Trade my Mint USC TP for your Sprint TP - Touch Pro CDMA

Hi everyone...
I thought I would post this here in the CDMA TP group as I am sure there is where most of your read.. I got a great deal on a US Cellular Touch Pro, but I need the sprint version... I did play withe the USC one, installed the NFSFAN's WM6.5.3 v1.04 TP ROM on it (which is awesome)... I have the box, some accessories, etc.... The phone is in mint to near mint condition (looks brand new).. Anyone have a simmialr condition Sprint TP they would want to trade?
Also, if someone is game, I have a Sprint TP as well (same rom), but cosmetically it is only like a 6 or 7.... I would be willing to trade BOTH phones for something newer, like a TP2... Pics are below..
Sprint one - http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/4380917438/
USC one - http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/4380916234/

Feel free to ask any questions

I'm not an expert
Can't you load the sprint dcd file on the USC Touch Pro and call is good?
They are both CDMA. Right?

Yes, but Sprint will not activate non-sprint phones, no matter what rom and settings you have on it...

Have you thought of just swapping the keyboard and screen from the USC one onto the sprint one? That way you have the nicer screen and the sprint mainboard thus using it on Sprint without issues. Unless you are trying to get a TP2 this might be an option for you. If not then you might just look at selling both of them on ebay and then use the money towards a TP2.
This is just a thought though.

I did consider switching the mainboards.... But wouldn;t that be a lot of work? If not I would do that in an instant....
Then I would give the one in the more used condition to my son.... I gave him his first HTC for christmas to use as a skype phone... It was a mint condition HTC Titan (Mogul)... It works great for Skype.. But his brother has a fuze that he uses on GoPhone, I have a Fuze I use on Einstein Wireless, andmy spouce has the Sprint Touch Pro... so I could make both my spouce and son happy if I can jsut switch the board... I will do some searching later tonight about that...
I would do the sale of both phones indivigual and use hte money for hte TP2... but we use the one sprint TP as the everyday caller.. so we would need to switch at the same time or get some loaner phone... thansk for the idea though

I have a sprint one but the esn is bad. As of right now it's activated with MetroPCS.

well, I would need a good esn.. lol

got ya. wasn't sure of the purpose.
but i will say ebay is a nice place. i recently got $86 for a beat up crackberry curve. and tp's are running about $120 for okay/poor condition. so you might be able to squeeze out more. plus ebay has that whole list 5 for free. you still have to pay like 8% of whatever your bid wins but I find it a good deal.

Buy the VZW TP or the Sprint TP? Insurance?

ok, so I picked up the VZW Touch Pro tonight. Everything is great except for the sucky feeling I got jipped on memory compared to the Sprint.
Those of you who bought the Sprint model and have Verizon service, did Verizon still honor any warranty or insurance service on it? My big fear is I pay cash to Sprint for the phone, flash it to work on Verizon, and then I drop it, etc.
While I don't think the memory limit is going to hurt me much today, with 6.5 coming out I suspect it might.
What to do, what to do...
I bought my TP from ebay, it worked great for a month then the charge port broke. I bought spare batteries and chargers and used it for a while because nobody (verizon or sprint) would warranty the phone. Then, a bad flash reset the phone to having a msl of NOT 000000 anddwiping the MIN and MDN back to 0's.
I bought a squaretrade warranty at the time from ebay, so the device is off getting fixed and I am using my titan again for the time being. I f they fix the phone (warranty was a little under $50) then it is the same price as insurance and I will be happy. I can only report my opinions after I receive a working device back though
Moral of this story: If you do not have the original receipt, HTC will not warranty it. Verizons insurance wont cover a sprint phone, most you would get back is a verizon Pro. Sprint won't touch it unless you have a line of service with them.
Hope this squaretrade deal works out...
Kdj,
I'd be really curious how this works out for you, as I have 29 days to decide if I want to go that route.
My Titan ear piece speaker died and VZW swapped it out no problem. I would hate to have something similar with the TP, and not be able to get it fixed.
Good luck!
Yeah, I will definitely chime in on this thread when I get it back. Should be within a week if they work as fast as they claim!
So far, I filed a claim online with them, they emailed me a prepaid UPS returns label and I printed it and stuck it on a box and it is enroute as we speak. If they are able to replace or repair it and have it back in a reasonable fashion I will be pleased.
I also would be very interested in seeing your results. I have a Verizon Touch Pro I got about 2 weeks ago and am loving it so far but also cant help but feel like I got jipped with the -96mb.......... but there is a certain ammount of security in buying from Verizon , you get great support and service for your Verizon device that you wont be getting for the Sprint one from either provider.
Anyways I am waiting to hear your results. Thanks!
Verizon only provides my data and voice access, XDA and PPCgeeks provide the rest!
As an update Squaretrade has received my pro, so I am really getting anxious as to how this proceeds from here. I have been doing research about squaretrade, and most things I hear are good. But I have yet to read anything but random posts or articles saying they are good. Does anybody know personally or can give testimony to the quality of worksmanship they can provide?
Would any body like to see a thread specifically devoted to Squaretrade warranties and feedback from actual users? If this pans out, a one year warranty from them is cheaper than most providers Asurion policies. Maybe I will start a thread in the general section...
Easy answer!
Guys listen up. I was with Verizon for several years and I must say their network and coverage is great. BUT Verizon's pricing is way up there and I was paying a lot every month for 2 Blackberries with data plans and 3000 minutes. $300+ per month got old after about a year of those outrageous bills kept coming each month. So I started shopping all the carriers service plans and NO carrier can compete with Sprint's pricing and plan packages or offer as much as Sprint does for the money. And these days money is an important thing to be using sparingly and we all need to watch our spending. So I jumped ship from Verizon and hopped on Sprint's "Simply Everything" plan and my bill for 2 pda's with unlimited everything Sprint has to offer is only half of what I was paying over at Verizon. And I was only getting 3000 minutes and data with nothing else. I had to pay extra for the text messaging plan. You get the idea...
So now that I got all that out of the way lets get to the question at hand. Which Touch Pro should a person go with??? Ofcourse I went with the Sprint version. (the Verizon version is too square and the sharp corners make it ugly to me as well as less memory and crippled ofcourse as always with Verizon devices). There are a few factors you need to concider when making your decision to stay with the Verizon version or to go with the Sprint version.
1. Network? First things first...decide which network works best for you where you will be using your service most of the time. If the network's coverage in your area blows then don't go with that carrier no matter which device they have that you want.
2. Pricing? If this is of any concern to you then there is an obvious winner in this dept. It's Sprint hands down! You get literally everything for one low flat rate so no suprize phone bills.
3. Devices offered by the two carriers Sprint and Verizon. Both carriers have nice offerings BUT Verizon is famous for crippling their phones while Sprint does not. (another big reason I left Verizon... locked gps on my verizon Blackberry and others and forcing customers to pay extra for a factory equipped gps chip had me furious to say the least! Sprint devices have gps that is as free as a bird to use with any 3rd party app of your choosing).
4. Customer Service??? Honestly Verizon and Sprint both have good customer service so that's not such a concern here.
5. Device warranty? Both carriers are equal in that dept. too. Very good for both.
OK... knowing what I know now, if I were you guys I would return the Verizon Touch Pro asap if you are still within your 30 day "no worry guarantee" period and go over to Sprint and pick up their Touch Pro which is better in every way. Appearance is nicer looking, more memory, gps isn't locked, etc. And ofcourse you are going to save a lot of money AND get a lot more at the same time. That's a win win if you ask me!
Since I've been with Sprint, apx. 6 months) I have had very good network coverage, call quality, etc. It is at least as good as Verizon if not better. Oh there is one thing that is definetely better with Sprint... it's data speeds are far faster than Verizon. This I do know for a fact because I used data with Verizon on several pda devices the past 3 years or so. Sprint's data speeds are faster. If you are stuck in a Verizon contract then your stuck unless you are willing to pay early termination fees. If you're currently with Sprint then you are in the right place. As for using a Sprint branded Touch Pro on Verizon's network, I didn't know Verizon started allowing non Verizon branded devices on it's network. But if they do then that's all good but you will not be doing the Sprint Touch Pro any justice since Verizon doesn't offer what Sprint does. And it would be simply dumb to activate a Verizon branded Touch Pro on Sprint's network, if that's even possible. I tried to activate my Verizon BlackBerry Curve on my Sprint account and that was a huge big fat negative. The device esn's are in each carrier's data bases and if it's from a different carrier then they will not activate it period. That goes for both Sprint and Verizon. I know Sprint will not do it. Verizon on the other hand unless they just recently started allowing non Verizon branded devices on their network, they will not do it either. The bottom line in my post is to go with the better device (Sprint's Touch Pro) on a very good network with awesome plan pricing as well as all the bells and whistles that you can't get with Verizon. Did I mention Sprint is a lot cheaper??? HELL YES I DID!!!
It's a no brainer guys. times are getting rough so you better start thinking about saving $$$ anywhere you can! And we all no that we will pay our cell phone bills no matter what and not pay something else if it comes down to it. Sorry for the long post and I hope this helps some people put some thought into the subject.
That is the classic Sprint convert post
Thanks for your opinion, but sprint and verizons data networks are prety much the same. In the northwest for the most part in far out places that I travel, sprint users have to roam ont verizon network to make calls and data roaming is a whole other animal. I agree that sprint has better pricing and their coverage is getting better. Sprint does not have any roaming agreements with ACS to my knowledge, which serves alaska especially on the kenai peninsula where I travel often. I am not sure if there are many if any GSM coverage up there, as no one in alaska outside of anchorage that I have ran into uses ATT or tmobile. These are my observations and I could be wrong, but when I take my verizon phones to alaska, they play nice with ACS and even recently have allowed EVDO data roaming for me which is nice. I even roam with telus and bell out of canada for reasonable rates. Lets not start another Ford/Chevy/Dodge/Verizon/Sprint/ATT debate
Kinda back on topic, I started a thread in the general section regarding getting opinions on Squaretrade if anyone is looking for options on insuring their Sprint/Alltel/whatever device on a foreign network:
HERE And I hope we can get some feedback.

It's true Verizon has great coverage and roaming agreements. In your case living way out where you live/work you probably don't have too many choices and gsm networks just suck so that's totally out of the question, especially for you. As for most people, we live in metro areas that have good coverage where we commute on a daily basis. As for my post being a "classic" Sprint convert... sorry I wasted your time but it's my personal take and nothing that needs to be titled as classic or however you see it way out in the boonies where you live.
Back to the post topic... Does Verizon even allow non Verizon devices to be activated on their network? The Sprint devices esn's will not be in Verizon's database so even if you flash the Sprint Touch Pro with Verizon firmware that's still not going to change the esn or rebrand the device. Someone enlighten me if this carrier policy has been lifted...
There is a large thread on ppcgeeks devoted to getting Sprints touch pro on verizon network. I have one that was fully functional (minus the charge port issues stated) and the process has worked for various other HTC models including the diamond and mogul too. If you can load a verizon PRL on a device and change the MSL to 000000, it can be on verizons network. Verizon customers can call *228 and choose option 3, which programs whatever phone your calling from to your account and number.
And calm down, I was teasing you about being a sprint convert!
So technically, we know we CAN use a Sprint phone on the Verizon network. It's just the "What if it dies" factor is still there. It's not an inexpensive device, so the thought of carrying it around all day, potentially losing it, is pretty deterring.
Let's hope your warranty works out
I agree with tx_dbs_tx. He gave pros and cons for both sides. I personally agree with him choosing Sprint's version over Verizon's for the performance, memory, and looks of the device. The Sprint Pro is slick and sturdy, there data speeds ARE faster than Verizon's and I have seen the numbers to prove it. Sprint's data is the #1 reason I have service with them, #2 reason is the great prices, #3 the insurance and service and repair is nice and have always had good luck with that. If you REALLY want to do it, and have found the correct way to use the device on that network then go for it, but you won't be disappointed with Sprint.
Thank you all for your opinions, but the original topic was about insuring the device, not which service is better.
As a little update, they sent me an email today saying my device had been repaired and it has already left via UPS second day air. Got an email with tracking number from UPS too. I think they may exchange it for a refurb unit for how fast it took them, but I am not too concerned with that. Post back with final results in a few days.
So far, I am pleased with my experience regarding Squaretrade.
For anyone interested, Squaretrade fixed my charge port and shipped my Touch pro back the same day they received it. I got the actual same device back and the port works and I have been able to reprogram it and get it working again. For $47.99 and no deductible for part failure I would definitely say it was worth it to buy their warranty.
They even replaced the little friction slide in my stylus hole that I accidently ripped out trying to take it apart They stand behind their claims and are inexpensive, so I would recommend them to anyone buying phones off of ebay.
I bought a sprint TP on ebay after trying the phone @ both Sprint and Verizon. The verizon phone had a lag by comparison. Memory is the key here. Interestingly enough the Verizon party line is that they lowered the memory to keep the cost down. HMMM... They still charge more than Sprint for the phone.
Moving the phone off Sprint to Verizon was not for the faint of heart, but not all that difficult if you are willing to invest the time. The one thing you will have to put up with (at least I have not figured it out) is that the phone will show that you are roaming at all times.
Oh, and the Sprint phone looks better...
IMHO
You can definately move devices between networks.
You need QPST 2.7.3+, DUMA KEYS, YOUR MSID, bITPIM, MODEM DRIVER, and some guts.
You can find good instructions and tools @ PPC GEEKS.

There are some patched PRLs over at ppcgeeks that gets rid of the roaming triangle, and you can use QPST to change your carrier banner. I never was able to update my ERI.
Thanks. I actually found those after leaving my post. The ERI did not work for me either.

Geeee I wonder why the super duper cripple Verizon touch pros are not selling...
Retarded Verizon... I recently broke my unlocked sprint touch pro on vzw... now i'm screwed and cant get another one on Verizon service... Back to the outdated xv6800 for me
I'm starting to hate verizon...
anyone know of a work around? I just bought a sprint tp to activate on my verizon plan.
yeah, call them and have them add your MEID to their database and wait. Then switch carriers when they balk at the idea
Actually guys, I just spoke with VZW customer service today and they put me on hold to talk to tech support and they told me there was no problem activating the Sprint Touch Pro on their network. They advised me to unlock the phone, then take it into Verizon Wireless service center and they could flash verizon's ROM to it and change the MEID to work in their system.
Did you have any luck at VZW? If this is what they do, couldn't we just flash a vzw ROM on our own and go in? I just cant see the tech's at vzw actually do this.
Well, of course VZW has ****ed yet another long standing customer. I called and was told what I stated in my earlier post. So I went off and bought a sprint touch on craigslist. Well I unlock it and take it in, then of course, NO we cannot do anthing like that. Called tech support twice and was given 2 more different contradicting stories. Well now I am completely livid after being lied to several times, spending the cash on a phone I am being told I can now not activate on vzw, and no way to be compinsated for my money spent.
Spoke with a supervisor on my 4th call to VZW explaining to her that I understood they can add the MEIDs, but "aren't allowed", so now I am just seeking some type of compensation for my wasted time and cash on the sprint Touch Pro purchase. After all said and done, I get offered an extra $50 credit on a new phone if I choose to sign up for my new every two agreement on the 21st of this month!
I guess I'll bite the bullet and get the damn crippled ass VZW version touch pro, but going to see if they can give me a $100 extra credit instead. We'll see.
And before any VZW touch pro owners flame me, I know the RAM doesn't make that much increase in performance between VZW and Sprint's TP. I just like the sprint versions look more and of course HATE the gay ass offset "M" key keyboard. (Worst design that could have been easily fixed)

Amen! I've got a Sprint TP (VZW Enabled) right in front of me. When I say VZW Enabled, I mean that if I dial *611, I get VZW. There is nothing between this phone and VZW service but them administratively allowing it. Tommorow I'm going to try an experiment someone else suggested. I will setup the phone for Alltel, activate there (no contract required unlike VZW since I have the phone), then once it's working, walk into a VZW store and tell them I'd like to port my service (and phone) over to them (this should give them incentive right?). Then I can just cancel service with Alltel (no penalty) and be done with it. here's hoping.
All you nay-sayers can keep your pie-holes filled. Nobody wants to here "can't" or "won't"
I don't think that will work. The problem is getting the Meid on verizons DMD. It's possible it could work but it seems a lot more work/trouble. It would be easier for you to sell your sprint TP for an alltel TP and just activate that. Please let me know if it'll work as I'm trying to activate my sprint TP too.

Great. Just flashed to 21725 yesterday and I'm still going strong. Once I switched service back to my Vogue and had trouble getting data back on my TP. Trick I found is to activate service on another phone (Vogue in my case), get everything working propertly, then use QPST to copy your keys. Activate the TP again and copy the keys in place. I think this is needed because SOME aspect of my Sprint TP hasn't been updated so OTA can't push the new keys down to the phone.

Went to sprint store today, almost pulled the trigger had questions for real users

So I popped into my local sprint store today to check out the phone in person and I am wondering from some people that actualley have it. It was a half hour before closing and all the reps were busy so I didnt have a chance to talk to them. I am also wondering what kind of deal everybody got on this phone cause I know sometimes it depends on who u talk to with what they can do for you.
The floor model the buttons on the bottom felt really cheap and clicky, was this because its an abused floor model or is that just how it feels ?
I thought this phone auto flipped when you tilted it like the iPhone and that other verizon PPC ?
And what is up with the dpad ? are you able to just slide your finger over it ? Cause clicking it next to the other buttons felt weird and akward ?
Until I played with it in person ( a floor model though) I was really sold on getting this phone espicalley with all the cool 6.5 roms for it. The touchflo interface didnt feel very smooth either but that could be a number of things.
I guess I am just wonderng from some of the fans here who use the phone regulerly if these concerns I have are just some of the negatives of it or what ?
Obviously I would love a touch HD but that isnt an option at this time.
I am currently on boost mobile and ive gone from using a tytn back in the day to this w385 flip phone piece of garbage. But for 50 a month unlimited I cant complain much, but I called sprint and to my amazement with my credit I was approved for no deposit and 150 spending limit and I just want teh unlimted eveyrhting plan. Which I am also wondering if that includes tethering the phone ?
Hopeing some of your Touch Pro Sprint gurus can answer my questions so I can feel better and become one of the family and finally get posting again back on XDA I sincerly miss hanging out here but since my tytn died and I left atnt I havent been around much.
Thanks everybody!!
1. I got the phone from Best Buy on a price drop for $150 2-weeks after release.
2. I got $100 mail in rebate from Sprint (This is hit or miss from what I hear, but for .40 cent stamp try it).
Phone itself:
D-Pad is weird, yes.
Buttons and slide keyboard feel cheap, yes.
(Coming from a Mogul)
It's a cheap phone, for a cheap price, with some pretty descent insides.
Now at this point and time, personally...I would wait a couple months for TP2, which has reported on engadget coming to sprint 3rd Q, so I would guess 4th Q for real. Always late it seems.
And supposidly the Instinct 2 is literally an iPhone killer (potentially) according to reviews, but that is probably inappropriate statement without literally playing with it personally.
Contract speak.
Check this unless you have corporate deal (they seem to be better):
http://delivery.sprint.com/m/p/sprint/epc/epclanding.asp
E-Mail: [email protected]
CID: 383
$59.99 Everything 500
Not as good as the old SERO deal, but still descent compared to EVERYONE else out there...
Sprint will tell you, YOU can't teether. But you can get PDA Net or other's and do it, just keep you streeming bandwidth under there alloted contract amount and you shouldn't get dropped.
Most of the current ROMs and such the flipping of the phone (Accelerometer) works. There are plenty of applications in which you can define what can flip via gyro and what can't and utilities to set it up. In the Stock Sprint ROM, it's very finnicky as to when it will do it or not.
I've had my TP since December, it's good, I like it. Droped it a couple times, still runs like a champ, no dents or dings suprisingly tough for how cheap it feels. So I guess my fingures are decieving me...
But it's really up to you on if you want to hold off until TP2 Rhodium, or Diamond 2 Topaz, come to sprint later this year or not...
Hopefully this was enough info...!!!
L8R
Just buy it!!!
There will be no dramatic improvements in the mobile device industry to early to mid 2010. The latest on the touch pro 2 is that they are still under contract negotiations and there is no expected US release dates yet. The touch pro is a solid phone and buttons work great. Dpad takes a little getting used to. Interface is snappy and hardware keyboard is fast. Instinct 2 will be out of date before it is released. $250 after rebates at alltel.
Hey thanks for all the great info man I really appreciate it a lot!! Sprint has quoted me at 399 for a new signup and a 100$ mail in rebate. It just seems a bit pricey for the phone. Im jealous u got it for so cheap thats it much more reasonable for the this phone. I used to have a TyTn er whatever the second generation one was and then the company I worked at I had a Palm (those are just aweful) and now I have this w385 flip thru boost and I am having serious PPC withdrawls latly. I really would like to go ahead and get this phone but if something cooler is in the wings maybe I should wait I really dont know, I was even looking on ebay to see about picking this phone up and going with sprint and if I bring my own phone I shouldnt have to sign a contract and I could just bail on them if I wanted to. just for 99 unlimited everything I really am leaning towards sprint as I am paying 50 unlimited for everything with boost on my current phone.
I am checking out your referral link now, it shows the touch diamond as having the touchflo but I thought the touch pro did too ? Or maybe just with a Rom upgrade. it also has teh touch diamond for 50 bux cheaper guess that having a real keyboard counts. I would be all for the touch diamond if it had a bigger screen but having such a small screen with what seems like such a waste of space on the bottom of the phone that I need to have a hardware keyboard to make much sense of it all.
So with this referral the 500 minutes includes unlimited everything else ? thats not too bad of a deal I really will need unlimited minutes too eventualley but not quite yet so I could save some cash in the time being.
If I were to buy this phone on ebay and singup with sprint I wouldnt need a 2 year contract anymore would I ?
Oh wow the touch pro 2 looks AMAZING! I wish I could get a definite timeframe on this phone oh man I hadnt seen any pics of it and its all I need in a phone for a while how cool.
Coming from the Mogul as well, it was a major let down not having as many buttons on the side. That said, it's a whole lot faster, and worth the money. The buttons *are* clicky I guess.......suppose that's subjective.....but it never felt cheap to me. As for waiting for the TP2.... having used the TP1, I wouldn't wait I didn't get the cool deal that chAz15 got, but Ebay has them. I think I paid $379 for mine, and I didn't have to extend the contract. Just go to your Sprint acct web page and activate the new phone.
FYI, Sprint quoted me at $399 *with* a $100 rebate - meaning it was $400 after everything was said and done. Also, at the store they wanted to hit me $20 as a "conversion fee" or something. Did the one raised eyebrow thing, and put my money away. Jury is out on the TF3D. It screams "Aero" to me every time I use it: It looks really nice, but the phone is simply faster when it's off. I keep turning it off and on again, depending on how I'm feeling that day.
Coming back full circle - if you liked the Mogul, you'll love the TP....except for the buttons thing It's worth it to me to have gotten it.
Hope that was helpful.
Thanks for the info. I am actualley not a sprint user currently I am on boost mobile and am wondering if I signup for sprint and bring my own phone if I will have to still sign a 2 year contract ?
If you are going to get it, I say go to Best Buy and pick it up. They take off the $100 MIR already for you.
Nice info bro, I didnt know best buy sold sprint phones! So even if I bring my own phone "Jessica" on there chat told me I still have to sign a contract. last time I spoke to there live chat there name was Jessica too, and the person totally blew me off just now haha
wow the bestbuy website says 749 for the phone haha

I see the whole best buy mobile thing I never knew they started doing this, so paying 299 plus tax on the spot sounds good to me much better then 399 lol what about the SAVE50 code I prolly cant use that at bestbuy though but I get my 100 right there. Hmm decisions decisions, I am getting close to finalley do this deal!

Hey before you do - go out and look for a SERO Plan to purchase off someone. Got to PPCGeeks or SprintUsers.com. I purchased a $30/month 500 minute plan (I don't use it to talk all that much)+unlimited data and text messaging for $110 dollars. The guy called Sprint and conferenced me in and it was done in around 20 minutes. I used to be with Verizon paying 60/month with no data and no texts. What's great is I got my bill and there is also a $5 discount taken off every month - so it's more like $25/month I am paying. I added in TEP (Total Equipment Protection) and now I pay around 35/month. It'll have paid for itself in a few months! IT'S SO WORTH IT! PM me if you need any tips.

To my knowledge you DO NOT have to sign a new contract. Boost is a part of Sprint/Nextel and the contract shouldnt need termination in order to switch to a different section [if you will].
I did something rather sneaky without noticing. I bought a bought a Mogul from ebay for $40..only thing wrong? (nothing) LOL! the seller somehow thought it was bricked because it got stuck on the loading screen. all i did was hard reset it again and it worked perfectly. I called Asurion to get it replaced because it was scratched up, I paid $50 for my deductible (now $100 after the 19th) and they sent me a BRAND NEW FACTORY SEALED TP instead =0
Total= $90+ sooo worth it lol.
THANKS TO EVERYONE HERE FOR WHAT YOU GUYS DO ALSO.

The SERO plan is officially DEAD. you cannot get the 30$ sero plan anymore the cheapest they have i think is 45 or 55 for their lowest tier sero plan. the plan was changed last year on july 13. i got my phone plan on the 11th
sorry to burst your bubble
i have every sprint htc device and by far the touch pro is the worst. imo it is a pos. the only reason i have one is because assurion didnt have any titans left and they sent me a touch pro. I hate this device for soo many reasons. The screen is lifting on one corner and if i wanted to i could peel the screen off easily with my fingernail. The stock roms and customs roms ive flashed all have bugs. Im really close to smashing this phone just for the enjoyment i would get from all the time ive spent trying to get it to work the way its supposed to.
If you havent bought this device yet, dont. wait for the touch pro 2, and hopefully HTC has stopped eating Big Macs and fixed their sh|t.

While that's true the plan is dead, I stated that he could purchase the plan itself off someone else (i.e. not directly thru Sprint), who currently has a SERO plan that they'd like to transfer. So while you can no longer purchase these plans from Sprint - you can still find them out there...
The touch pro did seem a bit cheap feeling to me, I have had alot of HTC devices as well but I have no time frame on the touch pro 2 and I have this POS motorola flip phone and I cant stand it anymore I gotta get back to PPC land where I belong. Ugh what to do what to do...
So I was just on the HTC site and went to the HTC store to purchase this phone for sprint and have a 99 unlimited sprint plan. It is saying I will be paying 299 today and still have a 100 MIB ? Can anyone else check this out and let me know what they think if this is true I might just go ahead and do this today. 200 bux for this phone is pretty dam good. It mentions something about LetsTalk I dunno if that is some sort of third party that handles these transactions or what ?
I took a screenshot of the deal, I wonder if its legit, or am I just looking for excuses to buy this right now lol

@twist,
I am not sure where you might be located, but let me tell you a couple of things regarding this phone and Sprint. I'll put it as highlights and will give you a nice site that has much more users than xda-devs for the cdma version of this.
*The battery life sucks. No matter what you do (data off, unlock and put a different rom, disable TF3D) it will eat battery like there is no tomorrow.
*Overheat. The phone will get crazy hot even after talking for only 5 minutes. Also, it gets hot while charging and syncing as well.
*The volume (speaker) stinks as well. You can barely hear the person on the other end. There is a fix for this (audiopara3), but even with this, it is still pretty bad.
*There is the chance that an oil spot looking rectangle will start developing in the middle of your screen, which will get bigger as you use your phone. I believe that this is due to the overheating, but it can render your touchscreen useless after a while.
*Half the time, you will get missed calls. I literally stood in one place monitoring the bars in my phone for a couple of minutes and I saw them ranging from 0 to 3 to all (I live in Miami and most providers have very decent networks around where I live). You will only realize that you missed the call because you will get new voicemails as the callers will be directed there. I have tried changing polling parameters so that this phone would poll the towers more often, but no dice.... I have read that this is Sprint's fault and not the phone since I have seen comments from people with various devices (Blackberries, regular phones, etc) reporting similar issues.
Long story short, the $99 (the one I have) is pretty good, but if you cannot communicate with the rest of the world is kinda pointless. I am telling you this because I bought one for my wife about 2 weeks ago and I am going to return it tomorrow (and break my contract with Sprint). Save yourself some time and don't do it.
Take a look at this site and you will see a lot of people complaining as well regarding similar things to what I just described.
Good luck and I hope I helped you some
I dont know what to do then bro, I need a new PPC I want to go with sprint cause of there unlimted plan, I am currently with boost paying 50 a month unlimited with this POS motorola w385 flip phone and I need my email and browsing and all that good stuff back.
Honestly, like I said... I am not sure where you live, but GSM providers are normally a little better (and for the most part cheaper) than CDMA. Sprint's everything plan is really cheap for what you get, but alternatively you could try going with one of the following:
*If you get MetroPCS where you live, they have a $50 all-inclusive plan (and yes, there are way of doing tethering with most of their phones too!). You can get a CDMA PDA phone (used or new without contract) and get the people at Metro to flash it into their networks for you. I have seen lots of people with the Touch Pro flashed on the network. I know that the internet can be a little sluggish but I heard that they are in the process of upgrading to something very fast. They have the Samsung Finesse if you don't want to go through the trouble of flashing a phone to their system. I know it doesn't have M$ OS but...
*AT&T offers the Fuze (GSM version of the Touch Pro). I actually have this one from my work and the worst thing that I can complain about is the battery life. All the other points in my previous post are not applicable to this one. The cons? The same (than the one from Sprint) plan costs $20 more.
*T-Mobile finally has 3G in many areas and you could try going with the Android, which has 3G capabilities. Most of their other phones suck (considering that they have heavy emphasis of the Sidekick). At this point, the only M$ OS capable phone that they carry is the T-Mobile Wing, which in essence is a Wizard painted blue. The Android (G1) is actually cheaper than the Wing too!!
*Don't even bother with Verizon... they are expensive as hell...
Hopefully, this will help you make a decision. Good Luck!

Sprint Touch Pro or Blackberry curve?

I got a sprint touch Pro and i've had it for around 4 weeks. I must say, I am starting to think this phone is junk. It is slow, phone comes on and rings after about 3 rings when calling the phone, and I noticed sometimes I have to press something twice for it to reconize on the touch screen.
I am thinking about going to a Blackberry Curve 8330. Does anyone know if it is a good phone?
I have been thinking about switching too. But the Curve is very out dated with no WiFi and small screen. I would wait for the Palm Pre. Sprint will also be releasing new Blackberry sometime this summer.
Shacklock, I had a PPC6800 with US Cellular. I seriously thought of going to the Touch Pro, as my contract was up for renewal. In the end though, I went with a red Curve. I've had my 8330 for going on three weeks now.
There are things that it does better than Windows Mobile, and there are other areas where WinMo is superior. That said, I'm quite happy with my new BlackBerry.
If you buy one, don't load up on accessories at your Sprint store. Instead, check out Amazon. They have an amazing assortment of OEM BB accessories at bargain basement prices.
Good luck whichever way you go.
really? cuz i have a blackberry 8330 and i was looken to but the htc touch pro and the curve is cool but i dnt like the keys on it really there too small and the bold is comming out in late may or maybe july so i suggest u wait and if ur willing to sell ut htc touch pro let me know [email protected]
Get rid of the stock rom!!! Go to a custom rom....forum.ppcgeeks.com is a great place to find them. Blackberry's are all obsolute.

In need of a good Gingerbread back up phone

My current daily use phone is a rooted Sensation, and my secondary device "was" a G2. I say it "was" because I just gave it to my wife to get her off Blackberry and into the 21st century. Unfortunately that only leaves me with one Android device to mess with, and now I need another backup. I am actually only planning on using the backup phone to test out with my PBX, so it doesnt really matter what network it runs on. I suppose if push came to shove I would want one that could operate on Tmobile USA in case of a pinch, but its really just for internal testing. My only requirement is that the phone runs Gingerbread as that was the first version with a built in SIP client. I see MetroPCS has a Gingerbread device for $79 that I could play with, but I would really like to get something in the $40 to $50 range. Checking on Craigslist all the phones in that price range are either broken or 4 years old. Any suggestions?
I've seen the Samsung Gio go for around 75 bucks prepaid. My friend bought it and it has a smallish screen but fairly good use.
