Memory Problem - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How come every time I add a .zip file for a rom to my sdcard and flash it, it lowers my memory and when I delete it off the sdcard the memory
isn't restored. I deleted all the files from my apps and now all that's left is my music folder, albumthumbs and rosie_scroll. What could be the
problem. I am on a Mac btw.. if that helps. Thanks a million in advance!

Yes sir! I even cleared all of my music off the sd card so there should be gigs of memory remaining.

for the moment not possible! Maybe in the future someone will make a rom who supports that
Gl to sd card only moves files. Apps will not work later. For example, I moved Max Payne to external sd card, and then when I launched the game, it asked to download missing files. What we need over here is an app that will automatically rout to sd card when clicked.
I tried App2SD, Link2SD and GLtoSD and none worked except for breaking Google Play, the only solution i found was Directory Bind.

Thanks, will give it a try. Weird thing, i've spent like an hour trying to figure out why can't move apps to sd...
Well Directory Bind can't move Apps it only moves folders, so you can move all the SD data and some of the folders containing the Apps but when you move it you have to leave the original folder on internal memory because it makes it impossible to delete, so you just have to delete the contents.
Anyone tried "super mount".app made by lidroid
Would this work?
I opened the script file using notepad, would you just change where it says "external_sd" to "extSdCard" and it would bind the folder and allow games to access the data from the external SD?
Just asking because I'm not sure if this would work on the S3...

Go to settings->apps->all tab->media storage->clear data. Do it without your sd card in. Replace sd card and turn on phone and it will rescan the sd card correctly.
Back up anything in the /media stoage folder to your sd card before you do this.
Go to apps, all apps, find media storage and clear data, then reboot phone.
Problem solved.
Edit. Ya beat me by a min, lol.

Storage full - but with what?

Hey everyone!
I thought maybe some of you could help me with this. I'm on XXUFME3 and I have a weird problem with the internal storage. I have only 3 GB left but I don't know what fills up so much of the storage as the Storage in Settings shows in the chart I haven't used this much space.

If you've flashed ME3 coming from a 4.1.2. rom without a wipe, then all your things remain at the old 4.1.2. mount points. 4.2 has new mount points and generally a wipe is required when switching.
Hej, JJ, try to be of help for once, would you? It's better to help them with their problems and then suggest where they should post the next time. It's in the rules, but I bet you knew that.
Please read link in my signature about 4.2 and sdcard

Go to /data/media with a root explorer you should see 3 folders:
0
legacy
obb
If there are any other folders beside the three above copy them to 0 folder leaving the three above..

Hey Tallman43, thanks for your answer.
This is how my internal memory looks like:
As you can see, inside data there is no media folder, just a bunch of app folders.
Im still a bit unclear on what to do

Unfortunately, i can´t move all the folders, as i don´t have enough space in the internal storage (the irony...) Many of the folders are duplicate btw, so i´m just trying to overwrite them.
I´ve tried two times, but at the second attempt the OS crashed and the phone got rebooted.
Any other ideas?
Thanks for your help btw, very kind of you!

The way I solved it was to backup everything to computer format internal and put back only what I needed it freed about 5gb on mine..

Did you just backed up user apps + data? I guess after formatting you had to flash the ROM again, right?
What do you think caused me this problem? Could have been because i restored system apps and data from my Titanium backup?

Yep had to reflash but it's worth it for the space it freed up Its the new folder structure on 4.3 RootSu has a thread about it that explains everything.
Alright i´m looking into the thread now, thanks for the tip!

I´m looking into this solution. Could you explain how you copied all the internal content into the PC, and what was it that you restored back?
Do you have to to any special format or create any partitions after it´s clean?
Thanks!
I have been manually deleting folders from /data/media. I actually had a lot of data from old apps, and also all my old pictures, whatsapp pics etc...
I don´t understand how this can still be in the phone after several full wipes.
Is it any better way to wipe everything from the root folder and internal memory so i can flash the new rom with a completely clean phone?
would format in cwm do the trick?

Store/install the Games/apps files on the larger part of the memory (IE. SD Card) and have them run from that location.
I know the system apps can't be moved but almost any game or app can be.
I was once able to move them freely but I screwed up my phone and ended up whipping it and starting from scratch. :crying:

Dude... The whole purpose of people moving apps from internal phone storage to an SD Card is to free up space on the internal storage... by moving them to an EXTERNAL SD card (ie removable)
Since these phones don't have an external SD, all you're doing is moving your apps from internal storage to (drum roll please...) Internal Storage!!!
So basically... you're moving an app from the "Program Folders" area to... well... anywhere BUT that folder, but keeping it on the same hard drive. Make sense?

Apparently I am not getting my point across this is the HTC One X+ section right...
There are two sections on the solid state "hard drive" one is referred to as the SD Card which is allocated 50+ gigs the other section is system storage which is only allocated 2+/- Gigs.
Now I want games/apps to install to the SD card section not the system section which it dose by default.
I know this can be done as I mentioned previously I had it configured to do this but I can't remember how nor can I find anything (apps/tutorials) that will get me back to said configuration.
I hope this is a bit clearer.

No mate it doesn't. Unless your rooted you don't even have write access to /system/.
All apps and data will go on the /data/ partition. The "mock" SD card is located in /data/media/ or /data/media/0 which is just a folder on the main /data/ partition.

Try going to /data/apps/ and checking if you will find white files that end with .odex
Apps that have that will most probably be the ones affected by that error. The .odex file is created if you have "lucky patcher" installed . If you do not have this app or haven't found any odex files then ignore what I just said.
ANY apps literally ANY apps? Going to Settings > Storage , are you sure its not filled?

Try to wipe all including the data and do factory reset. You are using TWRP right? then goto advance sideload and then adb sideload the rom which u want ... from command prompt.. what you are saying is really not possible....may be you did mess up ur partition since we dont have any physical SD card slot there is just plain 64GB of which 51~55 is usable....Goodluck

I removed the two odex files I found but yet again it made no difference.
I have over 50gigs of free space.
When I screwd up my phone I did a factory wipe and even relocked then unlocked the boot loader literally started from scratch so there should be no issues.

If you asked me its a faulty rom that have no management over app installation. If its a stock rom then yeah factory reset is required.. But its a strange issue nontheless. So its fixed now when doing factory wipe?

when I did the wipe I cleared everything and went back to the Tellus stock RUU (lost all my pictures in the processes dam dropbox) and started over from there.
the first time I changed to the ViperXL+ OS I had the same issue unfortunately I can't remember how I managed to fix it I thought I used Rom Toolbox to set where apps/games installed by default but it says I have to be updated to 2.2+ and I'm only on 2.0.0
So I'm feeling like quit the Dumb A$$ I figured it out after my last post all I had to do in Rom Toolbox is change it from SD card as primary to internal storage as primary and now I can update/Install more apps

Partition
Not sure I'm posting in the right spot, but here goes. When I am in link2sd it shows SD card 2nd part not found, and it has at least 7 gb on it. The phone shows 9.72GB total & 8.27GB used,1.45GB free.... SD card (storage emulated) 9.70GB total and 8.27GB used, 1.43GB free. Kinda odd the internal and external are so close in used and free space.I installed SS and in the process it creates partitions. I didn't see any diff in the ROM I installed at the same time that was preloaded in the SS install. So I deleted the ROM but left SS hoping more ROM options will come later down the line. Then I find out I'm almost out of storage cause I get a warning in the notification bar and discover this huge empty space on my SD card. How do I unpartition the ext sd card or at least get access to all the unused space.
THANKS

If link2sd can't see the partition on the external sdcard, then possible the parition is corrupted. I would take the card out and use Gparted on your PC to fix the 2nd partion by deleted it then recreate with ext4.
