Eyup,
This is not my fix, I found it here all credit to Nuno Luz of MSMVPs.com - who in turn found it from "Chris de Herrera" here. (That's as far as I traced the credits )
Basically in Active Sync 4.* Microsoft removed the ability to Sync with 2 Exchange Servers.
I tested this fix on my phone with the following setup:
Active Sync via USB with Work's Exchange (no E-Mail)
Active Sync via USB to Home Outlook (no E-Mail)
Active Sync OTA to Google Apps Mail (inc. E-Mail)
Changing the following registry setting will allow it to work with 2 servers.
Tweaks (in many formats)
Changing the follow registry DWORD to 1 will enable it:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\EnableNonLocalCrossPollination]
Here's the Prov XML for anyone who's interested to use:
Code:
<!--Enable Multiple Exchange Servers -->
<characteristic type="HKCU\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync">
<parm name="EnableNonLocalCrossPollination" value="1" datatype="integer"/>
</characteristic>
And finally, here's a CAB: Download
P.S. I would recommend soft reset after installation.
EDIT: If I'm not the first to post it on here, then I couldn't find it. Let me know if someone else has, and I'll make this thread disappear .
Thanks,
Dave
awesome stuff, thx
To say it first: Great finding!!!
But i can't get it ...
Do i have to set up one Exchange Server on my PC's ActiveSync and the other on my WinMo's ActiveSync.
Or is there a possibility to add one Exchange Server to my WinMo's ActiveSync?
And if there is one ... how can it be done?

I set mine up by syncing with my Work's active sync via USB, and then launching Active Sync on the Phone and doing "Menu" > "Configure Server".

You say you can sync email with multiple exchange servers with this?
I can't find any way to setup the second exchange account when you already have an exchange account setup.
I do not want to sync through USB, I want it to be possible through 3G / WiFi for both.
What I want is to sync 2 email boxes on 1 Exchange Server. Basically my own email box and an info box. This can also be done of course by just adding the same server twice, just with different credentials. However I can't find a way to setup a second exchange server when you already have one set.
You sync email with only 1 account. Syncing different items with more than one PC / Server was already possible without this fix.
-edit- I'm not sure if it is coincidence or not, but syncing exchange through 3G stopped working after applying the CAB file, syncing through WiFi on same network did still work. After undoing it and soft reset it worked again...

No he is not saying this. He only said email at the last item of Google Apps Mail.
This only lets you sync multiple non-mail items with different Exchange servers. Once you pick email, it locks out the Exchange choice again.
PS: I really do need a way to sync two exchange email accounts.

As do I, guess we'll have to wait for WP7
I just set up two exchange accounts and then tried RapiConfig to get settings.
Got error: Config failed <0x85070006>
Anyone have some of the settings information from
Code:

<characteristic-query type="Sync" recursive="true"/>

Can't really get it working.

If the last thing your are trying to do is set up exchange email, try going into mail acount instead of activesync. Do not let it try connecting and instead select type as exchange.

What I have been to figure out myself so far is anything that can be synce'd with an Exchange Server can be done with multiple accounts, except email. As soon as you set up an Exchange email account, your phone removes the ability to set any more Exchange accounts.
Hopefully someone figures out a way around it as I too have two different work email accounts I want pushed to my phone.

So here we go.
1st thing to know is ... as already mentioned (also by RoryB)
Only one (1) email-account can be synced by ActiveSync.
How i did it:
1. Start ActiveSync on the PPC
2. Configure Server
3. Configure Options
4. Chosed Calendar and Contacts
5. Synced via ActiveSync OTA
6. Closed ActiveSync
7. Tap on Start and open EMail
8. Tap on Create new Account
9. Choose Microsoft Exchange
10. Follow the step on the screen but make sure to set up the Account manually.
11. Sync via ActiveSync OTA
12. Finish
So my result is:
1st ExchangeServer
- Calendar
- Contacts
2nd ExchangeServer
- EMail
Sorry for not delivering Screenshots or beeing more detailed.
Hope this helps.

Thank you, that answers my question.
My issues is still wanting to sync a personal calendar from Google and my work one from Exchange without them mixing. I like the idea from NuevaSync to use categories but it is still a half solution since I'm not sure I can accept work meeting requests on the phone and have them go to the correct calendar.
Thanks again for the information.

I hate to burst your bubble, but you really didn't do what you think you did. You can do EXACTLY what you did without ever installing your CAB or making any registry changes or using any special ROM's. You didn't enable mulitple Exchange accounts, you enabled the ability to transfer data ACROSS more then one Exchange account.
That being said, it's still pointless because you still can't enable more then one ActiveSync type for each of a maximum of 4 accounts (email, contacts, calendar, tasks). Crosspollination (which should have told you something to start with) was apart of the DESKTOP Outlook experience that DOES allow you to configure more then one Exchange account. With it enabled, allows you to cross-sync information between 2 different Exchange accounts, such as contacts. It gets to be really messy, and is the driving force behind why Microsoft only allows one full Exchange sync per option.
Here's the real deal:
- You can have a maximum of 4..that's FOUR Exchange accounts.
- You can only use each of the 4 options ONE TIME (email, contacts, calendar, tasks). That means if you use calendard and contacts in one, like I do for Nuevasync, then you will be able to do a maximum of 3.
- You have to setup email LAST. Setting up your first Exchange email account disables the ability to add more Exchange servers.
- If you do this, you will not be able to successfully connect/sync with PC's ActiveSync software on your PC. You'll get an error.
So, bottom line, this has been covered a million times already, and the supposed fix has been driven into the wall.
Thanks

Your above instructions worked great for me. I am now syncing my Google Calendar and Contacts via a Nuevasync server (Exchange Server 1) while syncing my work email and calendar with my work exchange server (Exchange Server 2). Sweet! Kind of weird but I had cross pollination of my Google Cal events in my Outlook calendar (which is actually what I would prefer) and my work cal gets synced with my Google default calendar (which is preferred too). I was looking for a solution as CalGoo Sync is no longer supported which I was using to push/sync my work cal with Google Cal. Woo Hoo!

Not sure if this is an AP5 issue or wether its a windows live or outlook problem but but I can`t seem to add an email account
I hit new account. fill in my email address and password (its a hotmail.co.uk account) then hit the next button. It says "Auto setup founds setting for: hotmail.co.uk To complete setup and download email click next. It launches Opera and tells me all about the benifits of using email on my phone. there is a "try it out" button which opens a text box to add a mobile number but this must be a USA format number as its XXX XXX XXXX.
Tried various formats and never recieved any setting via text message.
Go back to Windows live and there is no new account added
Any ideas people?
No one else having this problem or know how I can cure it?

This will always happen to the email account that you register to the microsoft live website. It won't happen to the normal email account. You will see that account within windows live only, I think.
Have you tried the manual set up instead of hitting the autosetup button?
I'm not getting an option to setup manually though.
I goto add new account and i have two boxes. Email & password.
it then say hit next to auto setup
err....you don't set up hotmail accounts through the mail application.
Go into the Windows Live application and sign in using that, and Bingo.....Your hotmail account appears in the mail application.
Of course if you have a network branded device without Windows Live installed.....I guess you'd need to find that and install that first.....
Google Sync is a free service that allows you to sync your contacts, email and calendar with your gmail account.
It is a two-way sync, meaning that if you add an appointment or contact to your phone, it will upload to Google's cloud and update your gmail information as well.
I use Google Sync to keep my contacts in the cloud, vs using myPhone since I have multiple phones but only one Windows Live account. If you have ever synced two phones to myPhone under one account, you'll see right away why this is a bad thing.
One of my favorite benefits from using Google Sync is the fact that it not only stores my phone contacts, it also stores their facebook links and contact pictures as well. This means that I can freely flash another ROM without worrying about backing up all of my contacts to SIM or myPhone and then manually updating all of the information for them.
The best part of Google Sync has to be the push email service. As emails arrive (assuming you have set the account up correctly), they will be pushed to your phone via ActiveSync. You don't have to be at your computer for this, it's done over the air.
The only think Google Sync can't do is sync Tasks. If you choose Tasks during the setup, you will receive a cryptic error.
Now that I've told you about the benefits of Google Sync, let's go over how to use it. This assumes you have an existing gmail account. I don't know how to sync with Google without a gmail account, sorry.
I always add my hotmail account first. For some strange reason you can never go back and edit the settings for the first mail account you setup on Windows Mobile, so I use my hotmail account for this.
Steps:
Select your Mail tab and hit the Menu button
Choose "Add Account"
Under "Choose a Mail Provider", select "Outlook" (Don't select Gmail!)
Put your entire gmail address ([email protected]) in the "Email address" box, followed by your password.
Select "Next"
Under "User name" put your email address ([email protected]) again.
The Password field should be filled in, if not just put it in again.
Scroll down.
Leave "Domain" blank.
Scroll down.
Leave "Save password" checked.
Under "Server address" put m.google.com
Leave "This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection" checked.
Select "Next"
If all options are selected, deselect Tasks (Very Important!)
If not, select Mail, Contacts, Calendar
Hit Advanced Settings
Peak time and Non-peak time (I have "As items arrive" on both here) sets how often your emails are pushed to your phone.
I have nationwide coverage, so I also select "Sync data when roaming".
Hit "Done"
Hit "Done" again.
The phone will now connect to the Google Sync server and begin updating your contacts, calendar appointments and email. This may take a few minutes, depending on the number of contacts and such. If you have any unread messages in your gmail inbox, they should now appear on your phone in short order. You may choose "Send/Receive" from the mail Menu if you think it is taking too long.
You will now be able to receive your email sent to your gmail account as soon as it arrives. I have also forwarded my email from my other accounts to my gmail account, but this may be too much for you.
I would not recommend this to anyone who does not have the "Smart Phone" plan (so-called "Unlimited Data Plan"), as it will eat up your bandwith quickly. It may also have a detrimental effect on your battery, due to the fact that it requires a constant data and Active Sync connection to work properly.
If you are concerned about your battery, you can try changing the Peak and Non-peak options under "Advanced" to longer intervals. If it makes a big difference in the life of your battery, I would love to hear about it here!
You can view the original Google Sync video and tutorial links here:
http://www.google.com/mobile/sync/
Hopefully this will be of use to someone out there! Please let me know if you use Google Sync or if you have trouble following my directions.
---Issue With Labels/Folders---
If you have set gmail to tag messages with labels as they come in, you may not be able to read the messages on your phone. XDA-DEV user pantyshot has managed a workaround and posted it here. Be sure to thank pantyshot for the fix if you find it handy!
Also, newer versions of Outlook Mobile (any available as a cab install so that people don't have to use a custom rom?) support sorting messages by subject. Pretty darn close to the threaded messages in the orgasmic Android Gmail app.
I've been doing this since I got the phone, but it is nice to see someone write up the details.
Nice thx man. I didnt even know this was possible on WM coming from a Nexus. I synced my phonebook with MS outlook but nice to know this is possible.
This should be a sticky!!!
Thanks... nice sticky note.
On Friday, I bought an HD2 to replace my Nexus One (which I gave to my daughter). The N1 & Android are just fine but I wanted to play with the HD2 and WinMo. Not too worried about the lack of support for WinMo 7 as I am certain that we will find versions we can use thanks to XDA.
Ok, back on-topic... I was using Google Sync to get my messages from Gmail to my Nexus One. I now know how to do this with WinMo 6.5. I will address this when I get back home as I am on a business trip in Amman, Jordan and I don't want to rake-up astronomical data roaming charges while over here.
this is helpful for newbies/ beginners..
Anyway I had done set up the gmail as "PRIMARY" account only when i got HD2. why i need hotmail set up as primary account then add gmail? I just curious..
I've been using this method as well, but has anyone noticed that you cannot sync your labels from gmail? Is it just me or Outlook just syncs the inbox aside from contacts and calendar?
The only glitch I have seen with using google sync is that when you import your contacts from google, they get sorted as Last Name, First Name. (Doe, John.)I have always liked seeing my contact list as first name last name. (John Doe.) If you manually try to switch this in your contact list, it gets over written once google syncs again. Does anyone know how to possibly fix this?
This method is GREAT. Big thanks to OP

I'm not sure why, but whenever you add a new email account to Windows Mobile and attempt to go back and edit it, the first account you added will always be grayed out. This means you can't modify, or even delete the first account.
Since you may decide you want to change how often you check your gmail, I thought you might want to add a hotmail account (Windows Live) first, since those settings are automatic and can't be changed anyway.
I've always had to do a hardreset in the past to get rid of bad gmail settings, so I learned to always put hotmail first.
Hope that helps

I know, this is annoying. I have added two new contacts and both of them were sorted like this.
You can try deleting the "Last Name" field in your phone contacts, then add the last name beside the first name, but I haven't actually tried that.

When I used the official Gmail App, it represented labels as folders. Because Google doesn't actually have different folders (just different flags for each message), I don't know of any way to split the messages by folder.
As a matter of fact, I don't think you can do this with regular folders via Outlook, due to the way the built-in email client works.
If anyone knows a fix to this please post; we would all like to separate our messages by folders if possible!

You can try this app I have called Contact Changer. Just install to phone, hit the change button and soft reset. After that they should display correctly, and it's actually WinMo that displays contacts like that b/c I have mine sync'd through Microsoft Myphone (b/c gmail messes up the contact pics) and they display the same way.
Now once you run the app, if you add a contact or delete a contact it will revert to last name first. Just run the Contact Changer and reboot again and you will be golden.

Funny you mention that.
I actually used the built-in option to link my favorite contacts to their respective facebook account in my friends list. This changed the contact picture from the camera image I had to their facebook avatar. When next I flashed my phone, Google loaded the contacts back with the facebook linke and facebook avatar, which was very surprising to me.
Does myPhone do the same thing if you use them to keep track of your contacts?

Not sure what you posted this link in reference to. Unless you are confusing Google Sync with ActiveSync...
ActiveSync is the method of connecting your phone directly to your PC, for file transfers, updating your ROM image and standard backups. It is also the name of the protocol that the Microsoft Exchange Servers use to sync data between the Server and ActiveSync-enabled devices.
Google Sync is a free Microsoft Exchange Server that allows "push" email via your phone's data connection. You don't have to be near a PC to sync your calendar, contacts or gmail.
I think the threaded e-mail conversations are only available in the WM 6.5.x versions of WinMo. I am also unable to sync my other folders (Sent, Saved) from Gmail. I have them checked off as well in the Manage Folders option, but nothing appears in these folders after syncing. I think the only possible folder to sync is Inbox.

Are you sure they are actually folders? I thought gmail only has labels that appear as folders in the native clients.
Also, this is the same as most Outlook syncs; it will only give you the unread messages. There may be a setting in gmail that will allow you to retrieve old messages, but I'm not sure why you would want to do that on a mobile phone.
If you want to just get your emails, you can use the "Gmail" option when setting up your new email account on the HD2. This won't "push" like the "Outlook" option will, but you can still set it to manually check as often as every 5 minutes if you can spare the battery life.
Of course, you would be much better off getting the official gmail client for that, since that will also support your lables-as-folders option.
Myself, I prefer to use Google Sync and let that push emails to my phone as well as syncing all of my gmail and phone contacts. I don't use labels any more and don't want all the "Sent" or "Archived" messages to clutter up my phone.
Yea, you're probably right about the labeling/folder issue. I just want to see a saved e-mail to look some thing up at times, but maybe I'll just log onto gmail.com for that on my phone. Is there any Gmail client available for WinMo phones? I haven't seen any. Also, does push kill battery life? (ex. sync every 5 minutes) Or is it a more sophisticated syncing method that will only connect to data when new messages arrive?
usually, when i connect via ActiveSync my Yahoo email would download

You have push mail set on exchange server defined under ActiveSync?
If so, I recall having similar problems with m.google.com few months ago, the reason being that Activesync would no longer autostart. What helped in my case was simple removing the connection and then setting it again from the start. Not sure if you suffer from the same AS dementia, but maybe give it a try.

from what I've checked yahoo does not provide push service for Windows Mobile - so my initial guesss might have been wrong - but it can be done anyway, in two ways:
- link your yahoo account to gmail account, then configure gmail push
- use sth called seven recommended in this thread
For those of you who aren't entirely committed to one email service like myself (Gmail is great also) or just need to maintain that Hotmail address you've had forever, here you go...
SDXversion of this thread
You can now setup Hotmail/Live/MSN Mail for push notifications and folder/calendar/contact sync using the Exchange Active Sync (EAS) Service and it works with stock "Email" Client. There is a dedicated Hotmail app for android, but I want all my Email in one place, and K9 Mail doesn't support EAS 2010 WebDav, which appears to be what the hotmail server is using. Not sure about Gmail app.
(7-1-13) Thanks to amardeshbd and WinuxUser for pointing out the details for the recent 2-step authentication changes -----------

Two-step authentication has to be disabled before adding outlook/hotmail account.
For the people who have 2-step authentication enabled, your credentials will not work. make sure you disable and try again

How to setup Hotmail on Android Phones http://windowslivehelp.com/solution.aspx?solutionid=f49bdf1f-8bb9-47e4-9633-e3a6ba15e2f8
edit: MS killed the detailed instructions link so that you'd be redirected to the hotmail/seven app, but this still works for now!
Instructions for default mail client
Account settings and their level of support will vary across Android phones. While the steps to configure push email with synced contacts and calendar will vary, we have found these steps to work across a number of phones:
1. Select Email client on phone.
2. Press menu and select Add account
3. Enter full Hotmail address: e.g. ([email protected]) or ([email protected])
4. Enter password
5. Select Manual setup
6. Select Exchange when prompted for “What type of account is this?”
7. Domain/Username, enter full Hotmail address: e.g. ([email protected]).
Note: If the device only says “Domain”, it should be left blank.
If the device says “Username”, then enter the full Hotmail address.
(On some devices, the Domain/Username may be pre-populated incorrectly and should be erased.)
8. Type in password. (may already be filled in)
9. Server name. Enter: m.hotmail.com for server name.
** Alternate Servers reported by others: bay-m.hotmail.com
(Note: this field may be pre-populated incorrectly depending on device, ie outlook.com).
10. Make sure box Use secure connection (SSL) is checked.
11. Select Next
12. Select desired account options for inbox checking frequency, number of days to synchronize, send email by default, notifications and contacts/calendar sync. Select Next.
13. Depending on device you may be prompted for account color and account name (e.g. “Hotmail”)
14. Select Next and your Hotmail is set-up and ready to go!
Yea, I still like MS. Win7 MediaCenter Multi QAM Tuner, Remote Potato & Remote Media Ctr android app rock. Don't hate me for it.

For those of you who aren't entirely committed to one email service like myself (Gmail is great also) or just need to maintain that Hotmail address you've had forever, here you go...

I meant @outlook.com mailbox.
I've tried to manually set "server" to "m.outlook.com", but it said "failed to connect". Then tried to change to "m.hotmail.com" >>> ok to connect, but cannot send email.
Also, di you know any free exchange server which supports SMS synchronisation?
Thanks!

The outlook .com service is brand new so I'm not sure about it. I would expect that it would use the same m.hotmail.com server and that the rest would be a settings issue but I could be wrong. Haven't seen enough info about it. I copied the settings in the op from Microsoft's site before the killed the link on how to do it. They want you to use their hotmail app which is poor.
As far as exchange SMS, I haven't heard of exchange being used for that let alone a free server.

As I know MS Exchange server 2010 supports SMS sync already. But I've not got a chance to try it yet.
If u find anything out please post back and I will get the op updated.

What do you mean, I also have an outlook.com account and it works, just follow the instructions to the letter and use m.hotmail.com nothing else.
Thanks for the guide man! Shared it on my Facebook, hopefully it will help some people! :good:
Awesome, it Works for me.. Thanks!
I got @outlook.com working, I'll post the details when i come home ^^
I think Microsoft blocked support on Tablets or on some types of devices.
You may need to use the domain of debug-m.hotmail.com instead of m.hotmail.com
I had to use this on my Transformer Prime TF201

Outlook.com works fine for me. I use the same instructions posted here. No deviations.
For a moment I thoght this was Microsoft Outlook client contact synchronization and not the "online" @msn.com, @hotmail.com, @outlook.com, etc accounts.
Anyone has a good -free- suggestion on how to sync Outlook (client/application) contacts & calendar with Android?
Thanks,
Pozi.

I went through some headaches when I switched from my Winmo 6.0 Treo/Outlook/hotmail setup to Android/outlook/hotmail/gmail setup.
There isn't any decent free solution that I found. I did breakdown and buy "CompanionLink" to handle 2 way sync between Outlook & Google's server (contacts, calendar, & tasks) and it works well for that. I'm almost completely on Google services now (I only use hotmail for push email).
If I find a way to seamlessly sync contacts/calendars/tasks between Google/android/Hotmail/Outlook I will be all over it. Using exchange active sync (from the op) & CompanionLink are as close to a solution as I think there will be.
Note: Exchange Active Sync will allow you to sync hotmail calendar/contacts/tasks, but they will be completely separate from the phone/google info (like a separate directory) and not merge/update them together.

Some info i want to share, ITS ONLY MAIL SYNC!
Incomming settings:
POP3 server: pop3.live.com
Port: 995
Security type: SSL/TLS (Accept all certificates)
Outcomming settings:
SMTP server: smtp.live.com
Port: 587
Security type: STARTTLS (Accept all certificates)
If you set up the account as a POP email account, then yes, email (timed interval sync) is all you get without the push option.
If u set it up as listed in the OP (Exchange Active Sync), you get additional features.

The only issue i've found with this is that you can't view your emails in HTML. Can only view them in Plain Text and if you try to change the setting, the box to do so is greyed out and won't allow you to change it. Otherwise everything works great. Anyone have a fix for this?
Hi,
I have a Hotmail account and wandering if there's any way to get my other folders to sync same as inbox? On the stock email app for my Mate 10 pro I can't even add the folders and Gmail lets me add them but can't get them to sync like inbox (have to manually refresh).
Sounds minor but bugs the hell out of me, there must be a way without using a 3rd party app?
Cheers in advance.
Use the Outlook app from the Playstore. It really uses push notifications and not "check every 30 minutes" or something like that.
Hi,
I have 3 hotmails accounts synchronized on the stock app of my mate 10 pro with multiple folders.
You can select the folders you want to synchronize in the stock app (sorry, my phone is set in French): go to the three dots at the bottom of the app - parameters - select your Hotmail account - folders synchronization
Here you can select by folders how you want to sync them.
Hope this helps
PS : automatic push (real time notification) is working without any issue on the stock app.
Hi @freedamdam, thanks for your reply.
I don't have that option, do you definitely use stock email app? I have the normal folder screen on left showing inbox, sent, drafts, recycle bin, etc best t not my personally created folders? The 3 dots takes me into settings but nothing in there re folders.
Also, when you set up your Hotmail did you select Hotmail or use Microsoft exchange or other? Not sure if makes difference? Just don't understand why you can't view your folders!
Thanks
Wayne
Yes, I'm using stock app, no root or whatsoever, as I was also on my P9 with the exact same options for hotmail folders.
But I think you got it,m right, you have to setup your accounts as Microsoft exchange, not Hotmail, so as to get real time push and folders options I believe.
Let us know if this works.
Dam
OK thanks again for reply
Tried adding exchange account in settings but keep getting couldn't connect to server? Tried googling settings for exchange and tried couple but still get same error message.
I'm missing/not doing something obvious here can't for life of me see what!

Thnx for the tip. Added the account as an Exchange and there is the push option.
Any tips on how to set up as exchange? Mine either gets stuck "connecting to server" or "couldn't connect to server", tried using my email as domain, imap-mail.outlook.com as server and 993 as port but can't set it up.
Cheers

Hey,
I don't remember exactly how I did but as far as I can recall, it was rather simple. But in the parameters, here is what I can see :
Server : m.hotmail.com
Port : 443
SSL/TLS
certificate : none
Hope this helps,
Dam
