I have wallaby with windows 2003 SE I think and from time to time phone stuck (wont sync etc) and I have to soft reset it, thats not too often, maybe once-twice a day or so, is that enough reason to change win version on the phone, everything other work fine ?
Can anyone tell me about the upgrade or downgrade (I ve read someones post that SE is buggy and 2003 without SE is ok), I ve read that I should "build" my version and after that put it in windows folder on PPC and run it there, does the windows installation have anything with that ROM flashing or Radio flashing you mention a lot here or its just a windows installation ?
Can I destroy wallaby with windows install ?

Perhaps you should read a little bit more in the forum... ;-)
As Rudgear already told you, flashing the ROM of a device could always kill a device.

I upgraded to PC2003 several times, and my XDA always ended up dying after a few weeks, I now use PC2002 and it works perfectly. Never tried PC2003 SE though, is there much to be gained? At the end of the day a stable XDA missing a few features is much better than a buggy XDA with all the features.

I have bought an HTC T4242+ via the internet from China, and when I received the phone I found WM6.1 loaded in the phone and I have a problem with it as my voice is breaking or not hearable when I do a phone call!!! I asked many people and they told that I have to upgrade the ROM but infact, I found that there is no Boot Loader in the phone and did not know how to do that, as I am new in this, I contacted my supplier who sent me a .rar file and he told me to open it to be UPR file and load it on the TFT card by a TFT card reader, then to press three buttons together, the power, Middle and green buttons until I see bar showing upgrading, then to restart the phone!!! I did all that many times but nothing happend, the bar showed no progress at all, and I still have the same ROM version with the same problems!!!! anybody can help to instruct me to how to upgrade the ROM..................??????????? I will appreciate your help guys

Regarding the topic, beware that the T4242+ is NOT an official HTC product, but seems to be a cloned based on other hardware.
It has a Marvell 624MHz processor, while our regular, official T4242 uses a Qualcomm 7225 @ 528MHz.
Based on the pictures we can see here, the phone IS different, for instance the wheel looks different than the one we have on the T4242 (grip is much larger on the "clone").
The space between the htc logo on the front and the wheel is much bigger than on our T4242.
Even the stylus is not the same...
Therefore, DO NOT try the roms on this forum, as it will most likely result in a brick of your device!!!!
HardSPL will not work either!!!
The hardware is different (at least regarding the processor), so the devices are not compatible!
There are other people in your situation, so you should look here, and after here.
Basicly, the T4242+ and T3232 clones seem to share the same hardware, and may be compatible...

I have succeeded in flashing the ROM I have on my my T4242+ but the point I found that this ROM does not support the Hardware buttons (wheel), so it is useless and I am still looking for an appropriare WM6.5 in english for my clone!! thank you
also success in flashing from 6.1 to 6.5.

I would like to thank all the guys for their efforts in trying to help me, but becuase I am new in this and I have no experience, I still face the problem of how to change the ROM through the USB, as the wheel button is not working in my device cause I previously upgraded the ROM from 6.1 to T4242 6.5 and now would like to upgrade it to T4242+ 6.5, and it has to be through the USB (I tried the TFT Upgrade but it was not showing me the white flash screen), I need a detailed instructions on how to do it step by step, I will be highly appreciated if someone will help me, I need to know where to download the VISTARUU and what exactly to do, as I feel that I am lost in this!!!!

I found this rom for the t4242+ from a chinese forum. Its a 21734 build and has integrated manila 2d(build 1818.3719). All buttons are working including wheel. Footprints tab does not work(for now)

I can extract the rom then edit the SYS and OEM language files
I put boot registry files (wich are included in the language files i posted) in ROM/XIP
Repack into new rom doesnt give any errors if i rename boot_ms.rgu to boot.rgu
But the rom wont load on my phone. cant get past the first screen. Is it cause i dont have the right boot files?
Ive tried extracting the boot files from other roms with no success.
Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

...it's not a ROM issue, it seems to be a hardware problem, since it's a clone.
I have bought a similar one, upgraded ROM, but still the voice quality in phone calls is below average.
I just changed the device to an oriignal HTC, it helped.

a) You are using a clone instead of the real thing.
b) You are asking if you can run Android on a system that has a completley different internal hardware then what its imitating, therefore all the drivers that the android builds use will be different.
Im a n00b when it comes to development etc but even im aware of this.
The only thing similar about these devices is the "look" and the fact they both run Windows mobile. Now Im not saying its impossible to run Android on your system, only that this inst the place to ask as this is a development forum for the HD2, your phone is 100% NOT a HD2

Please can anyone tell me where to find a good and stable ROM for flashing my HTC Tianxi T9188. My brother brought it back from China and left it with me. Unfortunately, I dont understand the Chinese language it came with and need to flash in an English ROM to be able to use the phone.
Its a shame that I have such a nice phone but cant use it due to the language issue.

HTC Tianxi is the China only released version of the HD2. Some differences - CPU, RAM and TD-SCDMA. To me this seems a slightly lower spec'd phone than the HD2.
Check out pdadb.net - run pdacomparer. Doubt there would be any other language version's. At your own risk you could try some HD2 - built roms or ICS Andriod roms.
Thats the problem tx. I was hoping I culd get an English ROM for the HTC Tianxi T9188 and not have to experiment with the HD2 ROMs, considering that both phones have different hardwares. Thats the risk I dont wanna take cos of the possibility of bricking the phone. I did come across an Android ROM though but I can see CHS in the name of the ROM which tells me that it is still a Chinese ROM all the same.
Another problem I am facing is flashing the HardSPL for the Tianxi. It us using SPL 1.27.0000 and I cant find a hardspl flasher which is compatible with it. I have searched here and in other forums and Google and any other place you can think of, still nothing. Have tried the ones I have seen online and always met an error. Any help here will be most appreciated.

If you have SD Card try loading (SD version) in the root and (MAGLDR) boot etc. If that works then it may take NAND versions.
Other than experiment, sorry cant be of more help.
I have tried all the hardspl flashers I can find in the thread you gave ... from HSPL to HSPL4. Non of them could work for the Tianxi. All gave the same BAD ID error and wont flash the HardSPL.
Please help me anyone ... I am getting frustrated by this

Usually, kernels differ from device to device. For example say, this Acer phone the kernel was made for, might just be compatible with your phone... and if that happens. Congo! You have just got your passport to heaven. But, if that is not the case, that is if you phone is incompatible, then you need to do a LOT of hacking to get things working properly.

Well, the basic functionality lies in the mediatek/config and mediatek/custom folders. Take a look at the configs. Compare that to features available to your phone. Use a apps or disassemble your phone to find the model number of sensors and compontents like the LCD and stuff. This will help you to get the configuration right. Getting the configuration right will result in the perfect kernel build.
