[UTIL]Newest Slide Radio Update - myTouch 3G Slide Android Development

Hey guys, droppin in to add something to the forum real quick before bed..... I got my hands on the newest ESPRIMG.nbh and in messing with it i realized we all flashed that eng build in order to be able to flash custom ROMs etc. Well in doing so we also all downgraded our radio to 7.07.35.02S..... Well i doubt u guys remember but the newest Radio is 7.08.35.04S... Anyways, i built a new "SlideMeRoot3" and included the radio in the installation package as well as apps2sd but need to discuss it with Eugene before releasing it. Soooo i made a quick update package for u guys with the newest radio until then. Install as u would any custom ROM on slide by rebooting to stock recovery, applying update.zip to boot into our temp recovery, and apply .zip from SD. You can do this over any ROM so dont be alarmed, i just wanted to get us back up to par with the release build. So now we have the release ROM AND the release radio. You can expect all the same improvements as having the newest radio on any other device (increased battery life, signal strength etc) But dont quote me on that lol..... CR

Was a bit nervous by all the new screens when I applied this, just kept my hand off of the device until the reboot was completed. Looks good now though.

Hey ChiefzReloaded if you dont mind me asking how is that Froyo2slide treating you? I was afraid to root cause I didnt want to miss froyo but if you have a rom for it I'll happy too root now.

Interesting. I didn't know before now you could patch parts of the Android this way. VERY useful.
Does this mean that a rom could be made to upgrade to 2.2 that does not wipe your personal customizations, for example?

In ChiefzReloaded's sig it says he is using Froyo2slide alpha on his myslide. He said on twitter he was working on it. Just wondering how it's going.

Where it used to say 3G, now says H.
Ran a few speedtests, and I'm bankink avg. 6.5M down / 2.1 up.
Is this... *cough* 4G (HSDPA)???

Oh man that was smooth, flashed right on top of my current setup with no problems. Thank you for your efforts, I really appreciate it. I finally feel like I'm back in my Android element. Root is essential.

*Shrug* I'unno... I just keep my phone updated with what the Pro's put out.
It switches back to 3G sometimes, but majority so far, im in 'H'. (I hope TMo doesnt see this on their end and cut me)

Im betting the guys seeing the H are on the Legend ROM correct?? You guys prob had the same speeds before on the stock Rom just that there is no H icon in it..correct me if I'm wrong.

Lol! Thats what my touch pro 2 does is switch between 3G and H. Its just an htc thing to let you know you're switching between UMTS and HSPA. Both are 3G but HSPA is a bit faster.
but your speed indicates your on HSPA+ which is a good deal quicker than UMTS. Not really 4G but just as fast, technically it 3.75G. 4G just sounds better so most call it that...

Here is a link to a HSPA+ map of USA. It's a little hard to read exactly which cities but red dots are already HSPA+ and blue are coming soon. Kinda cool. It seems the link to the actual map is broken (at least I cannot access it from this computer).
