New Radio Firmware Hotfix from HTC Taiwan - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

Here is what seems to be a new radio update from the official HTC Taiwan site.
Anyone willing to give it a try?
http://www.htc.com/tw/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=140&cat=0&dl_id=787

Okay the new radio firmware version is 1.13.25.55. Haven't done any test on it yet, but if anyone could tell me a method to extract the NBH file from the Exe file, then I can upload it for share. Otherwise this update will only execute on firmware version 5.07.xxx or lower

double posts...

Just right-click on the .exe and click extract.
You need winrar though. Or some other piece of software that can extract from self extracting archives.
I'm uploading it now, though.
Actually, it just finished!
http://hotfile.com/dl/19664947/07b7dc7/HTC_Touch_Pro_RUU_RAP_S00947_20091112.zip.html
Enjoy.

Just some preliminary test results.
btw, i'm on AT&T network
1. GPS is worst than 1.14 and 1.17 versions, since I no longer get gps reception in my house
2. Wifi More or less the same
3. 3G speed has improved significantly, it clocked a whopping 2.94MB/s download speed while tethered to my pc, I usually only get about 2.20MB/s or less. I used www.speedtest.net for speed test.
4. Battery life has yet to be determined, since I just flashed a new rom and will take a few days to recaliberate the battery.
Since I haven't been outside yet, it's difficult to tell whether the GPS performs better or worst than 1.14 and 1.17 radios
Overall it's a solid radio, though I may revert back to 1.14 if the GPS doesn't perform as desired

Radio versioning
Are you sure, that 1.14.25.35 is newer then 1.13.25.55?
I think it isn't.
I think, that the second number is not a version number, but other kind of information - like target region or something.
So we should ignore second number in radio versioning and we've got:
1..25.35
1..25.55
Skype is versioned in a similar way. As far as I remember, the 3rd number in version is a brand code.
What do you think about it?

I just tried the Diamond Radio upgrade a few days ago and it is nothing special. the 1.17.... is better.

ROM Questions

Not to long ago i update to DCD's latest rom and radio. I never got the GPS to work for some reason though. I was wondering with the new verizon ROM out is there an easier way to get GPS. Could i flash to verizons new rom so that i have the radio and the rom and then flash back to dcds and still keep verizons radio. Becasue for some reason i just cant get the GPS to work with DCDs rom. Also i have noticed my phone lagging a TON latly and im not sure why. My contacts wont open somtimes and when i answere a call or dial out it rings but it doesnt show the phone on the screen untill about 45 seconds into the call. its been a pain coming out of sleep too and i dont think im running that much stuff on it. Any Suggestions?
(i also am getting a white spot on my screen, i have heard of this happening before. Is it a problem that gets worse and is there anything verizon can do to fix it?)
First off, if you load Verizon's latest update, you will not be able to use GPS as of yet unless you pay for VZNavigator.
If you have radio 3.42.50 and Rom 3.2.6, you should have no problem getting GPS to work.
1) Go to Settings... Phone... Services... and check the box next to 911 only. Then click ok. Exit... Soft-reset if you feel like it. Then go back and change it to Location On. Click ok... soft-reset.
2) Do the GPS - Fix found HERE
3) Download GPS Viewer... I have it attached. When you run it... hit scan.. this will find what port the GPS is on. Then select that port and hit Open Port. This will start streaming data. Go to GPS Status at the bottom... and you should see some locations popping up if you are in open air.
Let me know if you get this far.
that program you gave me doesnt work on windows mobile. thats a Computer version.
nevermindi was wrong. im just having priblems connecting to my computer. do you have a cab file?

Here you go.
It works!!!! Awesome! It reads the GPS port. VZ navigator still doesn't work on the xv6800. It keeps loading privacy policy and then saysits unable to getr policy setting.
But at least the GPS works now after the rom update. Thank you!
GPS won't work???
Verizon XV6800
dcd_titan_3.2.6
DCD Radio 3.42.50
SPL 240
Location set to on
(tried toggle between 911 and location on)
Ran GPSVIEW scan... found GPS on com4
set external gps program port to com4
hardware port set to none
set to automatically managed
tried reflashing rom
soft reset a million times
what else can i try?
Soon to flash...
I am probably going to finally flash a DCD rom for the first time today. It would be nice though if the images or software downloads on the GPS fix wiki were available. That's the only thing holding me back right now. GPS is the only reason to flash for me, so I want to make sure I can get it working.
GPS on VX8600 rules!
Well I finally gave in and flashed the newest DCD rom & radio. Wish I had done that a long time ago. I was having no luck with the GPS till I read this thread. The the GPS locks super fast and is VERY accurate in Google Maps. This site rules.
While I am technical, I new new to everything phone related.
I have Radio 3.37.75 and ROM 3.57.605.1
Do I need to go back and install a different Radio and Rom version to run the GPS fix and enable GPS?
Thanks!

You need to install a custom rom ( to replace the 3.57.605.1 VZ Rom) to enable the GPS chip on the phone. That rom has the GPS disabled. DCD 3.2.6 rom is what i'm using and it runs pretty sweet.
As far as the Radio rom goes, i dont think you have to update it. There some debates going on in the forums about wheither the new VZ radio rom is better or worse then the current radio rom that was ripped from attel. Some say its better, some say its really the same (same file size) and some say its way worse.
So in summary, to run the GPS Fix, atleast install DCD's custrom rom first. (Note: Do not let Custimization run, the rom is based off a latest sprint rom, so letting it run as a verizon users messes things up. soft reset after initial bootup after a flash and pull the battery if it starts to do it. also remember to hard reset after flashing any rom)
PS. If you flash the radio rom, you will have to do *228 again to reprogram your number back into the phone.

If you flash DCD 3.2.6 do let customization run, he rips out the carrier specific stuff out of the rom, so it can actually hurt not to run customization on his rom. Only stop customization run if you are flashing an original carrier specific rom that is not your current carrier, i.e. if you flash a sprint original rom on a VZ phone, etc.
While based on a Sprint rom, he has taken the time to make it safe to run on any carriers phone.
DCD's customization runs UC and I think a few other house cleaning items, so it's important for it to run.

HTC HD2 - Phone Doesn't Ring Sometimes

I have an HTC HD2 and I'm on T-mobile. What I've noticed is that my phone doesn't ring sometimes and then I'll just get a voicemail notification (if voicemail was left). It's an intermittent issue, I've tested it several times from another line.
Does anybody know what the issue is? I did a search on Google and there seems to be a lot of the same issues others are having across other networks and other versions of the HTC but, haven't found a solution.
Thanks
i had never heard of this issue until yesterday, when my phone simply did not ring, then i got a txt asking why i didnt answer. very confusing. only seemed to happen once. i have done a lot of tweaks, so maybe ive changed something i shouldnt have. if it helps im using a generic, unbraded, factory unlocked HD2, with CleanEX DsE 3.5 and radio 2.11. have you tried re-flashing the ROM and seeing if that helps?
interestingly, i have noticed that my signal can be irratic at times, often just dropping for no reason, then coming back about 30 seconds later. i live in a full signal area, so i know thats not a problem. also my data connection will 'freeze' at times, where it shows its connected, but nothing is able to use it, i have to disconnect and reconnect, and this may take 2 or 3 attempts before it connects and is usable. have you experienced the same issues?

I haven't tried flashing the ROM, I've been hesitant on doing that since I feel like I might mess something up. I'm not sure how to either. I have SPB backup, so I would hope if I messed something up then I would be able to easily restore it.
I haven't really noticed any dropping, my call qualities have been good. I've tried to dial a number before and it might drop right then while it's trying to make the call. So, I'll redial the number but, once I'm connected I haven't noticed any issues with calls dropping.
Data connection has been working pretty good as well, I've been using the wifi quite a bit and not really had any issues. I don't have a data plan setup with T-Mobile so I just use the wifi. I don't know if using the actual data connection would give different results than using the wifi.
flashing a rom is really easy it's all autoinstall, just have to read carefully / look at the video's, there A LOT of them out there.

updating the rom may help, as it will also update the radio drivers. what i would suggest, if you dont have much experience in flashing a ROM is to have a look on the official HTC support site. on there it will give you a list of updates avalible for your phone. download the latest ROM for your phone (for me, this is WWE 1.66 with radio 2.06) and install that. any data on an sd card will remain intacted, but sync you phone with outlook and backup stuff like contacts, messages etc before you do it. i personally use microsoft myphone to do all that.
flashing the ROM with an official one is very straight forward, and as quoted above, its all auto install on the phone, and there are about 3 or 4 steps that you need to do PC side (this is all explained in the update program you download). i would give that a go and see if things improve, you will also gain improved performance, new features and better battery life with newer ROMs, so its worth doing
custom roms are a bit more tricky to install, but often offer more features and improvements over stock roms. if you need help with this have a search on the forums, there are lots of guides and help on how to flash with a custom rom

I have a T-Mobile HTC HD2 (U.S.) and I went to the HTC site and on the download page for the ROM update it has ROM Version: 1.66.707.1. When I check the ROM version on my phone it is: 2.10.531.1.1 (82076) WWE
Also it says on there - Note: This update is not intended for use on T-Mobile(US) HTC HD2, and doing so may have undesired side effects.
So, I suppose I'll have to start looking into the custom ROM's.

good job you didnt flash that, the 'undesired side effect' of flashing that official rom (or any other non tmous official rom) on your tmous phone would have been a permanently dead phone.
im not sure about tmous roms, maybe have a look on the t-mobile us support site and see if anything is listed there. if you want to look at custom roms the first thing you will need to do is get hspl (the latest version is hspl3, which i believe is compatible with tmous). if you search on the forums you can find the official thread. this removes the security checks and allows you to install custom roms. after that you will need to choose a radio version. again search on the forum and find the latest one compatible with your hd2 (there is an official radio thread which i would look at). this normally comes with an updater program included, but if not, search for 'custom ruu' and follow the instructions on the thread. finally you need to pick a custom rom. there are literally 100s to choose from, with different features, looks, apps and even some android builds. personally, i use cleanex dse because of its speed and stability. im not sure if this is tmous compatible, so check on the rom threads.
alternativly, you could have a hardware fault with your phone, which will be repaired under warrenty, so you could go down this route. personally, i would do this first and see if things improve, as although custom roms can be uninstalled and the steps can be reversed, the warrenty is voided by using hspl and installing custom roms.
still have the problem? Might not need a hard reset. Try this solution here:
(LINK)
One of your programs might have deleted the "Volatile" folder, so
no Volatile folder => no WMPlayer => no MP3 playback => no ringtone.
Re-creating an empty "\Application Data\Volatile" folder usually brings it all back.
If it fixes the problem temporarily and recurs again, you might have to change the temp folder as outlined in the link above, or just install that CAB.
Hope this helps. If this solves your problem, please edit/add [solved] to your title.

I have the same problem. Sometimes incoming call does't ring, altough the phone vibrates. I'm using an european HD2 with the original 1.48 rom. I didn't found the reason... the changed tweak... the influencing application installed. It seems happening randomly, I can get a call without incoming call ring and after a few minutes I can get a second call from the same caller with a normal ring.

Thanks a lot to diaramja for providing source of the new Radio image.
I've packed it into a ZIP file, you can copy the zip file into SD card and flash it in Recovery.
Or if you like, extract radio.img from the ZIP and fastboot flash radio.
Also I've attached a screenshot of my About Phone screen.
Please PM me if you have a mirror to the ZIP file, because I'm not sure how reliable MediaFire is.
Hope you'll have a good time with the new radio image!

radio.img: 263fb298d747f9e5632b373c69ce7893
P.S. The "Last modified date" of radio.img is 2008-09-10, I'm pretty sure on that date Nexus One didn't exist yet probably the person who compiled the radio image had wrong date on his/her computer.
EDIT:
------------------------
If you get "signature verification" error, please use a recovery which ignores signature (I apologize I don't know how to sign the package what I did was simply removing radio.img from a FRG33 radio upgrade package and put the new radio in it) or use fastboot flash radio.

MD5? Prefer if this one was a zip file so we can verify file integrity.
Flashing a bad radio would be the end of a N1

downloaded and flashed... works fine till now
Cant comment on performance; but my phone isn't on fire after flashing it... so that's a plus
Im using nexus in korea, today flashed this ota update and noticed that
battery life have greatly improved, touchscreen issue has been fixed, speed and cover on 3g still same.
Wifi and email has been fixed too.
Because the touchscreen fix its a great update. But still sucks because all this problem shouldnt be happen. Poor htc.
By the way: Kernel version has changed to htc-kernel. What it means? This update was did by htc not google?
op hasn't posted this up yet so thought I would, heres a miiror for the radio

Enjoy
what do you mean by the touchscreen issue being fixed, I mean I thought the multi touch issue was because of the digitizer (hardware issue not software issue), wait so that means we no longer have the multi touch issue, can someone confirm this
Finally a new radio. I guess the real test will come to see if i'm missing calls though. With 5.08 i would have signal but calls go to voicemail and had dropped calls too when travelling down I-95!

Multitouch problem still here - device still register only 2 points
Btw as i know - older units shipped with Synaptics 0101 touchscreen. My one have slcd screen and synaptics 0103 touchscreen. Why google didnt change this fancy sh..?
Verification failed, cant install
its not signed you probably have to flash clockwork mod recovery or amon ra 1.80 or greater. amon ra 1.70 has no disabling of verifications

[Q] best radio image for HTC Aria

hey there, im unsure about this radio image thing, would someone tell me about it and also could someone post a link with the best image, thankyou
There's really only 2 radio versions floating around for US Arias. There's the old one that it shipped with originally, and this updated version that came with the 2.2 update:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007684
You can get the image from that thread and flash it from CWR (check the md5 sum first or you will brick your phone). Or, the safer way is to run the official RUU to upgrade to 2.2 (will install the above radio), then run AlphaRevX to S-OFF.
I should add that there doesn't seem to be a huge difference in call quality between the two radios, but YMMV.
+1 I've used both radio images and the newer one shows slightly better signal strength (47.63.35.21U_7.16.35.11), for me at least. The gps did lock in a little faster. If you go to menu-Settings-About phone-Software information, in the Baseband version (shows radio you're using) the older one I believe ended in a 6 and the newer does end in 11. If you use Astro File manager you can long press the zip, choose details to see the MD5 checksum. Or you can use AFV (Android file verifier), it's a free download in the market. Personally, I would say go with the newer one, not everyone will see an improvement but from what I've read most do. Verify the MD5 checksum!!!
As far as gps goes the biggest improvement I've seen is using this gps script. Instantaneous GPS Fixation CWR v1.2 US & INTERNATIONAL FINAL http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11342772&postcount=1 I used the one for my region (South Mid States), there's versions for different countries also . With this script gps locks in very fast and very accurate.
You can also use GPS Status to reset and download new assistance data, it's a free download in the market, it works great to show how many satellites your gps sees and how many it's locked into. Screenshot of GPS Status taken inside house using above script.

I get the feeling you're not rooted. IF that's the case, then you don't have cm recovery. Its something you have to flash to your phone yourself.
That said, if you aren't up for rooting your phone the alternative is to run the 2.2 ruu from htc. Then again if you're not rooted then you most likely are already on 2.2 due to either when you bought your phone or an htc ota update. If that's the case you most likely already have the radio update. To check just turn off your phone and turn it in by holding volume down button and the power button simultaneously. This takes you to the bootloader screen which displays the radio version. The newer radio ends in 11. You can also get to cm recovery from this screen (if I was wrong about the root thing) by selecting recovery in the menu.
Sent from my cm7 Aria.
all good now i am rooted i have my htc aria cyanogenmod 7.0.3 with drowningchild kernel, with the 47.63.35.21U_7.16.35.11 radio image, i was just having a blonde moment nd forget what cmr stands for which i now know it stands for clockworkmod recovery, but thankyou anyways was just inquiring
issues with wifi
Hello
First of all, sorry my english
I had installed on my Gratia the version of cyanogenmod 7.2 that comes in that thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1430267
concretely 2/10/12 revisiĆ³n
It works perfectly, but there is a little issue with wifi
When i connected to a wifi point and i exit from its range, and enter in other wifi range that i had stored in my wifi connections, phone not connect automatically to that other wifi while phone is locked. but i had to connect it mannually unlocking the phone.
In the original rom, when i was near my home, for example, phone connects automatically to my home wifi
In other hand, when i connected to a wifi and the wifi not detect activity, it disconnect from acces point, although i have put to never the sleep polytics of wifi. This problem is solved partialy because i install an app from market that make a ping every minute to a extern ip, then wifi detects activity and no sleeps.
A friend tell me that there is an update called "baseband" that update the part of android that controls radio connections, and this update can solve this problem.
I search that update in xda forums and find this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153385&highlight=baseband
but when i try to update it with clockworkmod recovery it tells me that the update is in an old version previous to android 1.5. (amend) and abort the process.
I dont know how to solve problem.
Thanks

As recommended I installed the fw upgrade, prior to flashing an ICS rom.
No problems so far.
I decided to do a speedtest on my connection. Seems my download speed was very low. Only about 10% of the speed I should have. (Speeds on wifi are just fine).
First I thought it might be the rom, so I tried another ICS rom (wiped and all). Still no decent speed.
Next step was to try a GB rom. This one also didn't give me the dl speed I should have.
I decided to flash the "older" recommended radio for GB roms. Again tried ICS and GB roms on top of that. Still no decent speed.
Doing this trial and error made me think that the possible "problem" is the newer fw I flashed for ICS. This fw upgrade holds more than just the radio.
To completely rule this out I want to install an older fw version.
I know I can "extract" the PG86IMG.zip from any compatible RUU and install that with the bootloader.
Questions:
1) Is it safe to 'downgrade' and install the firmware that way?
2) Is there any other thing I can do to get my normal dl speed?
I realise that if the software isn't to blame, then it might be hardeware or carrier related.
First I want to rule out the software part.
Thanks for your replies!
I did some more research and tests. It seems my sim card is faulty.
I'm gonna have it replaced asap. That should solve it.
Got my sim replaced. Issue wasn't solved.
It seems my dataplan is somehow causing this.
My provider is now looking into it.
