8gb SD used for a2sd...
started to go put a new rom on to my sd card the other day and it froze (copying) about half way through. tried again same thing... so i tried seeing if i could remove stuff off my SD card so i selected everything on it and hit delete and it appeared to be deleted... closed out the window and re opened it and everything was there again. i was able to browse through all the files and even pull my pictures and songs off of the card. so i put it back in my Eris and went to format it, i clicked Format in the options and it just went back to the home screen. So i put it in my Storm and it was unable to format it... So then i attempted to format through windows and it kept telling me it was unable to.. so i opened Paragon Partition Manager and tried removing the partitons and formating through it but i couldnt. I then ran chdsk through cmd... And yep, still nothing
Sooooo i gave up on widnows and booted up Ubuntu... i tried everything i could think of in terminal and through the built in Disk Utility and even gparted...
Disk Utility: Showed i could delete all partitions and format but they would reappear. Ext3 filesystem was unclean. "Lost+found" file inside Ext3 partition is corrupt
Gparted: Unable to satisfy all constraints
Terminal: tried everything i could think of including writing zeroes to the drive...
still though all the files remain on the SD card along with the partitions... Should i just give in and take it up to Verizon and see if i can bum a new one off them or does anyone else have some miraculous trick i should try that will automagically fix this shyt...
p.s. and ive searched on this for about a week now... no post i can find that help's

I did a right click in Windows then clicked format, which Ive done before, but I canceled the format and now the phone nor the computer is recognizing the SD card. Ive tried reformatting with windows again, but to no avail. Ive read a few posts referring to this one program that was supposed to be great for formatting in FAT32, but for the life of me I cant find it.
Any thoughts on this one? I can imagine its not the best thing in the world to cancel mid-format....
Thanks in advance guys.
Ok looks like the plot might have thickened. I exchanged the 2GB SD card from my G1 to the HD2 and windows is not recognizing that one when I mount it as a storage device. Im using Chucky's rom which comes with the WM5torage program to mount as mass storage device.
It does however recognize the 2GB one when I dont use it as a mount storage device and just click on the Chucky Rom icon in "My computer."
This might be of no use and completely unrelated, but Im just calling it like Im seeing it.
Figured it out...thanks
Ok I didnt figure it out. The phone is now recognizing the card, but I dont think its formatted to FAT32. Windows format wont do it. Format program included on Chucky's Rom wont do it. Ive loaded Darkstones Android on the card and have tried booting, but it gets stuck at what I believe is the data store part.
It says: Failed to mount the SD card. Cannot continue. cant access tty; job control turned off
Then its creating line by line the data store (I think) infinitely like this:
102.9012851] ACR=4093 FL=1256 RAAC=91
153.9813371] ACR=4093 FL=1256 RAAC=91
203.9012351] ACR=4093 FL=1256 RAAC=91
253.9019381] ACR=4093 FL=1256 RAAC=91
303.9812351] ACR=4093 FL=1256 RAAC=91
Its been doing this for an hour or so.
Any Ideas?
Anybody have any idea?
Ive also tried formatting with Panasonics SDFormatter V2.0. That was the program I couldnt remember the name of above in the first post.
Have you tried to reformat it inside the phone?
I know I had a sdcard in my old G1 that for some reason my PC would never detect...one day I said to hell with it and used the phone to format the SD card...never had a problem after that (back up any photos to dropbox or something)

Sure have. Im really at a loss. Ive tried the reformat w/chuckyrom's program, G1 default program, and some random Samsung phone default. On top of that Ive used the Panasonic's SDFormatter V2.0 and windows default.
Obviously its not the random programs Ive used thats at fault. Somehow when I canceled the reformat process when this whole thing started, it changed something about how the SD card is read.
Also, when I mount it it Windows recognizes it as 16GB, BUT when I load it up in the SDFormatter program it'll say 124KB for the size and "device type not supported" and wont let me format at all. I dunno man
Bump bump bump
Hi, I have an HTC HD2 which I recently upgraded it rom ver. 1.66.415.9. I used spb backup to get my main memory files. Somehow, in a way, I was able to get all of my files anfd programs with windows settings and registry using ROM upgrade mode without changing the rom version back to the old one. But the then when I took pictures then tried to open them in albums, they weren't saved. A probition sign (circle-backslash "no" sign) showed up. I tried to open it but an error shows up saying "unable to open this type of jpg file" and then the sign diappears, as if the image wasn't saved. I even tried saving a note file. After saving, I opened it but instead of showing the notes I wrote, symbol characters showed up as if the file was encrypted. After rebooting my mobile, the note file wasn't there. I still have enough storage space to save more files and pictures. Did anybody face the same problem that I did? Please help me and thank you in advance.
Can anyone please help me? This is really stopping me from being productive!
i would suspect the file associations / locations have been corrupted, probably by restoring the registry from a different rom.
(Registry really ought only to be copied over to fresh resets of the same rom, not new roms. It can be done, but its prone to issues just as you describe)
AND/OR
the image library files have become corrupted. Look in your image folders, and delete album.cache files. They will be automatically rebuilt.
I would try to consolidate what you have as it is now, if your files are all there, and your contacts are there, backup your contacts by some means, ensure all your files are on the sd card, and hard reset.
I have hard reset my mobile a couple of times, even before restoring the pim data without the system settings, the camera would take a picture but the picture wouldn't be saved on the sd. But after I restored everything, I thought of uninstalling resco file explorer (thinking that it was the problem) and deleting the library files, but nothing changed. But when I thought of formatting the sd card, I tried to reinstall resco explorer as it has a formatting feature. At first when I tried to install it to the sd card, it failed to install, but it was installed successfully in main phone memory. I opened resco and went to the formatting option. Once I started formatting, an error messege appears saying "Failed to format sd card. Please make sure that the sd card is not locked." Does this mean that if I formatted my sd card, the problem would be fixed? BTW, my sd is on a FAT sytem. To which type should I format the sd?
Thanks in advance
hmmm sounds like a funny sd card then.
use fat32
Seems to be the sd-card.
When I upgraded my ROM from 1.48 to 1.66 I restored main mem with everything with SPB-backup-file and everything worked fine from the beginning (except in setting tab still shows the info that old 1.48 ROM is installed).
Hope You made a backup of Your sd-card. So format sd on PC and copy back all files, should work then....... hopefully .......
ok now that's just wierd! I tried formatting the sd using the laptops card reader with the micro sd adapter, but an error appeared saying "Windows was unable to complete the format". I tried deleting the files but the laptop froze. I had to remove the sd to get it back working. Then I used a usb card reader. Some problem. Finally, I used the phone via the usb to format the sd. The error appeared again, but there was no problem when delelting the files. But after I tried reformatting it, the error appeared and the files on it also! It's as if there's a lock switch inside which the micro sd shouldn't have. What should I do in this case? Is there a program or a file that can unlock it?
Thanks in advance.
This is really irritating. My card doesn't allow me to save or delete anything. Formatting didn't work. I even tried a program to detect a fault on it but nothing shows up. All formatting programs freeze when I start formatting my card. Deleting any file doesn't work as it is restored after resetting my mobile, and finally, no body has faced such a problem. What should I do?
My Vibrant's internal sdcard was reporting corruption, so I put a fresh ROM (Macnut 12) on the external SD, rebooted into Clockwork, and formatted the SDcard, system & data partitions. Then went to install the ROM, but it turned out it wouldn't recognize the ext-sd card either! I get this error when i try to mount:
Code:
E:INFO is WRONGError mounting SDEXT:!
I've tried a different ext-sd, and even tried formatting that one on the computer (MBR partition scheme, FAT partition). Nothing is recognized by the phone.
Also when I try "mount USB storage" nothing shows up on my desktop either.
SO: I have an almost empty phone, and no way of putting any ROM whatsoever on there. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
note: i have a Mac, so AFAIK ODIN doesn't work for me.
I'm in "Clockwork 2.5.1.0 lagfix edition", and was previously rocking Eugene's Macnut R12 with the JFS+RFS lagfix.
thanks!

I also use a mac. You need to be careful how you delete and format your sd cards. I just deleted some stuff off my sd card by dragging it into the trash and it didnt free up any space on the sd card. I have also seen problems with formatting them with the mac also. Also ODIN is a great way to put things back to stock. you will need to use bootcamp to install windows on the partition. If I weere you I would still ODIN back to stock and reflash to make sure you dont have errors in the future
Format sd card through clockworkmod recovery. Itll wipe everything, but it should bring it back to being usable. Also heimdall works with mac right? I havent used heimdall but read its an open source rom flasher replacement for odin.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I was going to suggest Heimdall as well. You should be able to flash back to a stock firmware, then sort things out from there. If you want to do that and then report back here, we could help from there.
Information about Heimdall is available in this thread along with a link to download the program.
Good luck.
Hey so I've been trying to find a solution to this problem for a while now and I can't seem to find anything to fix it.
So I went to format my SD card through my phone (I am running Liquid's ICS rom atm). I went into settings > storage > erase sd card, and followed through on everything. After I accepted that my stuff would be lost I got a notification saying the SD Card is safe to remove, and in storage it gives me the option to Mount the SD Card.
However, when I press mount it acts like it is mounting for like half a second then quickly just says it is safe to remove and the mount button is clickable again. No matter how many times I click it, it will just do the same thing.
I tried booting into recovery and mounting it through there and formatting it and other nonsense and it just says error mounting sd card.
I have also taken out my battery and sd card and left it for like 10 minutes and tried again. Still nothing.
The only thing I haven't tried doing yet is putting it into a computer to manually format it that way, but I don't have a device to be able to do that at the moment so I am looking for a way to solve this without having to drive 23 miles to the nearest electronics store to fix this.
I don't think my SD card is corrupt, I mean it was working perfectly (it is a 32gb card from Verizon when I got the TB) and it just started doing this after I tried to format it through the ROM.
Any ideas?
EDIT:
HEY! So holy **** I had a little bit of a moment there. Anyway, I solved the problem on my own. So what I did was boot into recovery, and partition the SD Card under the Advance option. I just did the first setting for each so my operation was like this: Recovery > Advance > Partition SD Card > (Power button for whatever the first option was until it started partitioning).
After that I tried mounting the SD card and it didn't give me an error. So I went into the recovery settings to format the sd card (still in CWM recovery) and after it formatted I booted up and sure enough to worked!
So this thread can be deleted or locked or whatever. Other people may run into this problem and this worked for me so yea.
Thanks for the thread space lol
Have you tried 4ext Recovery?
Edit -- Nvm. I just went in and did a factory reset. Pretty sad since I hadnt backed up in about 2 weeks. My loss. My stupiditiy. Learn form our mistakes.
After the factory reset, I can view my SD card again which is pretty nice, so not a total loss.

Alright. A little about my phone. Its a Galaxy s5 with an 8gb micro sd card. The phone is rooted.
Last night I installed Apps2sd. When I first opened the app it mentioned that my SD card was not setup and I would need to run some "sd fix". I accepted, the phone rebooted and then when it came back up, its as if my SD card was blank. Not only blank, but after connecting phone to the PC, both my phone and card show but are empty. The SD card displays as -1376256 bytes free of -1376256 bytes. The phone shows 127mb free of 128mb.
I also made the mistake of uninstalled apps2sd after my phone booted up and I noticed the issue. Wasnt very smart of me as I can not seem to install it or anything back. Most apps including google play just crash when trying to load. When vieiwng files under My Files, basically everything is empty. If I try using FX file manager then most things say I dont have access.
Now when I first turn on phone and I boot into safestrap TWRP, I can go through and view files and I See all my stuff on my SD card and phone. I can even copy files from my SD card and place them in other directories (tried to copy the apps2sd apk onto phone to reinstall) but just cant ever see any of it when the phone is booted.
Also under TWRP, If I go to backup or anything for example, It lists Micro SD as 2132mb and Internal Storage as 3436mb. So im guessing apps2sd created a partition of some sort?
What have I done? What did my stupid ass do and is there any way to fix it?
tl;dr: Installed apps2sd, clicked things I shouldnt click. Cant view any files on phone or when connected to USB but can see everything under TWRP.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!
