this, I noticed very little difference and so I would like to return to my original branded software.
So I flashed back one of the TMO-DE roms, (1.20, 1.25, 1.28). And it was back to what looked like the original software.
However when I connect my phone to Zune, I can’t get any updates.
I assume its because something has changed on my since I used TMO-DO 1.09.
Does anyone know how to return my phone back to its original condition?
Can anyone help me?
Many Thanks,
Daniel
More problems - Please Help!!
Now i have another problem, apart from not being able to get any updates.
Also it seems there is a problem with my bootloader.
I've lost the PD6700 and its been replaced by some strange unreadable characters. And now I cant change the ROM anymore.
Any ideas? Is there anyway to re-load the boot loader?
Thanks
The_Raul
try reading some of my posts, might help you
Hi i have the same problem. What can i do??
Same problem
I'm stuck with DFT 7713 ROM. I tried to go back to NoDo. I used the following NoDo version software "RUU_Mozart_HTC_Europe_1.30.401.01_5.54.09.21_22.33b.50_RELEASE" on my HTC Mozart. But it did not happen. Mine is an unlocked phone. Can someone please help me with the following questions?
1. If and when the official mango hits my region (India), would it automatically upgrade to the 7720? If so, I shall sit quiet.
2. If the answer for the first one is no, then how do I downgrade? Or is there a way to get rid of this DFT thing?
Thanks a lot. I'm kind of frustrated with this problem . Please help.
Greetings!
hi neusun,
AFAIK zune will not update custom ROMs. you will have to manually update. keep looking into the forums and you will find something. tons of ROMs and many, many talented guys are here. try ansar's ROMs.
yes its a pain in the ass but hey we chose command over convenience, right ?
