Hi,
The old symbian phone displays the area/location on home screen, even if the GPS/GPRS is not activated. This is provided by the network operator.
I am missing the same in my Android phone.
Even My Location option does not display the area/location on homescreen, it displays only the Network operator name.
I tried looking for apps, but all are for displaying the operator's name but not location.
I can check my location using any GPS application, but those does not display it on my home screen along with Operators name.
I want it similar to my Nokia N81 where the operator name and area name are displayed.
Thanks in advance for your help
Best Regards,
Gopinath B
There's an app minimalistic text. You can make some text display in homescreen. Lot of choices, time/date/custom text etc. I only use that for custom text.
Edit: it has time12h time24h battery% weather °c weather °f custom text, it doesn't have the operator.

Hey it has location options under custom.
System preferences like int/ext sd card space, ram, etc. Weather, and much more! You should try that. I hope i helped you.

My Rezound seems to offer no way to change the Home Clock. I can add clocks, but I can't change or delete this one clock that is set to Arizona. I turned off Location Settings, too, but I still have the one Arizona clock (presumably because that's where Verizon ships from).
I am also trying to show a summary of a few scheduled activites on my Home screen, to no avail. It seems useless to me to have a Calendar widget that only shows one activity, because I would think people would want to see at least a few so they know what their day might be like, without having to always click on something. I know I have the option to select different views; trouble is that the other views are too big to be allowed to fit on the Home screen.
Any help in these areas would be greatly appreciated.
FWIW, I don't know how Android got to be so popular. Although it LOOKS cool, it seems very clunky trying to find things (things are often not sensibly placed), and the stuff like changing a clock or displaying activities should be easier to do. Perhaps I am missing something? :crying:
That is a bug in the stock HTC CLOCK.
I live in upstate NY and my clock insists I am in new York city (if I use current location) and there is absolutely no way to delete that location.
I have tried deleting and reinstalling the clock etc and NYC just keep reappearing no matter what I do.
If I go to edit where it should be possible to delete NYC it isn't even listed.
This phone has been out for how long now? I run a software company myself, and there's no way we'd let a simple little bug like that ruin our reputation, never mind leaving our customers frustrated for this long. In fact, we'd have fixed something like that within days!
Thanks for letting me know that I spent nearly 20 hours on this phone, trying to figure it out. Do you happen to know if there is anything like a registry editor or something we can use to edit settings under the hood?
What about having an agenda listing on the Home screen, like Windows Mobile used to have? Know anything settings that might allow that? Or, am I wasting my time, there, too? I mean, first the clock, then I beat my head against the wall trying to get my Windows Media Player playlists to go across with HTC Sync, only to give up and manually copy them using "disk drive" mode. That's actually almost worse than the clock thing, in that HTC Sync offers the playlist option, but doesn't even see them on the PC!
For the calendar, which widget are you using. If you are using the one that is only 1 grid tall, that one is only made to show 1. If you need more than 1 event, just use the larger calendar widget.
Problem is that the other larger sized widgets aren't allowed to be place on the Home Screen, because a message says there is not enough room. SIGH

Tap the home button while on the Sense Rosie homescreen to bring the view out to display up to all 7 panels of the launcher. If you don't have all 7 active you have an option to add a panel. You may also delete an entire panel at once by tapping and holding the panel, then dragging to Delete. This allows you to add a fresh blank panel afterwards.
Alternatively, choose a panel to clear out manually. Tap and hold on icons and widgets until you enter an editing mode where you may reposition items or drag to the Delete icon.
It is simply wanting you to add a panel and/or clear out clutter manually first to ensure it doesn't delete your existing items.
Also note the Play Store has other launchers available you can try instead of HTC's Sense. Some allow more homescreens, but you will lose use of the widgets exclusive to the Sense interface. Some have comparable widgets integrated and there are apps with widgets in the Play Store too. It is suggested to get a feel for the stock Sense launcher a bit longer though.
Apologies for the double post, but wanted to address each topic seperate and Multi-Quote after the fact.

Take this with a grain of salt since I'm unfortunately running Sense 4 and not 3.5 or 3.6 right now. But I believe there should be a setting if you tap on the clock widget on your homescreen, go to the World Clock tab and hit the Menu button. If not there, then *somewhere* with the Menu for World Clock, perhaps when you select Edit if not the first option. If someone else could chime in on this.

A note to both of you: as far as this World Clock tab is concerned, this is precisely how a traditional traveler's clock works. It makes more sense when you realize the Home Clock is meant as the Home Time Zone. Just as when you set a time zone on a PC or forum, it usually just provides a list of major cities to choose from. I will say Sense 4 shows the current location in addition to this "Hometown" and unsure about older Sense but again, the primary function of World Clock is "nearby major city's timezone + time zones across other frequented or contacted locations."
Now jmoreton10, if the *weather* widget isn't showing your proper location, there is an issue with your Location settings. While the World Clock only can add and locate major cities, Weather should be able to tell where you are exactly by zip code. I may have had issues like that with both Verizon and Google location on; try using just Google location if you confirm Weather is not showing current location properly.

I don't think you understand what we're saying, or maybe we don't understand what you're saying. The Home clock does NOT display MY home. It displays someone else's home... in Arizona. I am in California. Moreover, the Home clock cannot be edited or deleted on the Home screen. However, if I add a traveler clock to ANOTHER panel/desktop/screen, I can choose what cities I want on it upon adding the widget, but once again, once the widget is added, if I click on the clock, I see the same Arizona Home clock in addition to the other cities I added. IIRC, Arizona does not change times when we "spring ahead" or "fall back" like we do here in CA. So, I think that kills your theory of a nearby major city in the same time zone, doesn't it? Same with those people seeing Detroit when they live in NY. Personally, I am really starting to hate Arizona!
New phone came in. Don't know if there's a difference, but it appears that there is a way to change the Home Clock. It's not very intuitive, but:
Click on the Clock Widget. On World Clock, choose the Menu button. Click Home Settings. Type your City, or SUPER HUGE MAJOR CITY nearby. Type VERY slow, because there is a very limited number of cities. If you type too fast for the app, it will give you a "not found" error. Dumb, I know, but at least we all now know WTH is wrong with this thing.
Look at any promo image of the HTC One (I can't post a link here because I'm new). Underneath the date it says "LONDON, 12C." I also want my phone to say the name of the city I am in, but it only says "MY LOCATION," and I can't find any option to change this. Surely I don't have to entirely disable location services...right?

Go to settings/accout and sync and set weather to sync automatically. Then go back to the screen the widget is at, remove the widget. Re-add the widget and when it asks you, tell it to show your current location.

No need to delete and re-add.
Click the weather on the widget (weather will open).
Menu-->settings-->check "my current location" if you want GPS to report your current location. OR
Open weather-->hit the + sign and manually add another city.
I found when i used a theme with weather, it cant find my location so its just blank. I downloaded AccuWeather because ut said i must. I tried re applying after getting accuweather but that made no difference. Thanks

This is happening to me as well. What exactly were the changes to weather? I don't see anymore options in the settings.
Make sure to link the hotspot to ThemerWeather not the weather app you installed. I am not sure if that solves it for you guys, but I haven't had any issues with it since left it at default.
We changed the weather so that:
1. The default provider is AccuWeather, not The Weather Channel. This is because AW is available in more countries than TWC. That said, Themer will still look on your phone for dozens of other weather apps.
2. As long as you are using Themer Beta 1.4 or above, go to Settings>Themer>Weather. From there you can force C or F, or leave it on Auto.
We are using a weather provider (Open Weather Map) which is unreliable. We are going to change providers are soon as possible.

It says 65 degrees (which has to be Fahrenheit, even though i set it as celcius in Settings>Themer>Weather. Below that it says haze in location n/a. this theme is amazing but one page is wasted because it cant find anything.
EDIT: How can i change an icon for something if the icon is applied on my homescreen? for example, there is a shopping folder but i dont want that, i just want it to be the play store, but i want it to use the icon of the shopping folder. when i try and change the icon i can only select from my gallery. is there no way to select an icon from the theme?
Hi All,
I set up Yahoo weather to be showing current conditions as wallpaper on lockscreen and it worked for a week or so. Since yesterday I only get a random Flickr photo instead of live conditions. I have reset touchwiz settings and Weather settings with no result.
Has anyone had such a problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?
TIA,
S

Strange, indeed. Any idea why I am getting a Flickr photo instead of the live weather animation?

I have disabled Flickr on day one. The wallpaper I get does come from my location, though. As if some other app/ setting sets up the wallpaper based on my location overriding Yahoo.
never set up flicker..also I disabled GPS location..BTW..my phone is a branding free European model.. maybe this could help..

I have the same setup apart from location being on. When I set the Live Weather wallpaper for lockscreen, the first time I unlock it, the animation shows up briefly and then disappears.
I have found the Live Weather app and cleared its cache and data,, rebooted and still no luck.
It's a location issue, that is for sure.
Does Live Weather not show images from your current location that match current weather conditions? That's what mine seems to do anyway and I think it works well

Sometimes it shows live weather conditions and sometimes just an image from Flickr
Does it show live weather conditions only if there are no corresponding images on Flickr perhaps?

Are you saying that the app BY DEFAULT is going t oshow Flickr and only when no imagery is available Live Weather? Is the app not called Live Weather and should it not show Live Weather and not imagery from Flickr? I think you misunderstood the name of the app?
I know and fully understand the name of the app, live weather doesn't necessarily mean pretty drops of water or sun flares, live weather could also mean images of your location with current weather conditions

It shows rain drops and sunshine, that is why I use it. If I wanted imagery, I would use my rotating wallpapers from homescreen.
Then do it

To clarify: the app for lockscreen is Yahoo Meteo Live and it automatically show a photo from flickr that match the current meteo condition of the city that you set up in the Samsung clock/meteo widget (or from the current location if you have this active). In case the city is too small or unknown (or the data connection is poor) the app display fixed images matching meteo conditions. In both case it shows animation for rain, hot, fog, etc. I love this feature and I set a lot of cities (my preffered and last visited) watching beatiful pictures of them switching one by one every time I want. The strange issue is that in the last days the photos are loaded only for some city (thing never happened before!). Now I can see the pictures only for the current location and the city of New York! I think Yahoo has changed something... Clear the cache and reboot are useless for me.
Did this ever get resolved? I have the same problem. I used to get local images on my lock screen matching the time of day and weather conditions. Now I only get the weather - clouds and sun with no info on where I am.
I installed the yahoo weather app from the market and it this is what I used to get from the live wall paper (I recognise some of the photos), but if I load the weather widget that powers the live wallpaper it seems to be powered from accuweather? I'm a bit confused as I haven't changed anything.
