Radio and deleting certain parts of a custom rom - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running Modco 3.0 and installed the newest radio and rebooted theres no sign of it anywhere?? any ideas how i find the radio?
Also i am wondering how do i remove parts of a rom that i do not want.
Yes there is a small guide on this but i dont get how you actually get your phone and pc into the boot and command stage to enter the commands. I can open cmd on my pc and from then on im lost i know i done this before but forget how i managed it.
Anyone any ideas be huge help.

you can find the radio in the phone info section of your settings. there is no app or anything, it is like the "driver" software for your gsm/3g radio, wifi, bluetooth and gps.
to remove apps from your phone which can not be uninstalled you need to set up adb on your pc. it is not that hard actually, try google when lost. anyway be careful, it sounds like you are not really familiar with a command prompt at all. you can render your phone unusable (not bricked, you can repair it be reflashing the rom) when deleting the wrong files, so double-check what you delete, and make a nandroid backup before.

[Q] In desperate need of help!

So I totally jacked up my phone and I don't know what else to do. I have the Galaxy S3 tmobile (sgh-t999). I had rooted it over a year ago and everything was fine until today. I had used Odin and set up the clockworkmod... rom... thing. Of course now I doubt I even did that correctly, maybe I'm just in over my head...anywho...
I was trying to transfer some files from my pc to the phone. (kies air never worked for me) Well, I had plugged in my phone and in windows explorer it showed something along the lines of 'samsung mtp phone' when I opened it up only 2 folders showed... media and data. The data folder looked like the list of files/folders I would see when I'm in the file manager on the phone but everything listed were showing ad unknown file types. No option to open anything up. The media folder was the same but only listed my pictures and music.
Well, i had rebooted phone and computer, reinstalled usb drivers, same result. So I guessed that maybe my rom version was outdated or something. No luck on figuring out how to update, so I had the briliant (sarcasm) idea to try a different rom. Long story short on that mess, the new rom didn't improve anything with help of transferring files from pc. Then I decided maybe factory reset would fix the issue.
Here comes more ignorance on my part, apparently the new mod I put in was removed but the original stayed. Fine whatever. Here's where my phone it jacked up...
First off, I don't have my notification bar (I've checked in every setting menu, no avail)
I am also missing my web browser (tried downloading from play store which leads to next issue)
I cannot download anything from the play store, I click on install and nothing happens, no error message, nothing (I had attempted to download the .apk file for google chrome and move it onto my phone via memory card but when I click on it to install it says 'unable to find application to perform this action')
Now trust me, I have tried clearing cache, clearing data, app permissions, force stop, uninstall updates and I've done a factory reset 5 times. I apologize for the long post, but I just want to give all the info I can and hope to no end that I can get my phone functional again. What else can I do??
wow such a long letter
ok let me think about it
and tell about it soon as possible
Update....
I got the idea to flash the stock rom back onto the phone. After I flashed it and did another factory reset, I have been able to get my phone functional again. Everything is working fine. Even the phone doesn't know it had been rooted. Currently I am getting everything updated while it is still stock, I'll then just root it to get rid of the bloatware... no more tinkering.

[Q] bootloader unlock password- Huawei G630-U00

hello,
I couldn't find any other forum to discuss about this version of Huawei mobile phone. I really need help since the last legitimate EMU update ruined the whole system and now my new mobile phone that I have never had a chance to use it is like a trash device... I hope someone here can help me to recover it since i tried all ways I found on internet.
I bought this mobile from China and bring it to Europe. Since I wanted to remove some chinese default software (that wasn't basic software but really annoying), I used an app and rooted the mobile phone. so I removed some of chinese stuff and installed some of good software. Everything worked fine and I tested skype and I had high resolution picture with 8 Mega pixel camera. I tested all its functionality and it was really good...
I noticed that there is a new legitimate update for this OS, since I still didn't have any sd memory, I couldn't have a backup of this old system and this was a big mistake...
anyway... I let it do the legitimate update for EMU... but immediately after reboot, I noticed that Camera and bluetooth are out of functions... so I first thought the problem is with bluetooth configuration but I was wrong since the internal memory was read only and no longer available.
I formatted the internal memory via computer (the part which was available) but no luck... I bought a sd card and changed the storage from internal to external but this didn't help to function bluetooth and camera...
I had a back up from /system/apps and then removed manually the bluetooth.apk and also its odex file. then restarted the system, clear dev cache and tried to install bluetooth.apk again. but I received error message and couldnt' do that. so again I copied those file back to its location.
So bluetooth turns on now, can send signal but for receiving or sending file, it fails, It can also pairs with other device.. So I thought it should be something related to permissions. I again checked the bluetooth permissioin on /etc/permissions/platform.xml and notice they are ok.
I changed the permission of storage and added the external storage to the list and added group storage_rw.
but this also didn't solve the problem with camera and bluetooth.
several times reset to factory mode didn't solve the problem...
I tried to hack the bootloader but I could not unlock it... I sent all information to [email protected] and asked them to send me bootloader password and provide them with all detail information about the device and accepted that the device is out of warrant but I received no response...
I installed "safe system remover apps" and after having backup of Gallery2.apk, I uninstalled it (it is related to camera and all gallery information)... but with no luck I could install it again...
So, I am really hopeless now since I don't know whatelse I can to do... the system doesn't functioning and I need to load on it the custom ROM but the device only can go to fastboot and cannot load the recovery mode anymore and factory reset from the UI is only reset the mobile to fastboot without doing anything else.
I tried to run the factorymode.sh from the device but I receive error messages to access some files such as bluetooth parameters/power
I couldn't myself find this file on the directory that it looks for.
I would really appreciate it if you can tell me any way that I can unlock the bootloader from the device (because outside of the device I tried different applications but with no luck...)
I have a cutom ROM for G630-U20 (not exact version for this device but almost similar) and if I can have a bootloader password I can try this one or any other customized ROM.
I would appreciate any way that you can show me to solve the problem.... either by changing permissions to solve this problem.
Thank you.

Crash loop due to stuck text-to-speech download

Hello,
I'm trying to get an Alcatel Idol X (One Touch 6040D, no custom roms or modifications) out of a crash loop, but have been unsuccessful so far. The trouble started when the phone wanted to download and install text-to-speech voice data ("Female for English"). At some point this download/install crashes, causing the phone to reboot. When rebooting the phone hangs on the Alcatel screen with white background. I have to power it off then on again. Then it boots and starts the download/installation again, causing it to crash seconds after.
I've tried the following to no avail:
Clear cache partition from recovery menu.
Force stopping "Download Manager" and clearing cache & data. I have to be very quick to do this, otherwise the phone reboots. Unfortunately clicking the clear buttons has no effect. The used disk space stays the same (80.00KB data, 12.00KB cache). The phone will not reboot at this point, but many apps (Google Play, Settings,...) and processes are crashing repeatedly (android.process.acore, android.process.media and com.google.process.gapps). Eventually, so much has stopped working that the phone reboots.
There's a thread, I found almost a month ago on Androidcentral, about this very same problem. But what worked for the thread starter and other people, i.e. the clearing of cache and data of the "Download Manager" doesn't work for me. Probably because the cache/data clearing is not actually executed. So that might be something to look into further. See point two above. My replies in that thread haven't been responded too, unfortunately.
I'm aware that the cleanest solution is probably a factory reset from the recovery menu. However that would mean data loss of photos and app data, that haven't been backed up. My main goal is to get the phone into a state that a recovery/syncing of that data can be done. After, I don't mind doing a factory reset.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Kind regards,
eXistenZ_69
P.S.: post copied from here as per recommendation of XDA Assistant
Hello,
this problem still could not be resolved unfortunately Does anybody have any idea why the "clean cache" doesn't appear to have any effect?
Cheers,
eXistenZ_69
Not too familiar with Alcatel as they aren't popular around where I live... I would think that there's an option to wipe cache in recovery however. If that doesn't help, I would try to quickly toggle airplane mode to stop the download process so you can backup what you need.
Hello es0tericcha0s,
thanks for your reply. The problem seems not to be related to Alcatel specifically. See Google Text-to-Speech Won't Stop Downloading for other brands of Android smartphones that had the same issue. Unfortunately, what helped others, i.e. clearing the cache, does absolutely nothing in my case I also already tried clearing the cache partition in the recovery menu. Disabling wifi is another thing I tried to no avail. The download manager still starts installing or trying to download the voice data and crashes. Any other suggestions?
Cheers,
eXistenZ_69
Are you rooted by any chance? What's going on with the Download Manager shouldn't affect your ability to backup your photos at least when you plug it into a computer. If you aren't rooted, you might look into trying to do an adb backup if your phone supports it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091047&highlight=4+4
No, the phone is not rooted. Never did any modifications of that sort.
I tried connecting to the pc before, but it's not possible to browse the phone content. The crashing services I mentioned in my first post are probably interfering. I will try it again on another pc... Will an adb backup work in that case? Or is it possible to do an adb backup without booting android fully?
Cheers,
eXistenZ_69
So I tried again plugging the phone into a computer. The computer plays the connection sound and shows the phone when clicking on the "Safely disconnect USB device" in the task bar, but unfortunately it's not possible to browse the phone contents using the file explorer :crying: There is a slowly moving progress bar shown in the file explorer location bar and eventually it just stops and nothing happens.
I couldn't try the ADB backup tool in the thread you suggested cause the site is down. It most likely won't work anyway given the fact that the USB connection cannot be established successfully.
*sigh* I'm starting to think I'm out of options. It's just so frustrating to know that the images and contact data are present on the device, but there is no practical way to get to them. I could do a reset to factory settings and hope to recover any images using a tool like Recuva, but that would definitely endanger them.

Only other thing I could think of would be to root and hopefully you could freeze/disable the Download Manager in time before the crash to be able to recover stuff.
Adb still might work even though MTP isn't. Just have to hurry through the settings to enable it. If you don't have adb on your computer search : Minimal ADB and Fastboot here on xda.
Hello es0tericcha0s,
Today I had a major breakthrough. Using ADB I successfully copied over the /sdcard directory contents on the phone. This means all pictures have been recovered!! So happy about that Thank you so much for your help! :highfive: It didn't work right away after installing minimal adb & fastboot though, my phone was not listed when doing "adb devices". I then installed some software from Alcatel called "One Touch Center", which is used for managing phonebook, sms, ringtones, etc... that was not able to connect to the phone either. However I think it installed some driver, because after ADB was able to connect to the phone :good:
I'm currently trying to figure out how to root the phone so I can delete the download manager cache/data. From what I've read by now is that those should be present somewhere under /data/data/ . Those directories require root privileges unfortunately. I tried Kingo Root which lists the phone as supported, but that failed to acquire root.
Would be great to succeed in fixing the crash loop too, so I can sync contacts and other data too.
Thanks again!
Cheers,

HELP FROM DEV, bad virus/rat

(Im new to XDA and initially posted this in the wrong place and do not know how to delete the last one. If admin deletes one because of multi posting, please keep this one up) my phone is infected with a virus that has imbedded itself in my system settings, any anti malware apps used do not detect it. when plugging my phone into my computer (for developer access) it began to install the device driver. once the "device driver" installed it took all administrative use away from me and locked all drives. I do not have ABD access or any computer access at this point. this phone has killed 3 laptops and a desktop. the only way ive been able to partially stop the virus is using a firewall to block it. since my phone is NOT rooted I cannot delete system files containing the virus. I noticed the virus will edit apps and system functions to try and hide itself (Google play services) for example. someone is using a form of remote access to control things and change settings. it is possible that someone (close family or friend) may have gotten their hands on it to install the virus. factory reset does nothing as the virus is stored in system settings. phone cannot be hooked to Pc without severe repercussions. I cannot gain root access through any rooting apps for some reason. only tried to access system settings. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING.

First of all, you should disable autostart on your laptop/PC ( on Windows 10 press [WINDOWS] + "Setup"). There you can config autostart/actions for sd-card, mobile memory and your phone (scroll down on this page). No auto play or sync (fotos/media) for ALL devices is recommend. Don't log in your PC as admin, use a non-admin-account for testing with your phone.
Take a fresh sd card, copy the virustotal scanner on it (take it from the attachment at that post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77053739&postcount=11), switch the sd-card to "read only" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgguVeKWCTw), put it in your phone, install the virustotal app from the sd-card, go online and let it run. So we figure (hopefull) out, which malware it is and where it is located. Write down the findings (name, location, how much scanner find it) and post it here...
Are you shure, that your ADB-SW/Drivers for the PC/Laptop are okay and clean? Plz post additional Infos about your phone...
I think, someone may have taken my phone, rooted it, and installed or is possibly using Samsung KNOX? If this were the case is there a way to break Knox without a PC? I don't want access to anything in it, just to destroy it. If this is part of the problem, just a quick theory and question I will get back to you with more information. Thank you

There are malware in the wild, which can root you phone (like "Dvmap"). In this case you only have one chance about the complete flashing of the device with a clean rom. This type of malware also infects system files, so it cannot be quarantined and removed. At the moment I don't understand why the computers you used for flashing don't work anymore. if the drivers / software are OK (do you have the right versions for windows7/8/10 and e.g. 32/64 Bit) this should not happen? Does this work with other smartphones? Normally the phone is switched off for flashing, so Android is not running. Also autostart should not work then.... that would be completely new behavior.....

Every device this phone plugs into, dies after Bluetooth randomly coming on

My last chance, sd. (Sony serious problem)

Hello, first of all sorry for the English (google translator).
I will start from the beginning of all my problems.
My phone, Sony Xperia m4 aqua e2023, began to have problems with the original rom, so I thought of restoring it with the twrp factory, my phone was rooted and with the bootloader unlocked, without wanting to touch wipe internal storage, the phone was formatted by Complete and started. I thought it was all right but I started having problems like this: I didn't turn on the wifi, bluetooth, I didn't detect sim and the worst of all is that the computer doesn't detect it in any way, try 3 different ones and nothing, (with the flashtool , sony companion, etc).
The only thing I can do is navigate the device, but with problems, because it doesn't open basic things like the File Commander, so I can't run apks or anything.
The only thing I can use and I think it's important is the sd, he reads it, because I can see the photos inside it from my gallery.
Now, what I planned to do was: from my pc download the twrp apk and pass it to the sd, then insert it to my phone and install it, thus allowing me to reformat the phone with a working rom. But there my problem, I have no way to install the apk, because I can not find a way to run it without a file browser, since the phone itself does not have ...
I thought things like: an sd that when you insert it to my phone will auto-install an apk, like a virus, but I don't know if it could ...
Then also try that way to view the files from google but guess that ... does not open google ...
I honestly don't know what to do, if someone deigns to try to help me it would be very helpful. Thank you for reading this!
