hello,
just one question,
is there anything to increase the scrolling speed in opera mobile 10, or to jump to the start or end of a webpage, with one click or something like that?
why?!
there are a lot of forums, which doesn´t have pages.
so, if there are, let´s say, 200posts, the page is a real monster, and reading the last posting, is very frustrating.
any suggestions?
ps
i read something about kinetic scrolling - is it enabled at default, or something to do manually?
thanks in advance for any idea.
best regards
mario
if youppress the red bar on top operator jumps to the top of the page. i don't know if there is anything like that for going down right to the end.

I'd really love to know too. I just did a quick google using these keywords "opera 10 mobile scroll to bottom", no luck.

On my old Dell Streak, and my Asus Transformer, I can zoom in on text until it was a comfortable size and double click it. This word wraps the text to the size of the screen.
I can't seem to do this on my beautiful new SGS2 The menu option "Auto fit pages" doesn't appear to work this way (although it is better than nothing)
Is there a way?
If u do search you'll definitely find answer in forum. I use Dolphin HD browser which does it with no probs.

I did search and although people asked the question, nobody appeared to have a valid answer.
opera mobile does it too.

I use Dolphin and it doesn't do it. Neither on any other application. So what's the solution?
On my old HTC it worked on anything I did it on.
I don't think that there's a solution for this (at least in the stock browser that I use), though I'm fine with the 'Auto-fit pages' option on.
What you're asking for is exactly what "Auto-fit pages" is for, and it works perfectly for me. I can only guess that something is different between our devices (branding changes, different FW versions etc..)
Despite being overkill for such a small issue, is trying a different ROM out of the question?
Solved it by enabling Pinch-zoom button. That is the -/+ that shows up in the bottom right of the browser when you touch the screen.
Strangely you have to use this and zooming with your fingers won't work as stated by this thread.

Pinch-to-zoom doesn't do it, but double tapping to zoom in/out does.
Double tapping won't get the zoom you require it will zoom to fit the screen.
Try enabling Pinch in Dolphin browser. It works and is already enabled in stock browser.

Not true. It zooms to suit the "Default zoom" setting.
The first attachment is normal viewing, and the second is after I double-clicked the top left of the article. As you can see, the text is reformatted to fit the screen (not the other way round), and it is more than large enough to read. This is with default zoom set to medium.
I know this is an old thread, but I found it by searching for a solution for this problem as I now have a Note with the same issue, on ICS.
I think it's Samsung’s fault. It worked perfectly on my Galaxy nexus.
however, the good news is that there is a solution.
Download ICS browser+ from Google Play. Its great.

You have to double click twice... First double click = zoom, second double click is text refllow.
After the second double click you can pinch and zoom to any desired level and the text will reflow accordingly :good:

Tried it but it won;t work. I did the automatically text reflow too option too and when I zoom in just past the screen it automatically zooms out.
Even if I do a double tap it automatically zooms out.
Maybe it's my firmware. I'm on stock "I9100XWLPD". Could you or anyone else that got this working let me know which "exact" stock firmware you have so I can give that a try?...
^ Tried 3 other Stock ROMS this morning and no dice with this working on ICS Browser+.
Which exact Stock ROM versions are you guys getting this to work on?...

thanks for sharing! I can't wait to try this out.
Yes version 11.1 has zero lag...using currently with thumb keyboard.
This browser works great! No lag at all, and the performance is great.
+1 . speedy typing with opera mobile and thumb keyboard
so, this confirms it's a software problem(no more blue-ish screen and lag in typing mode). Stock and dolphin browser better fix it soon too!

You may be able to extract the Gmail.apk from one of the system dump/ROMs located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1053 then just push it to your /system/app folder
Wow, this browser is blazing fast. Big thumbs up!
(Changed my user-agent to Firefox 5.0.1).
So uh... yes it's fast and smooth but is anyone else getting alot of freeze ups using it? I've had 3 in the last hour while using opera. Tablet will just straight up freeze and I gotta hold the power button to reset.
The one problem I have with this is that when one enters a term in the Google search window, it returns results from Google's mobile search engine, and I can't seem to find any way of fixing this. Really annoying, given that I'm quite sure no one wants the mobile version of anything on a tablet.
EDIT: forgot about this trick - to get around this all one has to do is:
1) go to the standard Google search page (www.google.com)
2) once loaded, long press on the search box on that page; a window will pop up to "add search".
3) just add the search and call it Google, then go to the search window in the browser and select the new Google search engine option you just created.
4) and boom, a nice desktop version of Google search!

No,which kernel are you on?
Disabling Speed Dial!?!??
...but now my latest issue is trying to disable the stupid Speed Dial page seen at the start of opera. I just want to have a normal home page activated. I did go into about:config and found the default home page entry option, but even though I entered an address and it did save, the browser still goes to Speed Dial at start up. Grrrrr!!

FYI having the browser UA to desktop does not affect the search window. I did edit my post to include a tip on how to get around this though

1) typing is indeed much better. no more blue highlights in text boxes which seems to be the cause.
2) text selection is steadier.. the cursor seems to pick the right position more accurately and without the real annoying cursor jumping.
Dislikes
1) when typing this response.. the typing indicator started right in the middle of the reply text box with no way to put it at the top line.
2) font is smaller than stock browser and dolphin HD
3) scrolling is not as smooth as stock browser and dolphin hd
4) loading pages is slower than stock browser and dolphin hd
5) no full screen viewing
6) bookmarks are not as easy to access like dolphin HD
with all that said.. it is such a relief to be able to type without lag and to be able to set the cursor more accurately. I'll stick to opera for now until dolphin or stock gets rid of the lag. opera's small font is really annoying though. anyone have a fix?

Type opera:config in the address bar. There is a section for fonts, I haven't tried editing it though to change font size.

yea I've tried to up the min font size under user settings, but didn't make a difference. I've set the scale size higher which did increase the size, but cuts off parts of the page at the right hand side now. I'll keep testing different settings
increased the min font size to 13 which seems to help. tried 14, but it made sites look weird and buttons got cutoff. also, it doesn't seem to apply the new font size to everything. it changed xda, but did a Google search, and the results were still the smaller size.
also more dislikes:
1) tab button doesn't work! example - pressing tab to switch text boxes
2) sometimes texts just disappear since for some reason, it forgets to focus on the text box

Yup, just realized this myself. That bites...
When scrolling through a website on the browser I have noticed that if you start scrolling strictly vertically or horizontally the browser "sticks" in this direction for while, and then lets go. The scrolling is not completely fluid. I find this EXTREMELY annoying especially when trying to scroll in a diagonal direction.
Is there any way to remove this vertical & horizontal "scroll lock"
i noticed this too on a few occasions. at first it got me worried that there was a zone in the screen not registering touch input (i had this issue on my atrix which is why i ditched it).
but i haven't really had any problems anywhere else...
i heard there was an app out that fixes some sensitivity issues for the sgs2. try 'touchscreen booster' from the market and play with the settings a bit. let me know if that fixes your problem
I have the touch screen sensitivity app already ( which is included in a lot of kernels). i noticed the scrolling improvement thought the phone but still have the same issue with the browser. im suprissed that this isnt a hot topic. i hope some one can figure it out eventually.

It isnt a hot topic because its not an issue everyone is getting....so far only two of you are reporting it
It doesnt happen to my stock browser, or my friends
It might help if we knew what firmware you are running
Plus, this has nothing to do with development - this should be in Q&A

I think this is a "feature" to make it easy to scrool up/down and left/right(So you don't have to adjust if you read a long page).

+1. This is a "feature" lol. And I like it. It would be hard to read long pages without it.
lol'd
I'd resurrect this topic, because this problem is driving me nuts.
I LOVED scroll lock, and now after ICS update there are only problems. The only browser that I found to offer working scroll lock is Firefox, but it has some disadvantages. Opera Mobile has partially good scrolling, but double-tap-to-zoom fails if you disable text wrapping.
Now I use Firefox + Tasker to kill it when it's in background. I got used to scroll lock so much with stock SGS2 browser and exPDF that I can't comfortably read stuff without it. Today I also tried Boat Browser, Dolhpin, Maxthon, Skyfire, and they all failed. Can't they make browser that would behave just like exPDF? There are tons of features, but I think that web browser is actually for reading stuff.
Is there a way to keep the keyboard from popping up (temporarily)? So I want to keep the keyboard from showing on a certain website.
Here's the deal: on a website I like to visit there is a small animation and a place to type in your response. The keyboard pops up and covers the animation. I actually don't care about typing my response - I just want to see the animation. Thanks

Not exactly the answer you are looking for ... but you can close the keyboard by pressing the back key once.

One way you could do it is to download Smart Keyboard Pro and go to Settings --> Advanced Settings --> Hide in Portrait.

The thing is that the keyboard doesn't disappear quick enough before the animation starts and it is a quick animation so I miss the beginning. In case you are wondering what the heck I am doing... I am learning ASL fingerspelling. A hand spells letters of a word at different speeds for practice so if I miss the first letter, I miss the word.
Thanks for all your help everyone!

No problem.
in iOS 8 , there is a new feature , usefull for when u are using your phone with 1 hand ,
and need to touch the top of screen , so u wll tap 2 times on home button ,
and the top of the screen will scroll down half the way , so you can touch
top of the screen easily with your thumb.
Is there a similar thing in android ??

Not really. Your best bet would be to use one of the various side launchers to add all of the shortcuts you need there. There are also apps and mods that will bring down the status bar to show the notification drawer with a click or gesture.

None of those really address the OP though. "Reachability" minimizes or lowers the entire screen's content to be more easily reached with one hand.

I'm aware of what the OP is asking for, and knowing that what I offered was not the same, hence the "Not really" part. What happens when there isn't the solution someone is asking for, is that you offer the next best thing. What I suggested will allow you more flexibility than Reachability mode ever would.
This just came out not too long ago...
