I have a new hero that the call quality is pretty poor on, it sounds like a bad speaker, not 100% of the time but off and on it clicks and pops and kind of squeals a little bit.
Do you guys know of anyone that can repair the phone? HTC's website says it has to be done through the carrier and they'll just swap it out with refurb, I'd like to have someone repair it.
there has to be someone that can solder a new speaker in these things

the speaker that u hear calls from on my phone is broken and i was wondering if anyone has a past fun form which the would like to sell me the part is the little board under the ie and msging buttons to get to it you have to take out the lcd.
no one???????
Wonder if anyone could provide some insight with a wee problem.
My HD2 (hidden away in an Otterbox) may have gotten a bit of a splash - nothing major.
However the ear piece speaker (that is to say your normal daily use speaker as opposed to the loud external speaker) is now sounding particularly quiet / "tinny"
I have volume turned up full as always, and without knowing the internal layout of the HD2 at all, It feels like the speaker is only half working (if that makes sense)
Can anyone suggest any potential remedial action?
Many thanks
TFC
try srs wow hd..hope it helps
Did you let your HD2 dry? Also, the speaker may be damaged. Try getting a new one through ebay, it's not that difficult to replace if you follow HTC's leaked disassembly-video.
after a bit of time the issue remedied itself. Count myself as a spot lucky in that respect.
Humblest thanks for advice however - Always apprecaitive of the knowledge that is freely shared on here - thanks again!
Hey everyone
I'm having a problem with my Amaze, the rear speaker (music/ringtone) has a very poor sound quality. the problem seem to have started shortly after I went back to a stock ROM, I hadn't used the phone for a while as I had upgraded to a different phone. I'm just wondering if there is something I can do to try and fix the issue with the speaker?
Thank you for your help
or is it just a hardware issue?

If the speaker is making just a crackling sound that it may be software related, as I've heard people mention that association. If the back speaker and only the back speaker is having really bad sound quality issues it may need to be replaced. It's easy enough to replace and a replacement part is only about $14. Though, make sure you know that it is, in fact the speaker physically before you bother with a replacement. Usually, the Amaze's rear speaker only craps out if the phone is jarred or dropped a lot.

I'm having the same issue, the phone hasn't been abused. I haven't heard of the software related crackling issue, but that sounds like something I could be experiencing. How could I troubleshoot this to determine if it's software or hardware? Thanks!

Turns out it is the front speaker as well, I've tried a few different ROMS, including going back to HTC Stock by running the RUU. Still have the crappy quality. Any other ideas?

Are we talking Gingerbread or ICS roms? I believe the sound quality decreased a little bit when I went from GB to ICS.
Hello guys,
I was wondering if anyone else noticed a difference in loudness between the top and bottom speakers. I first noticed the difference while watching some youtube vids, but thought the youtube app was to blame. But when playing a song over the speakers in mono( to better hear the difference) with poweramp, the bottom speaker is still a bit louder. The phone is still stock 17.1.A.2.55.
This normally wouldn't bother me that much, as I mainly listen to music through in-ears. But combined with rubbish other end call quality and minor gap issues, it makes me think about returning the phone.
I don't think there is a quick fix to this but I'm curious to see if there are more people experiencing this.
You may try rotate your phone 180 degree when playing video so that you know exaclty that both sound channels are intentionally made one to be louder than another or its your phone defect. I can feel the unequal sometimes but when I rotate the phone, I know that the source is unequal, not the phone itself

Hi dude..I had the same.issue..I bought a z2 this Tuesday n found this issue...I took it to the showroom n crosschecked with the demo handset...
I compared the firmwares secretly.. As Indian sellers will tell nethn and everthing that doesn match to b the problem...
The told me to go to service center and get a DOA letter...and come back..upon whch they wud replace it...
If u bot the phone very recently..I advise you to rush n get it replaced..
I read Xperia z2 facing lot of.manufacturing faults...I sorta regret shelling out cash n giving away my z1 for this now...
Its a daily driver and now m helpless..
The service people will keep the phone under observations for 48 hours...
On a Lil blasting they agreed to give DOA by evening..
I tried downgrading it.. Repairing it using pc companion...but nothing works.. So dun waste ur bandwidth on the above
My bottom speaker is louder then the top speaker. Going to return it as i have a few other issues as well.
Hey Bro..I got the DOA for my 3 day old Xperia z2
In India here is how it went..
I spent half a day trying to convince the personnel there that
There is a hardware problem...
They were denying it.. And finally after doing a syrvey qith other customers there in their presence..they gave me a DOA..
Good news I get a new phone from the retailer..
Bad news...
Well at the retailer shop..who had 4 z2 in stock...
Found that the problem persisted in all...
The demohandset ran a initial firmware release
I suspect its sonys firmware 402 kk update that is breaking the stereo functionality...
Currently I rooted it and trying tl work on the issue for a manual fix..
If you look at a teardown of the Xperia Z2, you'll notice that the bottom speaker module is greater than the top speaker module.
This could be the reason

The bottom speaker on the Z2 is indeed slightly louder than the top speaker. This is on all of them, due to the difference in drive units and their physical housings. So, it's a feature rather than a fault.
You can adjust the relative volume of the top and bottom speakers in mixer-paths.xml if you so wish. Sony ought to have done this....!
Personally, if it bothered me, I would buy an M8.
It's pointless returning your unit unless you want to exchange for another phone brand and model.

Do you have to know on which part should I be editing on that file? I see bunch of volume optimization levels and its a long list.
My Top one is louder than the bottom...
Again, on US Sprint
In call volume is very low....even all the way up?
Is this a bug or something I might be missing in a setting somewhere?
I turned on the calling plus feature. It has improved some but is still somewhat weak.
I have the same problem. I can barely hear the other person in a call. I have to jam the speaker into my ear and listen very intently. If I made a lot of voice calls, I would seriously consider giving up on this phone.
Low call volume.
Hey guys there is a simple fix for the low in call volume. Use your drop down menu and you should see something that is called calling plus. Toggle it and BAM volume fixed. It works with WiFi and LTE. Hope this helps guys.
Calling plus is ok but alot of times I have it where people cannot hear me and sometimes they call and it goes straight to voicemail on there end and I answered the phone twice. Sprint sucks.
The earpiece screen on this phone is recessed, unlike most phone which are flush with the glass. As a result, dust, dirt and fuzz from your pockets can collect there. Get a can of compressed air and give a couple short blasts to the side of the earpiece screen. I was surprised at the amount of junk that blew out. It probably won't make a huge improvement, but it certainly should help.
SAME PROBLEM.
I turned OFF voice clarity under calls. Immediate improvement.
Lg V30 Call Volume
Go to settings and then calls and turn of the voice clarity setting and it will be fixed instantly... Weird lg has this option when you cant even use it because you cant hear anyone but this will instantly yake care of your problem...
If turning off clarity fixes this, you will be my hero.
Lg V30 Call Volume
Lol it will fix it. I also noticed that my calls would always try to connect with HD Voice but never would. Now that I have turned off the Voice Clarity option, not only can I actually hear now, but my calls always connect in HD. Still don't understand why they would have the option for voice clarity when you cannot hear anything unless you are in a completely quiet atmosphere. Especially when it also basically disables the HD Voice.. Seems pointless to me! Im just glad I can finally hear now and not have to say huh? Or can you please repeat that about 10 times on every damn phone call! Hope it worked for ya!
This has been my #1 issue with this phone. Calling plus it's great but it doesn't work all the time and without it I can't hear very well at all.
Now that Sprint had decommissioned calling plus I was at a loss and was prematurely shopping for a new phone until I stumbled on this post and the call clarity fix.
Thank you

Also running a needle across the top, scrapes the crud off the earpiece. It's just a piece of protective plastic, with micro holes. As a result, they get clogged super easy. Was amazed at the crap I scraped off, after 1.5yrs of use. I can actually hear people again
Thanks for this idea guys. I was having an issue on an Alcatel Tetra where the calls would go in and out to where you could barely hear the person using the device. I went to call settings and disabled the background noise feature after reading this thread and bam, calls are crystal clear now, no more cutting in and out. So thank you very much for the idea on what the issue was. Stupid all these companies use different names for the same features, lol.
It seems to me that the real issue of the feature is some sort of lag.
