Hello -
Having had my 1.76 Hero unlocked (£20) to allow vodafone use, it now has to go into HTC to repair a broken g-sensor. It will come back locked to t-mobile again, with upgraded t-mobile ROM.
I intend to replace the Rom anyway, with Modaco custom ROM.
So do I need to unlock it all over again (I don't have a t-mobile sim card), or is there a way to go directly to the ROM flashing?
thanks,
alex
Do you have the option to input an unlock code?

He isn't asking about rooting, instead of spamming every post in the forum with answers maybe just dont assume he wants something he didnt ask for?
you have even contradicted your post saying he needs a gold card in the last post!

Yea, it's same IMEI in everywhere.

I suggest you to flash some ROM, i think it will remove any SIM Locks and so one. Find ROM on development forum for your phone.
You can get a Worldwide sony ericsson Unlock Code from imeicodes.co.uk this however takes about a week to get your code, so you need to be patient. The code will work fine aslong as you havent used up your tries to enter it (just like a nokia phone). It's a good idea to check your unlock code attempts before ordering a code by doing the following:
Press menu < < menu < menu menu <
Then you can check the counter [0 or 5].
If it says 0 then you cannot enter codes.
And STOP giving your IMEI on public sites!

Thanks. but, now im trying to install custom rom to my mobile.
Thanks again for infor
This http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888227is not ROM but tutorial on making new one. I'm using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059361 and it's very good. First you have to check if your Baseband Version is M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015 (Settings→Phone info (I don't remember how it exactly is in English). If not, you must use FlashTool to change it. Next, you have to root your device, install ClockWorkMod (xRecovery) and flash your new ROM.
I'm not sure if it will remove SIM Lock although it's worth of trying. Ask if you have any questions.
Sorry about my english if I wrote sth wrong

Good night. (3:25 AM here )
99% sure roms don't remove sim locks :<
Flashing a ROM has nothing to do with your SIM Lock. So no flashing will magically unlock your device. You need to get the proper unlock code, or have someone with a unlock dongle to do it.

Sure if you got more tries to use with correct unlock code you still can do that.
Else you can get it unlocked via dongle.

You have to unlock bootloader in order to do that. Read the thread about SE tweaker tool in the mini/pro development section also check out xxxlordxxx's thread about his one click tool.

AFAIK, no...
There exists two kind of locks,
SIM Locks (that lock the carrier), there is no free way to do this.
Cheaper way I found is the one unlock credit from Omnius, but you will be unable to unlock the bootloader. Same thing happens with several "unlock by software" methods. Read about it before unlocking if you plan to flash CM7 anyway after unlocking
BootLoader Lock, that prevents from replacing the kernel... It's free to unlock. And changing the kernel is required for the unofficial CM7.
Be careful because some unlocks work by patching the firmware, so upgrading it would sim relock.

Well, the device was bought from Vivo carrier, which said the device was unlocked, but I was not able to use sim card from Tim carrier. After flashing miniCM7 it is working. Maybe was a coincidence or bad contact between SIM card and the device. I have no idea how to clarify this now...

When you inserted the other carrier sim, and restarted the phone, did it asked for the unlocking pin code? Did you restart the phone? sim cards can't be hot plugged.

I've sim-unlocked my phone just by using SE updater and updating software from 1.6 to 2.1. Phone was locked to Telenor Serbia. So, what kind of lock was it?

It is possibility to unnlock via unlocking bootloader. My phone was locked on tele2. And after i unlock now my phone is sim unlocked. I already try to put in sim cards of other mobile networks.

Thanks a lot for the reply, very informative. I would probably use a paid service but since i bought these phones for 20 eur each, it's almost the price of the phone to unlock it, not really worth it.
Can you expand on BootLoader Lock? I though it did not do that, from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225 third myth says it does not do that. what gives
tried this: unlockbootloader sonymobile com / instructions but my phones don't have the Bootloader Status parameter, guess I'm SOL
I have the code to unlock my Xperia S, got it for free from my provider
But I do not have an "locked" sim card.
How do I enter the code then?
Just pop in any other SIM and it'll ask you to enter the unlock code.

Yes that would be a solution, but it makes it alittle harder to get hold of a micro sim..
Oh sorry, tought that was like a FAQ section. Maybe a mod could move it?
You won't be unlocking the bootloader I don't think, just the sim lock on the phone.

Sim unlocking the phone doesn't seem to have anything to do with the bootloader unlock. And if you don't have another SIM card, then you probably don't have to even SIM unlock your phone in the first place.
There are some users on this forum which claimed SIM unlocking the phone will get rid of the bootloader lock as well. I have unlocked my phone, and have proven this to be false. Strangely, whenever I questioned the users for their proof they never posted it.

You are right. I don't actually need to remove the sim lock. But I read somewhere that the bootloader became unlockable when the sim lock was removed.
But if that wasn't true for you, it probably won't be for me neither..
Doing a SIM unlock will not unlock the bootloader. Both are unrelated. As long as there isn't a test point method you will not be able to unlock the bootloader.

#073887* didn't work with my AT&T Atrix HD running 77.12.22.MB886.ATT.en.US (Android 4.0.4), nor my son's AT&T Samsung a157. I've seen elsewhere that this worked for some people, but I don't recall their brand/model.
Hello everyone,
I intend to buy a branded sim locked Xperia Go. It looks like that will bring Android 4.0.3/4.0.4, and the official 4.1 is now rolling out.
Question is, will I have problems upgrading to 4.1? As fair as I understand, if the Carrier does not release the 4.1, I have to apply it manually - and to apply it manually, I have to unlock my bootloader (I suppose) - which from the Sony tutorial it looks pretty simple.
Problem is, since my phone will be sim locked, is this going to be a problem?

Hi everyone,
I have purchased a HTC Desire X from Orange Romania 2 months ago and now I moved out of the country, so I need to use it with a different sim card. The phone is locked on Orange and they're asking for 100E to get it unlocked, which they won't get Anyway, the point is that they change the factory unlock codes, so getting the unlock code from the IMEI is not an option. Has anyone managed to sim-unlock a desire X without using the unlock code? If yes, could it share the steps? I would be very grateful, thanks in advance!

And there is nobody that knows what they're using for unlocking?
Due to S-On there is no free option available atm. But you can go to http://www.sim-unlock.at/, there you'll only have to pay 25 € for unlocking, plus it's reported as working for a few times already on this phone.
Thanks, but as I said at the beginning, Orange changes the unlock code so I don't think it will work.
