Could and of you XDA Devs help me?
Im looking for a lockscreen for windows mobile (6.1) that is identical to the lockscreen on the HTC Hero
i have a samsung omnia i900 so it's really important that it would work on wqvga devices.
My searching has brought up 'themes' for SPB mobile shell and PointUI et. but what i want is a standalone lock screen which doesnt need any other programs to run
This would be very good as i believe the Hero lock screen is one of the best
(it gives you all the info you need, while leaving you enough space to be able to see your background)
If anyone out there knows of anything like this
reply immediately

S2U2 has a hero theme

Throttle Launcher has the same lock mechanism -slide down to unlock- but not the same sweetness as the Hero lock.
though Throttle Launcher is feature-rich it still comes next to S2U2 (the best there is IMHO).
S2U2 is what im using at the moment and it does the job of locking my phone fine aswell as showing me most of the info that i need but i still think the hero lock screen is much better looking and it allows you to see the wallpaper properly too
do any of you know, is throttlelock as smooth as the hero lock screen when locking/unlocking and does it show notifications for texts, email, missed called etc?
for a good slide down lock screen, google pocketshield
ive tried pocket shield and it is very good, very responsive and i dont think it would be too difficult to make a hero skin if there isnt one already
the only problem with it is that it costs money to get rid of the random countdown thing that reminds you to buy it
im looking for something free
is there anybody here with enough experience to make a program like what i want?
it only has to lock/unlock the screen and buttons and unlock on an incoming call

i was looking for something like that too and i found this http://www.throttlelauncher.com/por...9/catid,8/sobi2Id,558/sobi2Task,sobi2Details/ the problem is that its for qvga screens anyway i installed it and works good u just have to install the throttle lock and then the hero theme works good but i recoment to disable the gremote sensor because if u dont do it the image will move out of the screen (sry if i have fails at writing)

Thanks for this information
i had come accross this in my search before and ive used throttle lock before which does work very well but as you said, this theme is only available in qvga at the moment so i couldnt try it
Unfortunately, i got bored of my omnia and ive now downgraded to a sony ericsson w980i until i can afford to buy a real android handset, preferably something with HTC Sense
So i'd like to thank everyone for their help but i will be closing this thread within the next few days unless anybody wants to carry it on?
Thanks
Throttle Lock is good but unfortunately it is still a little buggy at the moment, the newer versions of s2u2 from v 2.14 onwards are working perfectly plus there is a hero skin for it

Thats right and the configuration is not the best ... little bugy.
S2U2 is a good app ,
so we have to ask the developer if it possible
to make a secure unlock function like this :

A good idea but A_C will have to change the name of the app entirely cause the slide function will be missing in it

if a_c were to redesign his screen locking app to move away from the iPhone style, i'd prefer to see one like the hero or droid. they're both very slick.

I agree with that.
i agree
but a_c could keep the S2U2 name if he just gave you the option of a hero style unlock aswell as the traditional iphone style unlock rather than removing the iphone style unlock altogether.
i suggested this through his website but got no reply

i want to install the home plug in but it EATS memory :s
its 2 mb
HomePlug is slow as hell.
My phone takes like 100 secs to turn on until it is usable. Even the pin asteriks show after something like 5 sec after I press the key, windows folder shows up on something like 30 seconds. My phone become almost unusable.
after testing the home plug;
ITS GREAT
just use that cab of page 4 or 5 of that threat.
but its slow if you don't have a lot of disk memory because it uses //windows
gone try that theme now
Is it possible to use HTC Audio Manager on Prophet with WM5??
New HTC apps tested
Hi guys,
I installed and tested these new goodies. Here is my report (idea)
1) New dial pad skin: looks nice, but not much better than standard. I want to have bigger pictures, and with this skin the pictures are awfully small. So, I uninstlled again, at least I tried and it didn't work. i had to make a hard reset!
2) HTC home plug in: this app has nice features, but there is no option to change the color or to use a transparent color. You cannot have some other app as the top of your today apps, which I don't want. It slows down my S200. So, I uninstlled again.
3) HTC audio manager: not bad, but since you need again more than 1 Mb and it doesn't give me much more than mediaplayer, I uninstalled again.
4) HTC power tray. I unistalled immediately since I didn't see any advantage.
5) HTC comm manager. I kept this one, since I like the skin more than the awful colors of the standard and since 8 buttons is enough until we find a good solution for IP Phone.
Any other opinion is always welcomed!
my $0.02
1. Personally I like the new dialler. For some strange reason you cannot uninstall it when it is in use. However.
NO NEED TO HARD RESET!
...just install a different dialler, then you can uninstall this one.
2.Home plug in ...same sentiments as you...Good - looking but very slow. (like my ex. lol). Got rid of that for now.
3. Audiomanager.Keeping this one on... I like it. Not really anything special but at least a new look and none of that stupid choosing "my library" that you get in WMplayer. It is relatively big, and slow though.
4, 5. Not tried these yet. No need, really...
Working Great on My 818 Pro.

I read though the thread you linked to .. And i saw that someone was able to flash a HTC Touch rom to a Wizard! He said that i had some few bugs like the keyboard and small joypad not working Then i thought.. wouldn't it be more likely that it would fit on the Prophet ? I mean, toch and prophet looks more like each other than wizard and touch does..
BIOTOUCH working kinda
I've instaled the Biotouch from here

and the dailer and Default Theme from here

only thin that I cant get to load is the quickdail
it is kind of slow at the moment, but I'll include it in the extrom for PADViet which will make it a bit faster.
the only real downside of these new apps is the slow bootup of the phone but I don't see that as a big prob..... I'm not gona restar the phone that often

HTC home plugin, recommandations and wishes
I have one recommendation and one wish for future perfect ROM.
My recommendation which is already present in .5 cross ROM but non other ROM havent, is HTC home plugin .in 5 cross ROM can able to show simcard line status instead of operator name. What I mean is I have two line in one simcard and changing my lines by entering its pin codes and It is perfect to see which line are you using is a very wonderful gift that .5 cross ROM have. Regular phone able to show both operator name and the line that you are using. Afte 1.5 year I supprised to see on windows mobile. If possible could you pls inform me how to change it in htc home plug or could you pls apply it for you future ROM.
The other my wish is closing the applications how as in tocuhflo way. Everybody can easily agree that the worst thing is closing applications by targeting X button. If it possibble to apply all applications doing this feature sucf as touchflo way like sliding up your finger to close, I thing that ROM will be the number one that whole WM6 users have the reason to change their ROMs
Thanks four your works and I'm keeping in touch everday waiting for perfect ROM.
clock will be ddd dd/mm/yy
ex: Thu 26/07/07
have fun.

we'll only have one problem with that sliding up to close programs.... what about contact and internet explorer or even the windows folder. if we do that then the scrolling would only work down and close if we try to scroll up again. this would aplay to all apps that have the option to scroll
but it would be cool to hace some movement close programs..
It´s done when it´s done!
What is all this - viral marketing for a still not existing ROM?
I think it´s done when it´s done - no need for the 5th threat without new information!
Let´s simply wait until the TOUCH ROM gets published and stop further spamming this forum. And for all those who get bored waiting, there are more than enough other good ROMs for testing in playing.
Thanx anyway to all persons creating these exciting new Roms for our HTC Prophet.
yeah you're right gullum but any genius movement can be find to close such as one side to oposite site that non of the applications doesnt use and also havent capability in that way as far as I know. My suggestion is sliding up-right to bottom-left for example.
And also one thing should be considered that when you figure out of usage percentage of sliding applications against to sliding to close (ofcourse if avaible), I thing we will hit the usage of sliding to close.
something like mouse gestures in opera/fierfox? great idea
It's so hot ~~~~

Hi all,
WM 6.5.x is really nice to use but as a big lack of task manager.
As I couldn't find anything that works well I gave a shot at WKtask, thinking it wouldn't work... I WAS WRONG !
I already posted this on the Diamond BSB Rom thread, but I thought I'd share it for people with other devices. Hope this helps some people !
WKtask creates somekind of virtual OK button where it used to be on WM older builds. It can be set to various actions (OK/Close, Minimise, Launcher, etc...). That button is skinnable but unfortunatly covers up the last 2 digits of the time... so we make it transparent.
By changing, the position, the skin, Icon style and colors you will be able to adapt it to you're theme. (Use the settings in the posted screenshots to get what I did or play around to adapt it your way)
What do we get after this ?
If you use the same settings than mine, what you'll get is :
- A windows pc style taskbar.
- WM OK button, minimise applications and works simply as defined.
- WKtask invisible virtual OK is set to terminate applications
I haven't tested all the functions but everything seems to work ok, i tested :
- battery Gauge
- launcher
- hiding applications status
- exceptions
- skinning
It seems that WKTask disables the new WM6.5.x top ruban with Battery, network, etc icons... personaly I don't care but for those who do...
Thanks to Waku for a great little tool : WKTask Homepage
Thanks to MiToNiOeS for iPhoneToday : Original thread
My personal iPhoneToday theme : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5095211&postcount=2781

This is such a shame!! i would have loved to try this, but if it disabled the Topbar i cant use the WM Notification Manager as i have removed the HTC Enhanced Notifications!!
Is there anyway to get this to work as it is not really a solution if it breaks something else!
Really nice idea tho, i would love to have a try with it!
Can i ask, what version of total commander are you using in the screenshots? all the versions i have tryed are really hard to use on the HD2!!

I no longer use BSB G Rom, I now use Benko's Ultra Light
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=606064
Some small things are not working fine on BSB'G... and this rom is tiny -50Mo
And, thanx to YOU, I use Sashimi so it really doesn't take long to flash and be up and running...
Anyways, by settings the right offset to half the screen if I press anywhere on the icons the rubbon seems to work (for now)
Another "kind of" workaround would be by using the WKTask launcher to access the functions you normally get with the rubbon.
On other this about Benko's Rom is that it includes a basic but perfectly working task manager and associated to Ameba a long press on the start button brings it up
See screenshot
As from Totalcommander it's 2.52 beta 2 available here

Hello fellow Arc owners.
I have a quick question for you all.
What do you wish your handset could do that it can't?
Something you've always wanted to be able to do with your phone but has never happened, no-one's ever found a way.
Whatever this something is, it has to be possible to do by way of an app - so no super-high-res screens, batteries that last a year on a single charge or anything else hardware related, we're just talking software.
And I'm not talking an updated GingerBreak or something like that. I mean a proper, legit, above board idea.
I'd love to hear any/all sensible ideas, thanks.
NB: I'm not looking to steal anyone's ideas, if you've got a plan for the next killer app then go for it and I wish you all the best.
I'm just trying to find out if there's a niche out there that could be filled...
Im thinking......facial or thumb print unlock screens.....no idea why though.

Thumb print.. won't be feasible on current screens
And facial.. would take too long compared to swiping ?
A snap shot feature would be nice like a system restore. I know there are way to do it in Recovery but it would be nice to have a application within Stock ROM because Recovery is not available within Stock we need to Flash the custom ROM like CM for it.
A better (and free) lock screen could be good ! ..
I used to love how I could use the iPhone/iPod as a touchpad to control the mouse on the computer. Something similar for the arc would be a good idea. Should be graphically pleasing though.
I love to be able to use the camera button unlock the phone directly to the camera app, by long pressing it, so it doesn't happen by mistake. And when you turn off the screen or press the back button it would go back to being locked.

As mentioned, finger prints would require different hardware.
Facial recognition is simply fraught with too many problems to be practical.

Really !! You know how to create a snapshot? Or access it?
Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread Allows Screenshots Without Rooting
Don't know anything more about it though, sorry.
Sorry I think you got me wrong ...! Snapshot i meant a complete image of the system so we can restore it back to previous state. Let's say if something screws up we can restore the image
Right, ok.
I thought you had made two suggestions - screenshots being one and backups being the other.
I could be wrong but I'm not sure that's possible to do unless you're in recovery. I have a feeling that it's only possible to copy certain parts of the OS when it's not running.
As I say, I could be completely wrong but I can't help but feel that there's a reason why recovery is needed to made Nandroid backups.
May be I want to capture video of the activities I do on my device (just like capturing screenshot)...
Though m not sure if its achievable or not!!!
an app which can change anything in the system .. like the default wallpaper settings ..i dont mean the main wallpaper ... change the color .. change the notification bar ... but that easy change anything in the system ... where u can feel easy on making ur own system ... but the problem i dono how to make i hope somebody go on with my idea .... its free for u all ^_^ ... the first who will do this plz let me be the first one who tries it ^_^
thx
I am expecting an application that can show the time and other notification when screen is off. It means that the time can be checked without needing to wake up the screen. W 800 used this technology before. Very useful!

+1 , and the time/notifications have to move up over the screen after each minute (like a screensaver) (like Nokia/Symbian has)

Dear members,
coming freshly to Android and the Xperia S, I've got some questions for which I didn't find an answer, yet, and hope you can somewhat enlighten me.
The phone is LTi26, running 4.0.4, rooted on a reseller contract of Germany's D2/Vodafone.
regarding the Walkman-App, am I just to blind or noobish, or is there really no option to empty the list of currently playing tracks?
at home, I've got EDGE at best and use WiFi, but on the run, I can get 3G/UMTS. Is there a simple toggle/switcher, I can change networks with a single tap, instead of always digging through the menu?
regarding GPS, if it's off and I turn it on, there's always a window popping up, telling me costs may apply, data may be send, etc. Any way to dismiss this window forever?
is it possible to remap the camera button in certain situations? F.e., when the display is off and locked, I'd love to be able to give it a double-tap and have it turn on the camera's flash. Also, if the currently visible and active app isn't the camera app, it would be nice to use this button as a 'back'-button, so I can easily push it with my pinky.
I've read, that AMOLED displays can save power, when they display mostly dark/black colors, IIRC the Xperia S has no AMOLED, but is there a similar possibility? I'm not interested in fancy wallpapers, so it wouldn't hurt me much.
I'm currently happily using the ssLauncher in replacement of Sony's, but in the widget selection, some things don't show up, f.e. the music widget and the 'extras' (on click toggles). Is this a problem of this particular launcher and is there any way to still use them in this launcher?
I've seen a thread with a video, showing how to prick open the phone and be able to exchange the battery, but are there also compatible batteries available which feature a higher capacity?
I've installed the drobear SSHd (no links for noobs), but I'm not able to connect, it always gets a timeout. Not compatibe/config issue(client in question is my Gentoo desktop)?
Other than that, I must say, I'm currently quite pleased with this phone and Android in general. Coming from Maemo, there are still some things I'd like to be able to, but so far it's a good start and so far I'm glad, I didn't opt for the One S or the Droid.
Thanks for your help, regards,
S.D.R

- At walkmand - didn know, i dont like the Walkman app and use Android music player
at home, I've got EDGE at best and use WiFi, but on the run, I can get 3G/UMTS. Is there a simple toggle/switcher, I can change networks with a single tap, instead of always digging through the menu?

on Stocklauncher or the most Relpacements you can ad a Aplicationsshortcut to the launcher... an there are many Apps/Widgets in the market to bring you with one click to the Datasettings... but there is, as far as i know no way to switch with one click from 3g fo 4g - only with to clicks... also for WFI an/of you can set a Aplication to Home - the Homelauncher got a Widget for - it works with one klick . also in the Market it will gives many apps/widgets for,

I like the Walkman for it's rather simplistic look&feel; currently I'm trying n7player and poweramp, but while they work, they are imho quite complicated.

Mh, that's sad. Anybody tested, how much battery is drained when GPS is on, but not in use by any application?

Yeah, I've got NotificationToggle (or something like that) running, which get's the job done, except for GPS.
I need GPS for some things Tasker, if on but inactive GPS doesn't do to much harm, that'll be an option, though imho not perfect.

Someone did some searching on that? I'd think it would be just a case of setting some value somewhere in /sys/ or something.

Thanks. Does that only account for real black (00/00/00, #000) or is it a general fact that say #aaa saves more battery than #bbb?

is this a matter of hiding/making available the widget to other launchers, or a technical problem in that they need some code only provided in Sony's launcher?

Ok. I've searched a little, but couldn't yet find any with more power, only ones with lower, up to 1400mah.

While I'm at it, I'm missing FM transmit functionality, as in I had it with my old phone(N900). As far as I've read, it seems, the chip really only allows receiving in hardware, so not a fully functional module with the transmitting functionality disabled, correct? If that's the case, does someone have experience with fm transmission, as in what pieces of hardware are needed? If it's rather small, I'd love to get on of the bottom pieces, the one with the xperia writing on it, add a 3.5mm jack and the hardware and add it to the top of the phone, but I guess that's wishful thinking?!
