Oh man,
It's coming in the fall while we don't even have 4.0 ICS available yet
http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9224652/Google_exec_hints_of_Android_5.0_release_this_fall_?taxonomyId=15
I'm "in love" with AT&T
You're probably right, but it seems Rezound users aren't anxious to get 4.0, if you read through this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1519312
I want ISC cause i've heard that optimizes to run faster on the devices (own a Xoom ISC). And my Note much slower and lagging than my ATT SG2.
The premise of the group was that phone manufacturers and wireless carriers would provide timely upgrades of devices during their first 18 months on the market.
That being said, following ATT upgrade timeline, we should see it by next Christmas if indeed it is released by fall.
I'm starting to think that if you want a specific flavor of Android, you better buy it with the flavor you want. Once they have you hooked they don't seem too interested in upgrading the OS. That goes for all devices, not just the Note. Just another reason to hate AT&T.

I heard ya. ICS is not really my flavor. I just hope the Note will be smoother with ICS. If the Note as fast as my Gingerbread ATT S2 then i have no complain at all. Seriously, I use ICS 4.03 in my Xoom and didn't really see any huge improvement that i need to die for.

If 5.0 is released in the fall, I have a hard time believing any carrier branded device out at the moment will have it by Christmas.

I said NEXT christmas....read the article quote---the "team" has to get updates out within 18 months of release...so NEXT Christmas....If I meant Christmas 2012, then I would have just said "christmas"...."Next Christmas" means the next one coming not this one.
Most people don't even have ICS yet (nor will probably get it by THIS fall). I'm sure this is going to come to devices further down the road than we expect.

Yep. It's odd to see people buy devices with some anticipation of an upgrade later rather than to use the device as is out of the box. True, manufacturers and carriers *should* provide updates, but as a consumer you should be sure that you're satisfied with what you're buying when you buy it.

[UPDATE: A Verizon spokesman told Wireless and Mobile News that an update for the Rezound will not be rolling out over the holiday weekend; he could not confirm a date when the device would get ICS.]
don't really care anymore. given up on VZ after the 6th.
i feel you, they lost alot of customers on this one. its not that hard to push out a update that is already done.

Do you really believe they would have released an update while the Rezound has been on sale from last week through today. The release of ICS would not have been done until the sale is over. Otherwise you would have had units being sent out without ICS from the early part of the sale and then sent some out at the end of the sale with ICS. It would have complicated everything, now the sale is over they can address thier attention to releasing ICS. Well at least I hope.
I don't think that Verizon promised this update on 4/6/2012. Wasn't this a Best Buy bogus post for both the Razr getting ICS on 4/4 and the Rezpund 4/6, neither of whaich was true. I have not read anywhere that Verizon published this release date for ICS for the Rezound.
It wasn't confirmed by anybody but a BB poster which had no evidence behind it anyway.

Seeing as how the weekend is already over, i could've told you the same thing. This just in.... The ICS update will be rolling out sometime after right now (For all phones that don't already have it, but are slated to get it). But i can't tell you when.

Doubt this. Majority of VZW customers don't even know wtf ICS is, yet alone what they run on their phone.

all speculation and rumors at this point. im telling you guys, i don't expect it until at least summer.
I honestly don't care anymore. I have fully working ICS on my Rezound. If they never officially released it, I wouldn't care much since I already have it. What would be nice however, is if they dropped the source code on us for the leaks that are already floating around.
I still don't understand the outrage that some people have over it. I mean, the people that care about it are here or on other sites that have info about rooting and development - so if you want ICS - go get it. The rest of the people - they probably don't care because they just want their device to work, and it does out of the box untouched. It works pretty darn well too.

I even picked one up on this sale and I still do not have 4G out her on Long Island. Hardware it is fine, Dev support is better than the prior units I am switching from, so It can only be better on our end.

Shame it's a good phone... I was going to pick up a Nexus til I started seeing the issues they were having. Couldn't be happier with my choice to get a Rezound instead.
this is so far my fav phone period but i honestly doubt vzw will ever bother pushing ics onto this thing. if they do though, it'll be in the distant future when ics becomes standard on most devices.
Why care about a bloated up release from VZW that has an older version of Sense? When there are several awesome Sense 4.0 roms that run smooth as butter available for us to flash. Get with the times brotha.
Has there been any official word on a release date? It seems like it's taking forever to be realised.

And where is the Premium Suite?
I really want to know the logic behind people complaining about not knowing the ICS release date. Are you really that impatient and is ICS that important to you? If so, why not use the leaked ICS or buy Galaxy Nexus? ICS will be out when it's out, stop asking everyone who are in the same boat like a child saying "Are we there yet?" every 5 minutes. It seems like there are too many of these threads and CM rules should be applied throughout the whole forum.
The ICS ROMs for our device are more than stable enough to be your daily driver---if they include an AOSP app kit.
As long as you use the AOSP apps and another launcher, its unlikely you'll take a stability hit vs GB roms .
There has supposedly been speak of another upcoming leak, but the leaker is allegedly asking to be paid for it, and is requiring a "certain level" of "donations" "for more love".
The original ROMs based on the '5 leak were crude and unstable, but that's almost entirely not the case anymore.
So, in short...the leaked ROMs aren't missing much, and if you can't wait, the leak-based ROMs will tide you over.
Personally, I'm in NO hurry. GB 2.3.6 is rock STABLE. The only time my note gets switched off is to fool with the SD card. I run weeks at a time w/o rebooting.
You know it is possible, that the first few "official" releases will have a glitch or two. Beta test ICS if you want, but I'll wait a few weeks after it is official.
This bleeding edge stuff is for you people that like to tinker.

Samsung said Q2 in its official announcement postponing from Q1. That means any time up to the end of June. Therefore, until July 1, there is no point in asking. If we get it earlier, great, but no expectations.

If you're referring to DesignGears, the donations were for him to obtain a Note to develop on, and not for the ROM. He delayed releasing a link until his source gave the go-ahead.
Yes, for a couple reasons. I prefer non carrier branded phones, since, most of the time, carriers will cripple features intended on the device, to force you to use their service. Also, I have been off contract for about a year, and don't want to give up my unlimited everything rate I still enjoy...at least until at&t takes it away eventually. When that happens, I'm heading to straight talk.

I believe he was waiting on "approval" from his source to release the leak.
As far as donations, that was to go towards a purchase of a Note so he can develop a custom ROM. He never got the full amount so he paid the rest out of his own pocket to buy one and he is waiting until the official release to start developing.

So, I'm sure it's not only me wondering this... Are we getting this thing ever?
most likely, lots of "feature updates" and motorola is 'part of' google now. gotta think they will support their flagship phone of 2012
Of course, even if we are going to get it we won't get it for at least another year, maybe year and a half.
I hope that with the release of the pdk the thing will go better, but i don't belive that we will get it soon

No, razr is the best phone I could have compare to my other Android devices, and I very happy with my razr.
The big disappointed I got, came from Motorola's developers and service.
And, no... Ios is bad, has no many options, the system designed for little kids/not intelligent people/lazy hoes/people who can't handle complicated os and etc.
I would never buy such low level device like iphone or ipad..
Iphone is like a console, like xbox or ps3.
And android is like pc.
Who's better? The pc.

I'm assuming RAZR will get it, it is still one of the most up to date phones motorola have on offer.
Based on the ICS release I'd guess we get it rolling out about the same time the Nexus devices get Kola Kubes.
Hopefully at the same time motorola initially promise to keep the bootloader locked then decide to change their mind, completely ignore the promise and do the opposite.
Honestly, I think by the time we get it we'll all be ready to upgrade to a new phone if we haven't already. I'm gonna say Q2 2013...

I don't really have much faith in Motorola updating our devices anytime soon. They're failing to meet their own release schedules for ICS so I don't see how they will have JB out anytime soon.
I was looking for a decent tablet and hoping to get a Prime but the Nexus 7 hits the price point perfectly so I ordered a 16gb one. Hopefully there isn't an issue with Google's release/shipping date so I can enjoy JB faster.
Considering how long it took them to push ICS I seriously doubt we will ever get and official Jelly Bean OTA update. Knowing Verizon they are probably going to EOL the RAZR/MAXX not long after the RAZR HD gets released. Constantly releasing new phones brings them more money... not supporting phones they have out already. The devs on the other hand will probably have one out soon.

Motorola promised ICS 6 weeks after its official release by Google.

http://1.androidauthority.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/motorola-tweet-21.jpg
Releasing it the at the end of June is pretty far from their promise. And when other manufactures release ICS for their phones isn't relevant. This is about Motorola. So yes I have little faith in Motorola. If they had stated that ICS would be released for the RAZR in mid-2012 from the beginning I wouldn't complain. But that isn't what they promised.

They never promised they'd release it within 6 weeks, they promised that they'd release a list of devices that would get ICS. The Q2 release date was the only promise they ever made on it, and they've held to that for Verizon. On GSM, I'm not surprised they've pushed it back, because apparently there are some issues in this OTA and I'm sure they want to fix them up a bit, and then they'll push that update out as the first release for GSM users and a minor update for Verizon users. It probably won't that GSM users are waiting until the end of Q3 for ICS, it will probably be pretty soon.

If you READ what that infamous tweet said, they promised to release DEVICES for ICS. This means devices that meet the hardware requirements for ICS. They in no WAY promised ICS in 6 weeks and there is no way you can twist those tweets to mean that.
Waiting for ICS was horrible. I literally checked for updates every day before I threw in my towel and flashed the LATAM ICS ROM (and loving it).
If the RAZR isn't going to get the support it deserves, would you guys contemplate say, selling your device and getting an HTC One X/Galaxy SIII?
I mean, our devices are still new and can fetch a hefty sum...

This device has awesome specs and is the bastard brother of the Nexus 4. Its not going anywhere soon. I wouldnt count on waiting for LG. You are much better off waiting for the Devs and going with a ROM.
I've read, from multiple sources, that the Optimus G will be getting JB shortly. Most likely Q1 next year, with the Korean version getting it in December. It's coming, oh yes...it's coming.
Here is an article in Yahoo news that states that LG has the OG with a December timeline. Now, taking into consideration that sometimes "stuff" happens, lets be realistic in saying January 2013. If it happens in December though... that would be my Christmas gift.
Disclaimer: I have only had my OG for a couple days and have not read extensively. If there is anything else published after this article refuting the timeline, my apologies.

Don't buy a device based on upgrade promise from manufactures or carriers. But it based on developer support. I have Note 2 and will be turning for optimus g since this one is now unlocked and we can never worry about waiting for updates from useless carriers.
