Hi guys,
I've used a few roms including TAEL, ENERGY and I am now looking for a rom that is best for battery life.
I'll be travelling in Japan and I don't want to charge it every day.
Hopefully there is a stripped down rom with just the basics available.
If anybody has some suggestions that would be great.
Thanks
I don't think that wether a stripped rom or not makes a difference on battery life, the radio/rilphone combo depending on rom and network, will make the most difference, 'cause you can have a naked rom and still have more drainage of the battery if you don't close apps when you're done with them.
I'm using Energy Phoenix2 and I get about 2 days of usage on it. I would suggest to get ArkSwitch or something similar to monitor your apps and close them as needed .
Best battery life
According my experience best in battery life ROM was from Monx - I have used several others as TAEL, Energy, Capitain's...
I've had the best luck with NATF's roms both on the 6.1 & 6.5 builds. main thing is to remember to cycle the battery once you install a new rom (let the battery die out, then charge it while off over night) I've seen on ebay you can purchase extra batteries and a battery charger for under $30 that may be worth looking into.
Have fun in Japan

hello,
i have some problems with my battery life!! i have just bought the raphael.
i just want to know what helps to improve battry life.
-different rom
-different radio
what do you recomend!!!
thanks
U should prob READ the tread.....
However the battery life is affected by the RADIO..
Also make sure that ur internet connection is not on ALL the time
some applications are making the battery draining also. s2u2 is considered as battery sucker cos' of some yet not known bug. some other apps using G and light sensors. cooked roms can drain battery as well.
so it depends on many issues. you just have to flash and test then flash and test and then again. Finally you find the solution which suits you best.
We're all looking for it. Trying to make our Raphs perfect.
I have the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II phone, and it is absolutely brilliant. Speeds are excellent - no lag. Screen is absolutely AMAZING. Camera is the best I've ever touched.
BUT, the thing that bugs me is the battery life. One of the selling points of the Galaxy S II to me was the "Amazing Battery Life" which has been praised. I have only owned this phone for two days (charged only one and a half times), but I have not seen this "excellent" battery life AT ALL.
Any tips or suggestions? I have read that the battery in this device "improves" after some time (a few charge cycles). Is this true?
Thank you
hey congratulations on your new samsung. I got mine when it first came out and had the same problems with batteries. My best suggestion is to familiarize yourself with custom roms and learn everything you need to know about flashing and rooting, and when you're ready look into installing a custom rom. Cognition v1.5.1 is a really good choice because of the fact that it removes a lot of the bloatware that automatically runs when you turn the phone on (which drains the battery quite a bit). Also some other ways of dealing with the battery life is to reduce the brightness as much as you can handle (the highest setting of brightness on any phone is never a good idea for battery life).
if you search around these forums you will probably find better help from people who know more about this stuff than me. However, as someone who went from never touching android in my life to learning it all with this phone I can say your best bet is to learn how to flash and mess around with the firmware. That coupled with basic battery tips will help a lot.
also one final thought. If you download battery calibrator from the market, charge your phone to 100% then take the plug out and run it, let it drain down to 0% then start the charge over that is the quickest way to fix the battery issues. (this would only need to be done once, or every time you flash a new firmware if you choose to pursue that).
hope I helped!
It's that time of the year again that I feel that I need to do something with my Vibrant or I'll feel bored with my fun, so I want to know what the best ROM is in terms of performance and most importantly battery. Battery is everything to me as I'm out of the house or near a port for the whole day, everyday. I was leaning towards the CM7 ROM, but I heard that mod outputs poor battery life.
Any ROMs?
With CM7, you'll get about 13-14 hours of battery life.
Hm.. what ROM are you running now?
I use MIUI Lithium and i've been getting around 25-30 hours of battery life with medium usage. This rom has been super super super stable for me and GPS works too.
Which of the ROMs available in the development area will provide me with the greatest battery life? (without loss of important features or anything)

I personally prefer Nottachtrix, it's fast as hell and awsome battery life

You could take a look at the Neutrino ROM. It is missing features, though there are plenty of add-ons that you could easily download to suit your needs. Other than that it's extremely compact and snappy, and (so I've heard) the black and white theme actually helps out battery life tremendously.

This is for my girlfriend's phone. I can't test these out realtime, but I put the light Neutrino on it and it didn't last a whole day. Got Aqua on there and the battery life on there doesn't seem to be exquisite either.
Gonna try out Nottachtrix when I get the chance.
ROMS generally take a few days to show their full battery potential. In other words, when you install a new ROM you should charge it to 100% (before installing), delete the battery stats, and discharge all the way through until it turns off. Charge it all the way to 100% and discharge to 0% for a few cycles and you'll begin to see more accurate battery performance. Installing a ROM for one day and then installing another the next isn't going to tell you anything about true battery performance. It needs a little bit of time, just like it took a few cycles when she first got her phone for the battery to last its full amount.
Neutrino and CM7 should generally be lasting a whole day, if not 2 days. I am on a CM9 based ROM and even my battery lasts from 6 in the morning to 12 at night. As I've stated, it takes a bit of time for the battery to shine.
I get pretty decent battery life out of The Darkside Prefinal. From 6am-10pm with about an hour or so charging inbetween I usually have about 40% or so left. Neutrino ROM has been pretty good to me too. About 35%-30% left in the same time frame mentioned earlier
Hey guys,
I am looking to buy an extended battery for my atrix cause it can't last one day. What is the best extended battery? I want one that is reliable and lasts a long time, physical size doesn't matter.
Thx in advance guys
P.s. the atrix community is the best!!!
There are lots of things you can do to improve battery life.
You can set up voltage profiles and run battery calibrations. You could also flash a custom ROM that has good battery performance. I recommend Neutrino EE

i and a friends in other forum give some configs for the battery extend life, we like to use tasker and setCPU to configures some tasks for toggle 2G and kill some apps and set CPU for underclock when smartphone turn off screen .... i won 2 days and some 10 hours for example with this configuration and with radio european and rom morrisoft v0.9
The biggest drain on your battery is Screen On time. I recommend you tweak your levels and see if it betters your battery life before you spend your hard earned money.

ok, I understand there are things I can do to make my battery last longer (I have tried a lot of the tips you guys have posted). I want to spend my money on a bigger battery and I wanted advice one which extended battery is the best, not how to make my current battery last longer.
Please keep the posts relevant to what I am asking for
sorry, going to have to jump on the improved battery life bandwagon.
if you're willing to post your battery usage graph that shows wifi/gps/awake/screen on/charging, we could make some informed recommendations...

I don't know how to do that. If you explain to me how to do that I will, but I still want advice on what extended battery is the best and if there are cases that will fit with it in.
I am still waiting on some advice.
