Hi all,
I'm having trouble. My situation is that my Hero is stuck on the "HERO" screen after I tried to flash the Eugene373's Hero 2.1 Eclair v2.6 ROM. Here's my procedure to flash the phone :
- I performed a Nandroid backup
- then I Flash radio to the 63.18.55.06FU_6.35.07.25 version
- finally I Flash the ROM
Unfortunately, I forgot the wipe's step before flashing the ROM... when I reboot the system, the "HERO" screen stay as long as I keep the phone on. I've connected my phone to my computer and tried many ways to boot in recovery but my computer doesn't recognize my phone (ADB Error: device not found).
After many searches on Internet and some short nights, I tried to power on the phone by pressing "Home" + "End Call" keys and after few seconds keeped them pressed. By doing this, the "White triangle of death" displayed. I pressed one more time "Home" + "End Call". Then I discovered that I can access to the "Android system recovery utility". Three options are available :
- Reboot
- Update from a update.zip on sdcard
- Wipe data
I tried the third one. Nothing new after a reboot... I have done a Nandroid Backup before flashing it. But I can't even boot into a RA's recovery and no Nandroid restore option... Every signed ROM I tried to use to update with this utility lead me to the same message saying that the archive is not signed and the verification process failed.
So finally, the only tool I have access is this recovery utility and nothing with the computer. No logcat, no informations.
If anybody had the same experience or have any clues to find a solution, i really appreciate the help ! ... before giving up on my phone or trying to contact the HTC support...
Thanks guys !

Here is some informations about the hardware :
GSM Hero unlocked bought one month ago
Before flash :
ROM : MoDaCo 3.0
Radio : 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29
Recovery on phone : original (untouched)
SPL : ?? (Never touch, so original one)
After flash :
ROM : Eugene373's Hero 2.1 Eclair v2.6
Radio : 63.18.55.06FU_6.35.07.25 (not sure of the version, it was the one suggested for Eclair v2.6)
Did you flash correct Roms??
weird. why dont u guys even read before flashing? EUgene hast done any rom which is compatible for HTC HERO (EURO). Eugene's rom is for HTC DREAM G1. if you did flash htc hero euro with eugene's 2.1 eclair then u must have done a BLUNDER.
at 1st do a nandroid restore.
then go to hero section of xda. download eclair rom made for hero by behnaam or LOX_Dev and correct radio. then flash with these files and let us know. and please please read which section you are going in. Eugene's roms are all posted in Dream section.
Thanks to give me some light ! I didn't know that Eugene's work only concerns HTC Dream... In fact, I used to check android's ROM news on AndroidSPIN's website and the page where I downloaded this ROM doesn't clearly indicate that's only for G1 phone (http://db.androidspin.com/android_developer_display.asp?developerid=57).
My mistake... But now I can't do really much with my phone. I can't find a way to make a Nandroid restore 'cause I haven't access to a recovery by adb. Is there another way to make a restore ?
{Rom}[32b]Eclair Hero 2.1 By Drizzy w/ Help from Barak & Eugene373
see the "[32b]"? that's the g1 version.

Have you tried using an HTC RUU to set the phone back to a "stock" image?
Regards,
Dave
had the same problem just now
Was solved when i popped the sd card out (while phone was running), then it showed me the language selection menu.
Thanks for the information. I will never forget this blunder.
I tried to use the RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.66 but it leads me to an ERROR[170] : USB CONNECTION ERROR
Yeah, as I am stuck on the "Hero" screen, it doesn't boot properly and the computer doesn't recognize the phone by Usb (otherwise I suppose that I could have used the adb shell to reboot on a recovery img)... I begin to think that I am stuck...
Actually the only way for me to interact with the phone is this "Android system recovery utility" screen that can only accept signed packages (I even trid to use a HTC Generic Shipping ROM because they are official signed Roms). Finally do I need to unweld the ROM and change it ?
Finally ! I have found a solution ! I succeed to make a connection through my computer by usb port with the flashboot mode, reboot on custom recovery and restore a nandroid backup. Here's a explanation of my problem with its solution :
Symptoms :
After flashing a phone with an Custom's ROM intended to another phone, you get stuck on the "Hero" screen after reboot.
You can't
make your phone recognized by the computer by usb
use adb to control your phone
But
the screen is on and it can reboot. It stay stuck on "Hero" screen once you power on the phone
when you power on the phone by pressing "Home" + "End Call" keys together and after few seconds keeping them pressed, a "White triangle" screen displayed. By pressing one more time "Home" + "End Call" keys, you arrive to a "Android system recovery utility" with 3 options (Reboot, update, wipe).
Solution :
You can access to a flashboot mode and use the usb port. Switch off your phone and power it by pressing "Back" + "End Call" keys together. You will access to the flashboot usb mode and then use adb to reboot with a proper recovery img to make a nandroid restore (for example RA-hero-v1.5.1 by Amon_RA).
Hope this could help anybody in the futur !
Thanks for all the answers, that gave me informations and motivations to search more on Internet !
Hi,
I have similar problem ... after I flashed the radio for android 2.1 v1.3 and restarted,my HTC is blocked on the HTC and the box image logo and after 3 seconds it shuts down. The only way to power on the phone and get to that image is to reinsert battery. No other buttons work.
Any idea ?

First off id like to say thanks in advance to any replies and also apologize if this has been posted previously (i searched and could not find anything that was helpful) I lurked around these forums when i had my x1 and im hoping you guys can be as helpful for me as you are for everyone else. anyway onto the issue
I used the superboot method to root my ATT US Streak. My intentions were to update to 2.1 following the steps in the "eclair working on my u.s. unlocked streak!" thread (wont let me put a link since its my first post)
after using fastboot to root the phone will boot up and function fine but recovery and fastboot no longer work. i tried flashing Koush's custom recovery and other things that require fastboot and the terminal just says "sending..." nothing happens no errors or anything, the cmd prompt just sits there and i need to remove the battery to reboot the device.
i then downloaded the Rom Manager apk from the market and flashed the clockwork recovery from there (it said i did anyway). when i load the recovery from boot (volume keys + power and its the stock recovery) and chose option 2 to flash modaco custom rom or even the stock dell rom it just goes to a black screen and i once again need to remove the battery to reboot.
the phone itself is still functioning fine when it boots up and everything works the way it should other than the home, menu, and back button lights flash in random orders, thats just annoying though. again any help is appreciated
so what should i try next?
EDIT: woke up this morning and now the device will not turn on. i tried starting to fastboot and recovery but still nothing. plug it into my pc and i get the "found new hardware wizard" for a Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM.
first real brick? ha that would be my luck
EDIT 2: a kid just ran through my work, grabbed my phone and threw it on the ground. it screwed up the 30 pin connector on the phone and the charger. im going to hurt somebody. phone is booting again though... put sd card back in and still boots fine
SOLVED: Dont know the technical reasons behind it but i had to reinstall the drivers and switch usb ports for every fastboot and recovery procedure
removed SD card and its booting up normally. any thoughts?
I was trying to install custom 2.3.5 ROM to my HTC, because my 3G network is not working, as somebody told me that the 3G will live again if I update the ROM to 2.3.5 sense 3.0.
Then, I have installed the Advanced Ace Hack Kit and proceeded the rooting procedures. Everything looks okey and finally I get into the menu for installing the update.zip from SD card.
The outcome is that the phone stays in the "HTC Welcome Screen" forever...I have tried many things, nothing has changed since.
There is one thing I remembered that I did wrong was that I forgot to pull the battery out after the rooting procedure has completed. May be this is the problem.
Any one can I me how to rescue my HTC Desire HD?
go to your recovery menu and factory reset. You got a bootloop

power off the device, then pull the battery. then put the battery back in and volume down+ power should do the trick
Thanks, I have get there...Very good...But after I press reset to factory setting..it goes to the HTC logo again and stay there..............
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
If you can get in to recovery. Get a Rom on your sd by selecting: mounting sd storage.
And flash it with recovery.
Send from my BinDroid Desire HD with Tapatalk
Download a different rom (or redownload the same rom) with your pc and then move it over to your SD card. Then boot into recovery (The black screen with orange letters) and do a complete factory reset and wipe the cache partition and then go to install .zip from sd and choose the new rom and BOOM! It should be fixed.
If your phone boots into recovery then it's not bricked really. You can always fix it. And just because it doesn't boot the first time doesn't mean you need to redownload the rom either. But seeing as how you tried it twice and it's still stuck on the bootloop then it probably is the rom.
HTC Desire HD brick
I've got the same problem :/ HTC Desire HD brick -.-
DHD Bricked
I have also bricked my dhd and my volume down button seems to have died on me completely...I could cry.
HTC desire HD bicked after RUU install
Was installed RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_225512_signed
Now I can't power on device. When I connected it to the PC after one vibration I see in device manager only " HTC Android phone USB device "
Before RUU install my device appeared by cmd : " adb devices".
Also before RUU install taken logcat.
Ok, So I've recently updated to stock gingerbread 2.3.3 with baseband .35. I rooted my phone with the SuperOneClick method. Root was successful (Finally).
I then wanted to install a custom ROM, so I installed ClockworkMod's ROM manager, flashed the clockwork recovery image and everything. I decided to make a backup image in case I didn't like the new ROM. I then selected the "Backup Current ROM" option, and left my phone to it's own devices. When I got back about 5 minutes later, I find that I have a hard reset on my hands :| To add to that, I don't even have a backup image!
I tried doing that a couple times more, once, I even held the POWER+VOL.DOWN+HOME combo and all. The same thing happened each time. The recovery backdrop and a sliding progress appeared, after about 4 seconds, the progress bar stopped moving, it shifted back to the LG boot logo. If I kept the combo pressed, it would go on and on for about 5 times, if I released it, it would just continue on to the boot and I would get another hard reset every time. I tried "Reboot into Recovery". Same thing. Once, I selected "Install ROM from SD card", with the backup option selected. Somehow or the other, due to the combo or something, I came to a screen that had four options.
1) Reboot
2) Install from SD card:update.zip
3) Wipe data
4) Wipe dalvik cache and cache
I was able to scroll up and down with the volume rocker, but the only other button that worked was the Home button, which toggled between the screen I mentioned above and a screen where all of the text was removed and there was just the recovery background. I finally popped out the battery and booted, and got yet ANOTHER hard reset.
HELP!
It seems Clockworkmod recovery was not flashed correctly. What you see is the stock android recovery. The recovery key mapping is:
volume rocker-up/down
menu (left most button)- select current option
back - go back
the behaviour you see when pressing the home button is normal.
After using Rom manager to install CWM recovery, it is not recommended to do further operations through rom manager, best uninstall it. Instead, boot into recovery using the three button combo and do operations from there.
I would suggest try again to re-flash CWM recovery.

Thanks, but do you have any idea WHY using ROM manager is a bad idea? Just curious.

Well, one reason I've encountered is that while flashing cwm recovery, if the download fails for some reason, Rom mananger has flashed the incorrectly downloaded file without verification resulting in a fastboot semi-brick for many users.
Another reason is related to the way it operates the recovery. I'm not very sure about this point, but I've seen many people having problems with backups and flashing.
Thanks, you were brilliant. I flashed another recovery from ClockworkMod, this time with a WiFi connection, and everything worked great.

Hello all.
I am a first time poster, but a long time stalker of this site. I'd like to start off by saying I am very impressed by this forum. There are a lot of intelligent people and a lot of excellent work being done around here, keep it up!
On to the problem:
To make a long story short, I attempted to flash a custom ROM onto my phone and wound up with a soft brick (I think, the definitions of hard and soft bricks are quite vague all over the internet...).
Phone: Alcatel One Touch Evolve 5020t (TCT Mobile)
Android version: 4.1.2 (Jellybean)
Root access: Yes
Custom recovery: Unsure, but leaning toward no. ROM Manager said I had TWRP and CM installed, but I have never been able to boot into custom recovery mode...
Bootloader: Unsure. I believe it is locked.
OK, Here's what happened: I forgot to wipe my SD card/cache before flashing. Flashed phone, Phone rebooted to the manufacturer screen, then goes dead. Power button turns phone on but phone will not get past the manufacturer splash screen. Tried to boot in recovery mode by pressing vol up + power, the bootloader comes up, but only the options "Reboot System" and "Reboot in Recovery Mode" appear. Selecting either option results in the same thing: Phone dies after manufacturer screen.
Connected via USB:
PC will no longer recognize the device. When phone is powered on and connected, PC makes the sound for a connected device, then makes the sound it makes when you disconnect. It does this multiple times. Powered off it does the same thing. With battery removed, phone will not power on, but displays the charging battery picture.
I have read that formatting my SD card can fix this somehow, but haven't attempted it yet.
I have stock ROM image for the device. I have backups saved on the SD and my PC.
Can anyone help me?

hi could u send me the stock ROM image of the Alcatel One Touch Evolve 5020t ? my email is [email protected]
or u can give me the link of the rom that i can download .
Thanks !!!
i pimped my rom and got a brick
I used an app called Pimp my Rom and tweaked the cpu and kernel. It was a lot faster, however when I rebooted my phone I got a brick. I tried booting recovery and apply update from sd card. it failed with stock and rooted recovery roms. I understand the bootloader must be unlocked prior to this type of flash. Is there any other solution. I am currently without a phone!!

Hello
Yesterday i have recieved the Pepsi (Koobee) P1S. it was full of bloatware so i decided to flash a modded rom. After i realized that this custom rom is only in english and chinese (Im German) i wanted to switch back to the original. But then i made the biggest mistake: I have flashed the false rom (CM for Mt6592 CPU but false Smartphone). After that i have flashed the right original rom again. but a strange Error appears: the Phone boot up normaly and then freeze and reboot by itself..over and over again. But not at the same step. Sometimes it freeze during the Bootanimation..sometimes it boot up completly and i can swipe through the Screens (for about 10 sec). When i push the standby button (Display went off) the Phone stays in this mode and dont freeze.
the i flashed TWRP and try to wipe the phone. Even in TWRP it freeze, but not during the wipes or in the Boot Mode slelect screen.
I Have a friend with the same phone. Is it possible to copy a complete backup (eMMC etc) to my phone? Or someone had a Idea what i can try next? I have flashed different roms (for this phone) so many times, but the error is still there.
Please help me.. It should be a present for my GF birthday today
SOLUTION
I downloaded the flashtool that flashes MTK Devices then searched google for Pepsi p1s needrom and downloaded the original firmware scatter file, turn off the P1S unplug it from USB,...Start the flashtool, and search the firmware will be second search bar select search and browse your computer for the firmware you downloaded from needrom, then you will see it load all the files.....there is a button bar that has an arrow open the arrow and select firmware update, then hit the green go button after you hit the green go button plug in your powered off PEPSI P1S ....it will give you a red bar on the flashtool at bottom first, then it will format your device properly, then install all the necissary files, its real quick about 3 minutes, after a box will pop up on the screen and say OK with a big check mark, at this point you can unplug your phone, power it up and wait about 3 minutes, everything will be normal again. So sorry I would post the links however I forgot my password and username that I was using for many years and forgot my recovery email as well.....so if you google it you can find the stuff, just hope I helped with the proper method of flashing......good luck, let me know how it goes.
Thanks but i know how to flash the firmware with SP Flash Tool. i have flashed the P1S with 3 different roms..but always the same error (freeze and reboot at different points)
Are you using download mode? Or firmware update? The reason I ask is download mode always gave me a bootloop, but when switched to firmware update mode it formats the device correctly and fixes the file structure, try firmware update mode.
Im using "Format All + Download"
Try using firmware update mode, let me know what happens.
same problem...freeze (at different points) ans reboot.
here you can see what happen:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1oFkgUwtOo
try this! P1
power off
then hold power button + volume down
the boot mode will appear
select recovery
it will show you no command
then pres power button first and the press volume up
now you device is on recovery
then select
wipe data/factory reset.

I have noted one thing.
when I update supersu to play store and reboot it goes in bootloop.
so I recommend not to upgrade or even to make unroot just after removing apps with viruses
