Audio problem after flashing to WM6.5 - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus ROM Development

Hi guys, could u help me out with this. Yesterday tried flashing my HTC Touch Dual from WM6.1 to WM6.5. Everything went on quite smoothly except when finished, had some audio problems.
Upon loading the audio is fine but after initiating a call (either incoming or outgoing) the audio disappears altogether. A soft reset or restart would make it come back again but the problem repeats after a call is made or received.
FYI, these are the steps i followed for the WM6.5 upgrade:
(Using a Dell Latitude D630 on WinXP, connected via USB cable)
1) Updated SoftSPL:

2) Updated HardSPL:
Link: forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2786065&postcount=439
File used: hardspl-1.22-nike-shipped.zip
3) Updated win mobile ROM:
Link: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534205
File used: Clean Black 6.5.2 WWE (0409)
4) Updated radio ROM:

File used:
> RUU Nike Radio 1.71.09.01K - didn't work, error during install
> RUU Nike Radio 1.58.21.23S Modded - worked, but audio prblm as stated
> RUU Nike Radio 1.64.08.21K - worked, but audio prblm as stated
Let me know if u need further info in assisting me with my problem.
Appreciate the prompt response. Thanks in advanced

Try another radio, and the best way to update the radio is by flashing the original rom, I suggest to use radio 1.65.29.22 that radio come with the original wwe 2.16 rom which you can find here.
It is possible to update the radio only, but your problem could still be there so to be sure flash the original rom and see if you have a problem then if not then flash the cooked rom.
FYI If you want to use a 1.71... radio you have to downgrade your radio to a 1.58.. version and then it's working.
Greetz,

Sorry i'm still a noob in this. Correct me if i'm wrong, what ur saying is i have to:
1) Flash back to the original ROM as per link above
2) Test audio issue
3) Flash cooked ROM
4) Downgrade to radio 1.58
5) Upgrade to radio 1.71
Is the above the correct way?
Thanks

Small correction, only do step 1, 2 and 3 and see if your problem is fixed.
Greetz,

Thanks, so far step 1 & 2 is fine. Any suggestions of good cooked ROMs? Seems to be quite aplenty in this forum

It depends on what you want, if you want a lite version or a full version, you want it in English or another language just search and try out for yourself, this is something where I can't help you, it is just personal.
Greetz,

Thanks. Whats the diff between a full n lite version?

The diff between lite and full is that in a lite rom there is a minimal of programs added, so you can add your own programs, and full there are a lot of programs already cooked in the rom.

Hi,
Did it work? I have quite simular issues, but no sound at all and for me the recovery of the original rom did not do the job
thnx

Can i downgrade from ROM 2.60WWE to ROM 1.60

straight forward question.
i just need to confirm whether i can downgrade from ROM v 2.60WWE to ROM v1.60(downloaded from myxda)
also, i will do a backup to current rom to SD memory b4 performing upgrade.
Please advice
RE
Yes, you can!
I've done it recently from v2.06 (Chinese-to-Englisgh translated ROM) to v1.60 before I went to the service center to change my speaker.
There's a case whereby you'll need to downgrade before upgrading and that is when 'upgrading' between different v2.06 ROMs. Sometimes moving bewteen the different v2.06ROM version may not work, hence, you'll have to downgrade first before upgrade again.
Hope this'll help
Oh, that great, i will perform a downgrade once i reach home.
Then i will cook out my ExtROM.
i am going to insert from ROM 2.06

2. Intellipad
3. CallerID 1.2
4. WiFi

Cant restore radio stack to 4.16

Hi there, I've done the classic mistake of flashing the wrong Radio software on my Wallaby and now I can't get back to 4.16. I've tried installing Rom 1.1 which works fine, but I cant get the Radio upgrade (downgrade!) to go past 1%. I've read loads of pages on the forum that are similar to this and tried about 5 hours worth of 'cures' but nothing has worked so far. Any insight to this disaster would be appreciated.
Stevie.

Ok, done the V1.1 upgrade, though I cannot figure out how to use the OSimage tool. The V1.1 software contains no files that I can select from the drop down menu. I installed it via USB. It appears to be ok. That was the good news...
The bad news is that I still can't get past 1% on the radio upgrade (V4.16 ppc)!
Any ideas?-Am I missing something?-A brain maybe-I'm totally lost here.
Cheers folks.

I have the same problem. I installed the special ROM 1.1 and after charging the batterz to 100% I still can't get across the 1% point of upgrading the Radio Stack 4.16. It always fails.
Hi there,
I have just managed to to install Radio version 3.17  (which is no use to me in the UK) to see if I can install anything. It seems the only radio stack I can't install is the UK one! I cannot find anything in the forums that works and I reckon I've done nearly everything now.
Thanks,
Stevie.

Unable to flash my Hermes with the most recent 1.51 radio module

Hi Experts,
I got some problem to upgrade my Hermes to the most recent 1.51 radio module.
Previously, it's shipped with rom 1.2. I flashed hard-spl V7 later, and managed to upgrade the radio to 1.41 last week. Today, I tried to upgrade it to 1.51, however, one strange thing was the flash progress bar went very slow, fortunately, it completed at last. However, when the phone rebooted, I found the radio remains at 1.41~~~~~
What's the problem with that? Any more information needed?
Thanks in advance.
that proplem with me need help plz
Can anybody help us out?
Your input would be much appreciated.
Guys,
I guess the reason why no one has responded is because there are a number of options you can take to solve this problem. Most (I think) are in the wiki, hence no response.
Take some time out to do a search on Radio Upgrade problems and see what comes up.
WB
Dear WB,
Thanks for your reply. Actually, I have already read the Wiki pages. Maybe I missed some of them. However, I cannot find a solution to it.
Thanks,
Jiayi
@Jiayiw
i recommend you to read and read and read and then upgrade roms and radios that some other users used and had no problems with them , coz your device can be simply bricked like mine if you install a bad or corrupted rom into it .
good luck
WBR
It just occurred to me that, after I flashed the radio to the 1.41, it upgrades my HTC boot to 0182....
So, there is no way to flash the radio with the HTC boot version 0182?
Also, the Radio 1.41 rom is downloaded from the wiki......
Have you tried flashing another radio version like 1.47, to see if that works? You tried downloading 1.51 froma differennt source eg here>>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=323957?
WB
Thanks WB,
The problem is related to the HTC boot in my Hermes, it's 0182 already, I am not sure why it got upgraded after my flashing last time.
Anyway, I am seeking the method to flash the radio with HTC boot at 0182.

t-mobile branded HD2 - Germany

hi, i bought today on internet this t-mobile branded HD2....1st thing to do was to install an official but English fw (the branded one is in German)...spl 3.0 and last fw sometimes hangs on htc boot screen and vibrates 7 times ... switched back to stock (branded), works great .... any hint ? thanks !
How you switched to WWE version? HSPL or gold card method?
Which WWE version? 3.14 or an older one?
Why do you want to switch to a non branded WM version? Because of YouTube player?
Why not switching to a custom ROM?
HSPL and yes, it's 3.14 - i am not so into custom roms .... stock is fine for me ... and i think it's a hardware problem, has nothing to do with stock/custom anyways :-(
You can try to do a Task29 before flashing again.
If you enter boot screen, is there HX or SS next to PB81100? This means Hynix or Samsung memory chipset.
i have no idea what Task29 is i have to google it ...
at the boot screen i have:
PB81100 SS-BC
SPL-3.03.0000 XE
MicroP LED 0x05
MicroP Touch 0x50
i am downloading the Artemis Rom (in your signature)....a quick tip to do the Task29 ?
Dankö !
nevermind i did the tak29 thing, and m ready to install the custom rom....ill get bck with details, thanks again
Task29 is something like format for hard disk drives.
Samsung chipsets are known to cause problems because of bad blocks: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11070430#post11070430
For doing a Task29 and flashing Artemis you can use LeoAdvancedRUU: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=917807
Be sure to run LeoAdvancedRUU as Administrator.
EDIT: For using LeoAdvancedRUU (Task28, Task29 or Task32) you have to install HSPL3.03 again by using HSPL4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433

Before you install Artemis ROM you have to install T-Mobile ROM 3.14, because after Task29 you have a clean HD2 without anything and Artemis does not include RADIO or other needed system files.
Could be SPL version to WWE ROM are not matched.
Hopefully a Task29 & fresh install will do the trick.
Artemis ROMs are popular & also NRG ROMs are very good on the HD2.
More standard variant Custom ROM (NRG has several) can be used if that's what you prefer, from my experience the custom ROMs are far better than any standard build & we use custom 6.5.3 on all HD2s issued to staff as far more stable & better UI results in IT staff & user having better time ...
i will try, i am on hspl 3.03 - did the task29 step and now installing the stock rom (wwe)...i will than install Artemis...but i am almost sure that it's a hardware issue :-((
edit: nope, is not working / first boot after reflash hang at the HTC Boot screen and vibrates 7 times in a row :-(
Can you please correct me if i am wrong:
1. HSPL 3.03
2. Task29
3. WWW Stock Rom RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_3.14.405.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship
4. Artemis Artemis_v660_0409_WWE
This a TMOUS version ? red & green end/pickup keys & 1GB ROM ...
You now on artmesis after procedure above !
If so I would try an NRG ROM & 2.08HSPL & see what result you get.
Use hardSPL4.0 to install HSPL2.08 & once complete install NRG ROM of your choice without task 29 ... not a big fan of task29, tends to get over used.
See what result you get !?

Nope, is a regular HD2 (tmobile germany branded)
1. i install the stock rom using LeoAdvancedRUU
2. install it again over SD (to get back to stock SPL)
3. install HSPL2.08
4. NRG Rom
on it right away ! thanks, i'll get back with let's hope good news !
Hope so but vibrations at boot do sound hardware fault, probably mainboard.
maybe lucky on 2.08HSPL ! certainly worth trying before getting tools out ...
well, it did boot but after couple of minutes of moving around the menus, it hangs ....so hardware, damn..i guess i have to send it to HTC ... thanks anyways for your help
pls, don't close yet this thread, might be someone around with the same issue and might help ... thanks !
Could be CPU BGA issue, try fridge test: put in in sealed clear bag & put in fridge for 1hr then take it out & use it a bit, maybe run a video or something & see if it last much longer before failing (can also put back in fridge with video running & check it every 5>10minutes to see how it doing)
If runs for longer or without freezing then you probably got CPU BGA failure when board reaches certain temps.
If makes no difference & problem persists the same then maybe bad memory, either way new board I expect ... :-/
it seems that it runs better with th NRG rom ... so i am pretty sure it hangs when overheated...i will try to freeze the freak thanks
INCREDIBLE: the only ROM that runs without any problem is the one that came with...the default ROM ...
RUU_Leo_TMO_DE_1.72.111.4_Radio_CRC_Signed_15.32.50.07U_2.07.51.22_2_Ship
Id double check you are correctly setting spl/hspl,,, a 3.14 rom on, for example, 1.66.hspl (the hspl that the hspl2.exe would offer you by default if you run it with 1.72 rom installed,) or indeed anything other than 3.03.0000 or 3.03.hspl, will run badly. You then flash back to stock, spl matches again, phone runs fine.
not saying it isn't something else, but it's worth checking.
3.03.HSPL with RUU_Leo_S_HTC_GER_3.14.407.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship - works great so far ....

[Q] Virgin Network Latest Firmware Needed

Hi,
Does anyone have the latest firmware for the HTC HD2 on Virgin network. Ive suffered extremely slow and lots of other headachey behaviour from this phone for a number of years and im so fed up of it now.
Please let me know or point me in the right direction.
Thanks
Do not use virgin software, flash HSPL 2.08 & use a quality custom WM6.5 ROM as in the HD2 Wiki : http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_HD2#ROM_Development

Save anything from current device you want such as contacts, sms etc (spb backup , pim backup)
charge battery 100%, connect to usb to pc/notebook with activesync or WMDC (download links in hd2 wiki)
run hardSPL4 and install hspl2.08
once complete run the rom flasher & install rom
finally flash radio rom.
before using custom rom seriously you are best doing hard reset as helps reduce likihood of glitches.
Just be sure use decent usb cable & leave all alone while flashing & don't run other stuff on PC just to be safe ...
Heres a link for flashing guide, Section 2 relates to WM flashing
