Unfortunately my Eris running leak 2.1 broke and I am currently waiting for my replacement. I can't wait to get cooking and I have been curious as to what kitchen the chefs here are using. I have been messing around with dsixda's kitchen but of course I haven't been able to test any ROMs yet.
I have lots of Winmo cooking experience but little Android/Linux experience so I would like to test a number of kitchens to see which works best for me.
What works best for you?
Only kitchen I know of is dx's. The devs probably have their own kitchen or custom setup for cooking.

Hello everyone, I plan to bring the Stock ROM 2.2 of HTC Legend on our LG Optimus ONE, the ROM in question is this:
http://forum.xda-evelopers.com/showthread.php?t=866849
But I need assistance, advice and suggestions.
I appeal particularly to "racht", user who brought the Sense on SE Xperia X8.
Thanks
Hmmmmmm , why ....?
Because,it is very in demand from the users, and I like it a lot.
Not only for her beauty, but also for the personalization brought by HTC.
Please helped me.
No u can just try and port the theme alone?
Who are those , oh so many users ? I swear to god , this is the first time I see a thread for such a request for P500 . I mean , if it was 2 months ago I would understand , but now when Gingerbread development is rocking ahead and also we have an estimate ETA for official Ginger , why would anyone want a crummy ROM from a HTC which would take a lot of time to port .
As CC said just get a theme with SENSE like look , I think there was one using Launcher PRO that appeared this week . Just search for it and then patiently wait for gingerbread awesomeness
Please inform if you are going to develop or are just asking to.
Has i will move the thread if this is only a ask.
Cheers
I' m going to develop.
@remix96
I would surely be interested in such a port
+1 for it.....
from what I read in other parts of the forum, you cannot easily port a Sense rom because something about lacking the rosie framework
not 100%right/accurate just what I remember reading
+1 i love sense

How about an AOSP Froyo or Gingerbread? If I had a fast internet connection I'd gladly help/spearhead. Last time I attempted, I got shocked at how huge a package of files I was downloading with git xD
Hey I looked around on Google and here and couldn't find a naice all in one guide on creating your own ROM/ROM Development.
I'm very new to all this but want to learn more about it and maybe see if I can throw my own personal twist to my phone.
Many Thanks!

ubuntu is not at all necessary cause its mostly meant for kernels and btw if u wish to become a developer first learn themeing and thn proceed to ROM makin.... wen u hav excelled in theming its easy to make ROM's....
Ok I'm trying to get as basic as possible. Learning from the ground up. Ill start with themes first untilled I got that down. Thanks for the advice.
Any good links you could recommend?

Basics are XML editing and image editing with Photoshop and the tool to make .9.pangs from the ask. That is for the basic themes. Not hard but not easy either
OK I have stared messing around with web design to get familiar with some code. Now I'm thinking app development would be a good first step into the android firmware. (Hope I'm using that right)
If you have suggestions were to get started let me know but I'm sure to find everything I need to know on Google. Thanks again.

Ok so I've started doing research in XML format and its not much different from HTML so I feel pretty confident that a can for sure write the code structure properly. The only thing I'm missing is how to take it from a web browsers standpoint to the android platform. Is this all found in the Google developers kit or an outside source?
And on different note what XML editor do you use?

So I've always wondered how to cook a kernel, if that is even what you call it. I'm definately not new to any of this though. I just don't know if you have to build kernels or if port them or what. I want to build a sense kernel for ICS, or more so help get one built. I know a couple devs only phone who would all be willing to help I just don't know what I'm doing and want to learn

anyone? i really want to learn and ive been all over google all night
Hi, We are finally getting to the point where we can start to push out some new kernels for the Atrix 2 (sort of got the bootloader bypassed). I was hoping someone could give me some good resources for getting started with kernel development. I am very computer knowledgeable, and I know a fair amount of c++ and java, but I still cannot find very many good online guides to getting into this stuff. I am very serious about learning, but we all have to start somewhere, so it would be great if someone could get me off in the right direction.
There's a great post in here with all the necessary tool chains, also RootzWiki is a great forum for kernel and aosp building

I worked on a kernel for the evo4g. Here is the source. At the time there were a few different setups of roms. I created a script to build 12 different variants. All flashable via recovery. If you are interested I could walk ya through the script or make the edits needed for your kernel source. Least until you fully understand the process.

hey guys
if you want ics ports for eris, let me know. i can have ParanoidAndroid, MIUI 4.0.4, CM9 and AOKP for you guys very quickly, actually the roms are already done just need testers.
But if nobody is interested or around to use them, i wont spend the time bringing them and supporting them.
weigh in on this please
Hmm. I haven't really tried anything other than Gingerbread on my Eris 'cause it was already having a bit of bricking trouble on it's lonesome. You said you need testers.. Have you tried them out at all? I had trouble here and there running ICS on my Droid 2 Global and my Droid 3, so I wouldn't even really know where to begin wondering the plethora of issues it could have on an Eris. :Va
I guess I'm on the fence. :]
i dont have an eris so i cant test anything out
the eris, hero and heroc are so much alike though that im positive i can cook my heroc ics roms for eris though.
Yea! I can test everything that doesnt require me to activate it

Ditto, I use my eris for fun.

I have an activated Eris and I'd be interested in testing any and all ICS (or Jellybean) ports. And I do mean All. I enjoy testing things thoroughly (usually software under Windows) anyway and comparing their ups and downs.
tee hee
I wouldn't mind testing things out without activation, as it is currently my little gaming device, but if something needs radio I might be persuaded to make it happen. :]
I have 2 eris's one activated one not. I can do all kinds of testing .

I also Have an Eris i'm toying around with. I would be glad to test anything. Just got it as a backup from my bro. Still working on S-OFF but will test anything once I have it.
