Have you checked that your Gene is old or new if not then check Here after that go Here.
I did the same way and no problem with 6.5
you can install WM 6.5
Depending on you old/new gene version u need to flash your SPL version.....
then install any rom that supports your gene...
u did the unlock ur spl or what......?

plz unlock ur SPL first......then & then only flash ur gene......once u put the wrong rom the only method can help u is JTAG......plz read the 4th thread carefully......

SPL 1.10 olip
BUT AS I cHANGED SPL TO 1.07 OREF , by SD CARD METHOD ,IT IS STUCK AT TRICOLOUR SHOWING

I AM UNABLE TO FLASH ANY ROM SHOWING ERROR (300) INVALID UDATE TOOL
THE UPDATE UTILITY CAN NOT BE USED FOR YOUR PDA PHONE . PLEASE GET NEWER UPDATE UTILITY.

Why did you had the itch to use the orefkov spl? its for new gene only and if olipro spl was working then it means you have an old gene. I dont know why you guys get so experimental that you dont care to read any instrusctions etc. Atleast 50 times it is written on this forum only that downgrading a device's spl or onbl makes it unbootable and you may have to take it to the service center.
I think the only way you can get your phone back is to use the JTag method, or take it to the service center.

Now this is really bad thing. Olipro is a genious so outstanding that you cant even imagine. Have you cared to read half of his posts? He and Orefkov are the ones because of whom we gene users were able to get Wm 6.1 on our mobile.he has done so much for the windows mobile community be it gene or kaiser or any other phone. If you dont have the patience to read threads, its your fault not Olipro's. He has designed the SPL for old gene and he is not responsible if you use it in a wrong phone. Designing an SPL is such a pain in the a** task that you cant even imagine i think. Its a developers forum, not some non-profit public service station where you can get services for free without doing anything. Of course you dont have to pay for most of the stuff, but the cost really comes as the time to read all the stuff here.
So never use that kind of words for people who you dont even know and what they have done for this world. Thats really bad of you man

Who in the world asked you to use the SPL designed to work on a OLD gene on your device...stop using these kinda words on developers who spend a whole lot of time in giving something good for our phones....
Your phone is bricked cos of you and not cos olipro designed something to work on OLD gene....

I tried searching around however i could not see any new ROMS for Gene for windows 6.5. I noticed that all the other phones like Blackstone and Titan have lots of new ROM for windows 6.5 with lot of other verison. i noticed their version have reached upto to v8 for win 6.5.

Other phones are having it faster because the quoted ones by you have bigger stomach (ROM memory) so its a bit simpler to cook this huge giant OS for them. For GENE, the cutting and trimming takes a lot of time. Be thankful that its even running on gene because of developers like Ankit here, otherwise you would never be able to see wm 6.5 on gene.

for some reason RUU fails to update the SPL image, the phone comes to screen with progress bar but then RUU fails and says "plaese use a new update utility"

Don't get mad. Actually its hilarious. In atleast once in 15 days, you will find one guy or the other bricking his or device by wrongly patching.
Come to think of it, I have seen around three or more pple in the last month alone 'updating' the SPL of their old gene to oref (even though there Gene was not complaining with .olip)
I wonder what they would have done when we joined this forum

I have sucessfully upgraded the old gene
GUYS........... I HAVE RECOVERED MY OLD GENE THAT GOT BRICKED WITH orefkov spl ... IT IS DONE AS ... I PUT MY MOBILE IN BOOT LOADER AND THEN DO THE HSPL OF OLIPRO... IT HAS OLIPRO NBH FINE SO IT GOT UPDATED TO 1.20 OLIPRO SPL THEN AGAIN I RESTART THE MOBILE IN BOOT LOADER AND IT SHOWS THE OLIPRO SPL ... AFTER THAT I UPDATED THE ROM USING RUU AND MOBILE GOT WORKED AND NOW I AM HAVING WM 6.1...

if my understanding is right ur spl now is .olip so ur gene is old gene
now if u have flashed a ROM for old gene and its working good flash only rom for old gene and don't try any more tricks
stick to old gene flash old gene ROM and have fun

If you are a speed fanatic like me, you can go for upto 20% of your Core CPU Speed. But do not go beyond that, as it will fry your CPU and drain the battery too. Better use CPU Scalar and set the max speed to 240 MHz and Min speed to 110 MHz (or near about). this gives good speed and performance (balanced).

REMEMBER urs is a old gene before downloading chek if it is for ur Phone and then download i have never ever had any problems with Sumits ROM

all are original shipped rom so chek and flash the right rom for ur gene
the above roms are the oldest one i've ever seen...it says windows mobile 5.0.....lol
and also it change my spl to 1.07.0000 ...tried to update the spl by mtty.exe but shows error on step with "ls.bin".....so i'm stuck with this old rom with portugese language...

do not downgrade to wm5.
apart from wanting to check the original OEM apps out (via dump) to add into custom roms for smoother operation i don't see why people want to flash these roms onto their devices...
why not opt for newer, stable build releases rather than downgrade your device to wm5...(its like buying a brand new laptop with the best available config just to run win95 on it)
and if you've read the stickies in the forum, you'd know that it isn't exactly safe or recommended...so why tempt fate...
