Hey all.
I recently got my x 10 and after reading these forums assumed the screen came with a protector on it. I checked it when I got it and it looks like it has one. But after trying to remove it am starting to think its just the outline of the reflective/shiny surface. If anyone can confirm that it is a protector that would be great.
Anyways I seem to some how of gotten a light scratch on my screen. Its very light but enough to get the rainbow effect and be annoying. Does anyone know of a scratch removal solution that is safe to use on the x 10 screen.
Look forward to hearing back.
Regards,
Dylan

I can confirm that there's a screen-protector on the X10 from the fabric, removed it myself, just be a bit rough with it
Have done some research and it seems novus plastic polish is the way to go. Has anyone used this before and know of it will be ok for use on the x10 shiny screen??

Thought i should just add.. the pree applied protector is quite hard to peel of.. once you get it going it it's soon done but it's hard to make that first corner let go and you have to pull it quite hard to rip it of. but it should not leave any uggly marks or rests. did not leave any for me atleast (i removed mine couse i messed up and made a huge mark in it)
Hey. Thanks for the replies. Just a little worried about trying to get it off if its not really the screen protector lol.

Did you ever give it a go? I have a couple of scratches on mine and would love to get them off. Have heard talk of white toothpaste being valuable of phone screens but I'm a little hesitant about that...
I removed the pre applied film and have never scratched the screen.

Can anyone tell me how durable the screen is from scratching? nd I heard that the protection was there to prevent it from screen shattering on a drop is that true?

A thin piece of film will not stop the glass from shattering, its not like the film car windows use. I've been using my x10 with no film and all is fine.

My daughter and I both have x10's. I've dropped my phone several times on ceramic tiles without issues. She on the other hand often drops hers on concrete and keeps it with keys in a tight fit since she doesn't use a purse and just shoves the phone into her jeans. She has pitting and scratches.
It's mineral glass similar to that on a good watch.

I've dropped mine repeatedly, and dont have a single scratch, i do however have a crack at the bottom of the screen, but that took my 78 kg on top of the phone and a metal button to do, plus falling :/
How to remove a screen protector
Well the easiest way to do it would be to use a piece of scotch-tape.
If you apply the scotch-tape to one of your protectors corners, it should be fairly easy to peel it off...
Felt pretty stupid when i found out that I have 2 protector s on. The stock and the spare one supplied but I've let them on as my 4 year old plays on it often.

im very tempted to remove it but dont think i will. i have horrible luck with touch screen phones lol
i broke my previous iphone screen 3 times.
Wow thanks guys this is amazing. I have had my x10 since may 2010 and I only just found out it has a screen protector. I have taken it off and now all the annoying surface scratches has gone.
Thanks!!!!!!

No way... When I got the phone there was an obvious cover stick on the phone which I assumed was the screen protector and thought how bad it was and removed it straight away. I just realised that that wasn't it and I still have one on there. Man that's a fantastic protector, I didn't even know it was there..! Brilliant!

Hey guys, im stressed out! I accidentally dropped my O1 on a hard ground on a road. Thank god the screen isnt crack only my left rubbery panel have a little invisible scratched a bit.

Relax, man. I've dropped it 5-6 times from 1-1,5m on a hard ground. I have few almost invisible scratches on the rubbery pannel. I think the side metal band is not only decorative, but provides some stress protection. The rubbery material diminishes the visibility of the scratches. Overall, it's a very sturdy phone, better built than 2X IMO.

I am very unhappy with my phone, sometimes I feel like breaking the shot out of this phone. I did the same with my last nokia 5233 but so far I haven't dropped it.
You are not alone there and also you are lucky like me. Few days ago my HTC wildfire is also accentually doped out on the hard floor. Due to this some spots appear on the screen. I also share this incidence on forum. But no one know how to remove spots from LCD.
You are surprised to know that spots are automatically removed from LCD.

OMG.. just replace it with a thinner model... screen becomes moisture sensitive afterwards.
Is it really another screen protector? Because I'm scared to go really hard to take it out I used a razor blade I.managed taking a small part out really tiny tho.

Yes it definitely is another screen protector.
Yes the screen is far more responsive with a thinner screen protector on it.
also don't use a razor blade, I used a safety pin to vertically stab the edge until it lifts a bit. Then use your hands to pull it off as it is stuck on hard so needs a bit of strength to pull off rather than a normal screen protector

I made it wooot! Now my screen is a bit sticky but its normal because of the layer

rip that puppy off. mine has been off for months and months. its super tough glass that is ridiculously strong - i have not scratched it AT ALL and it has no stains or marks.
one guy even took to his with a knife to test it (search for an older thread on this). dont worry about anyone saying that its gunna scratch or get water in it - its glass after all so they have clearly not tried it.
hands down BEST mod you can do to your x10, and its FREE!

I have tested this..
The touch response is effected by moisture.
Pull it off and replace with a nice thin one.
It's crystal glass.. quite impervious to damage.. but it can still crack and break.

Correct. Its not a "shatter proof" sheet but a factory installed screen protector. There's an extra screen protector included on some markets.

Is that so? I heard that almost every Sony (Ericsson) device comes with the pre-applied shatter proof sheet and it takes some force to remove it. I might be wrong anyway.

No need, the one that is already applied is more than enough. Just keep it as a spare.

Got mine from O2, UK. All I had was a cloudy screen film with descriptions on. I had to remove it to see the screen properly and applied the provided screen protector, and have two irritating bubbles! Would be nicer if they were all fixed on from factory. Although looking back at it, it seems like there is another layer below that - visible on left side only mainly because the screen protector isn't in perfect alignment. Bottom layer seems like it's thin piece of glass rather that plastic.
Anyone has the same as me?
I put it onto the sheet, and it works quite fine. Double protection

Has anyone removed the factory fitted protector? I generally don't use protection (hurr) and think this one just attracts more muck than anything. I've never had a problem with scratching screens so I'm not convinced it's necessary in my case.
So if anyone has removed it, is it glass? Is it difficult to remove? Was it a terrible idea?

I bought a pretty expensive martin fields screen protector because I'm very scared to damage the display or ruin the quality with a cheap dealextreme screen protector.
Do you suggest I use the pre applied screen protector until there are scratches on it, pull it off with force and apply the martin fields on the glass or do i put on the martin fields screen protector straight on the pre applied one?
i heard that the pre applied one is not designed to be taken off... so i'm not really sure
Hey Guys, I recently bought the clear protector for my phone and I really liked the quality of the product. yeah! You need soapy water solution to apply! Also, it can go without the solution, but once it sticks to the phone..... it will be hard for you to align it!
Anyone know if the O.D. has a protective film over the screen like the ones for the iphone?

It does. I have had that case on my phone since day 1. The only problem I had with it was, you had to press down harder for the screen to register whats being pressed. I got used to it though. It may have just been mine though.

I highly doubt it's just yours. I have multiple defenders for various iphones laying around here and you have to press down a bit harder on all of them(especially if there's a screen protector already installed). If there is a screen protector on yours, I would remove it.

No cutting needed. Simply push on it from the front and it'll come apart where it is glued off. Really easy to do.
I keep a ghost armor on my phone so the built in screen protector is really awkward. I'm actually trying to sell mine because of it haha. Otherwise it's a really solid case.

I removed the cover and now I love how the case feels. The extra screen protector was a little bit of an overkill but I love the case now that it doesn't feel like I am using a resistive screen. The other issue with the extra screen protector was it was hard to use the capacitive buttons on the phone.
