Hi there. I'm trying to map the three central hardware keys of my Leo so that I can use to control the Sense music player. Actually, I already use a third-party software to remap my keys, namely AEBPlus (see my thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=603186) but I can also use manual renamed shortcuts (long_send.lnk etc.).
Anyway, all I need is three little .exe files to perform only the three basic actions: play/pause, next track and previous track. This way, I'll be able to reassign physical keys to control the Sense music player.
Can somebody create such mini-applications?
Thanks.

Hello together,
Does anyone know if and how it is possible to controll allways the volume of your complete phone with the scroll wheel?
For example:
When you are playing music with the media player and the player is running in the background. On your display you have another application running like TomTom. Now, if you want to change the volume of the music, you have to take the media player to you display and than you can change the volume with the scroll wheel.
Is it possible, with a register setting e.g., to controll the volume of the music without taking the media player to the display?
Thanks for help.
Greetings Pudl
I'd like to that too. I'm used to be able to do this with my treo 700wx... I'd like my p4000 to do this....
this wisbar cab in post # 12 will do the trick:

I'd like to remap my volume keys so when i long-press them i can perform and specific function, even when the screen is locked.
I know CM7 had a feature you can map the keys for camera or next/prev track for music app, but what i would like is a Long-press option for screen brightness.
I also understand there are apps like widgetlocker which allow me to adjust from the lockscreen, but this doesn't work if i'm getting a call (with the sun beaming down its hard to see who's calling). Maybe there is an app on the market for rooted devices i'm missing?
I think this would be a cool feature and could have many uses, not just brightness/camera(no need on 3VO)/music.
any dev think its possible or can take a crack at it?
There is this app for iPod Touch called Activator (only when jailbroken) which lets me bind lots of controls to different buttons. For instance, when I hold the volume up key, I can set the device to play the next song. Or when I hold the power key, it toggles rotation on or off.
Now I'm wondering if there is such an app for android, especially to control the music (previous/next song, pause, play, ..) with hardware keys.
Sticking with the stock rom for now. It's really not as bad as I thought since I was able to disable several unwanted apps. One thing I really miss from cm9/aosp roms is the ability to change audio tracks by long-pressing the volume buttons. I would love to see this functionality added to the stock rom. I'd be willing to donate if someone could implement this functionality in a generic way (i.e. not rom version dependent). Maybe it's as simple as editing a key mapping file?

Not quite, and a search for "volume" in the Android Development section brings up this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1770564&highlight=volume
Hi, I am trying to figure out how to remap axis controls(analog stick, etc.) to keyboard commands or, if that is not possible, where I can find an app to do this for me.
I am doing this for Roblox(android version), since the jump button does not work.
Originally, I tried remapping a controller button to the space bar in a key layout file corresponding to my controller.
This works, but unfortunately it also interrupts the axis input so that jumping while moving becomes impossible - rendering it an unworkable solution(the key code disrupts axis input so that all movement stops - you are only able to jump directly up).
Next, I looked for an app to remap the axis controls(since I cannot figure how to do this with the key layout file, and I want to use the analog sticks for movement).
Unfortunately, while I was able to find an app that will let me remap analog stick to directional(WASD) keys, it(inexplicably) does not provide any option for the analog triggers(R1 and R2 buttons) - again, rendering it an incomplete solution.
So, what I am looking for is either instructions on how to remap axis data(analog stick) in the key layout file(or something similarly accessible to the end user), or knowledge of where I can find an app that will allow me to do this kind of comprehensive remapping.
I have spent literally weeks looking through countless apps and none offer a complete solution.
It continues to boggle my mind how such seemingly simple tasks devolve into Herculean labors when dealing with android.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
Bump. Anyone?
