Problem! - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have T-mobile G2 Touch (AKA Hero)
it was working fine until a realized that some of my contacts are not synchronized with google
I found that by default there is contact type : SIM, Phone, Google
But in my case when I create new contact from my phone the contact can be only SIM or Phone type. There is not an option to make it google
When I create new contacts from my google account, they are synced fine.
I can't find why google type is missing
please can anyone can help me with this, it's very annoying
Thanx in advance

first, it would be nice if you could state the nature of your problem in the title of the thread. if everyone having a problem would name his thread only "problem" we'd soon have a problem here...
second, there is no easy way so far to move contacts from the phone to google. afaik the easiest way to do so is create an csv file from your address book, which can then be imported to your google account.

Chances are that when you got your phone originally, you didn't set it up to sync contacts from the HTC wizard that runs on a factory fresh phone.
Your best bet is to try wiping your phone and setting it up again from scratch.
Regards,
Dave

hm, i guess i got the question wrong... sorry.
in this case i'd second dave's tip, problems have been reported when the google account was not set up at first boot.

No Google option on Hero when creating contact

When i create a contact on my Hero there is no option to save as a Google contact, only Phone or SIM and so new contacts entered on the phone don't sync with Google.
I have tried clearing and re-entering Google account settings but no luck
Any suggestions??
please try to use another gmail account (to test the best would be, to use a newly created).. what happens then?
I had that a few months back and after a week of trying to find a fix for it the only solution anyone could come up with was a factory reset.
I did this and it fixed the problem - plus my phone was running a lot smoother and its been fine ever since!!

Several people have reported this issue in the past. It would seem that if you did not choose to sync contacts with Google at initial phone set up, you do not get the Google sync option and trying to set it up after the event doesn't help.
A wipe and fresh set up may help, though I'd advise a nandroid backup if you have a custom recovery image, so that you can restore if it doesn't help.

Dave

That wasnt my issue.... I had the option to start with and created many contacts on my phone - setting them up as a Google contact.
Suddenly after a few weeks of owning the phone, the Google option disappeared, leaving me with Phone or SIM.
A factory reset was the only thing I could find to fix it.
Cheers

Thanks Felikz - that worked.
I created a new googlemail account, deleted the cache in the Google Apps screen, logged in using the new account details then immediatley deleted the cache again and logged in using the original account details and hey presto when i create a contact the Google option is there and no need to wipe the phone!
Thanks again.

Phone contacts to google account?

Hi
I got my hero last week and i'm loving it at the moment. I want to back up all my contacts to my google account to make them easy to manage and for back up reasons. For some reason though when the phone syncs it doesn't load my existing contacts(carried onto my hero by sim from my old diamond) into my google contacts?
If I create a new contact on either phone or pc it updates the other accordingly but i just cant get my existing contacts to my google contacts.
I can see the ones that update are labeled as google contacts so i'm guessing i have to label my exisisting ones somehow???
Someone please help as i dont want to have to create all my contacts again
Thanks in advance
gaz
Anyone?.........Please!!!!
Gaz
I've been looking at this too. One of the groups from my phone has synced to Gmail, but no contacts. Still looking....

Ok, there is a piece of software on the market which moves contacts from "Phone" to "Google". I'm just googleing to see what it is as I can't remember.
Not sure how effective it is, haven't tried it as I've always synced my contacts to google even on WinMo.
Actually, have you tried doing it that way 1st? Set your Diamond to have an ActiveSync with google (m.google.com) and use your google user id and password. This will send all the contacts from your phone to google. Then sync your Hero.
I can't find the program at the minute (10 minutes of looking) but I'm sure its in this Hero forum somewhere about it. Will have another look in a bit

[Q] Google sync problem with contacts

Hello,
i'm facing a problem with my wildfire by syncing the contacts from my phone to the google contacts. i already found different threads regarding that case, but there was no solution yet.
Found out following thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=557075 but unfortunately it doesn't help me.
I'm using the mobile phone since about two month and really guess that it never worked properly. The syncronisation from google to the phone is working fine, but in the reverse way it didn't.
what i've done untill now:
-deleted already all contacts from googlemail and phone simultaneously, after that i imported all conatcts (which i backed up previously) to google again. Afterwards i synced them back to the phone without any problems
-each contact i created new, only on my phone will not be synced to google
-if i'm deleting any contact from google they would be automatically deleted on the phone
-i guess this seems to be a problem with the software, because other cellphone models of htc are having the same problem
i'm still using:
android 2.1 update 1
build number: 1.25.110.1 CL229476
kernel version: 2.6.29-6fb59e13
thank you in advance.
Is there nobody who can help me with that? Am I the only one who's facing that problem???
ive got like between one and 25questions to ask first.... there is one other option... just wipe the thing and let the google do its job. if your on froyo great. just ON COMPUTER fix up your contacts and whatever and save the account ON COMPUTER then wipe that phone. yes youll have to invest a wee bit of time restoring but that comes with the territory. google will restore what it restores.
any sync data u have now....is known to googles pushy servers. they push data rather than pull. which is awesome.
if u really need more help just PM

[Q] Data in Contacts cannot be saved on i9100

Hello All,
My phone is i9100, using KG2 stock Hong Kong rom. When I made some changes in one of the contacts on the phone then saved the changes, it said save had been done. But after the phone handshaked with Gmail (it took about 40 seconds) all changes were revoked, so nothing was changed. I have around 3000 contacts. Is it related to large number of contacts on my phone?
I did a testing, is to disable all data connection so that my phone was isolated from the Internet. I made some changes in one of my contacts on the phone then saved it. Then waited for 2 minutes and then turned on data connection. The changes were revoked.
So I believe it is the matter of synchronization between phone and Gmail. This problem exists on my HTC Incredible S phone. There are so many experts making ROMs, do you have any clue on this?
Thanks!
This should be in Q&A section...
I can't find any in Q&A, can you help? Thanks!
The this should be in Q&A meant you should follow the rules Questions go in Q&A .
Not the answer is in Q&A .
Is it not in Q& A section anyway .

Anyone can help? Thanks
no one can help? pls!

"So I believe it is the matter of synchronization between phone and Gmail." <--- does this sentence in my post give you some hint that my contacts are being synchronized with Google's Gmail? if I chose save to phone only, not google, how can my contacts be sync with Gmail?
Thanks

Firstly I am just trying to render some assistance to someone who needs it.
Secondly, I do not have your phone with me so I was hoping you could confirm that setting as it is the first thing that should be checked.
Thirdly, the moment you turn the phone on for the first time and enter your Gmail credentials, all you contacts are synced, however, the default option in touchwiz (on all the roms I have used) is for that particular setting to be set as "Always ask"
fourthly, sorry for trying to assist in the thread that you created asking for assistance, also sorry for trying to confirm some basic settings before going further, as this has been an issue for others on this forum.
I hope someone is able to help you figure out your problem as the other suggestion that I have is better kept to myself as your attitude was greatly unappreciated
Thank You
PS. If you are having issues syncing contacts to gmail, you should state in the Opening Post that you have confirmed that you contact list is set to sync to gmail.....

no, it is not simply a general issue in sync contacts to gmail. The contacts on my phone were sync from my gmail account. you should take much time to understand the question.
Thanks

Synchronization of contacts from the phone to the google account is not working

I found out that when I create a new contact on the phone Le Max 2 with the option "google" account (not local contact), it does not appear in the gmail.
In the other direction works fine, when I create a new contact in gmail, it appears straight away in my phone contacts.
A calender event was also created from the phone and was successfully synchoronized in the google calendar.
Any ideas how to solve this problem?
Thank you!
Who knows.. Try wipe playstore and Google services data, if doesn't work wipe all data and install a good rom. Bshui2009 is good

Thank you, it is too global))) I have already tried to wipe the google stuff data, then I lost the market and a not solved issue, then, I returned to factory settings and I created a new test contact, it appeared in the google, I was happy, then to make sure I made 2 more contacts and... this problem again( It looks like that it works sometimes(very seldom)
Maybe it doesnt have sdcard permissions, you can check system settings, app permission management, storage.
If not, a full wipe+reinstall is the fast way

It´s easy. change from google to local account, and change again to google account, (in contact adding) and then it works.
i wasted a lot of time wiping the account, wiping the cache... and the solution was that.

So, finally I found someone with the same problem)
Me too, I do not think it is a good idea to wipe everytime you have a bug...
What I noticed in the menu, initially, when I created a new contact there were two options: "google" and "local", but after factory reset, I created the first test contact successfully, but the second/third time I failed to repeat it and in the menu of the new contact now:"all accounts" and "local".
When I create a new contact as a local, then I cannot change it afterwards to "all account/google" because it swiches back after save, similarly when I create it as an all account contact I cannot switch it to local.
I exactly had the problem as you described. I don't remember what I did, but now it's working fine. I remember that i deleted the phone's Google account, and created again. After that, changing from Google to local and to google again worked. After that, no problem again.
Try this way, if not I remember that i looked for contact sync app, and stopped it and wipe data... I did a lot of things, like a monkey, till solution. So, the problem has solution, but....I don t remember the exactly way.
Sorry for my English, but I don't use it so often

Thank you, your English is perfect! As I see you played with the settings. Some of advices are also available on google.com.
I have just deleted my google account, then I wiped Contacts data. What was interesting: the contacts, which did not synchronize with google remained in the contacts as if the system did not recognize them as Contacts data. Then, I logged in with my google account, restored the contact book from gmail, then I created the first contact, it asked me for a default setting for new contacts, I chose "google", so it was successfully created both on the phone and google. Then, I could not repeat this procedure( I created the second one with the option "google" contact and it was not synched with gmail. It means - it only works for the first contact, then something gets broken.
About your solution: do you switch it between local and google everytime you create a new contact? How it works in your case?
update: in my google address book there were no groups. I created two test groups and made the new contacts in these groups and it started to work! The contacts with groups started to appear, then it also started to work for no-group contacts as initially tested by me.
I had groups.
Once I made the change, sync works normally, no need to change between accounts again.
I had 4 google accounts in the phone.
You can made the change in the first contact, and try.
Or may be and issue that needs groups.
I don't know.
The dialer and contacts apps in original ROM from leeco are really pathetic, not bad, worst. And Spanish developers said me that it's impossible to change it in original ROM, because internal links with others parts of system.
I'll wait for a cm ROM with all systems OK, slow motion and ir.
Today I got 19S update)
