I was gazing at #dellstreak on twitter the other day I came across the following post

I remember when I upgraded my Dell Streak that the instructions weren't 100% user friendly so I thought I'd give him a hand.
What actually came out of it was the following tutorial.
I will end up going through and properly acknowledging authors (I've done a blanket one currently)
Hope fully this tutorial might help other people and simplify the process quite a bit for them.

Upgrade from o2 2.1 to StreakDroid FroYo v1.5.3
I have tried to make things simple as possible, however you will need to assess if YOU are comfortable running these commands, if not please don't bother.
Whilst I have black screened and froze my device may times and that it "looks" bricked / dead, a restore to the original baseband/rom/recovery image has always solve it for me, but I'm not saying it will for you!

What your doing.
**************************************
I will try explain the best I can what it actually is that you will be doing.
You will be updating the recovery image to a custom one (it does the firmware upgrading), updating your
baseband (a 2.2 gsm/gprs driver) and then installing the new firmware.
Once you have flashed to DJ_Steve's StreakDroid firmware updating it is very, very simple (copy the update to the SD and load it from recovery) it is literally a 5 minute job.
**************************************
Warnings
**************************************
Whilst I have had black screens and recovered very easily from them it has taken me literally HOURS to do so.
Upgrading via this method whilst quite fool proof should only be attempted if you are confident, however bare in mind that the reward is well worth it.
This is the usual "it's YOUR phone, if you break it you break it and I will not be held responsible" blurb.
**************************************
On to the upgrade
**************************************
So your on V2.1 (the o2 **** up) and you want to get to StreakDroid 1.5 because o2 are dragging their collective asses? and
you have already downloaded all the tools above of course? Good! Lets begin!
Extract "The Fastboot tool" to c:\fastboot
Rename "fastboot-windows.exe" to "fastboot.exe"
Extract "The Clockwork Recovery Image" to c:\fastboot
Extract "The new Baseband" to c:\fastboot
Extract "The 720p HD video patch" to c:\fastboot
Install "Dell PC Suite" "R290208.exe" then "Updated Dell Streak PC Sync Tool (eclair 2.1).zip"
Turn phone off
Make sure your USB cable is unplugged
Press Camera and Power until you see a white screen
Press the touch screen on the top right (Fastboot), the screen will change.
Count to 10 (honestly, just do it as it saves a whole load of headache)
Plug the cable in.
Go to device manager (Control Panel>System>Device Manager).
View "Other devices" should be a "Android 1.0" device with a yellow warning symbol
Right click -> Update Driver Software -> Browse for the driver -> Let me pick -> Show all -> Google, Inc -> Android Bootloader Interface.
Ok, Next, Next, Yes I'm sure, etc. Until the drivers have loaded.
Now when you check (Control Panel>System>Device Manager) you should see an "Android Phone" section with the "Android Bootloader Interface"
*********************Point of hard return********************
*****Past this point you will actually flash the updates*****
*************************************************************
Open a command prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd)
goto c:\fastboot
***flash custom recovery***
in command prompt:
fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.alt.img
wait until your device displays "Download RECOVERY Done!"
fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
hold camera + power.
unplug the USB cable
enter fastboot again (top right)
count to 10, connect the cable
***flash new baseband***
in command prompt:
fastboot -i 0x413c flash amss amss.mbn
wait until your device displays "Download AMSS Done!"
fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
unplug the USB cable
Let the device load into the android os (one loaded you should notice the phone won't connect to o2, this is normal)
After booting connect the phone up as a usb device
Copy "The StreakDroid FroYo v1.5.3 firmware" to you sd card
Rename "update-1.5.3.zip" to "Update.zip" (it's case SeNsItIvE)
Power down the device
***Loading the Update***
If you choose you can leave the USB cable connected for power (although I would recommend you have 40-60% battery life and leave the cable unplugged).
Boot the device holding vol up + vol down + power
You will see a black screen with white writing (vol buttons are up/down, camera button is enter/ok)
Enter "Software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD Card" (This takes you into the "The Clockwork Recovery Image" used to update via a unsigned zip file)
You will now be on a black screen with green writing
Enter "apply sdcard:update.zip"
Go down to "Yes - Install /sdcard/update.zip)
This will load the update
***Factory resets and wiping data***
(I am not sure if the clockwork factory reset and dell factory reset do the same so I run both to make sure.)
Enter "Wipe data/factory reset"
Enter "Wipe cache partition"
Enter "Reboot system now" (after entering "Reboot system now" quickly hold vol up + vol down)
Enter "1. Factory Reset"
Enter "4. Power off"
Power you device back on (Power button on its own)
You will find that the first boot it will seem to hang on the Dell logo for upto 20 minutes, leave it hanging for 20 minutes.
Congrats you should have v1.5.3 loaded with the Android 2.2 goodness.
***Optional HD video Fix***
Turn off you device
hold camera + power.
disconnect the cable
enter fastboot (top right)
count to 10, connect the cable
in command prompt:
fastboot -i 0x413c flash dsp1 dsp1.mbn
wait until your device displays "Download DSP1 Done!"
fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
***Updating StreakDroid***
Now that you are on StreakDroid upgrading to a new version is very simple.
Download the latest version as listed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8509320&postcount=1
**READ THE FIRST POST!** to make sure that it isn't going to require a factory reset or any other special instructions.
Copy the new .zip file to your sdcard
Rename the .zip file to "Update.zip" (it's case SeNsItIvE)
Power down the device
Boot the device holding vol up + vol down + power
You will see a black screen with white writing (vol buttons are up/down, camera button is enter/ok)
Enter "Software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD Card" (This takes you into the "The Clockwork Recovery Image" used to update via a unsigned zip file)
You will now be on a black screen with green writing
Enter "apply sdcard:update.zip"
Go down to "Yes - Install /sdcard/update.zip)
This will load the update
Enter "Wipe cache partition"
Enter "Reboot system now"
You will find that the first boot it will seem to hang on the Dell logo for upto 20 minutes, leave it hanging for 20 minutes.

Please let me know any feedback, corrections, and so forth.
If it seems no one is interested in it then I'll just let to wander into the cyber graveyard.
on the following:
***flash custom recovery***
in command prompt:
fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.alt.img
fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
hold camera + power.
disconnect the cable
enter fastboot again (top right)
count to 10, connect the cable
***flash new baseband***
in command prompt:
fastboot -i 0x413c flash amss amss.mbn
fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
I would put something like "wait until you get the message on your Streak FINISHED UPDATING" before rebooting, or you know someone is going to say "you didn't say to wait!"
Also, on this part:
***Loading the Update***

you don't say why you are "Enter "Software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD Card"
", or is that just me losing track of the explination? Fantastic guide though. Very clear.

No problems, sounds like a good idea to state to wait. However you cannot type fastboot -i 0x412c reboot untill it's finished anyway.

Thanks for the feedback.

sucess! finally!!!! I am been strugling going from 02 2.1 to streakdroid. Everyone keeps pointing to the upgrading and downloading post instructions which doesnt work if you follow the o2 upgrade step. I kept having to revert back to o2.
This worked perfect first time.
One thing I noticed was "Extract "The StreakDroid FroYo v1.5.0 firmware" to you sd card"
You dont actually extract the zip or its not a zip anymore. just download and move to the root of your sd card and rename.
It took me a second to realize but someone else may miss that.
Thank you!!!
Thanks this instruction works on my ATT with unlock 2.2

Of course, I would be more than happy to help you.
When you select "Software upgrade via Update.pkg" what do you get? typically if you have flashed the Clockwork Recovery Mod you will get one of two results:
1) Nothing i.e. a blank screen.
or
2) A black screen with green writing.
If for some reason you don't get either of these results please reflash the clockwork recovery mod.
***flash custom recovery***
in command prompt:
fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.alt.img
wait until your device displays "Download RECOVERY Done!"
fastboot -i 0x413c reboot

If however you get a blank screen then please download:

Hi, I am all new to this android thing, and since I'm plug & play kind of user, all these data only confuses me.
So i'm beging for help...
My dell streak was bought in Croatia (europe), T mobile, but device is unlocked and I'm using "tele2" network.
Firmware on streak is 1.6. build No. 6267
I don't know what guide to use for upgrade to 2.2.
I've got a notiffication for upgrade, but as I'm using limited mobile internet, I cannot connect to my home wifi, (Iskon + Carnet) it is somehow protected and you can only connect to it through windows on computer; and I don't know how MB will it take.
So please, help this ignorante woman to figure out this thingy
Did I mentioned I was blond?
Dr.Dellka,
If you are getting an update notice on your device then based on your "plug and play" description of yourself I think you would be better leaving these unofficial updates and using the official one that you device is showing you.
typically an update is between 100-200MB.
Without connecting your device to a internet connection for the update the only other way would be to download the .pkg file and transfer it to the root of your sdcard, reboot holding power+vol up & vol down and then select "Software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD Card".
Unfortunately because I haven't looked into this method of official update I do not currently know where to source the official Update.pkg file. Hopefully someone else on the forum will be able to help with this.

need your help qisback, i have being trying to update from o2 2.1 to to dj steve's 1.5.1 now for a few days and still no luck . im having problems with the fast boot.i get up to fastboot-mode and then open command promt and type goto c:\fastboot.enter and then.fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.alt.img. and thi is what i get .fastboot is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.i don't anderstand why i have done step by step as you have described on post 1 . i really need your advice. thanks in advance
Check in the c:\fastboot folder there will be a file called fastboot-windows.exe rename that to fastboot.exe and you should be good to go
yes i have done all that. i feel like pulling my hair out.
Hello The Monster,
I'm sorry to hear that. Typically if you are getting "not recognized as an internal or external command" style responses from the command prompt it's because either:
a) The file isn't in the right place/called the right thing.
b) Your not in the right place/calling the right thing.
So long as you have done the following
Extract "The Fastboot tool" to c:\fastboot
Rename "fastboot-windows.exe" to "fastboot.exe"
Click to collapse
You should then be able to do the following in the command prompt
cd c:\fastboot
fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.alt.img
Click to collapse
**wait until your device displays "Download RECOVERY Done!"**
fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
Click to collapse
Please try the above, if it doesn't work then please take a screenshot of the following:
**make sure the error has just occurred**
Select the "Command Prompt" window
type "dir" and press enter.
Press Alt + Print Screen (this will capture just the "Command Prompt" window.
Open MS Paint (either via start or run -> mspaint.exe)
Paste the clipboard (either edit -> paste or ctrl + v)
Save as a jpeg and attach to your next post.

thanks for the guide, helped out well. My baseband changed from 21 to 00 which is what I wanted having my O2 Streak unlocked already, so thats good.

If I'm reading this right, I see two problems: 1) the fastboot file has no extension. it should be "fastboot.exe", not "fastboot"; 2) the file size is 0 bytes.
Try deleting the 0 byte "fastboot" file, re-extracting the "fastboot-windows.exe", and renaming to "fastboot.exe"
And to qisback: nice work! I appreciate your effort in explaining what you're actually doing. When I joined the unofficial android upgrade bandwagon a few months ago, I had a heck of a time, largely cause I didn't have a clue what i was trying to do, nor if i had completed each step successfully.
@The Monster I have to agree with Gtg203a the file doesn't seem to be correctly named it should have an "exe" extension and it's file size is 0k. As suggested a fresh download of the fastboot archive and extracting it as per my guide should sort the issue.
@gtg203a I'm glad you found the guide clear and informative, we've all been in a situation where a nice simple guide would be really handy which was the idea of this tutorial. I certainly know that I was in exactly the same place as you a few months ago.
I would normally try give more details and quote posts but as I'm away for a few days I'm using the XDA App and it seems to lack these quick functions or I can't find them and I don't fancy copying, pasting and writting quote tags on an android device (even if my phone does have a 5 foot screen and resembles a house brick).

Hi,
Yesterday my non-rooted (and non recovery enabled) Hero received an update from HTC which required a reboot. Since then the reboot can't get any further than the HTC welcome screen. I have now exhausted all attempts to revive it. I have tried the following:
1. Reboot into FASTBOOT mode and select <MENU> to reset the device
-didn't do anything but reboot phone to hanging HTC screen
2. Connect USB cable to PC, and run the RUU update
r-recognises the phone is connected but crashes when tries to install image
3. Extract rom.zip from RUU file and load on SDcard as HEROIMG.zip
- booting into HBOOT mode, screen just says that HEROIMG.zip not found
4. Created a different HEROIMG.zip from one of the custom ROMs
-same outcome as in bullet 3
5. Tried to connect to the phone using adb
-either when phone is in HBOOT mode or FASTBOOT USB mode, command "adb devices" just returns a blank, even though PC recognises phone is connected- other adb commands also fail with device not found
I'm now struggling for ideas of what to try next. Can't believe this is the death of the phone. Any advice?
Grateful for any ideas! Thanks

Here's what you do.
Download the file linked below
Download ODIN attached below
Once both are downloaded, extract PDA_SIGNED_P7105.tar
Boot your tablet into ODIN and plug it into your PC
Open the ODIN program on your PC and check the box next to PDA
Click the PDA button and navigate to the file you downloaded earlier
Press Start and let it flash
Once it is done, it will still boot loop.
You need to go into recovery (It will now be the default recovery) and wipe data/factory reset only.
Reboot and it should load up, however you will be on 3.0.1.
You can get back to 3.1 by rooting and installing recovery again or by using the update feature in the tablet's settings.
Good luck!

Hello, I have also followed these directions however I am having issues rebooting into recovery using adb.
When I execute adb devices no devices are found.
Any additional help would be appreciated. Thanks
UPDATE:
Success!! I was able to correct the boot loop problem by installing fastboot on a linux machine and running sudo fastboot -w. Also my tablet was in fastboot mode (Power + Volume down, then Select the usb symbol).
Instructions for installing fastboot were found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14675422&postcount=2
boot looping SOLVED! Honeycomb 3.1 google i/o galaxy tab 10.1
[IO TAB] Boot looping? Try this to get your tab back...
I had an issue with my IO 10.1 Tab boot looping. I imagine that this would work for retail as well but have not tried it.
This process will factory reset your device.
You will need fastboot and recovery.img to boot into recovery in order to perform a factory reset.
Fastboot & Stock IO recovery comes from this post as an attachment at the bottom.
You need adb to continue (windows).
1. Extract files to where adb resides (platform-tools folder in android SDk main folder) e.g
C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools .
2. Plug your tab in to a power source and then hold down the power button until it shuts down. Wait until the tab displays the charging battery.
3. Press and hold the volume down (left button in landscape) and power buttons until the usb and odin icons show up. Volume down to move left and volume up to select the usb logo. Now you should be in fastboot. Plug the usb into your computer.
4. Time to fire up adb!
Start / run / cmd , cd\,
Than, cd to your platform-tools folder or wherever your adb is at. (should be in platform-tools inside of android-sdk-windows)
5. In cmd type "adb start-server" without quotes to start adb. All comands should exclude quotes.
6. Type "fastboot devices" your device serial should appear! If not:
Edit the “<PATH TO ANDROID SDK>\extras\google\usb_driver\android_winusb.inf” file and copy/paste the following lines and add them to the [Google.NTx86] section (for 32bit Windows) and/or [Google.NTamd64] (for 64bit Windows).
NO Empty line above this set, though galaxy tab 10.1v but works for all variants!(tab detected as adb xxx device)
;Galaxy Tab 10.1v
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_04E8&PID_6860&REV_9999&MI_01
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_04E8&PID_6860&MI_01
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_04E8&PID_6601
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0955&PID_7000
;
Download the fastboot zip attached to this post (includes both Win and Linux version) and extract the files to your “<PATH TO ANDROID SDK>\platform-tools” folder
7. Now, type "fastboot boot recovery.img"
8. Now you should boot into recovery. For "adb command lines" to work boot with clockworkmod recovery img (Command and files here: http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/?p=2032)
If you want to try other stuff like push a system restore, kernel or whatever, now you can. If you fail at it, you can always repeat the steps leading up to this point to get back to recovery.
9. Time to just get the tab back! Select "wipe data/factory reset" and confirm, clear cache.
10. After that is done select "reboot device".
Credits to JASKRU from rootwiki, with some additions and modifications extracted from different sources!
for rooting the tab install the zip file from this post in recovery mode (loading recovery.img from fastboot):
http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/?p=2054
P.S don't reboot into recovery with adb command "adb reboot recovery" as it doesn't work, correct way is with fastboot command as mentioned in step 7!
'fastboot' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
FIRST STEP: add the attached fastboot files into the container folder of adb (in sdk folder)
This is mine:
C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools
of course I did that and mine is in the same folder as yours
I get to step six and thats when it gives me the error
E:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools>fast boot devices
'fast' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
also when I go to the left instead of odin this is my pic (in attachment)
NOW if I hit the power button and the right on in landscape mode I do get the android system recovery options says Android System Recovery <3e> (pic attached)
I have tried wiping date clearing cache as far as fastboot goes it still doesnt let me in fastboot eventhough im not sure at this point what fastboot even is
I finally got CWM 4.0.0.4 on it but now what because somehow im on 3.0.1 on my tab it wont charge and idk what to do
These steps were tested on 3.1.can you update your firmware from kies or on device?fastboot is needed to boot into the recovery image as in your pic which you already have managed being in older firmware.
E:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools>fast boot devices
I believe something is still wrong, did you extract the contents of zip file in the platform-tools or the complete folder?Second, how was your tab once in fastboot recongnized by windows it should be as an adb. Device and not fastboot. Third, try manually installing the driver from extras folder, google, usb in android sdk. Last is your system 64bit or 32bit as the modification in inf file should be made accordingly. The only issue is driver or fastboot exe not being in adb folder.
Adding, once in recovery as in the pic, try command adb devices and let know if your device is detected hence you can push a restore fileto your device and reboot or push original recovery.zip file and apply it from sdcard (internal memory).
Last try odin option and flash firmware as tar file mentioned in this forum, try the bootloop or blank screen threads.
tried this route but it cannot find my device via ADB - used the PDANet driver - note i did not get a driver in the extras folder
ideas?

solved my problem -
first fastboot.exe is located in the android-sdk\tools directory. i copied it to my android-sdk\platform-tools directory
Then i get into the tablet's fastboot mode (holding down power + volume down, then select the USB icon) i plug in the cable to my PC's USB, then go to device manager and you should see a fastboot device with an exclamation mark. right click on this and select update driver then navigate to android-sdk\extras\google\usb_driver directory and select android_winusb.inf - it should now install the driver
open up a cmd window and follow the instructions highlighted above starting at step 7

IN Short, follow the steps in my previous post from 1st till end! Flashing the bootloader file from my thread in development section, is easiest way. Replacing fastboot with recovery option in bootscreen solves many issues for non-developers!
yes and i should add your method was very effective ! thanks
what threw me off initially was not finding the fastboot.exe which was in a different folder and the usbdriver - which needed to be installed separately and can be found by launching SDK manager, selecting Available packages-Third-party Add ons-Google Inc - Google USB Driver Package revision 4

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 boot loop
Edit: *Fixed!* Ok, so here is my advice to all you other noobs who bricked your tablet, be AWARE that your tablet actually is conscious, it chooses when it wants to work. Just do everything it says on here, all the fixes I have listed, reboot a bunch of times, yell at it, and when you cry a true tear of pain and remorse, and it splashes down on the surface, it will recognize this and all of a sudden work. Booted to 3.0.1 and going to update, that all that is holy.
Hi Guys, I am having the same problem and need some expert advice please, I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with Android Honeycomb 3.1, running Windows XP Pro SP3
I've gone over every solution to this problem on xda over two days and none have worked for me, either that or i'm not doing it correctly.
I successfully rooted my Tab a few days ago, then tried to install a 'boosted' theme and everything is messed up now. When I boot it just hangs on the samsung loading screen, and it reboots to the same screen.
I have tried wiping data/factory reset in cwm
I have tried wiping cache partition
I have tried running Odin through downloading mode
I have adb and fastboot installed on my computer
I have Samsung Android adb interface driver in Device Manager
I have PDAnet installed
When I boot holding the volume down and power button to get the two options, the only two options I have are the Odin Downloading green guy on the right, and an icon with a box and an arrow coming out of it that takes me to CWM on the left.
So I cannot choose fastboot mode on the Tab, when I try to run 'fastboot flash system new.img' through cmd.exe it just says < waiting for device >
I"m a total noob to this and should have left well enough alone when I successfully rooted it, i'm sure I must be just missing a small step, if I could get a bit of guidance it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Hi All,
I've been using CM7 on my HTC aria for more than an year without any problems. yesterday i decided to do S-OFF my phone and followed the below mentioned steps
Post#84 of the following linkhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122574&page=9
For windows users using CM7:
Note 1: This is assuming you already have the SDK installed and know how to use ADB, that you have CM7 installed.
Prerequisites:
- USBDeview - http://download.cnet.com/USBDeview/3...-10614190.html
- HTC Sync - http://www.htc.com/www/SupportViewNe...73&news_id=907
- clockwork2501.zip - http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...5&d=1305031790
- fastboot - http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...9&d=1230278653
- HTC Aria 2.2 - http://member.america.htc.com/downlo...ROM_Update.exe
alpharevx - http://alpharev.nl/x/beta/
1. Download all of the items listed above.
1a. Make a NANDROID backup!!!
2. USBDeview...delete (uninstall) all HTC related drivers.
3. Install HTC Sync
4. Plug phone in and allow windows to install the drivers.
5. Boot into fastboot (while powered down, press and HOLD trackball button and power button).
6. plug phone in to computer and run the HTC Aria for ATT Android 2.2 ROM Update (2.2 RUU).
7. Once you get 2.2 installed, and booted into the ROM, run the alpharevx executable.
8. It should notice your phone right away (make sure USB Debugging is enabled!!) and do it's thing, and then ask you for your beta key (get it from website, with your serial number) and then it will reboot a couple times and you're good to go.
9. Once you've got your S-OFF, boot into the ROM.
10. Place fastboot.exe and clockwork2501.zip into the folder where alpharevx.exe is (if you don't do this, you'll get an error about a missing .DLL (which happens to be included in the alpharevx download)).
11a. Open up command prompt and change directory ("cd") to your tools folder for Android SDK. Run the first command under step 12 (adb reboot bootloader)
11b. Open up command prompt and change directory ("cd") to wherever your fastboot.exe is (i.e. cd c:\users\username\desktop\alpharevx). Now run the rest of the commands under step 12.
12. Run the following commands:
Code:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip clockwork2501.zip
fastboot reboot
12a. After "fastboot oem rebootRUU" your phone will be stuck at an HTC screen. This is when you should type the next command.
13. You should now be able to get into clockwork and restore your nandroid.
14. Boot into your CM7 and enjoy your S-OFF
This is going off of sheer memory but I am pretty sure it's exactly how i did it. If I have missed any steps or said anything wrong, someone feel free to correct me. If you have any questions, as always, feel free to ask.
Again, enjoy
+1 to alpharev team and whomever else made this possible!

Code:
fastboot flash zip clockwork2501.zip
Code:
Error message:
[COLOR="Red"]FAILED (remote: 51 partition update fail)[/COLOR]

thanks for your reply.
how do i check about fastboot? (tell me some commands that can run & check)
all i can say is, i'm not able to goto boot options-recovery (i.e clockworkmod). Before doing S-OFF,i had done a nandroid backup which i want to restore now.
I've tried many times to run "fastboot flash zip clockwork2501.zip". and also tried to download different version of clockworkmod recovery from the below link (for htc aria). none of them seem to work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14693680&postcount=1
Open the clockwork2501.zip (from your computer) and extract the contents. You want the recovery.img file that is inside the zip file. Then, while the phone is in FASTBOOT mode and USB cable connected to computer, issue:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
If you don't know how to get to fastboot mode, the easiest way is to completely turn the phone off (pull battery if necessary), then hold down the trackball button and press power button, then release trackball button after the screen turns on.
the problem is i'm not able to get into either fastboot or hboot recovery bootscreen.
i took off battery, then hold down trackball , then pressed power button. still i get a black screen with "HTC" in the middle and "warning" triangles at the corners.
i took off battery, then hold 'volume -' button and then pressed power button. still i boot only into black screen with 'HTC' in the middle and triangles at four corners.
i get a feel that i still didn't install clockwork successfully. but the only problem is i couldn't figure out how to flash clockwork recovery. every time i try fastboot commands
Code:
fastboot flash zip clockwork2501.zip
or
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Just to make sure, you are continuing to hold down the 'volume -' button even after pressing power button, right? Don't let go too early. Also, make sure the USB cable is NOT plugged in while doing this. Plug the USB cable in after you're already in HBOOT or FASTBOOT.
If you're still having problems, I'd suggest attempting to run the official 2.2.2 RUU on your phone to see if it can revert your phone to a working state.

awesome! i re-installed HTC sync and ran the official 2.2.2 RUU exe file. viola i'm able to go into 2.2.2 and make calls , send text etc!! But, i still love my CM7. so i decided to do 'nandroid restore'. but i couldn't get into clockworkmod recovery screen
when i hold 'volume -' button and power on i see the following
Code:
LIBERTY PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT -6.02.1002
MICROP-031B
TOUCH PANEL-STN21_03
RADIO-7.16.35.11
NOV 4 2010,23:12:58
HBOOT
RECOVERY
SIMLOCK ..
When i use volume keys and come down to 'RECOVERY' and press power button, i get some error screen (a black screen showing a small phone picture and a red triangle with exclamation mark).
i then tried the below two options.
1. rebooted the phone into 2.2.2 OS. enabled USB Debugging. Ran revolutionary.exe (it was handing in first step with message waiting for device) for a very long time. 15 mins after which i killed that in task manager.
2. rebooted phone. when into HBOOT. (waited for SD card diagnosis and then selected HBOOT via volume keys and then pressed power button). then connected USB cable and executed the following commands
Code:
c:\Downloads\HTC aria\Jun 2012\revolutionary-0.4pre4>fastboot flash zip clockwork2501.zip
< waiting for device >
^C
c:\Downloads\HTC aria\Jun 2012\revolutionary-0.4pre4>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
< waiting for device >
^C
looks like i'm still not able to goto clockwork recovery/ and do nandroid restore.

Yeah, sorry if I wasn't clear, but even if you had CWM installed earlier, running the 2.2.2 RUU will remove it and bring you back to stock. I just told you to use the 2.2.2 RUU to bring the phone back to a working state. However, the RUU will NOT remove S-OFF, which is good.
The next step is to install CWM. I advise you to install the latest version, NOT the one you were previously using. The nandroid backup should still work fine. Here's what you should do:
Download 5.0.2.8 recovery (or a different one of your choice) here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25490394&postcount=66
Put your phone into FASTBOOT, then connect USB cable, and then do:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery filename.img

Many Many thanks drumist. yes as soon as i tried recent CWM things started to work (i tried 5.0.2.8). now i'm doing nandroid restore. i will do some basic checking tonight and report back tomorrow(tomorrow i will mark the thread resolved). i'm pretty confident everything should be okay.
Hey, I have an Archos Helium 45 that I put a custom ROM on a while ago, but today decided to revert to the stock ROM because it was having some issues. I must have done something wrong though, and softbricked my phone. Now this would be no problem if only I could enter recovery mode, however when I boot up my phone holding down the +volume and power button, all I get is a green screen, which is the fastboot mode. On this screen there is nothing I can select (just seems to be some tiny tiny white, unreadable text on the top). I'm guessing this is because I installed TWRP over the regular recovery.
When I first installed the custom ROM, I did something wrong and softbricked my phone too, and had the same problem of not being able to select anything on the green screen, but then I was able to use the command 'adb reboot recovery' via the PC to boot into recovery mode. However, now this does not work anymore, and when using 'adb devices', it returns an empty list. I still do get a code when using 'fastboot devices' though.
Does anyone have any solution to boot into recovery mode from the fastboot mode?
I read somewhere that I could try flashing the img files from the original ROM via fastboot one by one, however the only img file in ROM's zip file is boot.img.
I also tried updating the ROM using 'fastboot update update.zip' but then it says
Code:
archive does not contain 'android-info.txt'
error: update package 'update.zip' has no android-info.txt
Edit: Never mind, right after creating this thread I found out I could enter recovery mode simply by continuing to hold the +volume button and releasing the power button after the green screen... (and I also plugged it into my computer right when TWRP started, don't know if this was a requirement or coincidence) **** I spent all day looking for a fix and ended up finding it just by trying something.
I'm having issues with the stock ROM though, but at least I can install an other custom ROM and have a working phone.
