Installing Origional Recovery Image for Warrenty/OTA update - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I am just wondering, if I have a warranty claim, is it best to restore to the original rom and install the original rom?
When I first rooted my hero, I had a backup of the original Recovery Rom that i made using flash rec. So do I now do the same thing and install that backup using flash-rec (and original htc hero software) to have the phone in its original state? Or can i leave the recovery rom, and just install the origional files.
What I if I was to update my Hero OTA to 2.1 with the custom Recovery (amon-ra) still installed (but origional software)?? Will that cause a probelm

You can't receive OTA updates with custom Roms. It's disabled or you just can't.. dunno. To receive the 2.1 ota update go to HTC support site and install the current rom. Wait for the OTA message for the Youtube and FOTA upgrade and when it's done.. Wait patiently for the next OTA which is near the end of June.

Unable to restore using RUU

Here's my situation:
1. I flashed the RA recovery image awhile back. Tried using a custom ROM but it didn't work. So i continued to use the official ROM.
2. Now that the official 2.1 update has been released for my country(Singapore), i have tried to update but it stops at Verifying Signatures. (I presume it is because i'm using a RA recovery image, that's y i can't update right?)
3. I read up threads that said that using a RUU will restore the phone back to factory ROM.
4. Tried all the RUU .exe files found in Development, all the updates don't work. They all stop at Custom ID or something.
I lost my nandroid backup when i formatted my SD card as i totally forgot about that i have the backup recovery image in the SD card.
so is there any other solution to restore my phone to factory ROM so that i can update to the new official 2.1 update?

Umm. You aware you will lose root?
If you wish to lose root (you MAY be able to regain it, but don't count on it - see fake OTA method), then you will need to get a goldcard to fix custom ID problem.
But make sure you are flashing the correct Singapore ROM else you won't get it.
Why not wait a bit and get a rooted update.zip of this ROM? Up to you
ya i'm aware.
i just bypassed CID using goldcard and used this RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.66_WWE_test_signed_NoDriver.exe to update. now that i'm here, i saw that the SG OTA update thread. the guy is going to provide a nandroid backup of the SG ROM. so now i'm trying get back to the SG ROM.
any ideas how?
mods! u can close this thread already.
i already find my solution to my problem.

[Q] Recovery image

Is there one available yet? I got tap happy and did the ICS upgrade before running root keeper. I want to just flash the stock image, upgrade to .33, root, and then get ICS w/ rootkeeper.
When I had my Evo Shift once you updated to a new version you could no longer use a factory restore of a previous version(RUU or whatever HTC called it). Maybe that will change with the Prime but I would guess you would need a recovery image of ICS now that you updated.

4.1.2 ota update fail??

OK so im on STOCK, ROOTED using SuckItVerizon, i went to download this update OTA & when trying to install inside of TWRP it failed,so then i downloading Clockworkmod Recovery and it bassiclly did the same thing..(i thought it may of been the recovery i was using to flash it) HOW DO WE INSTALL the new 4.1.2 update that verizon just released WITHOUT Wiping,i dont have time to go back and set up my apps again, i just simply wanted to update the damn phone and its turned into an all day event..
You have to have stock recovery, can't use TWRP or CWM. However, beware, the update is hard bricking the device for some people (me included).
I "should" have my replacement Sat or Mon.

AT&T Software Update

I have rooted HTC One, I noticed a new software update was released by AT&T, and I wondered if it I updated it, would my root be gone? I tried to update it and after downloading the update, my phone restarted and booted into TWRP recovery and I rebooted and there was no update installed. Are any rooted HTC One users experiencing the same problem? What should I do, should i just forget about the OTA updates?

Anytime you root the phone it changes the stock recovery so when the OTA tries to run it fails because the recovery needed to do it is the stock one. Just wait for someone to post a updated ota that works with twrp.
For the most part, updates will be baked into roms so you won't need to take the OTA

On top of stock recovery, you need to have all stock apps present on the phone. They can be frozen, but they must be there. The first thing any official OTA does it check the signatures of all .apks it expects to find on the device--if any are missing, the update will abort. I learned today that when you unlock your bootloader, several HTC-specific applications are automatically deleted from the phone and this will prevent the phone from accepting the OTA. You'll need to either A) replace those apks, or B) flash a stock NAND backup, flash stock recovery, do the update, then re-flash custom recovery and continue on from there.

I installed it and it worked great. I have a unlocked bootloader but I am not rooted.
AT&T update file name and location?
Same experience. If I knew the location and file downloaded through AT&T Software Update, perhaps I could install it through TWRP. Anyone know? Tried?

no it will not work
Please...a little advice
Many thanks for all your help.
One question:
I have an HTC One (ATT) - SW Ver 1.26.502.10, bootloader unlocked, rooted, bloatware erased.
If I flash CM 10.1 - does this include the latest OTA update.
Many thanks

rooted stock ROM available for latest ota?

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, as I'm sure it has, but I can't find what I'm looking for.
My wife's DNA is on 2.07.605.1 710RD according to the about menu, it is rooted and s-off, with TWRP installed. She keeps getting an update notification but when we try to accept, it downloads, reboots to TWRP, shows a couple lines of script and goes to the TWRP home screen. No update occurs.
Is there a way to get the update to take or a ROM that is straight from the latest ota I can flash for her?
I would really like to avoid having to unroot or do a bunch of adb work, but will if I have to.
I'm hoping someone can post a link to a flashable zip for me that will make this easy?:fingers-crossed:
The update fails to install because you don't have the stock recovery.
Here is a stock, rooted, deodexed & odexed versions of the new ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2560010
Flash in twrp.
