Take a look at this: http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2009/10/whats-new-with-gmail-on-iphone-and.html
iPhone and Android users can connect to a new Gmail Mobile web site.... But It seems that Windows Mobile users (even on the huge HD2) still connect to the "old" mobile site. Anyone has an idea how to get the new site?
I think there should be a way, but I'll leave it to the experts
Agree, would be very useful. Did anyone try setting opera to pretend to be Android or iPhone browser? I think opera is capable if rendering that new stuff, but the problem is gears
I've changed the User-Agent header to the iPhone one with the "Modify Headers" Firefox's plugin and accesing the gmail.com page, it shows me the new interface.
It's very nice
I don't know how to change this in IE or Opera or other mobile browser, but I think that will do the trick.
The user agents can be get at mobilemultimedia.be
Just tried on Opera Mobile.
1. On address URL trype "opera:config"
2. On the search box type "agent"
3. On results, under "User Prefs", on "Custom User Agent" enter "Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; nl-nl) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20" (you may send this to you by mail and read your mail on the mobile, so you can copy and paste it)
4. Click on "Save".
5. Access gmail.com again and there is the new interface.
On my Omnia II, tha page does not exactly fit, it goes out a little.

That only takes you to the "old" iphone gmail interface. The "new" gmail interface as shown in the 1st post doesn't work with Opera Mobile (9.5/9.7/10) at all because Opera is too lazy to bother fully implementing HTML 5.0 spec into their mobile browsers.

Hi,
I'm using PDAViet Transformer 1.1, which I just installed last night and it's working wonderfully. However, I have a question regarding Gmail IMAP. I have configured Gmail on my phone with server imap.gmail.com but when I receive a message and open it, it comes out with a blank page. In the real Gmail, this particular message has like 13 replies but it wouldn't show on my phone.
Do I need to install something else here? coz I read somewhere that it needs J2ME, which I dun think it's included with Transformer 1.1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thx
It turns out that I'm not the only person who's having this problem... I guess it's not 100% implemented yet or still buggy...

You're actually referring to two different methods to get Gmail. Your first paragraph mentions setting up Gmail manually using IMAP settings. Your second paragraph refers to J2ME, which is required to run the Gmail java client that actually resides on your device.
You first need to be sure to "enable" IMAP by logging into your Gmail account from your desktop browser. Here is some more info on how to do that. Here is some general information on Gmail and IMAP settings.
*edit* I checked out the link you posted and did some more searching regarding that Gmail issue. It appears that most if not all WM users have that problem. They can see the email body when it's sent as text, but not if it's sent as HTML. One possible solution that I haven't seen anyone discuss is trying the java client rather than setting it up manually. You may just want to give that a try and see if that resolves the problem. They also have these setup instructions specifically for WM6.
Mines working fine...
In Outlook, set up a new account, enter user name, uncheck the box. Follow the instructions, and enter imap.gmail.com:993 and IMAP4 as the type,
smtp.gmail.com form the smtp sending. Both connections require SSL.
edit: Just realised I wrote exactly what the link above says...
Or just stick with the Java App, like i do. Works perfectly fine...
Will GMail ever work properly!
I made the mistake of moving my domain to googles hosted service.
All well and good but if you use WM, you are buggered.
The Java app doesnt work for this service ( called google apps or Gafyd )
You can use a dedicated app only on a Blackberry!
and finally get a decent way with IMAP and and and . of fik it. whats the use .
I will wait for things to improve!
Bhayani
I got it
I got it to work using the exact instructions for WM6

I put the bold around the item that I missed before when I configured it the first time. I don't know if this was the result of the change. But I can see the body of my messages now, so I'm happy with it.
I have a HTC Apache 6700 with windows mobile 6 running on it (thanks HEmi)

I dun understand what you mean by put the bold around the item? how do you do that? care to share?
It's either you solved the problem or Gmail just recently improved their IMAP service. I haven't tried again...

Try Funambol. It's open source and configurable... let me see... yes, here: https://www.forge.funambol.org/
Thanks Drnoir,
I have look at this product. It is very nice but the only thing that I don't like is that it Sync all your phone contact, and schedule information to the Funambol server. I was looking for a client which will sync with my office instead.
If you tell me what office service you're using, I might be able to help. Let me know what the specific platforms are and what you need to do to be more precise.
Also, bear in mind that it will also work with any service using SyncML services, not just Funambol.
That said, if it's MS Office you're trying to sync, there is also an Outlook Funambol plugin that will let you pull down the data from the Funambol server. Thus, the server is just the bridge to your data sync needs.
Hi drnoir,
It's for a an email system called firstclass by open text http://www.firstclass.com/ .
I know, not many people used it but our organization is using it.

OK, I did some searching (all hail Google!) and found this article:
http://www.firstclass-groupware.de/FirstClass Extras/S00496427-00496428
with the following instructions:
Basic SyncML device setup
To transfer data from your device or application to your FirstClass account, make sure that the field names you enter match the names on FirstClass. To begin your device setup:
1 Open the SyncML client or menu on your device (refer to your product documentation).
2 Open the settings or profile item (different vendors use different terms for this).
3 Enter the Server URL/address of the FirstClass synchronization server as provided by your system administrator.
It will look something like:
http://<IP address of FirstClass Internet Services server>/cgi-bin/sync
4 Enter your FirstClass user ID and password in the appropriate fields.
5 Select the data types you want to synchronize.
You must set the folder/database names as follows:
Data Type Enter
for contacts contacts
for calendar events calendar
for tasks (to-do items) tasks

Please note that both the account, the server and the desktop client need to be configured too. Instructions are further down the line on the original document.
Does anyone know how to stop the lapdock showing the mobile site of facebook rather than the normal one every time i enter wwwdotfacebbokdotcom it loads with m.facebook.com?
create a shortcut in the dock.
no, just tried that sill reverts back to the "m" site ?
are you using the lapdock's firebox browser? or are you using the phone's browser while in lapdock's?
Its when using the firefox lapdock browser or the lapdocks facebook shortcut
Have you tried Dolphin Browser HD? In the initial setup, you can choose what kind of device you'd like the browser to tell the website you're using. Like say for instance, android phone, desktop, ipone, or ipad.
I tried accessing the facebook site from my lapdock's browser and it sent me to the non-mobile site. I don't know what could be going on with yours.
sorry. :\
Potential Fix for this issue
The problem everybody is experiencing develops when the initial request is sent to the Facebook server and the "user agent" string is sent. By default, the user agent string is set to Android, but can be set to Chrome Desktop to allow a full website experience. Some website's written or optimized for a specific browser may still disregard this setting, but Facebook does not, and will display the full site ... I have the laptop dock and this works.
In the firefox browser, go to the add-ins page and search "user agent". Install one of them and select "firefox 4" from the new menu. Reload the page and it should show the full version instead of the mobile version of the page.
You need to use a user agent spoof add-in to tell the facebook server that you are a full web browser and not a mobile web browser.
I have tried the top 3 user agent programs and connot find the firefox 4 option.
You say you have to spoof the web page, when I first used it it worked fine, and other users all say theirs work fine too without messing with the settings.
I have also done a hard reset on the phone so its not that, it must be somthing in the lapdock, -
question can the lapdock be reset in any way, I know it has nothing inside as such but pehaps there is somthing in there?
Install the add-on called "User Agent RG 1.0" and then under Tools -> User Agent, select "Firefox 4". You have to make this selection every time you open the firefox browser in the webtop as the setting is not preserved.
I think this is phone browser problem .
Since shortcuts for web pages made on PC cannot be used to launch the browser on Android and open those web page links, is there an app which would allow you to browse files on your Android and then directly open url web page link shortcuts?
I use Opera on my PC, and Opera Mobile on the phone and have linked both using Opera Link. It syncs my history, bookmarks and passwords etc. between both devices. So if I want to open a url i found on pc, I bookmark it and its there on my phone too...
I see what you're saying - on a Windows PC internet shortcuts have a .url extension and when you click on them it opens whatever url is in that shortcut.
I don't think there is an equivalent on Android. I use bettercut which allows me to put shortcuts to browser bookmarks on a home screen or folder - I click on the shortcut and it opens that web page in browser. The website must be bookmarked in your browser however.
I tried putting URLs in a text file - clicking on the text file opens notepad and you click on the url which then opens the website. There's no direct way of clicking on an internet shortcut in a folder on Android though without using the afore mentioned methods. Maybe someone will code an app.
Yeah, if someone ever reads this in the future, pleas post if you came across anything that would allow us to browse through folders and click on url shortcuts created on PC and have them open a web page in any browser.
This has nothing to do with synchronization or previously used links.
This is about random never before seen url shortcuts that you come across inside folders which were originally created on PC and you simply want to open the web page shortcuts inside those folders *directly*.

Check this out, guys: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zapek.android.stuntzurl
Good luck!
u might use chrome to phone if youre using chrome on youre pc
if u are on android 4 download chrome browser from the market it owns a very simple sincronizing function
Although you are a correct, that was not the original question.
Thank you handfish for the link! stuntzurl application allows you to open URL links in a folder on your Android phone with a simple click.
oooh stuntzurl does not work after updating to Android 4.4 KitKat.
If anyone comes across an app that does, please post!
"Toggelis Url Opener" does what you want and it works with Android K, L, M and N.
I bought a new 310XBA chromebook, recently, from Walmart and am having difficulty logging into my website to transfer files via FTP. It neither works through the chrome browser, nor through sFTP client. The sFTP client proceeds nicely with the host name and the username, but when it gets to the password, it fails. On the chrome browser, I don't get the luxury of knowing how it fails.
Up until now, I've had no problem logging in via WinSCP, or through Mozilla browser, on my Windows XP laptop. Nor have I had any difficulty logging in via FTP Client Pro (from Less is More Development from the iPhone App Store) on my iPhone. And these three methods remain in working order allowing me to login and transfer files.
But due to this new wrinkle, I've recently learned that my iPhone's Safari browser can't log in as well (something I didn't know before now since I have never tried to use my iPhone's SilverLight browser until now...).
I've called customer support at GoDaddy and we both agree that there is nothing wrong at their end and has more to do with chromebook and iPhone's browser than anything else.
The mystery is...how, or what, is wrong? And what to do about it...
I've tried putting "ftp." out in front of my domain name, but I usually don't need to. Either way doesn't change anything.
