Disk space figures - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was installing and uninstalling few games on my Hero (9...6 mb each) and I realized that afer uninstalling games internal disk space counter got mad.
Before uninstalling 9mbs game I had 27mb free and after only 30.
I cannot see any logic in it. I guess I'm missing those 6 megs somewhere.
I was wondering if there is any application that can defrag or scan the internal memory so you can recover missing disk space?
Cheers

clear your dalvik-cache in recovery, then reboot (takes a few minutes). this gives you most free space as possible.

Can you do that if it's not rooted?

Got the same!
I have the same problem like u, and i will like to know if is posible to do this for not rooted phones. What i was try to do to have some space on the internal memory, was everytime when i finish surf on the internet i go in setings, manage application, and i erase all data from browser, so i have some MB free and my phone run much better, but i don't know if is someting good for the phone Regards

low memory issues

hi there
my hero is showing low on memory icon of the top of the screen
how to solve it
please help
By deleting some apps
i uninstalled some apps but is there any other solution so that it doesnt gives low memory error
If you uninstall some apps you will free upp space on the phone. If you want to keep all of your apps you can use something called a2sd (apps to sd). It will allow you to install apps to the sdcard where you have more space. Search for it. There is alot of good guides out there.
One thing tho, I noticed i got the low space warning, so i clerad som cache etc, and got about 5 mb more.
However when i did a full wipe and installed the exact same apps I had about 15 mb more free space. What took so much space?

[Q] Link2SD drving me nuts, fails to re-link on boot, phone going crazy

I was very close to spiking my phone against the wall in frustration over this so I really hope someone can help me.
I have a Sprint Evo 3D, its rooted and S-OFF. I am using the SmoothCriminal ROM which is a highly optimized version of the stock ICS ROM.
Even with the custom rom, I have a mere 800 megs of space, not nearly enough for my usage (Especially since some of my apps are 200-400 megs and can't be moved to the SD card). So I created a 4GB partition on my SDcard and used Link2SD. Everything was working perfectly.... until I needed to reboot.
Despite the fact that I should have around 300-400 mb free on internal. 800 mb free on the link2sd partition, and around 2GB free on the SD card, my phone goes absolutely NUTS when I reboot it. It clearly fails to re-link or re-mount or whatever all the linked apps, and thinks they are all internal. So it basically thinks I have 4GB of apps installed on 800 megs of space, believes it has zero space left, and everything crashes nonstop. Half the time the "desktop" doesn't even load and all I see is a notification bar. I have to uninstall a random internal app just to clear enough "space" so I can boot up Link2SD and frantically try to get SU to not crash so I can re-link everything. This isn't even that functional as a large amount of my apps it thinks are missing as they just appear as com.whatever in the apps list when I do this.
This is a total mess, I can't spend over an hour every time fumbling with an unresponsive device that warns me every 10 seconds that it thinks it is out of space, only to do it again every time it reboots, and now not even all the apps are re-mounting anymore when I do it!
Is there any way I can get Link2SD to not lose all of these mount-settings on boot? Or is there some better alternative? I tried other sd installing apps, but they didn't work.
Please, I am about to smash this damn thing.

[Q] H867g Storage problems and help needed please!!

Hello I have a new Huawei Inspira (H867g) The storage listed on the website i bought it from said it had more storage than the phone says..
So DiskUsage says my apps take up 392mb of space all together. This includes the apps i have downloaded and the factory apps such as calendar, bluetooth services, androidhwext, com.qualcomm.privinit and all kinds of tiny things like that.
And Disk Usage says System data uses 123mb
So I go to Settings in my phone, tap on Storage, and it says
Internal Storage:
Total Space: 2.71gb
Available: 1.76gb, 115mb for applications only.
Why only 115mb for applications while there is 1.76gb available???
Is there ANY way to make that 1.76 available for Applications??
Also, When I get down to about 80mb free space left for apps, it says insufficient space available even when downloading apps as small as 5mbs or so.
It is all quite frustrating and stupid...
If there isn't a way to fix these issues and get much space, is there a way to make the MicroSD card perform as internal storage so I can have more storage and download more apps? I saw a video for that on youtube, for android tablets only (rooted) I believe..
I would appreciate ANY info and advice thank you.

Link2SD working but free space not correct

Hi everyone. Sorry for starting a new post, but I looked and I wasn't sure where my question fit in. I'm using Link2SD on my kids' tablets and overall it works great. I got really fast (SanDisk extreme) micro SD cards for black Friday and the games run faster than with tablet memory. One thing I'm trying to figure out is why, even though I have both tablets set up mostly the same, one of the tablets has a lot less free space showing. I do have about 400-500 MB more of apps on the tablet showing less free space, BUT it is showing 4.0 GB free space vs. 5.8 GB free space on the other tablet. Why would this be (1.8 GB difference) if all else is the same?
Is it something to do with dalvik/cache? Speaking of it, is it safe to wipe the dalvik/cache through TWRP now that I have Link2SD set up with 30+ apps linked? Do I then just relink the dalvik files after rebooting? Or do things get messed up? I'm hesitant to do any of that because I have everything working well now, except the free space issue.
Or, if I multi-select and then choose to relink everything (apk, dex, internal data), could that help? Everything appears to already be linked correctly, so would relinking mess it up? Also, as a side note, I don't have any lib files linked as I have found that in the past it did mess things up for me. It would cause some apps to re-optimize at every boot, I think because the lib files wouldn't relink, even though I enabled it in the Link2SD settings. So now I stay away from that and all else is good, except this free space issue.
Any ideas on a solution? Is there something else taking up free space that's not listed in internal or system memory? Maybe downloaded Google play books? Or are they listed in the app data? Is the free space shown not correct, and it's actually more? I just can't figure it out. Any ideas would be great. Thanks!!!!
Here are the screenshots. You can see 5.76GB vs 4.07GB, but only 6.94GB vs 7.34GB for internal space difference. Why?
