Are there any ROMS or PATCHES that remove the standard "arc" lockscreen on an incoming call?
I've tried almose all of the ROMS and also jcase's nexux lockscreen patch, witch all fix the standard lockscreen, but as soon as I get a call, I see that dumb arch. I end up answering al ot of calls when I don't want to.
Thanks.
Lock 2.0 can make it so you just hit 'Accept' or 'Decline'.
But that might 'accidentally answer' even easier than the lock screen.
Put your phone in your pocket top-side down. You'll never accidentally slide to unlock. I still don't understand why people put it in there right side up. Phone calls accidentally answer (with tight pants) and the screen accidentally unlocks.
Upside down is better anyway. You reach in the pocket, you put your phone up toward your face to see it. It's a better system.
That's what I do. 0% accidental answer/unlock, EVER, when putting my phone in my pocket top down.
Thanks for the tip. I've got so used to rotating my phone in my hand when I pull it out of my pocket that it will take a little getting used to. It's a good idea, though.
I still hate the way it looks.
Yeah, lock 2.0 is a good alternative. I have never had a problem with the stock one, but installed lock 2.0 just for a change. I have the one like the iPhone lock, slides left to right. Give it a try
Sent from my Eris using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
Just curious, does Lock 2.0 change the way you answer the phone?
Right now I have the Nexus One lock screen but it doesn't affect the incoming call screen.
any updates on this, i hate the pull down arc for the call answer
I use a rotary lockscreen, I don't know how it work with calls lol I don't pay attention.

Lol...yeah...we have default lockscreen on the rom we're using..
So..if you're using damagerom...you'll get the invisible slide to answer bar, no rotary unlock...
I was always wondering if there was a way to change that on any custom rom...
Lock 2.0
I installed Lock 2.0 on my EE3, but every time I reboot my phone it goes back to the sense lockscreen. How do I make Lock 2.0 the default?
If you use an AOSP ROM like Eris Lightning Bolt or KaosFroyo or CyanogenEris, you will not have the arc lockscreen to answer.
You also won't have, however, the beautiful SenseUI Home, the SenseUI widgets, the ordinary goodies that come with the Sense lockscreen, and a lot of the basic system features you come to expect in Sense that (some of which are enabled via CyanogenMod or otherwise) aren't all there.
It also is slow to ring, just like with Sense. But it is a completely different approach.
I also put my phone in my pockets upside down (since when I grab it and put it to my face, it's right side up anyway) and I've
N E V E R
accidentally answered my phone when putting it in my pocket that way. Top down. It's the way to go. 100%.
Plus it's easy to hit 'end' or 'call' right from your pocket when you need to hit it really fast.

I did a search on PPCGeeks, XDA, and Google, and couldn't find any app to make the touch screen on the Titan interactive - similar to the way the Voyager touch screen works (quick vibrate when the screen is touched).
Is there any app like this? If not, can someone make one?
Thanks!
You would think HTC being one (if not THEE one) #1 Smartphone manufacture that would have SOMETHING similiar to the iphone or Voyager. The HTC Cube to me is very "amatuer" looking compared to the iphone and Voyager UI. Even microsoft couldn't make anything similiar...hopefully WM7 will blow us away.
I agree that the Cube looks pretty basic (that's why I won't put it on my phone, but I do have the TouchFLO).
But what I'm looking for is for the phone to do a very quick vibrate whenever the screen is touched.
That technology is called Haptics and it is much more than just the phone vibrating. Haptics allows you to physically feel a vibration exactly on the spot of the screen you are touching. Your phone has to have Haptics vibration built into it to use it and there isn't a single HTC phone out there using the said technology.

Indeed.
That said, I'm still interested in any app that does simply what whiteblazer01 asked for. I'm always looking over my fingers when I'm trying to dial a phone number. I'd be willing to give a simple touch-response app a shot.
Anyone?

I have been looking into this also. Especialy when i use the media player or just the main screen shortcuts.
In the mean time I was able to find a CAB somewhere in this forum that enables vibration feedback when you dial a number. It replaces the tone with vibration. I hope you guys like it. (Sorry I dont have support for it because I am not the original creator of this CAB)
Make sure that once you install the CAB that you soft reset after.
Hope you like it.
That's exactly what it is - Haptics. Thanks for the link. The program [email protected]$ put a link to (thanks!) works on the keypad, but it really doesn't feel like the Haptics system. O well, its still cool though.

I was thinkin about how we can make the phone vibrate when we tap the screen in any application instead of only the dial pad.
I came up with a theory that might give us some type of haptics feed back. It might not be exactly like haptics but it could make the phone vibrate.
There is a feature in our phone that can enable the phone to play a sound when we tap the screen for any reason. I was thinking why not replace the sound with just vibration like the CAB that changes the sound to vibration on the dialer?
Im not experienced at programming, but I am willing to take a shot into making this possible. Maybe some one can get a hold of a good programmer or some one good at registry tweaks to make this possible.
Just an idea

Great Idea [email protected]$, deffinately move forward with it, Ive been using the phonepadvibrate (essentially the same as what you posted) for well over 2 months now and love it. If you could do the same with the normal touch screen it would be amazing.
Yes its not full haptics, but in my opinion it really doesnt need to be. some sort of physical feedback (ie a slight vibration) would be great when working with the touch screen.

Carlos, I definitely agree, I would love to have that whenever the screen vibrated. Although, I don't know who would be willing to do that. I remember when I had the Apache (XV6700), I thought it would be cool if someone could make the LED lights on top into indicator lights for the shift and caps keys - which never happened (I don't know how, otherwise I would do it myself).
In fact, I wonder if someone can make a cab to have the shift and caps buttons make the indicator lights turn on whenever the buttons are pushed, not just when shift lock or caps lock are enabled.

It is very possible. I found other sources and they have some sort of program / prototype that can make this happen but it doesnt work on every tap of the screen.
What I want to do is make mine work on every tap of the screen but have the ability to turn it off and on to save power. Like turning the notification for the sound to play when you tap the screen on and off.
So far I have planned some steps to do it through the registry but since I am not an expert at programming like others are here it might take a while.
But any help is very welcome to complete this project and make it available for all.
As to changing the LED's on your phone. I think no2chem and some other guys found a way to customize your LED settings, but I'm not sure if it will be custom enough to indicate caps or shift. Maybe in the near future.

I am sure you probably have. I have the copy of the program that enables this feature. I believe it is extracted from a phone that has haptic feed back. But it is an executable.
This program is faulty. It doesn't respond on every tap and has performance issues. Other then that there hasn't been another one developed.
I'm trying to find a way to fix the issues of of the one that I found. Maybe by creating a new way to enable haptic feed back like I posted on previews posts, but it might take time to develop because I'm still learning how to mess with WM Reg. and programming.

Let me know what you find out Carlos. I would agree with you that it may be better to have the phone vibrate maybe when any button is pushed instead of anytime the screen is tapped (or maybe have the option to choose?), and also have the option to turn it off. Lol, maybe we can call it "Taptics" instead of Haptics.
As for the LED's, I'll check with some of the other guys about what they can do. I do a lot of modding myself with other electronics (cars, motorcycles, game consoles, etc...), but I don't really get into programming all that much (although the logic makes sense to me).

Okay, so I noticed the phone does vibrate, however, when using the keypad while in a call, it makes a different tone, and does not vibrate.
Also, is there any update on ways to make all buttons vibrate (and configurable) when pressed? And of course, an option to turn the feature off?

I am not sure for all buttons but there is a CAB to make the phone vibrate when you press the screen. I tried it out and it works, but it's faulty and kills performance.
I'm still working on this project. I haven't had much time to work with it, but if any break through happens then I will post it up.
I'm going to be blunt here and say straight up that I don't remember how my phone used to answer phone calls......I know that sounds stupid but I literally do not know if I slid to answer, or pushed a button, or what....but here's my problem:
As of right now, if someone calls my phone while the screen is off, it will pop up with answer and ignore buttons. This has enabled me to "pocket answer" twice today, because when I try to get my phone out of my pocket, one of my fingers hits "answer" .......... surely it wasn't like this before? I have never had this issue.
How does a stock atrix handle calls when the screen is off? How do I get it back to the way it was? I feel like a full-retard for not knowing what it used to look like, but I cannot remember!
Call screen pops up with sliders. Remains locked afterwards. So you can answer calls without unlocking your phone. If you are managing to stroke the sliders in your pocket, who knows whats going on in there!
My phone has had sliders for answering/ignoring calls since I bought it on 4.1.26.
Do you have your phone set to auto answer? Settings, call settings, auto answer.
If the screen is on and a call comes in you should see "answer" and "ignore" buttons. If the screen is off and a call comes in you should see slide to unlock buttons for "answer" and "ignore". I don't think there's any setting to toggle to enable/disable the s2u for answer/ignore.
When you wake your phone do you see a slide to unlock screen or does it just go straight to the phone home screen? I had this happen to me and a factory reset fixed that up.

I'm assuming widgetlocker was fine and dandy before the 2.3.4 OTA update right? Anytime there's a major release level update, e.g. 2.2.2->2.3.X, lots of things can go bonkers for 3rd party apps. Some things can break even with a minor release update, 2.2.1->2.2.2, but it's not as likely. It's just how it is in the world of software. fun huh?

I got my s3 this evening..I had following questions regarding the phone-
How do I share Pc's internet with my samsung galaxy S3??
How does the smart stay work??
Is there a way to install apps directly from PC to the phone??
Can the unlock screen be activated using the volume button or the home button..
1. If you want to use your PC's internet for your phone, try looking up reverse tethering. I didn't try it out for myself so I can't say for sure but it's for rooted phones only and I don't know if it works for the GS3.... yet. But I'm sure a nice developer would make one, especially since the phone is so popular.
2. Smart stay basically keeps the phone's screen on past the screen timeout time as long as the front facing camera is looking >directly< at your face.
3. You can unlock the screen with the home button and the power button but not with the volume buttons

I think you're referring to a Sense standard feature called Internet Pass Through of the HTC One X. Which is only for HTC Sense interfaces. So I'm pretty sure there isn't a built in reverse tethering feature in GS3.
No. Smart stay only prevents the phone from locking as long as you look at the screen. It does not lock by itself as soon as you look away. That would be really annoying.

Hi,
I have been looking this for long time. So it is possible to access the camera without typing pin to unlock phone?
Because WP7.5 and iOS can handle this but why not Android?
My HTC One X has this. Can use volume keys (i think it's volume keys anyway) to get camera and choice on my xoom to have various apps icons on lock screen. I had the camera taking photos via lock screen on my phone last night until I changed it. I think it was volume keys, I was pretty worn out from insomnia and fumbling the phone when picking it up to use it to pass time while not being able to sleep from pain induced insomnia.

That is not the answer because if I make that nice smart move to activate Camera. It still ask first my pin-code and after that opens Camera.
So Android can't handle Camera in sandbox mode?
Has anyone found a solution?
i would like to know the answer to this also was a handy feature on the Iphone for sure
Don't think there's a way to do this. The point of the pin is so no one can access any function of the phone without the pin. AFAIK there isn't a mod that bypasses this

Instead of making a new thread i would like to ask is there any update to this?
I know the htc phones are able to do this by dragging the camera to unlock it.
But if someone can develop this for the S3.
I know some people have played around with Sense 4.0 with s3 its still glitchy.
The main reason i want this is so i can take pictures and video immediately instead of having to put my 8 character password in and if there something interesting to record such as a dispute or police brutality or anything really we can pull out and record for future use.
Thanks for reading hopefully someone out there atleast attempts this to see if there is a solution.

Hi all,
About two weeks ago I updated my XS to the official ICS update and am half happy/half annoyed with the result.
Firstly, I'm having trouble with the Home Screen Auto-Rotate. I can't see any settings/toggles for it, and it only seems to activate when plugged into a charger, and turning on/off screen rotation doesn't seem to affect it.
This is a problem for me, because I tend to be lying in bed when charging the phone, and having the home screen auto-rotate while all other applications are fixed in portrait is really annoying!
Have any of you found some setting for this? Or have a solution?
Secondly, there's the issue with the Lock Screen. With the ICS update, the ONLY way to view notifications in the lockscreen is by using "Slide" as a lock screen option, unlike Gingerbread. This is a problem because most people tend to want the "slide to unlock" and then some sort of security function (pattern, PIN, password, face recognition).
From what what I've gathered from reading some posts, ICS removed that functionality or something rather.
Do any of you have any solutions that keep the "Xperia" theme/look?
Thanks,
Aruim
Your first problem is non issues and standard features of any phone for Android(exactly the same as GB), you need to take a quick trip to the dev section to find a solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769082
Your second problem, if I understand you is also a non issue, you can pull down the status notifications menu in the lock screen(new to ICS), you can slide to open any notification(exactly the same as GB) and you can slide to unlock(exactly the same as GB)... you will find everything (exactly the same as GB) in the security\screen lock section of the settings.

The second prob the OP has is possibly the one I've seen most people comment on.
Some of us want notifications on our locks screens, but also want security, such as a PIN. You could do this on GB, now you can't. You have to have one or the other now with ICS. It's not *exactly* the same as GB.
Not a deal breaker, admittedly, but something *I* think Sony should have left, or at least included it as a choice.
hi
For this problem,
I went to disable the Live Ware.
Or, if you use this program, you can only uninstall the new update.
(the behavior you do not want to depend on this)
this worked for me

I stand corrected; i misunderstood.
I prefer it the ICS way tho, I'd prefer not having to slide to unlock then to again go thru security, to then have access to the phone. One poor mans solution is to pick your security method then set sim lock, at least yull have two part security option when u first turn on your device.
