Our company is moving to Verizon and they told us that we could use our existing sprint phones if we could make them work on Verizon network. I wanted to know if the stock verizon rom would work on the sprint touch pro. Our owner does not want to use a custom rom.
thanks in advance, and i apologize if this has already been answered but i could not find it anywhere.

The ROM is the least of your concerns. The real issue is getting VZW to add your MEID to their DMD so it can be activated. The alternative to doing this isn't legal and is even more difficult. There was once someone here on these forums who know how and had access to add records to the DMD, but I haven't heard from him in at least a year. I would love to hear from the individual (or someone else willing and able) again.
we were given the go ahead from the business account manager that if we could make them work they will allow it. The phones we have are actually generic cdma phones that operate on the sprint network through beyond mobile (an mvno similar to kricket)

If the phones are unbranded, you should have no issues with VZW adding the ESN numbers to their dB. I guess the best way to find out would be by calling VZW and finding out. Good luck.

Okay
I bought the htc touch pro sprint version off a good deal. I used the elite team unlocker and I tossed the vzw leaked rom on the touch pro. Installation of the leaked rom went fairly well, and I thought I was ready to get this device connected via vzw network. I called vzw 3 times, went to 3 different stores, all have the same answer.
They cannot add the esn to their database. So my question is - what's the workaround regarding that policy? Do I have a very expensive alarm on my hands or is there something that can be done?
btw I haven't unlocked the msl code and I put the sprint rom (stock rom) back on the device to start fresh. Bear in mind I tried Getspc and I found that didn't work too well. I also tried QPST on vista and windows xp and the same popup on both machines came up (installing new drivers, please select driver location) to try and change the msl.
Any other thoughts or a good direction of where to go? I tried going to mobile files and I got an okay understanding of it, but an issue is well...I'm not sure of what to do.
I know there was a thread in the diamond forum to change the esn and I think that would be a good idea, what are your thoughts on it? Is it a good idea? Did I just open up pandora's box?
Try this
Go to forum.ppcgeeks.com
I believe I read something similar to this on that site. Don't know about the solution, but they are more advanced in dealing with the CDMA Pro, as they appear to have had it longer.
Sorry I couldnt help more. So Much for the Open Network Verizon promised.
Carriers sometimes are just a BIG Joke.
yeah I was reading two topics started by one guy...seems he went through the same drama that i went through
so I'm thinking from the discussion the only way would be to send the phone to verizon and I don't want to do that honestly
Dont
Don't Do it, and Verizon would rather you bu their own touch Pro when it gets released
Unless you can edit/spoof a Verizon ESN I don't think it's possible currently. If you do manage to find a way to do that, you need to be careful as it's probably illegal (as the ESN could belong to someone else -- and I'm sure there's laws in place to "protect you") -- Guessing at least, IANAL
Yes, technically it is illegal to change the ESN of a phone, however, I know that there was a way to change it (at least for the Mogul).
its been done

trying it now and so far my results are exactly as advertised huzzah!
So what's the verdict? Success or Fail?

its my understanding that at this time vzn has suspended adding ESN's to there DMD. check the PPCgeeks post above your post and check to make sure though.
Yeah, I see they have some Sprint Touch Pro's on e-bay and I was thinking about getting one for my verizon account because they are cheaper and also I heard they have more processor memory or something. So does that no longer work, or can someone point me to a thread on this?
if you go to PPC geeks you can fint the post in the TP section.
I have a sprint touch pro on vzw network working perfectly using the above method a wile back, however 2 days ago i lost internet, and decided to activate an old phone and reactivate the touch pro to reset the internet settings on verizons network, when reactivating the sprint touch pro i was told the esn was invalad du to the fact that it was not 911 compadable,.. wich we allknow it is, but i believe verizon has just set their network to generate that error when a sprint esn is trying to be added, as of right now there is a truble ticken in with verizons it department but, im not very hopefull, i think my next step would be to clone an esn of a verizon phone i am not using, can anyone help me with that?
if it was anything close to what I had to do to get it on alltel, if you can get them to add the esn you may have to manually program it then add a prl then try *228 it....you do best to call vzw CS and tell them its theirs if they ask...
Can someone please help me I have a Touch Pro for sprint, but I recently changed to US cellular. Is there anyway I can use my phone on the US Cellular Network?
Probably not.. they only allow US Cellular branded phones on their network.

im a noob when it comes to flashing to another carrier. i have flashed over to the us cellular rom, but still get sprint when i dial out.
Load the latest PRL
http://corolada.com/prl/
I'm not sure if US cellular uses DMU key authentication, you might need to change that too. (i doubt it, but search google or something)
Also search google for threads on converting a sprint TP to verizon and you might find steps on how this is done although its a diff carrier.
does anybody have the DMU setting for US cellular or know if they use it?

no a key used.
for the settings check out http://sites.google.com/site/victorbush/htc-6800-1/epst-data-settings
The problem you will run into is that until they add your ESN into their system, no matter what you do the phone won't work on USCC.
Customer support won't activate a phone with an unknown ESN, they will require that you go to a store, and unless you can find a store with a tech who doesn't mind breaking the rules, you will never get it activated.
All roms for the most part are mostly universal, so putting on USCC's rom won't help, because the phone doesn't physically say USCC on it, when their actual phones do, will basically make it impossible to get accomplished.

I am receiving a US Cellular Touch Pro on Monday. People at the main US Cellular told me to buy one on Ebay lol. Well I did & will have the settings. Cant you just call in & give them the new ESN?

they do have a (white)list of their 'GOOD' ESN numbers, since HTC customizes the phone for them and will provide them a list of the ESN numbers sold...
YMMV to get a tech to activate an unknown ESN number... the system may not even allow it if it doesn't match the whitelist
im actually really interested in this... for my old Titan however, my sisters phone broke, and shes broke as well (har har), my old Titan still works fine, I want to give it to her and activate it on USCC but am running into the tech problem...
I second the interest, I have a Verizon Touch Pro that I am going to try and activate on US Cellular, the settings would be fantastic.

would this work the other way around (us cellular to sprint)?
You may have luck with USCC if you get a nice tech.. but you can NOT activate a non-sprint phone on sprint.. period... they are very particular about that.... & if you want a chance of activating your phone on USCC, have it all programmed for them before you even take it in.... that way they will see no major work needs to be done, and presto!
I can't seem to find an up-to-date tutorial on performing this process. I found some from mid-2009, but people are commenting that *228 doesn't work, this thing doesn't work anymore, that thing doesn't work anymore. Has anyone done this process recently?
I am trying to get this phone onto Verizon without a data plan since I will just be using wifi.
As far as I know, Sprint phones are GSM, VrzWls are CDMA. Totaly different frequencies. It is impossable (without an enginering degree and a lot of solder) to make one work on the others towers.

There are a lot of people on these forums that have done it - I just can't find concise up-to-date directions.
have you tried loading a verizon prl on the phone? i have my sprint tp on pageplus, which is a verizon mvno, and it wouldn't program ota until i loaded the prl.
I have not tried loading anything yet. I am still looking for directions that are not from 2008. Also, I have no interest in custom roms at this point. I simply want the Sprint phone to work on the Verizon with the least amount of work.

Step 1. Grab your phone and take it to a Verizon store to have it activated on their network...
End of subject
There are other things that you can do manually, but since the only thing you are interested in is to have the phone working for a different carrier, then that is all you need to do.

The only true part about Thelgord's statement is that Verizon is a CDMA network. Please don't pay attention at anything else in that statement.

What? I thought Verizon wouldn't do that. Plus, don't I need to convert radios and such from Sprint to Verizon?
First of all, let me say that I'm not trying to break any laws here. I am simply curious about some technical aspects.
Q: What kind of tweaks would be involved to make a CDMA phone from one carrier work with another CMDA carrier? E.G., A droid running on Sprint or an EVO on Virgin Mobile.
I started researching about this, but I can hardly find any info. Are unlocked phones not that popular anymore or do carriers just not support them?
From what I gathered, one would have to change PRLs, install new phone, telephony, and mms APKs, and probably change MEID/ ESN and possibly flash new radios and have an unlocked phone of course.
How close am I here?
TY in advance.

Unlocked phones are very popular but CDMA phones are not when it comes to unlocking. Ultimately you have to get the company to agreebto add the phone to its network which it has the right to refuse lt. You would need to change the ESN which is not legal anywhere and why you won't find the info on XDA.

So I looked around the threads on both Verizon, and Sprints side of the fences for an answer to this question and couldn't find any thing.
I have a Verizon Galaxy S3, and my contract with Verizon recently came to a close. I want to switch to sprint due to pricing and other options, but I don't have the money to drop on a new phone at the time, so I have been looking into unlocking the phone to work with Sprint, however I haven't much of luck...
That's when I came to XDA. While I was looking around the forum, I got to thinking.
Is there any possible way that I could take the Sprint version of the Samsung Galaxy S3's ROM, and load it onto my Verizon Galaxy? And has anyone tried this yet?
It's essentially the same hardware, right? To the best of my understanding, the only difference in the phones would be software related according to the carrier.
I am really struggling with this one, and I have witnessed the vast knowledge and great work by this forum before, so I am hoping I'll be able to find the help I need.

Verizon and Sprint do use the same cdma networks but will not activate each others devices on their network so the answer is no I do not think this is going to be possible for you.

Well I did talk to Sprint, and Sprint said they would be willing to activate an unlocked Galaxy. It's just the unlocking process that I am unsure of.
