I thought I'd post this really quick, because i've been seeing a ton of people asking about this.
We have an IRC Server set up for developers. irc.thefuzz4.net provided by jcase, thefuzz4, and (soon) myself. To connect, you can either visit http://chat.zifnab06.net (in the works right now), or connect with an IRC client. I'd recommend xchat.
If you have something to add, feel free to join us in #DroidEris and #dev. More rooms can be added if there is a need.
Thanks, and enjoy!
ps - could someone sticky this? Thanks!

As far as I've been aware... there is no IRC chatroom for XDA-Devs, therefore, I've created a channel on freenode if anyone would care to join;
the server is irc.freenode.net and the channel is #xda-devs
if you have an integrated IRC Client, this link should work;
irc://irc.freenode.net:6667/#xda-devs
awesome work olipro!
*bumping it up... just to remind folks we're here*
just tried connecting to the channel and its not letting me in...
revised the link... try now, if it fails, do it manually

don't worry about identd, personally, I'd recommend you use X-Chat rather than mIRC since X-Chat is totally free;
http://xchat-win32.berlios.de
enable the identd server in the mirc settings.
alt + O > connect > identd
Just bumping the post up, I'm in the IRC now... so if you have issues with the ROM Kitchen, it'd be brilliant if you could pop in (or just idle if you have nothing to say currently)
This should be made sticky.. I think an IRC channel would really helpful - senior members could give quick answers to simple questions or directing newcomers to the appropriate wiki pages...
and of course it would be an excellent place to discuss about our beloved devices
What do yu think admin/mods??
Oli... add some AOps...
Oh irc brings back some memories.... sigh....
cool finally an irc channel!!
i also found this while browsing around... its a web based client so if you are at work and they block irc, etc.. here is a good work around
http://www.ircatwork.com
http://irc.kanotix.net/cgi-bin/cgiirc/irc.cgi
use this, then, when you're connected do;
/part #kanotix
/quote join #xda-devs
Just saying hello from ppcgeeks. Feel free to stop by our irc channel any time too. There is usually someone there. Server=irc.icq.net and Channel = #ppcgeeks. Or, you can do the web based version here: http://www.ppcgeeks.com/chat.html
Having irc is a great too in helping people deal with these phones. Expecially helping noobs who do not know how to ask the proper question to get the information they need from a forum.
No one ever seem to be in

Since the channel is 100% dead, maybe this shouldn't be a sticky?
Hello everyone,
I was hoping that xda members may be able to help me in an experiment. I work for a company that develop workflow applications and we have one (SocialView) that is built for Social Media. http://kc-ol.com/socialmedia.php
I am trying to gage how the number of followers effects influencer ratings in a number of tools and how effective they are at recognising trends.
If you would like to help me, your part is simple. There are several ways;
1) Follow me on Twitter @SociallySteve. I will of course follow you back.
2) you can further help by Posting a Tweet including my name (@SociallySteve) and the word "SocialView"
This is really going to help me gage which tools work when monitoring SM Interactions going forward.
Sorry for the off topic message and thank you to everyone who can help. it is greatly appreciated.
https://twitter.com/SociallySteve <=== Link to my Twitter
Please let me know if you do this by messaging here and allow me to thank you for your time
Another telegram group ? why ? we don't need more groups !
- the purpose of this group is different. this group is for trying experimental stuff on your op2.
ok, i understood. what things are currently going on ?
- a recovery package to restore the op2 to 100% stock (with stock recovery and tamper bit reset)
- debloating oxygenos (way slimmer than what any slim rom could manage)
if you want to add something to the above list start a secret chat (i will ignore normal ones) and suggest and i or one of the others will try to make it possible
enough talking. what are the risks ?
- my friend, here they are
you could brick your device beyond repair ! (though this should not happen unless you have an hw problem)
here is the disclaimer
" i am not responsible for dead sdcards, thermonuclear war or you getting fired because the alarm app failed (this actually happened to a guy)
i am not responsible if your device picks up a katana and kills your pet !
i am not responsible if you break your computer, be it a pc/laptop/desktop/another phone/whatever regardless of the os running on it/even hw damage (tbh i don't really know how you would manage to do that)
i am not responsible if your phone becomes a hipster and claims to have been modified before it was cool
if you point the finger at me/the admins/members for messing up your device. i will laugh at you and you'll be removed from the group. (if this happens, you are free to pm me and i'll do my best to unbrick but no guarantees)"
ok. what are the rules
slight ot is allowed
profanity is NOT allowed
religious fights are not allowed. admins ourselves are atheists. we dont support this.
don't say you're scared and won't try it (after all, why did you join this group in the first place then ?)
all right ! i am a risk taker from earth and i want to join. what do i do ? (no astronauts please)
pm anupritaisno1 via secret chat only ! (i will disregard normal ones)
join via invite link .......
official channel .......
all right. but one last question. who are the admins ?
they are :- anupritaisno1
indest
naman bhalla
shibli aftab (he isn't a member currently but i make him an admin whenever he joins......and leaves)

Man why do you do all things secretly? If you want to do this or require testers, post here and talk.. even in telegram you need secret chats? What's the use of the open ness of XDA then?
XDA is not a place to promote social stuffs. If you have some discussions, keep it here on XDA.There are like 5-6 threads now, with the same stuff!:banghead:

One of the people here requested to add them
Then, some fool pressed the telegram report button accidentally/deliberately
Now, I am blocked from normal chat for a week
That is why, secret chat
And, I need to remind them that this is a test. When they join the group, I make it a point to tell them that they're doing this at their own risk. I don't want to be blamed by anyone because they did not read the disclaimer

Read the post above your's!XDA doesn't encourage social media promotions. If you have some device related discussions, you can have it here. That's what XDA is intended for.
I've seen like 5-6 threads with the same post or some social media links.I had made a Telegram group initially for the OP2 discussion. That's when the device was released and there wasn't much activity here on XDA.Now I've removed the links and no longer posting about it.
Now we have an active community here and no longer needs any private/social media for discussion.Try to keep all discussions here and make sure you know what XDA is all about! :good:

Hello XDA,
Today, I come to you with a brand new Discord Server that I have prepared for our device! Follow the URL below to join:
MOD EDIT: LINK DELETED
Discord is a Community Service, mostly meant for Gamers, but still would benefit greatly the modding community of our device. This is not an attempt to replace XDA or the MIUI Forums, instead it's meant to be a place where everyone is united and easily accessible. So why Discord you ask?
1) It offers a speed that Forums can't provide. Whether you're stuck in a difficult situation and trying to get your device unbricked or want to chat with someone, Discord is instant messaging at your fingerprints.
2) It offers Voice Chat. This way, members can quickly talk to someone with more experience and won't be limited by having to type everything out.
3) It's easier to moderate. There are plenty of options to moderate the server and ensure that all is running well.
4) It makes it easy to stay up to date. Developers can be provided with a Developer rank that allows them to tag everyone and inform them about their new ROM, Kernel etc, benefiting both the developers and the users!
Some of the cool stuff that the Discord offers:
- Special Ranks that showcase what ROM you are running.
- Many subjects to discuss, and even places to share your creations.
- Special perks for developers, such as developer only channels.
I should make it clear that THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE XDA TEAM. This is not an official server but instead it's fan-made. XDA has not been involved in the creation process or moderation of this Discord Server.
I hope to see you all on the server!
- chrismin13

Sorry! Please check the link again, I fixed it.
Here it is: https://discord.gg/QGkWrdH
I would like to thank everyone for joining, it's been great so far! We already have over 20 members, and more are joining every day.
Thank you all!
Hi,
I recently created Discord server for all of you (mi 9t/pro fans) to discuss about news but in faster way.
There will be roles which tells you who is developer, who is rooted and more! It's up to you which roles do you want.
There is also troubleshooting text channel where you can discuss your problems with this device, with other people.
I made this server because i'm annoyed to wait until someone response and i think this will be useful when someone, for example, will brick the device and have no idea what to do with it.
You can join server here: Mod Edit: Link Removed
PS: If this is against the rules, i will remove it asap
