Downloaded mediked wm6.5 for tytnii.
Just getting a splash screen telling me the beta test is concluded.
As a result cannot connect via USB hence update this rom. Read tons of stuff and am none the wiser as to what to do next.
any help appreciated.
Flash a different ROM using the SD Card method.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_SDCardFlashing
Thanks for the reply.
Before I read this I had already done a hard reset which put the system date way back. This fooled the beta build it had not in fact expired so I was able to flash another rom the usb way.
I am suprised that there are roms around that are actually expired betas! This whole process is a biiig learning curve, but very worthwhile.
My phone is unrecognisable now from the original junk the Orange shipped it with.
All thanks to the fantastic info to be found on these forums, viva xda-developers.

Guys, I have just flashed my XDA to ROM 4.00.05 and now the thing wont boot, it just sits and the boot screen.
I cannot connected it back to my PC to downgrade the ROM back to 3.17.
Can anybody please advise me how I can restore the ROM or do I have to tell my boss I have f**ked another XDA up!?!?!
Thanks in advance people.
Mike
Is this an illegitimate upgrade? Did the provider in your country give the green light to go ahead with the upgrade version?. If so, were the instructions followed accordingly?
I don't know, but I've heard and read about lotsa individuals performing uncertified upgrades. All I can say is it really serves them right when things go wrong.
I hope you get yours sorted out soon.
I suggest you redo the upgrade but use the SD card bootloader method this time.

Killinghall, your words seem a bit harsh. Why would it serve someone right when all they've done is download publicly available software off of a publicly accessible media onto hardware they own without financial gain in mind or in general, without harming anybody? We all know the risks when flashing the ROM, but it seems a bit disturbing to have someone actually glad when things go wrong.
Perhaps I misunderstood your post.
killinghall, yes this is a legitamte upgrade, we have over 500 XDA direct from O2 that we were told we can upgrade to 4.00.05 or 4.00.11.
I thought I would use 4.00.05 as my boss has problems with his 4.00.11 locking up and doing crazy things.
I copied the CE+BOOT from another working XDA on 4.00.05 to a SD card using the wallaby bootloader and then inserted the card into my unit and entered bootloader, it found new CE+BOOT and asked would I like to install it. Said yes.
Also have the ROM in a .exe file which is PROGRAMME A (Like the 3.17 upgrade) and that still installs but wont boot.
If I copy the 3.17 CE+BOOT from another XDA and put that on mine it boots fine.
I just cant figure this one out.
Cheers guys,
Mike
Just a thought!
I ran the XDA Developers SIM unlocking program on this unit, but not on any that work?
I am trying now to see if I can SIM Lock my XDA again.
Will keep you updated.

I've been trying to root my HTC Hero for the past 2 days and since I'm COMPLETELY new to all of this, I found no easy method.
After a lot of research, I realized I need to patch my recovery screen so I can load new ROMs (correct me if I'm wrong). I've tried many methods, one where I install Flashrec onto my phone, but that didn't work. I also tried this method I found on android.modaco.com. I can't link outside of this site since I'm new, so I can't show you the method. I can tell you the problems I encountered when trying the two procedures and maybe you can tell me what to do from there.
I also tried the Goldcard method. I think it worked out and my memory card is good to go, but I don't know where to go from there. (Also, how can I test out my memory card to check if it really has the Goldcard?)
Please don't bash me for not knowing anything on this stuff. I'd love to learn about it, but I just don't know where to start.
Help would be very appreciated.
EDIT: Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I searched throughout the entire site and tried to find the most appropriate section for me to put this thread and thought this was the place.

5 reasons not to root your Android
Hello Moekz, I am more or less in your situation, may I ask you a question? are you usually developing? if yes.. you probably will need a root, if not then probably it's better to keep the device as it is. There are few problems with rooting the phone and if the reason is to update to the 2.1...forget it now! At the moment there is not the perfect ROM on Web, we need to wait until HTC comes out with the official ROM. If you decide to root the phone you have to be sure the bluetooth, wifi are ok and the battery life is good...then is tricky and maybe dangerous for your phone if you don't follow step by step and perfectly the tutorial of Unlocker.com and xda suggestion. Anyway there is a video even on youtube: How to root your Hero with one click..watch it and then decide. I would wait 3-4 weeks. Good luck!

Well, that's just it. I don't want to wait 3-4 weeks for the update. It's been a while since HTC released Android 2.1, and we still don't have it for the Hero.
Hello there, I was hoping somebody could help me with this.
So i've been trying to get my Evo Design 4g rooted but I always seem to get in some sort of a problem in the last steps. I first tried Frigid's SuperUserV3(in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343114), but did not get the phone rooted, I even got the colored flashing screen that says "Rooted" but superuser(Downloaded from Google Play) does not find a thing, the root checker says my phone is not rooted, and Titanium Backup says it cannot get access and that I need to root my phone.
Therefore I tried a different approach to the problem, and after some hours of research I found this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1470038
Which says that after all of that I will be able to "root" my Evo design, it pretty much tells you to use the same steps as this other post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239821
(by the way I do not really know what HBoot 1.5 means or what is it's purpose)
So after following the instructions on both of the posts I've done the first steps without problem, my Design already has been unlocked and I have already pushed the Recovery.img and the su.zip into the SD, I also went into fastboot and had the recovery option in there, I selected it and the phone started to restart as in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGlTGu_CBLI&feature=player_embedded
I however did not get anything after the HTC screen with the white background, it just stays there, I've waited for like aprox. 10 mins and it doesn't move or change so I'm guessing something must be wrong.
Now I don't know if all of this is not working because of my phone's version.
It is relatively new I got it a week ago as a replacement for an older one that had some problems with the charge port. Anyways, as soon as the phone was given to me I updated and everything(I did not Think/Know a lot about rooting at this point so I let it all install and it left me with this software version:
Android Version: 2.3.4
HTC Sense Version: 3.0 (I don't know if it has anything to do with rooting or this)
Software Number: 2.12.651.8 710RD
All of this as of may 31 2012
I also found this other post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399351
It does has some stuff on it for after the rooting and 2 links to do so but, they seem to be outdated/dead as the link that takes you to supertool still reads v2, and he has already released v3. The second one seems to take you to a page that doesn't exist anymore so the post just doesn't seem to be able to help me.
I also tried some of the other posts that this page recommended when posting this but none of them seem to have a real answer and take me in some kind of a loophole of the early mentioned options or have no answers about the rooting.
As an ultimate resource I've been pondering about using rEVOked with the settings of the Evo 4g since it seems to be very similar to my phone, or at least something similar to those words. Also tried UnlockRoot at some point in between but didn't work at all either. Don't think it is relevant though since there is not a lot I can do or work with when it comes to a one-click program.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated and I will try my best to continue researching and maybe post any changes or an official way to root this device since it seems as there is none around at least not to this point.
I am new to here and the whole rooting topic but i will try my best to be useful to the community and keep posting useful stuff around here.
Thanks!. Btw your noob video is hilarious.
I'm going to suggest you check out the design 4g / hero s section in the forums of sdx-developers.com & 2fastroms.com (2fast's site is down atm, but most files you need are in his download section for the hero s). There isn't an official sub section for the phone here at xda & its hard to find support. 2fast has a cwm recovery, custom kernels, & roms that works great with the design 4g (I'll pm links as soon as the site is back up). Sdx-developers gears towards more roms & mods. You will find a section for rooting your design at sdx here http://forum.sdx-developers.com/index.php?topic=19080.0 Sorry for not answering your question & just refering you to other sites, but I think you will find you solution & more support from the sites I posted than here at xda.
Thanks, it seems as that actually was the page that the other post was redirecting me to, so I guess I'll have to wait for that; I actually found that the problem might be that the Recovery.img that I'm using does not work on Evo Design/ Hero S phones. I found a different image on a post in here that got extracted from a Foreign forum, I'll try that after class and then see how everything goes. I would still love to get a link to a forum that has an "official" root for it though.
Thanks a lot
This is the correct recovery (clockworkmod) for the design 4g. Just rename it to Ph44IMG & place it on your sd card. Boot to hboot & let the phone find it & select to install. Remove or rename file from you sd card before you try to boot into your os. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24065431/Design_PH44IMG.zip
Is that one for Sprint?
I'm in Indonesia and had tried recovery for Boost one and had GSM problem, no signal at all.
Hey XDA,
I have cherished this site for a long time. I've always appreciated the devs who have produced the content that made these forums legendary and the users who have supported them and people like me. However, I'm back into the foray, and I've lost my mojo.
I use to cook ROMs for WM 5.1, 6.1, etc. In those days, I simply plugged the phone in, went into debugging mode, and flashed from the SD card. I could cook a ROM in the kitchen and have it flashed in less than an hour. But, I've been on the iPhone for the past couple years. I didn't keep up with the switch in the community to Android, and now I'm begging for help.
For the past month, I've been reading posts here and across other forums on how to flash a rom to my phone. I've tried various methods for unlocking the bootloader, rooting, flashing, doing the CWM recovery, etc. But, all I've been able to do is root the phone. I haven't had any luck with the bootloader, and I can't find a CWM that's compatible with my phone.
All I want to do at this point is rollback to V20D from F. I have the USB drivers installed, but didn't have any luck getting the LG support tool installed on 7x64 (though I will devote more time figuring it out if it's essential). I'd like to think this is easier than my confusion is making it seem!
tl;dr Old WM cook who has spent hours researching Android flashing is seeking direction on rolling back to V20D from F on his rooted, but locked bootloader P769.
If someone could point me to a few threads with bonafide guides/solutions, I will buy you a candy bar of your choice.
Thanks in advance. :fingers-crossed:

Hi, I am new here, but have recently gotten into rooting phones etc, but my knowledge base is still Novice at best. I have an AT&T Optimus G that was rooted and had CWM, Free G and Kitkat. Long story short, a co-worker who claimed to know what they were doing has reset my phone, wiped my external sd card and totally factory reset my phone. When I turn it on now ClockworkMod Recovery comes on, but all of my back ups etc have been wiped. I am assuming that it is now just a machine with no info on it. What do I do now? I'm sure that the answer to this will be very involved so if anyone could possibly suggest a thread to read or somewhere to start I would greatly appreciate it. I'm sorry for the inconvenience guys...
The google account that this was linked to is my current one so no issues with reset protection once it gets running or what not. Any info I can provide on my end if need be feel free to let me know. I know one of the specifics to the device was: geefhd???
Here is the current update: Android 4.4.2 KitKat
The details

Since your phone has been wiped, you are going to have to re-install your ROM either via LGNPST, which will return your phone to stock, or you will need to install your favorite custom ROM via adb sideload.
If going back to stock via LGNPST refer to FAQ Number 3 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006946
If installing custom rom via ADB Sideload refer here http://www.droidviews.com/sideload-roms-mods-using-adb-sideload/

I was able to fix the problem late the night of this post, but I REALLY DO APPRECIATE the advice.
I had to reinstall the firmware ultimately. I did learn the commands and process for the sideload, so that was cool, and the program zips did show as downloading from 0-100% and attempted to install, but the 4g part of "this device is geef4g" was an error that I was unable to surmount. I attempted to install the madmack version of TWRP to no avail. I am lucky I figured out the tool ONLY by accidentally stumbling over the advice referencing turning back the clock on the pc.
Moving Forward...
Ok... Had to at least stop in and say thank you for the response and post the conclusion to the handful of people that stopped and looked at the thread and at the least not be one of the members that pops on to fix their device and lurks around until they need help to post again. I wouldn't be back to stock with my Optimus if others did that. I do apologize that I was able to find onsite and unable to do it at the time of the threads origin. I wont re-post links, FlashTool the fix was figuring out the right order to go in with the drivers and eventually flashing the stock AT&T firmware with the LG FlashTool. I kept on getting an error when placing the dll file and the tot in to the Tool and it was total mental error on my part when "organizing" everything beforehand. It did require me to wipe my pc back down to Windows 8.1 simply because this is all new to me and I had files EVERYWHERE from rooting every thing I can get my hands on recently. I'm having fun, but this Optimus is my heart for some reason. Originally I had her rooted with Towelroot (I believe), it could of been the LG one click flash thing that I grabbed from here, and I remember Freegee and KitKat recovery being part of the process, but I attempted to install TWRP (personal preference for me from messing with a Kindle Fire for weeks installing CM) but during reboot always went back to CWM 6.0.2.1 (or similiar). Ultimately CM was the goal on this device but was never possible, for me at least, due to my device being "geef4g" yada yada. I think I have read the fix for this in another post, so I will re study up on all that again if need by, but I wanted to pose this question simply because the "Mystique" of successfully installing CM has passed, and while I love the interface and style of that ROM, I kinda liked AndroidArea51 Rom and another ROM whose name escapes me at the moment that I put on some OLD LG phones that I practiced on in the beginning. So this is my goal. I would love it if one or two of you guys would take the time to look at what I want to accomplish and point me in the right direction as far as the procedure and order I should install these modifications to this device and if you have preferences I would love to hear them. I will look up the threads on how to do everything, so I'm not asking for an easy way out of hitting the search box, but I am WAY behind you guys as far as skill set and knowledge base is concerned and trial and error is not the method I wanted to use on this particular machine. If I need to begin a new thread or if a MOD wants/requires me to rename this thread or move it I understand. Stand by for what my goal is ultimately......
OBJECTIVE
AT&T Optimus Pro G (will HOPEFULLY be accepted by StraightTalk and used on their network or whatnot)
I ran the IMEI through their BYOD tool and it was accepted initially a week or so ago while "rooted", so I am assuming that since it is mine from another network they wont sweat me. HOWEVER, if they are going to send any code or require me to allow them modifications during the activation process that is going to in anyway alter my device down to the castrated ST standard they sell, I will have to weigh finances and options again. I realize that Tethering will be frowned upon, traceable, and grounds for termination in either case, but the subject of Mobile Hotspots is what brought me to you guys here in the first place. It irks me.
In my original "build" of this phone I attempted to dabble in "Over-Clocking" with Kernel Booster and Kernel Auditor. I didn't have a f******* clue what any of that $hiT meant. If the app's pretty much optimized it I did so for SPEED rather than battery. I don't know why, I want this thing to FLY in a noticeable fashion for performance and so that I can whip it out and show my family and friends just what the hell it is that I am accomplishing.
1. Optimize it for speed, but I would like the eventual permanent ROM to be stable PERIOD. Whether I customize the Kernel and then place the ROM, or build the ROM and then mess with the Kernel is a hurdle that I don't understand how to approach really, so when you guys talk about it I just think it sounds cool. I am assuming that "Xposed" is something I should maybe begin studying? Build props through ES File Explorer has peaked my interest as well. Long story short, if CM is what you guys suggest I install, I dont want to Optimize the hell out of the stock only to have all of it be replaced when the custom ROM is flashed. I hope that makes sense.
2. I want to optimize the range on my WIFI and every other manner of device communication without losing security. I have numerous friends that are very generous with their personal accounts that allow me to randomly log in to strangers spots (EX. Xfinity accouts), in order to truly connect to it, I have to sit outside in the yard like a weirdo at 3am with my phone in my backyard, much to the disgust of every dog in the neighborhood. I dont want to be that guy. Honestly, I am really curious in learning how to access the internet and/or any other data networks that are out there with out using these major carriers at all. I feel like there is a lot more out there than the average person is aware of. Maybe they are super low key because they are owned by the upper rich 1% or the military etc etc, but if other networks exist that facilitate the same communications that us peasants pay $100/month to access I want in on it.
3. Optimize the picture, color and clarity of the screen for any and everything being shown on it, optimize the Audio with a good "Music Player"(currently what I use) which I generally heard through head phones and when in the car pushed to that system via FM signal. I currently have over 1000 tracks, discovering a cost efficient way of adding to that Library would be wonderful (ie: spend $0), but I have been out of the music file sharing game for a while so I dont know if this is realistic. Optimizing my camera to take the best shots possible on this phone. I generally shoot nature shots, sunsets, sunrises.... unsuspecting women in doggy, the usual... I will not be loading movies and super large files. I am a NAZI with my storage. If I could expand upon the internal or external factory specs that would be great. In other words, real life applications... I haven't been a gamer for decades so nothing crazy, but this device's beautiful picture is what I fell in love with.
4. A kick ass ROM UI that is eye catching and user friendly... sorry so long winded. Got to go run calls at work now....
