Can anybody help me? i am getting a new simcard tommorow and have a locked X10 so i wont be able to use it
even pay servers i dont mind!!
Orange UK does something special with their locked handsets... they have to... unlocking a rogers x10 is like 5 USD.
I got mine unlocked via a person on this forum, ferraripassion, i think. i would give their website but i don't think i'm allowed. but their website unlocks handsets from another manufacturer - they have the instructions for the xperia x10 on their forum. They charged 40 USD and they were able to do it in a half hour (connect the phone to your computer, they remote into your computer, run software and done)
Before, I had ordered an unlock code from a different website. They were a little cheaper and promised 24-28 hours. BS. 2 weeks later they had nothing. I constantly sent emails, etc. I got fed up and threatened to do a charge back, in spite of their 21 day policy since they obviously weren't doing anything except changing the status manually. The code eventually came in about 4-5 weeks after my order. A waste of my time though.
I just fear that am gonna be stuck with a t-mobile simcard for weeks without a phone to use it on :/ .. shame it was a awsome £7.50 a month deal with them 600 mins unlimited text & unlimited internet ..
wiped the floor with orange but i wont be able to use it unless i sort this blinking thing out first!!!!
mobileincanada dot com worked for me, same day service and unlock worked.

As I know, T-Mobile UK and Orange UK are joined together. Ask T-Mobile UK customer service about that. I think, I saw this sort of questions at the TMO UK customer service forum and that should be free.
By the way the X10 unlocking is actual now again since the unlocking server is down and all those "$40-services" are temporary down too. Look like all of them did their business through Sony Ericsson server and actually didn't have any own know-how. It is possible that actually this server is up long ago, but they cut off the access to this feature or found an employee, who sold access (see levels of EMMA).
Look like I need somebody from T-Mobile UK to order unlock code too (this service is for current customers with street address for receiving paper mail).
Well,
Sort of a noob question, but since I dont know how easy or hard could it be.
If I buy a SGS-II with a service plan in UK (Orange, Voda etc), then can it be unlocked to be used in other countries or other operators.
I know maybe it has got something to do with the gaining the root access to the handset or even a root access achieve the desired.
Thanks for suggestions.

It's got nothing to do with root and everything to do with the carrier, some will deliver locked phones, some unlocked.. most usually contract phones are unlocked and PAYG phones are locked
I'm on O2 contract and the phones I've had have always been unlocked, but I've heard Orange do network lock their phone
Orange do always lock their phones but if you get it from an independent seller like the Carphone Warehouse or Phones4u the chances are it'll be unlocked.
Most networks will unlock your phone for a small fee (I think I paid £25 on Orange) but it's only a matter of time before sellers on eBay popup that will sell you an unlock code based on your IMEI.
You're right that you could unlock handsets with root access but that involved flashing another radio. Since no locked SGS2's have been released yet you're safe buying now and the phone hasn't been rooted so you may be waiting a while for that option if you get a locked handset in the future.
You could always use a Rebel SimCard. Its not the perfect solution but it works.
So we just have to wait basically. O2 are offering it for 399£ apparently on payg. It would be awesome to get it for that price and then unlock it.

Last year, o2 were selling the SGS1 on PAYG. I think the handsets were supposed to be locked but they weren't. If you're in luck then maybe same is true for SGS2. I've pulled the trigger on the SGS2 with contract from o2 as total cost works out cheaper that any PAYG or sim free offer currently available.

Does orange still exist over there?
Three took over Orange over here in Australia years ago
On three if you call them up they give you the unlock code for free
I asked a popular online unlocking firm what the likelihood of the SGS2 being unlocked was and this was his reply:
Hi Aaron,
This should be no problem at all. That's because there's one main database for all European Samsung Android handsets. We have unlocked the Samsung Galaxy S from all 6 main UK networks.

I will ask them to unlock if my SGS2 arrives locked. I found them doing a quick google search. I am not sure I am allowed to post links so mods please remove if that is the case. http://www.mobileunlocked.co.uk/
There are many more if you do a google search.
hi xda developers!
my uncle sent me an xperia x10 which is originally orange locked so i want to unlock it to use here in philippines. i tried to bring it to the technicians and they're charging me lot of cost and i don't even have a visa card or credit card to buy unlock codes or software online...so can you guys please help me to sort this problem out? please
You can't unlock the phone. There is a software mod to unlock but not sure if you can find it. You will have to buy the code/unlock . I don't see anything else
Damn there was a site for this that was free! Only I forgot it... I will try to search for it for you!
thanks so much! will greatly appreciate your help to sort this out...thanks!
i just noticed, where did my other comment go? is there something wrong with my post?
Do you mean sim locked?
yes it is....
hey guys can you please check this out?
it says that it can unlock sony ericsson mobile phones for free but unfortunately i can't also download it here in our country.

is there any other way i can unlock my x10 for free?
Yeah, I think Omnius *used* to have an option to unlock the X10 for free during a promotional period about a year ago for a couple weeks. I'm not sure if they could have done any of the Orange branded X10s.
Unfortunately, Orange is one of the most difficult (and costly) phones to unlock. The absolutely cheapest way for you to unlock it is to call Orange and see if they'll be kind enough to unlock it (I think Orange UK charges 20-25 Pounds or so, unsure of Orange France).
Only other option is to go with one of the remote unlockers. There are a couple companies that can send you a code with your IMEI but expect to wait around 25 days to save a few (and i do mean, few) dollars.

hey
i just started browsing around for you and whenever i got a carrier locked phone i always used IMEI unlock codes
try this http://www.cellunlocker.net/blog/2010/06/how-to-unlock-sony-ericsson-xperia-x10/
thanks for all your response, actually orange uk is charging 20 pounds to unlock it but unfortunately my uncle wasn't able to organize it as it was already sent to me via dhl. i don't know if they will still allow it to be unlocked as it's already here in philippines. I've been trying to browse around the unlockers to get a code or software to unlock it but as what i've seen there are lots of issues like:
on htccode what i saw just now is their system is seem down as per some client's recent posts who are wanting to get their money back.
and some other unlockers offer the code but will have to wait for 5-10 days. i know this is absurd but i have an itchy hand now so i really want to unlock it really quick and use it right away.
anyway thanks to all of you... if i get to unlock this soon i will post it here.
Hi! I'm also looking for the cheapest code, but for now, the winner is mrunlock for 20 pounds... I don't know if I can trust it... Have you find something cheaper???
Hi all!
My friend was bought a Lumia 800 for Christmas, but its locked to Orange and he does not have an Orange sim.
I have had a look on a few sites stating they can unlock it, but 2 have failed to do so so far!
And having to wait a week+ each time to see if its worked is just getting on my tits!
Anyone know of a place I can get an actual working unlock code
Cheers

Check ##782# in the dialer and it will tell you if it's definitely sim locked or not.
Get him to contact Orange and request them to unlock it. Maybe say you're going on holiday somewhere for a month...
This site could unlock it.
As it is early days it is expensive to unlock it due to certain technical restrictions. See this thread for an explanation and more discussion on sim unlocking.
Will check if its locked in a min, but im pretty sure it is.
Will try orange if the current unlocker i have orderd from does not deliver the code today!
I have tried UnlockLiberty.com and currently trying unlockitnow.com!
I expect it to be expensive to be honest but as long as we can actually get it unlocked in the first place would be a start
Cheers matey

Orange can unlock it as long as you know the original mobile number that it came with. It will take upto 30 days and cost £20.42p. So if you can get it done elsewhere it'll be quicker and cheaper.

It's a small circuit board that sits between the SIM and the phone, they generally cost a couple of quid, and somehow do work.

Well i have orderd a GEVEY TURBO SIM adapter to see if it will also work in our Nokia.
They do say for all versions of iPhone, but i cant see why it wont work in the Nokia...
Worth a shot anyway! haha
the reason no one is getting unlock codes from the suppliers mentioned for lumia on orange or tmobile uk is because the lumia is actually locked to a new hybrid orange/tmobile mcc+mnc network.
phones locked to this network are not locked to tmobile or orange, they are actually locked to both networks, try both sims and you will see for yourself, that the phone will take sims from both networks, but not any other.
T-Mobile and Orange UK have merged recently.
They have started locking newer NOKIA handsets to a new MERGED network MNC+MCC
NEW T-Mobile / Orange UK Merge Lock uses MNC+MCC = 2343300190233141
Older Standard Orange UK uses MNC+MCC = 2343300000000000
Older Standard T-Mobile UK uses MNC+MCC = 2343000000000000
*
Known models with hybrid lock
Nokia Lumia 700 locked to UK Orange or UK T-Mobile
Nokia Lumia 710 locked to UK Orange or UK T-Mobile
Nokia Lumia 800 locked to UK Orange or UK T-Mobile
Nokia E7-00 locked to UK Orange or UK T-Mobile
*
What About Other Nokia Models?
There will be more models released soon that will require this service too.*
Remember these are newer Nokia handsets, you wont need it for older models.
*
How to Check if Other Nokia is Locked To This New Network.
There are 2 ways to check orange and tmobile nokia handsets. to see if they are truly locked to the new orange/t-mobile uk network or are actually locked to the standard Orange UK or standard T-Mobile UK networks
*
Method 1.
Try both a t-mobile sim and an orange sim in the nokia phone
if the phone accepts BOTH SIMS = locked to new T-Mobile/Orange hybrid network
if only the orange sim works = locked to Orange UK network
if only the t-mobile sim works = locked to T-Mobile UK network
*
Method 2.
Read phone info using usb cable and this software
(software requires nokia pc suite installed first for drivers, full video guide @ the bottom of this page: http://www.imeicodes.co.uk/instruction/nokia.php)
If it displays config key 2343300190233141 = locked to new T-Mobile/Orange hybrid network*
If it displays config key 2343300000000000 = locked to Orange UK network
If it displays config key 2343000000000000 = locked to T-Mobile UK network
Which begs the question, are there actually any solutions yet? If we can't get unlock codes off Orange nor T-Mobile, as the 800 is locked to both, who do we get the codes off?
Ive tried sim-unlock.net and unlockdata.co.uk with no success. anyone else have other places to order from?
fonefun, thanks for the update on the carrier situation.
Does this mean that the database is only accessable by T-Mobile and Orange at the minute or do unlocking sites have access to the algorithm/codes too?

we have tested around 12 imeis before we put the service live. so yes you will start to see this service on other codes site as our resellers catchup to speed on this very new service.
the service is online already for single code buyers for the tmobile/orange hybrid network locked nokia handsets on the imeicodes website mentioned earlier in this thread. they take about a week to process at the moment. look for the "Special T-Mobile UK / Orange UK Nokia Unlock Codes" service on the prices page
Hi Fonefun,
Got a Lumia 800 from e-bay not sure if Orange or the hybrid network.
I can't seem to get the Nokia BB5 usb utility to read the phone config key. I tried the 2.5 version too.
The lumia doesn't use the nokia suite but Zune. I installed both with no success. I tried on both a Win7 and Win XP machine. The phone is recognised in Zune but not the utility.
Any advice would be welcome.
Jon
all lumia on orange or tmobile are hybrid
you wont be able to read the lock area using that software, because the lumia is different and cant be read by anything at the moment.
we read an e7-00 ok though with it, this is how we discovered the hybrid. after trying 2 sims in the e7-00 we confirmed this was the case.
so we got the lumias and tried orange and tmobile sims in them, and yes both worked, but any other sim did not, so we sumarised that the lumias are also locked to the hybrid network, we got the new hybrid codes for them and unlocked them, we tried on 800 lumia, our sources tell us all lumia are the same lock types for tmobile and orange also.
we put the link on for the code reading software to enable people to check newish handsets too because we simply dont have the handsets to try ourselves, so there may be more...
I've had Sony Z5C on contract from O2 UK years ago and it had "bootloader unlock allowed : no" in the service menu (ruined my life) and just wandering if they have done the same thing with the Xperia 1?
Looking to buy this device or maybe the 2, so if anyone has picked it up already on contract from O2 could you please check this for me.
Many thanks in advance.

It's the main reason I never bought from O2 for a long time. I learnt the hard way with the Xperia S back in the day!
Anyway, nowadays, O2 only sell their phones unlocked on their Pay Monthly contracts (not sure about PAYG). Regardless, I can confirm that my Xperia 1 bought directly from O2 is unlocked, and the bootloader can also be unlocked.
Hope that helps.

I'll still be flashing to UK generic firmware once it is available!

Thanks for helping me out. I now know I'm most likely going to be safe getting a Sony device from them again! How are you enjoying the 1? Looks a great shape for one handed use. I'm going to wait until the size of the 2 is confirmed, I'm really hoping it's the same width just with a less elongated screen, that will be perfect imo

It's a nice handset, however suffering from a few performance issues at the mo. Hopefully it should be sorted with a software update, but noticing the odd micro-stutter here and there.
Still getting used to the form factor, as it can be tricky to use in one handed mode - not so much for the width, but for the length. It can feel like the handset will topple i.e. being a bit top-heavy, which is due to how long it is. Probably will get used to it. Will be interesting to see how the Xperia 2 moves things forward...

That sounds annoying, I've currently got a 2.5 year old OnePlus 5T that I've dirty flashed over 20 beta updates without ever doing a wipe and it's still absolutely flawless performance with 4-6 hrs sot everyday and a ridiculous amount of apps installed, the only micro stutter I've ever seen since I've had it is in a 3rd party app, bit of a lag swiping away a tab from the recents in kiwi browser and that's it. Hopefully it gets sorted for you in an update soon.
I'll go into a store and hold the Xperia 1 and 2 when it's released, I only want a new phone because I have a slight crack in the screen of my 5T so in no major rush right now I don't wanna regret what I buy.
I would have bought the OnePlus 7 pro but the size is just stupid IMO and if I bought the normal 7 I'd just feel cheated I was missing out on the things the 7 has.
Thanks for your help with this and if you don't mind when the Xperia 2 comes out and I go phone shopping I may drop you a pm to see if any updates have sorted the performance issues for you.
Sure - no worries at all!

I know its been a while from this post. I just pre-ordered Xperia 1 II from O2 using a relative account (I live in the US and relative will mail me the phone once received). Paid full price of the phone up front and plan is month to month (postpaid not prepaid). Do you know if the phone will be unlocked out of the box? or an O2 sim needs to be inserted first time? O2 website says all their phone shipped after 2019 are unlocked but wasn't sure if an O2 sim need to be used firs time you turn it on. That's how it was for some Samsung unlocked phones 2 years ago. Would appreciate your response
No need to insert an O2 sim. I inserted a Three network SIM straight away and it worked fine. I don't believe anything has changed in the intervening year.
