2.1 to 1.5 does it cause problems? - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am just wondering would the fact i downgraded from a 2.1 rom sensehero 2.2 to a 1.5 rom sensehero 1.6 would this be the cause of me not being able to send mms messages?
I mean i have wiped my phone a few times cleared the data to factory settings i have entered the correct apn settings for my network *Meteor Ireland* I dunno what else to do i really am stuck on this.
And MMS zap does not work on 1.5 rom s so any ideas??

if you do a full wipe before flashing the 1.5 rom there is nothing left, thus it cannot be related to the rom you used before.

Thats what i assumed yes which is why this makes no sense to me at all.
I am gonna wipe again and try another 1.5 rom cause this is crazy i have been at least a month trying to fix this

Phone not booting

Hello
First off not sure if I should post here so my appologies in advance if I made mistake.
I have been flashing my HTC Hero for some time now and lately I have been expiriancing that phone will not boot at all. It just hangs with HERO logo and its stuck there.
Sure I can reflash it again but same thing happens again after few days of use and I AGAIN needed to reflash my phone.
Right now I am using SuperHero rom but same error came up with VillainRom and Crons so I dont think its ROM related.
Radio is not flashed in a while now so I do not think thats the problem eather.
So my question is does anyone here has same issue as me and can it be fixed ?
Thanks
I don't have that issue but if you are using amon_RAs recovery you should wipe everything. factory reset, dalvik wipe, ext wipe if youre using a2sd. then flash a new radio image:

the last one there "63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26"
unfortunately your issue can be related to anything and pretty much nobody can guess. still as I see in your signature your radio is pretty much outdated and some ROMs seem to have broken a few radios. I think it's pretty much recommended that you sometimes re-flash your radio because of some broken ROMs out there. That's just what I have read but as I am not a developer I can't tell. So if you're having issues with your phone re-flashing does not hurt you, but if everything works fine there is no need to do that.
in short: imho wipe _everything_ and re-flash _everything_ and _don't_ restore nandroid backups or so, that way wiping does not make much sense
Update your Radio and Recovery maybe?
Sorry guys, but my signature is outdated. Will be updating it right away.
Of course I updated RADIO (some time ago) and version that I am using now is 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26.
I always wipe everything before I use new ROM and setup everything from scratch. No restores at all.
@Feeyo what do you mean by update recovery (radio part I understand) ?
Thanks guys, still need input, ideas
Moved as not Android Dev.
Same thing is happening with my hero, only happened recently after i started using overclocked roms however, maybe something is wrong with the CPU?

[Q] Data not working on 2.3.4 Tried everything don't know what to do.

Alright I have unlocked my bootloader flashed cwm recovery, flashed 2.3.4, flashed Navalynt's Mod, rooted my phone and data does not work.
I have tried restoring the apn and rebooting ~not working.
I have tried readding the apns from here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054164 ~not working
Followed the directions including flashing the new radio here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1142835 ~not working
Does anybody have any ideas or maybe a forum thread I may have missed.
I really like the new version and sofar have no problems other then this data problem but unfortunately this data problem is a deal breaker for me so I guess If I cant get it working gonna have to downgrade.
Anyways I hope somebody knows what I need to do.
In the mean time I'm gonna go ahead and start over and try again.
Thanks in advanced!
i have had some weird issues, i found that resetting apn to defaults and flashing the new radio while on 2.3.4 helped my data situation, now when i first came over to the new rom, i backup up my apn list, but it shouldnt matter, have you gone through and manually put in the settings and rebooted
I figured out what the problem was. I flashed the experimental version of Navalynt's Mod. When I started over with the process I noticed that the file names didn't match up. After flashing the right one it works like a charm.
Thanks anyway for the speedy response.
Got hit with this too. Tried every which way to get APN's working. Set defaults, choose one over the other, manual vs auto, and even APNDroid.
Reflashing 1.83 SBF now and going to try OTA 4.5.47 before anything else. Like most other Moto users I'd rather have a vanilla experience and/or CM7. At least I enjoy taking proper ownership of my hardware

[Q] lockscreen password

Here's a strange one for you people ........ been using cm7 for a few week no real issues until I flashed "LeoMar75 Rom Revolution v2.4" everything flashed fine except now my phone is asking for pin everytime i power on. I've never setup a pin / password?! So with that i thought no problem I'll reflash to another rom clearing everything first. This does not seem to be clearing the pin out I've also tried going back to stock and still the pin is present! The ony way I can get the phone working (unlocking) is to reflash cm7! So now I'm stuck with cm7 until i can figure a way to really clear everything off my phone. Any suggestions? and does anyone now why going back to stock is now wiping this data out?
Oh my, that is very unfortunate. I've never heard of this problem. Maybe you can try a full wipe and flash a new ROM instead. Use Titanium backup if needed.

CM7.2 random reboots on OV

I have been running the Backside IHO CM7.2 build on my OV for a couple weeks now and I keep getting very frequent freezes followed by a reboot. It does this while OCed as well as running stock speed-it makes absolutely no difference. Also it seems to do it most often when the battery is below 50%ish. I have done a full wipe of system, cache and dalvik cache prior to flashing and the problem has persisted through all updates that have been released over the past couple weeks. Does anybody have any idea why this might be happening or ways that I can fix it? I really don't want to go back to a froyo rom if I can help it. Thanks
same problems, i just checked and found that my phone isnt rooted anymore dont know if that makes a diff but im not sure what to use to root it back if it matters..

[Q] getting errors after flashing roms. normal or not?

Hi. i own an HTC EVO V 4G (Virgin Mobile). i used the Search function but sadly didnt found exactly what i needed.
a month or so after activating the phone, i decided to Root, S-off, Flash Recovery, bootloader and a custom Rom. However, its been a while now, that when i do a fresh install i get some inconsistency problems. for example, my first Rom was Harmonia, but later on i switched to MidnightRom. there the problems started to show up. the Sense version was working fine, but then i wanted to try out the Jellybean version. and when i did (after wiping everything, of course) some apps were not working. PlayStore wouldnt let me download anything, Tethering was not working, when using "reboot" the phone would get in a bootloop, which would only go away by removing the battery. and 3D games (Shadowgun, Temple Run, etc.) were graphically laggy. more like, unplayable. the image was distorted to the point it was impossible to see what was going on. messed around with fixing permissions, deleting Cache and Dalvik, re-flashing, and the problem was still there. i tried with other Jellybean Roms (both 4.1 and 4.2) and noticed that the problems were still there. anyways, after deciding to live with the problems (running Wild For the Night). months later i decide to flash MidnightRom again and i see that all the problems are magically gone. to this day ive been running only 4.1+ Roms and i dont have many issues whatsoever. BUT. i tried a Senseless Stock-based Rom the other day (started to miss 3D camera) and it ran well, but the overall behavior of the phone was laggy. it would take longer than usual to do anything. took me about 5 re-flashes to get rid of all the problems. then just yesterday i tried a few other Roms. some worked, though DU was really laggy, and the icons would switch places by themselves at times. as i saw the problem was not going away with re-flashing, fixing permissions and whatnot, i decide to restore to my most stable Flashed Rom.
just to clarify, here is what i do every time im about to flash a new ROM:
Wipe everything except SD card
Wipe Cache and Dalvik
Flash.
Reboot
after i flashed, if something went wrong, or if im flashing something ontop:
Wipe Cache and Dalvik
Fix permissions
Reboot
so question is, is this normal? does this has to do with the phone switching from ICS to JB? or am i doing something wrong?
also, just curious... is there a way one could, say, by some weird reason be "half S-off"? because although my bootloader says S-Off, and i have been able to flash many things, i remember that when doing the Wire thing i experienced many errors, and the thing said it was successful by itself a few seconds later while i wasnt doing anything.
and also, which is the best and most stable Hboot version i could use?
My HBoot version is 1.04.2000 (PG8610000)
Radio is 1.09.00.0706
My Recovery is 4EXT latest version
Thanks in advance
