Hi,
Originally back in 2000-2007 I was a Nokia and Blackberry User. Instant Emails I am very much used to, however I decided to take a break from Blackberry and right so as now everyone has one and I find it annoying! LOL!
in 2008 I got a Nokia e71, the email schedule was a crap annoying 15mins, so I decided to see if there is anything out there to speed it up!
I found emoze. This app was a lifesaver, once you got it to work ofcourse.
Now I am on a HD2 with a batter life equivalent to a snail on a motorway, (slow to move but quick to die)
I am in need for a more than 5mins schedule on my emails without the battery dying so quickly. I tried emoze on the HD2 but it does not work, it gets as far trying to add an account which then crashes.
I looked at the gmail push, problem is I have my own doman hosted email accounts I am not a fan of gmail, hotmail etc, as I am working professional and such accounts are frowned upon and not taken seriously.
Sorry for the story I thought i give you a understanding of where i am coming from etc.
Thanks.
Exactly something i am looking for too, and for exactly the same reason mentioned! i got my own domain too, so business mails are strictly on that, and hotmails good only for the "forwards"
Please help guys!
what are u guys talking about , if you need it for business , use exchange , if u're ok with google, use google sync for your gmails. Thats push email for you.
Agree, with above - MS Exchange server works like a charm!!
Emoze works on my HD2.
I've got two accounts configured on it, one is an Outlook Web Access (OWA) and the other is my own domain.
Re-try Emoze and let me know exactly what faults you are having and I'll do my best to help you.

hi there....another app that as good as emoze (even better for me then emoze) is seven .....you should try it bro.
here is the like for it: http://www.seven.com/
thought it is still in beta, but it work great!
mail2web offer an exchange based email service. I've been using it for a year with no problems
yeah.. use seven
best push email for me, been using it since I was still using Eten M600
Hi guys,
Exchange
you make it sound like going out buying a dedicated server, install exchange and setup my emails (4 accounts in total) is a walk in the park.
dont get me wrong i do this stuff for a living, but my business has never had the need for an exchange server. and wont for a long time. so thats not an option.
emoze
i will try it again and see how it goes.
seven
never liked it much, as emoze was easier for me and suited my needs, even got a pro license as well.

Hi there,
im not quite sure if emoze works fine with the HD2, give it a try and tell us
emoze crashes!
Hi no emoze does not work on the HD2.
- it crashes on the part where you need to add the account settings for your pop3 server.
- also you get the Microsoft reporting error screen
- i remember one i could edit the settings but for some reason i get no joy this time.
gonna give seven a try.
seven
Seven also was a waste of time.
Not sure what to do next, gonna pm the guy that said he got emoze to work.
Do you not use Gmail because how the email address looks to clients or for security purposes?
If it's the first one, Gmail offers hosted email services for custom domain names. So you use their service and all the benefits that come with it but it would be [email protected].

Seven works awesome for me. Instant push mail.. I use it with Lotus Notes and its the best push mail connector service I have used. I have tried Emoze and mail2web services but like the seven best.
@mr3rown:
You should try Google's business package where they will host the email service for your domain name.
Most of the ISPs will host your domain email on their exchange servers and its cheap you never have to worry about your own servers and you can have as many emails as possible.
Google Hosted Emails
Right,
i took a look at the google hosted email, and volia, i have updated all my mx records and cnames etc, working fine on my clients, just now need to start setting it up on my HD2.
will post back with results.
Apologies if this is not what you guys are looking for but for push mail, I have 3 accounts on servers supporting imap-idle and I use Flexmail to check mail so I get instant notifications when mails come in and it doesn't poll the server in x-mins thus no battery drain.
I've been using this guy's homebrew solution without any problems. http://www.gudensoft.com/emailscheduler/

does this allow the use of imap idle (push) on outlook mobile?

I run an exchange server out of my house and love it works great
Push required full time data connection. I don't use it because of that. I use 30 minutes poll on imap and love results.
eh Activesync doesnt use that much bandwidth actually. Its very minimal useage as it lets the connection sit idle for most of the time
I'm sure it doesn't. The problem is that the data connection has to remain live.
I poll every 30 minutes, and then 30 sec later, my connection drops.
right its live but its idle so it uses little or no battery anyway and unless you specifically make sure it disconnects the data conn it most likely will remain live as well just idle the same as push would do for you
A hotmail/live.com account is free and will get you push email.... Lots easier than setting up and managing an exchange server at your house.

how dare you suggest i drop gmail for hotmail.
I thought push was supposed to be really easy on the battery, whats all this about constant connections?
I use it and love it. I never have to worry about backing up my contacts. Just flash new ROM and put in IP Addy of server/UsernameW and I'm good to go.
I however do notice a drain on battery if you leave it set to default "as arrives" Set mine to 30 min. as well.
Using hotmail is a good idea, but I have used the same hotmail account for YEARS and that is where I get all my junk spam. Would eat up my data connection and battery if I used that.
Is Blackberry Connect free? I've never tried. Wanna use it for my Work email (which is Groupwise - yes I know). I use PushEffect by Qorefunctions for all my other email accounts?

I am really surprised not that many people use live/hotmail on there ppc. I love google/hate M$ but... When it comes to mobile product M$ beats G.
Live/Hotmail (rare link ! http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/mobile/wl/download-en-us.mspx) is REALLY convenient. With synchronization schedule "as items arrive" I still have 50-70% battery life left at the end of the day (with no2chem's rom). Did not notice much difference compared to manual sync.
Plus, you get contacts synchronization - somewhat less "pushy" - not sure, how often it syncs, but works great too. BTW, make sure to backup you contacts before installing the WLWM! MS is working on improving the live/hotmail, they are now full of AJAX and I'm looking forward for a calendar push.
With gmail trying to sync contacts is major PIA, even using 3-rd party software (and I tried many!).
If you are still unconvinced to try live/hotmail, sign up for SEVEN (http://community.seven.com/main.php) (free!)
it works as an intermediate between various POP/IMAP providers, making them work like push email - not sure how but it works. I was using it for gmail/my server's IMAP but decided to go with hotmail (they had frequent server outages this summer, I've heard they were fixing them...).
In the end, you definitely do not need blackberry or setting up home exchange (with Exchange or Kerio Mail Server) to have real time push email on the PPC!
Using SBS 2008 in the home, with it's POP connector dumping all my wanted pop accounts to my exchange mail box AND PUSh this is the best though as a MVP the SBS was free except the hardware to run it (requires 64 bit /4G's) not a good solution unless your in my line of work - PUSH was the simplist thing to setup and configure ActiveSync btw is on demand and have had no issues with call/battery

I don't think it will be long, they recently added access to calendar, notes & task items thru the outlook connector
Can you create repeating Tasks with alarms? Can you assign categories to Contacts, Appointiments, and Tasks. Can all this information sync correctly and directly with an Exchange server?
Exchange Support
My question too, my boss just got one today, and I have to set it up to sync to our exchange server. Has anyone been able to do this successfully?
Well it depends...
If you need a security certificate there might be a slight problem. You'll need to contact the admin of the exchange server and have him approve the phone. I never got that far with my sysadm - I just got a blank "no"!
So I searched for an alternative and came up with two apps that'll do the job:
-Touchdown - didn't work with my mail, but got the contacts and the calendar.
-RoadSync - works beautifully, but has issues with contacts. It's still beta and free for another month so they might come up with a fix before the full version airs.
Get'em both in Market.
Mobile-Review has an in-depth review of the Hero, and a two-part look at Android (the Hero is the first Android device in Russia).
There's bound to be some answers to what the PIM apps can do and what not.
The text translates pretty good in google translate! Take a look:

I believe that a security certificate will not be a problem for me. I have an account on a hosted exchange service, thru Sherweb, for my personal use.
Outlook 2007
I'd like to ask if it is possible to synchronize directly with Outlook 2007 (cable or bluetooth), thanks and sorry for my english
OK...
So I've got 2.1, got it rooted and until I have the time to get rid of that horrible blue I thought I'd give Timescape another go... First up, big fail on the call log, but maybe they'll sort that with the next update later this year...
Then I had a look at using the standard e-mail so I would have my mail in Timescape. I'd been using the gmail app and moxier (for my exchange account at work). After playing around I've got two questions:
1. I had read that the android e-mail app supports exchange in 2.1 but it won't accept the details from my work server. Has anyone got an exchange account to work with the standard mail app? Or has SE decided we don't need this because we've got Moxier?
2. This may be pretty simple, but I just want to move an e-mail from my inbox to a folder.... is this not possible, or am I an idiot? (these aren't necessarily mutually exclusive )
EDIT: I read up again on this today - the active sync support is in 2.1, but it is up to the manufacturer to implement it due to licensing costs (google doesn't want to be giving microsoft money now, does it ) Which means we're stuck with moxier. All I really wanted was one calendar with everything in it (exchange and google) but the only way I can see of doing that is with a desktop sync, and we don't have desktop access to our exchange server as it is hosted (terminal server or active sync only...)

Hi,
I'm also afraid of using Moxier for Exchange sync and it's normally a "no go" for me.
But I don't have the update in Germany right now so I'll wait....and sell it after updating
I don't know why they (have to) use Moxier, but the integration has not taken place.
No merge of Moxier and X10 calendar! No Moxier widget that can be used instead.
But I think that there are not much people out there who miss the "integrated" Excange sync.
I've played with two other devices and I intend to change.
You can try K9 or ShangMail. Pretty cool apps for push email.
Gunawan, GN Multimedia & X10i
Oh well, thanks anyway guys. I guess I'll just have to keep things as they were...
Hey Guys
Just joined the android bunch when the wife got me a new Xperia X10 for my b'day/anniversary. Its awesome and i'am loving every bit of it especially the personalization part of it.
However coming from the iPhone I have a few queries and would be great if someone could help me with it. Have searched the forums and haven't really got any useful info of it (mind you i could have terrible searching skill, btw did anyone see my keys??)
I have two mail id's like most people. One is my personal gmail id and the other is my corporate mail id. I have configured them both onto my phone and I'am indeed recieving all mails without a glitch. Unfortunately I don't have an option of sorts to configure my office calendar to sync with the native app. The calendar option does not exist for the second mail option(The option to sync my personal gmail calendar exists and is working fine).
However while using the iphone3g previously I was able to simultaneously use both the calendars (gmail & corporate) and an update on either of the two calendars from my desktop would show on the calendar.
Question1
Is it possible to have a similar system on the android as well. The backend for my corporate mail is provided by gmail and so is the calendar and everything in it. Someone suggested elsewhere that i could share the calendar to my personal mail and i could use it that way. Unfortunately it not enabled for me and the only option for sharing lets my personal account to see if I'm free or engaged at any time. This would be of very limited use to me.
Question 2
Whenever i receive a mail with a calendar invite on the corporate id, the mail appears empty with a small attachment. Using the preview option on the mail app displays text based data that pretty much random stuff overlaid on the meeting name etc(i guess this is the program info or something). Is there anyway if and when i receive an invite i would be able to add them to my calendar or refuse it right-away etc..
These two queries are the biggest of my worries as of now on the otherwise enjoyable experience. I'm terrible sorry for the long post but thought I'd give as much info as possible.
Thanks for your time and help!!
Cheers!!
PS: Some background info, Phone: Xperia X10i, Firmware 2.1-Update1(India), unrooted, baseband 2.1.54. If there is any other app that would help me do the same(Paid or Free), it would be awesome.
Hi there,
I use my phone in a similar way, I have 4 accounts in my gmail app. 3 corporate and 1 personal. If I can remember back to 2.1 (eclair) you can only have 1 gmail account in that app. Then you have to use the mail app for up to 5 more (not sure about moxier mail, I never used it).
Basically what your best doing is rooting the phone to get it up to 2.2 (froyo) that way use have much more control over what sync's from each account. I would recommend tripnraver's froyo. He has a new 1.2.0 coming tonight. You do have to put up with some minor bugs, but the benefits far out weigh the negatives.
A lot also depends on what type of email accounts they are. Either way froyo is way better for your needs.
If you don't wish to dabble with your new present, wait a few months when sony bring out 2.3.4 gingerbread!
I have had a few close shaves, while flashing my phone but approx 10 roms later, I'm pretty sure it's hard to brick it. Worst case restore it back using the sony software.
Hope that helps.

Since the Touchwiz update, my two IMAP email accounts refuse to delete emails on the server. The messages appear deleted, but on refresh they reappear.
The pre-touch-wiz email client worked fine.
Anyone else experiencing this? Know of a fix?

Had the same problem with the stock email client on my Charge. Wound up going with K-9 on the phone and stuck with that on the GTab as well; never even thought to try the stock email. Last time I checked for the Charge there wasn't a fix; be interested in finding out if there is one for the GTab.

I tried K-9, and while there are some things it does well, the flaws outweigh the strengths. In addition to my two IMAP accounts, I have an Exchange account from my day job that I need to monitor. K-9 doesn't do exchange well at all. The K-9interface is optimized for small (phone) screens, not tablets. I wanted it to work for me, but it doesn't.
I like the interface on the TW email client. I just can't believe such a basic flaw as not deleting mail on the server got past the developers--and I'm surprised it isn't causing more uproar.
This is really sad. The GTab 10.1 is the first Android tablet with the potential to take on the iPad, but it won't evenpass the giggle test with bugs like this. AAAARGH!

Agreed that k9 isn't the greatest. Also that the issue with the stock client is beyond ridiculous. I looked into Touchdown, but didn't go with it (can't remember why). That one is supposed to have great Exchange support; not sure about IMAP though.

Touchwiz IMAP issue--update
To recap the problem: After the recent TouchWiz update, the native email client no longer deletes IMAP email on the server. Email appears to delete, but on refresh reappears.
I tried Samsung's twitter support yesterday, looking for answers on this problem. I finally received an honest but not terribly helpful response:
"I've tested this on our Tab here and it does that too. Unfortunately there' s no way to change that. I believe it depends on which email client you have."
I reminded her that there's only one email client on the stock GT10.1, the update broke it, and she just confirmed it as a bonifide issue. Response:
"I have reported this to our product specialists. Unfortunately, I don't have any info pertaining to a fix, I apologize."
When I asked if there was anyone I could expedite this with, she suggested I try the Android market and use a different email client. I'd do that cheerfully if there were an email app in the market that's optimized for tablet interface instead of phone screens.
Overall, not a satisfying experience. I understand that the support tweeps can only do so much, but it didn't leave me confident that anything will change in the reasonable future.
<rant>
I hate to say it, but it left me almost wishing I'd bought an iPad. As much as I hate the Apple agenda of controlling the world and thinking on behalf of the mindless drones it controls, at least the (employer-owned) iPhone I have does email reliably and can connect me to my Juniper remote access VPN. At this point, the GT 10.1 can't do either for me.

I had the same problem and removing the application data (Settings->Applications-> go to the gmail app) fixed the problem for me for now.
The app will have to re-sync all the emails after but now it deletes and marks messages as read correctly.

One of the first things I tried. Didn't work for me--but then again, I didn't try it with gmail, only with the two IMAP accounts I use daily.
I finally broke down, rooted the thing, and flashed it with the original release ROM. All working fine. The only thing I lost was some of Samsung's crapware and of course the less-than-impressive TouchWiz interface. Not a huge loss, IMO.
Lesson learned: Beware of manufacturers bearing gifts and upgrades.
