I've unlocked a Touch Dual for free, but that was only ONE.
I need one or two more devices to try the "solution".
If anybody feels like trying, just send a private message and I'll send you the instructions.
(The steps are very easy)
EDIT: Sorry, guys, this doesn't work.
I'll need you to go to jocky's thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395945
YES, this also unlocks the SIM! (Yaaayyy!!! .. ??)
I use this!!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395945
I need to use the search button first then...
B.t.w. thanks to the VERY talented jockyw2001...
But for people that couldn't unlock it with jockyw2001's software should pm me...
For example: KPN Touch Dual's shouldn't be able to get unlocked with that software.
Maybe I can help you.
You can also try this:
- Take out the memory card.
- Put your working sim card in your device and put your device on.
- Check to see that you have a network signal.
- Take your working sim card out of the device and put in a sim card which doesn't work on your device WITH PIN ENABLED
- Turn on your phone --> BUT DON'T ENTER THE PIN CODE.
- Now download http://www.imei-check.co.uk/NIKIv2Unlock.zip and open the software.
- Check if your device is unlocked.
(Normally the NIKIv2Unlock.zip gives you a file which you need to send to imei-check to get your device unlocked for 18 GBP, but this way it should be unlocked for free)
I had a *.unl in the same folder, but if I'm not mistaken, the software doesn't check if it's there.)

Hey all
i have a htc hero on Orange UK and i have received an unlock code from orange so i can use my O2 sim however everytime i put my o2 card in i get 'No Service' and everytime i boot the handset up i have to enter the Network unlock code in.
it still works fine with my orange SIm but i am having no luck with getting o2 to work.
the current ROM is 2.73.61.5
many thanks
This is a well known problem with the Orange 2.73 ROM. You need to flash a different ROM in order for the unlock code to be accepted.
I'd suggest either a generic HTC ROM, or the latest MoDaCo if you are happy to have a rooted phone. There are plenty of threads here which describe how you can do this.
Regards,
Dave

Will you please give the detailed steps of how you were able to unlock the HTC Hero Orange UK with 2.73.61.5 Firmware
I am using Windows 7
I don't have an Orange SIM card.
You need to replace your ROM with something other than the Orange ROM.
See this link for step by step instructions.
Once you have done this, you can then insert your non-Orange SIM and enter your unlock code.
After the phone is unlocked, you can then reload the Orange ROM if you so wish, or load a custom ROM/root whatever.
Regards,
Dave

no no - those steps on there are to allow you to root your hero and also update with a cooked rom other than that there are plenty of websites where you can get unlock codes from
if you can't find any then i can get you an unlock code for you htc: £11
Ah right, I'm already rooted with a different rom.
I tried another site the other day but they said they could not supply me a code for an orange hero and refunded me.
I am using Micro SD Card in a SD Card Adapter,
I tried to run the command given in this forum:
adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid
But I am getting an error saying "device not found"
Can you help me what is the exact command for finding the device to get the code
Make sure the phone connects fine through HTC Sync before trying adb.

The "device not found" message is displayed because the SD card isn't in the phone!
In order to run that command, the SD card needs to be in the phone.

no, sorry. Pay websites, or t mobile. No unlocker for the hd2 (that we know about)
But you can get it for $10.70 from this guy on ebay ....
I did not even need mine unlocked yet , but for $10.70 , just had to do it, got my unlock code in about 15 minutes , and it worked fine ...
Btw you can use file explorer or whatever, browse to /windows , and run simlock.exe and unlock your phone even if you do not have a foreign sim card ...

I've used him several times in the past and never had any problems. Even on a Saturday he got me an unlock code within an hour. During the week - 10-15 minutes.
Do you have a friend with TMobile? Have him/her put their sim in your HD2 and then have them call TMobile from the phone requesting to unlock the phone.
Let them tell TMobile that they are planning on going out of the country and want to be able to use various providers. Tmobile will provide the unlock code to a current tmobile user.

Dont get excited, , what it means is that rather than have to put a different sim into the phone to automatically bring up the unlock code wizard so you can enter the code, you can start the wizard manually and enter the code, thus you can unlock it whilst you still only have the tmo sim to work with.
Ah, thanks. I figured it wasn't what it sounded like.
So, "the guy from eBay" seems to be the place to go for a quick and successful unlock code? The price is right anyway.
Thanks
Yea. seems to get pretty good feedback. I got mine from O2, took them 6months, lol, but hey, it was free, and i didnt actually need it unlocked.
Hello All,
I have the Xperia X10 (SO-01B) from NTT Docomo, Japan.
Firmware version 2.1-update1
Baseband version: 2.0.52
Kernel version: 2.6.29 SEMCHost#1
Build #: 2.0.1.B.0.19
I have an unlock code but can't seem to figure out how to enter it into the phone.
When I put in either a T-Mobile or AT&T sim card, the sim card pic at the top of the phone has an "x" in it. I've watched the youtube video about unlocking and I don't get the screen to enter the code.
I've been reading a lot through XDA-developers and other sites and I'm getting conflicting info. Some say I need to flash a new ROM; some say I don't need to.
I'm not real confident flashing a ROM on this phone. Did it with my Treo years ago but I had a better handle on that phone...not so much with this Droid.
One last thing, where I'm staying only has an eMac for my use.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
If I remember correctly, all you had to do was pop in a different sim card (like a T-Mobile or AT&T) and restart your phone. The X10 would then prompt you to enter some sort of unlock code like a sim pin or something like that. With my once AT&T locked X10, any code I would enter wouldn't work. I suggest you fork over the $50 clams or so for a USB Data Cable unlock. It's a program that you pay for and download that gets you one unlock credit that unlocks
your X10. That's what I did and it worked beautifully. Just follow the directions, connect your phone to your comp, the flash tool will do its thing and it should successfully unlock your X10. Hope this helps.

thank you for the help and...
Yep, popped in the different sim card and restarted the phone. But I was never prompted to enter an unlock code. The phone goes right to my welcome screen and shows an "x" over the sim card.
Does the USB data cable unlock require a PC or will it work on a MAC?

Try pressing this combo from the lock screen when you got your SIM that works with the phone in.
Home>Back>Back>Home>Back>Home>Home>Back
That will get you in to the Service Menu. Then go in to the Service Info and press The SIM lock menu.
That gives you a screen that looks like the one i attached.
If your number next to "Network" says 0 you can't unlock it with a code.
Your screen will most likely have [ X ] when it's locked.

Believe you have to unbrand the phone there are other threads that talk about this.
BTW where did you get your code.
For Softbank , NTT Docomo etc.. you must get onto a stock rom ie an unbranded one for the phone to prompt you to enter the code.
If not you must do it using the USB cable method.
The unlock screen has been disabled on softbank and docomo firmwares.
I have the same problem~
Edit: My other method is working for AT&T (should be other GSM too) byt not CDMA. http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/sim-unlock-method-t3143333/post61539075

Pretty much Simlock tool is looking for config.dat which you can get from here https://www.sieempi.ro/blog/2011/09/22/universal-sim-unlock-for-s-offed-htc-devices-536 thanks to sieempi
Which I tried and did not work for me , but as above it says 'Failed to ENABLE simlock'.... so that is confusing, is Sprint not SIMLOCKED? I sure can't us my New Zealand sim on it...
If you use a 'dummy' config.dat it will fail and not try to read it and it will say invalid imei in the logcat.
As for the 'device info tool' when you load the files, i.e cid.txt, imei.txt (DO NOT DO THIS IT IS MOST LIKELY ILLEGAL IN YOU COUNTRY) and sf.txt (not sure what this is) it loads and changed the values.
These are loaded onto the EXTERNAL SD Card as seen above '/mnt/media_rw/ext_sd/'
For example cid.txt would ONLY contain
SPCS_001
Nothing else would be in the file. Likewise for IMEI and I assume for sf (any idea what SF is??)
This is not really anything new as CID can be changed in download mode using 'fastboot oem writecid SPCS_001'.
Likewise with that other thing that can be changed but shouldn't DO NOT DO THIS IT IS MOST LIKELY ILLEGAL IN YOU COUNTRY
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Just some food for thought here guys

I have the T-Mobile variant, and doesn't Sprint only use their sim card for LTE? I believe that I read somewhere that the only thing that the Sprint variants can use the sim card slot for is to get 3g gsm for traveling overseas. It won't even work on US gsm networks, so I don't think that you can use the sim slot to unlock a Sprint phone. I know that if you tell them that you are going to be traveling abroad they will give you the unlock code for that purpose. Also did you try to get a config.dat file from Seempi? I know that on the gsm phones you have to get that file, and put it on your external sd card. Then you would use the simlock tool.
Hmmm. I read that it can be used internationaly too, when unlocked by Sprint. So thought there might be some other way. Might have to wait for another method like the m7 and m8 had. Tried the Config.Dat above and it said, failed to enable SIM lock. Which makes me think it is unlocked but Sprint is blocking the SIM on the software side.
I have tried Bad Boys Rom and Viper One also.
On the plus side, I believe I have added the band's requires to get it to work over here.
Guess I'll just wait and get another one in the meantime.
Thanks again

hi, i have a sprint htc m9 and i too im trying to get it unlocked. i have read all the threads on the htc m9 but i have some questions:
must my m9 be S-Off to access FTM mode?
i have been trying but i am not getting into that mode. is there a way to do so from adb or an app? i read on the sprint forum to keep pressing volume up and power buttons until you get the FTM screen but that did not happen as the phone kept powering on and off.
when i try holding the buttons for 7 seconds nothing happens.
can you clarify the S-OFF and the process to access FTM mode
best regards
I never tried it being S-On. I have a Sprint M9 and I could get into FTM but the unlock did not work.

Really need to get this sim unlocked, so I can make sure it goes before messing around with enabling bands through QPST.
Thanks

Shouldn't matter. Mine was activated though. Can you get into FTM? I can but the SIM unlock method does not work on my Sprint M9

That is exactly what I expected on a Sprint model, as mine did that too. Also notice how it says 'Failed to ENABLE simlock'. Strange

Most likely since Sprint does not use a sim card except for LTE it will not function as it would on a GSM phone. I remember reading when Sunshine became available for the M9 that sim unlock was included, but like my previous statement it probably won't for Sprint variants. What I first did to sim unlock my T-Mobile M9 was I get a temporary unlock from T-Mobile,and then I searched for all files and data pertaining to the sim. I was able to locate the files where it showed the temporary unlock, and I changed the data to show that it was temporary unlocked until 2015. The temporary unlock was good for 30 days, but after 45 days it's still unlocked, and it tells me in the unlock app that it's unlocked until 2015. Temporarily that is.?

According to Sprint it is GSM compatible but GLOBAL mode needs to be enabled. So you may be on to something with the whole 'SIM Unlock' thing. http://eguides.sprint.com/support/e...htc_one_m9_ug/enable_global_roaming_mode.html
What sort of file was it that contained the unlock info? Or was it part of a partition such as pg1fs / pg2fs etc?
My AT&T version arrive tomorrow and hopefully it is locked. I intend to dump all partitions before and after SIM unlock to find the difference if it is there
Damn phone... please ignore

I am on T-mobile. In this FTM mode, I cannot see anything on the /sdcard/ path, so it won't run. It also continually gives the "failed to updated device info" message. So, not sure what is needed to make it see the "/sdcard/" path contents.
