Hey, I'm trying to upgrade my TelstraMod for Paul's MCR 2.1 Rom to his 2.2 Rom, but i've run into a bit of a problem. The /System/Customize folder seems to have been removed in 2.2..
All of the settings I was changing (UserAgent Strings, Bookmarks, Reported Model Numbers, etc) Were all in that folder in 2.1, so I'm wondering where all those settings shifted to in 2.2?
if anyone could point out which files those particular settings are located in 2.2, and what I need to do to change them, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
And yes, i know, First post. but I've done enough research and lurking beforehand to figure out that this is the place to put it, lol!

Nelson, there is a few month old utility that can extract an HTC ROM from the device directly to the SDcard. If you have the ROM (*.nbh) of your phone from your carrier then you could use a utility such as DogGuys Kitchen maker to decompile the ROM. What you usually only need is contained in the ..OEM\OPERATORS directory.
If you look at how existing kitchens (and a FAQ on kitchens) are set-up, you'll see that each carrier tends to have its own operators OEM that the end-users selects when building their ROM. Following those templates you can create your own with the files specific to your carrier, and add that to an existing kitchen. Once done, then you can then build your own ROM. Though, with that done, of course the language files for your new OS ROM will be english rather than spanish.
The other possible option is to provide your carrier's OS ROM to the forum here and one of us may have the chance to decompile the necessary files and provide a set-up for you.
...sorry, I'm travelling right now and don't have the chance to go into greater detail or updated links.
whoa! I think u went way over his (and my) head with that one...
I don't think he's looking to cook his own rom, he just wants to install one....and wants to know what info he needs to document before so he can reinstall it properly afterwards..
wow thanks Keystone...
although Dillsnik is right... i read the FAQ on kitchens an it doesn´t sound complicated... but i´m not sure if i´m capable of doing this...
however i will be reading more about this kitchens and cooking my own rom because it sounds very interesting that i can put only the programs i want (wich by the way it´s exactly what i´m looking for), so i´ll be witing here soon asking more questions...
by the way, the main propuse of this thread is still open... and the quistion is in the first post:

thanks for the quick response!!!!
guys, installing the official Sprint rom before your rom of choice allows your carrier settings to be maintained, so there is no need to back up any of that information. at WORST, you'll have to get your a-key reset, which is a quick call to verizon(or your carrier?). i've only had to do this once, and i've flashed my phone probably 25 times.
install olipro 2.4
run Official Sprint RUU
at 'Tap Here to Set Up Your Device' install your rom of choice
run carrier cab (if its not in the kitchen)
if you try to make a call and receive a 'your phone cannot be authenticated' message, call tech support and dont let them tell you anything, just say 'i had to do a hard reset and now my phone cant authenticate i need a new a-key please.' theyll tell you that its not necessary and will try to do it automatically, then if they cant theyll give you a new a-key and tell you how to apply it.
EDIT: there is no way to view your a-key, which is why you are unable to back it up and why backing up EPST settings is pointless for you.

Well, I think Keystone is trying to give you a safeguard. You likely have a ROM that nobody else has a copy of here, and I'd suggest you dump a backup copy of it before you do anything to your device, just in case.

We cant give a definite answer to that because we do not know how your carrier operates.
In theory, the actual Sprint update should backup your programming and restore it for you. I do understand you wanting to have a backup plan, but in that case, I would suggest you record everything.
Hello All,
First off I want to say I have done a lot of searching in this forum and many others concerning my problem. My problem is trying to switch the TF3D theme from the stock verizon theme to the original black. From what I have read, I have been instructed to dl Diamond TF3D Config Setup, which I did many times. It loads successfully, but when I launch the program it gives me an unexpected error message. Does anybody know what is going on and how I can fix it? Does it have to do with it being a verizon phone; ifso, how can I change my theme?
Thanks.
Hello Noobie
Yea you need to delete the tweaks and it should work. You should also switch your roms. Verison software is horrible-by far the worst. Very slow.
Thanks alot. Its just that one file within the cab right? So I would delete this before putting it on my phone and running it?
Also, I really do want to flash the ROM, but I'm still not sure which one to use. Any recommendations? Are they stable enough at least as much as the stock rom? I just don't want to flash a rom with hella stuff on it that takes up memory and compromises stability and reliability.
Thanks again.
You need to install .Net 3.5 in order for Diamond tweaks to work. Search for .net framework 3.5 and install that first.
i already intstalled 3.5. still did not work. but i have not tried deleting the tweak file. im just not sure if ineed to delet on my computer before i move the cab to my phone and run it.
hi guys can any one till me where can i downmoad the full file of .Net 3.5 ? i mean the 37mb file not the 2.6mb from microsoft website. i have internet only in my phone and i ca't have access to pc with internet. so if anyone can till me where to find the full size .net 3.5 to download i will be thankfull

Using tweaks
I stumbled across this zip file the other day.If u wana use the tweak just replace the tweaks.xml with this one. Im not sure who credit for this file belongs to. But if it is yours or u know whos it is let me know and i will definitely give credit where it's due.
help with themes
So have i been searching around for a while and have not been able to figure out what the hell i'm doing wrong...
i installed DiamondTF3d conf tool, i downloaded some themes (.cab(s)) but i was not able to find them while going through TF3D config. I'm sure it's something simple i'm not dong, any help would be appreciated.
well the one i used (the Htc black) was a .theme i think
Hi guys so i got a a US cellular ROM and used rstoyguy's blank kitchen from ppc. I took out all the unwanted programs that i dont need and i wanted to edit some registry, the thing is i couldn't find the hv files to edit. the reason for this is when i flash the phone using this ROM i edited and go to SMS/MMS and go to mms options i could get rid of USC in the servers tab. I know how to find it in the registry editor manually but what i want to do is to edit the registry in the actual rom so when i flash it to a phone the server tab in mms is already unlocked and doesn't show me USC. any ideas? or should i use another kitchen ?
In my GSM kitchen, I can inject registry changes in an .RGU file or .PROVXML file.
If your CDMA kitchen contains such files, you could look to inject your registry change that way.
Make sure to use a Text Editor that supports Unicode format as well.
HTH,
So my problem was the text editor. LOL i feel stupid now. thanks a bunch
Phone: Location Setting
Start-Phone-Menu-Options-Services-Location Settings-Get Settings
The location consent form has “US Cellular “ wording throughout the warning.
How do you edit this? I changed a lot of settings already but still no luck?
Why do you want to change that?
im just trying to make a generic rom. Without any trace of any other carrier. When you look at the USC ROM it seems to be one of the cleanest and easiest to modify, easy to understand. Once i finish this, this may help a lot of people who needs it. so please help me pls. Thats the only thing i need to take out. I found the registry in these files mxipupdate_oemoperators_104 and mxipupdate_oemoperators_106 but once i edit it just shows me a black box with scrolls on the side. I coudn't see the original consent like the once found in the registry. Instead it is blocked by another page. help thanks

Hello,
I installed Android 2.2 froyo Darkstone and was having issues booting into Android, as the phone would go straight to WinMo. So I installed the FD DroidBoot. I then read about jmz Android Dual-Boot which gives the option, and installed that, thinking it would get rid of the previous boot file. However, they are both running on start up, and I want to get rid of the first one, leaving only jmz Android Dual-Boot.
Both were cab files, is there a way to delete the FD DroidBoot so its not on my phone anymore?
Thanks in advance!
You have tried uninstalling the cab right??
I would have, but could not find it in Android. I ended up taking the SD card out and adjusting the registry in WinMo so it would not be included. I also deleted the folder in Program Files in WinMo.
Thanks for the help!

if you installed it in wm then you'd need to uninstall it in mw.......
just changing reg values and deleting files without uninstalling could lead to undesirable results.........
You might want to reinstall then uninstall properly......
You can find it under settings > manage applications........
iam sorry, but this thread made me laugh to tears
Hi all,
Two newbie questions:
1. I'm new to Android and am loving Calkulin+Clemsyn 1.5ghz Froyo Combo V6, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to use a keyboard other than the ones that come with the ROM. (Specifically, I want to use a Freedom Pro bluetooth keyboard.) I found:
"To use keyboards on this you need to either replace the TnT settings.apk with a standard one and then select the keyboard or move the keyboard's <keyboard app in question>.apk file form user/app to /system/app with a root capable file manager or on a pc with adb. This is standard on all TnT derivative ROMs."
at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1024120&page=34#,
but the first solution (replacing the settings apk) isn't working for me and I can't for the life of me find user/app or /system/app. Can somebody please explain how specifically to navigate to those folders? I've spent a lot of time trying to figure it out, but...well, newbie.
2. My other question is about the market. The developer thread where I got the ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1024120) says to "do the market fix procedure to enjoy all apps" after installing the ROM. But the market on my gtab looks functional when the ROM is installed. Is there something I should do to improve it (part three here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245 ? something else?), or is the instruction to do the market fix procedure outdated?
Thanks!
1. http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummie...2-04-replace-soft-keyboard-in-tnt-based-roms-
2. No.
Perfect, thanks!
Many thanks. I used your gtab for dummies site to get my gtab set up and install various ROM's, and it was fantastic. Even though I read everything through, I guess I'd forgotten that you addressed the keyboard issue in "How-To" (though I had gone back and checked "Common Issues" and "FAQ").
In case anybody else is having trouble getting their Freedom Pro bluetooth keyboard to work (I kept getting "paired but not connected"), the current user guide, which can be found at the Freedom Input website, lays out the procedure. (Sorry, I tried to post a link but I'm not allowed to do so yet.)
If you're using a TnT-based ROM, you'll need to follow the instructions to which goodintentions linked in the post above after you follow the instructions from Freedom Input.
I'm not much help on the Android forums yet, but if anybody needs instructions for how to load Pole Position on your Commodore 64, I'm your man.
