Could not send mp3s - Hero, G2 Touch Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone! I hope someone could help me. Here's my situation:
I can receive files just fine. I can also send photos via Photos application. However, I can't send mp3 files! I've tried sending it via EStrong File Explorer and Astro to no avail. I'm running the official 2.1 Hero Rom. I got the update yesterday by advancing date to July 10.
thanks in advance for the help!

I think I get it now. After playing around the settings, it seems that I can only transfer mp3s that are on the path declared at the Bluetooth Options of EStrongs File Explorer and it should not have any spaces in the filename. Same is true when using Astro -- whatever path is declared on EStrong File Explorer is what Astro uses.

[Q] Media apps can't find files

Hey Guys,
My English is not perfect, sorry about that. I think you could help me to solve this problem.
I have cyanogen 6 the final version on my mini pro and my media apps (like gallery 3d, or MIUI music) can't find any pictures or music from sd card. But these files are in the sd card - I can open it from my computer or Es File Explorer. One gallery app said that it can't find any photos from sd, because I have to get access for it, or something like that. I think this is because of the superuser app.
Thanks for the answers.
I had the same issue initially. A reinstall of the ROM fixed it though.
I tried this. First Gallery 3d was ok, but laiter it started showing ,,there are no items in your collection. I think the files in sd card are protected or something like that. But thank you Sideromelane for your trying to help. Any more idea?
Hey check if you have a file/folder named 'nomedia.' in your sd card. If yes delete it.
Worked for me.

Make sure you look for it with your PC, as it's a hidden android file and some android explorers won't show it, it's a file called .nomedia
check whether its excluded from media scan...
Yeah! I found the file with name .nomedia and deleted it. Now it works perfect!
Thank you guys for your help!

[Q] Searching files inside the phone

Hello!
This may sound like a dumb question but how do I search for a document (pdf, doc xls...) which I know is the SD card but I don't remember where exactly?
If use the search feature, even though I remember the file name, it wont find anything, is there a plugin or another app to install to be able to search for files on the phone?
I have an Xperia Mini Pro SK17i
If you do a search in the market for Explorer. Explorer will search both the files on the phone and the files on your memory card. Explorer is a free app. The makers of Explorer also have an app call Root Explorer which has further options for rooted phones. Both are great
Thank you!
But isn't it ironic that a Master of Search like Google didn't put a simple file search feature in his OS? :-/
I use astro file manager, pretty fast
I just downloaded File Expert which is a file explorer and allows you to create an FTP or Web server on the phone to access the file via wifi. Haven't tested yet but seems pretty cool

Hungama Music and Video app, How to import downloaded videos to pc? please help

help!!!!!!!
I have installed Hungama app from Google playstore now after that is downloaded some videos from this app and the video are there inside the application only,
then i installed ES file explorer where i can access the android/data/com.hungama.myplay.activity/files/video/.
inisde this folder all the videos can be found but the problem is that every video is having a filename with extension .cache
at first time when i entered to the folder and copied one from them and pasted there in same folder than moved the copy to another folder and renamed the filename by changing only its extension from .cache to .mp4 while having the app running in background, after renaming the file with .mp4 extension i tried to open it with MX video Player, it was played well without any buffering like an file in sdcard. i thought its easy, therefore selected all the files from that folder and copied them to another location in the sd card and tried to rename all files at once by changing their file extension from .cache to mp4 ,
But this time MX player and every mp4 player failed and now also no video is playing outside that particular app.
What could be the solution?? please post your suggestions soon,, and help!!!!
if possible can anyone here check this video file for the error why it cant be played after playing once in android MX player...

Tested on app version 5.2.18
When the app opens a .cache file, it "decrypts" it. When a file is decrypted, its name will have "decrypt" at the end
EX: encripted "audio_134298.cache"
decrypted "audio_134298decrypt.cache"
So, my solution was to download an FTP server on my phone, then connect to it through windows CMD and download the decrypted songs with a wildcard
(Make sure to CD into wherever you wanna download the songs first BEFORE doing the commands)
Code:
ftp -i
open
PHONE_IP PORT
cd Android/data/com.hungama.myplay.activity/files/track/
mget *decrypt.cache
mdelete *decrypt.cache
When I did the process described above, there were only 21 decrypted songs (Even though my library has +500 songs) (I don't know if the same 21-rule applies to videos), so you'll have to press PLAY (from the hungama app) 21 times, and then repeat the download process (mget and then mdelete to free up space)
After that's done, I fired up "Bulk Rename Utility" and changed all extensions to .mp3 (since I was converting music), and also removed the "decrypt" characters from the filenames.
But BEWARE, decrypted files are not the final form of the mp3; If you listen to them you will only hear giverish.
But at least we now have meta-data.
I would post a link to one of these files, but:
a) I don't have enough reputation to post links
b) Copyright
At this point it might just be better to write down a list of all your songs and re-download them from hungama<dot>com
Hope this helps
First of all navigate to the browser where it saves the file and Remove .nomedia File from that folder not browse the folder in MX or VLC and Enjoy the videos

It's not uncommon that an app creates files that other apps don't need to access, or shouldn't access.

Unable to open files from a network share, using ES Explorer Pro

Any time I try to open a text file, or other files such as cbr's, I get gerror messages that the file can't be found locally. Or when I try to install apps from apk's, I get an error that the file failed to copy. I'm not sure why this is, as I have never had these issues with ES Explorer Pro on any other devices. Usually I just tap the file I want to open, it caches locally and then opens. With the Mediapad I have to copy the files over to the tablet before I can use them. Which can take a long time if it requires several files.
Is there anything I can do to fix this, by changing permissions or whatever?
The same use case works fine for me but with FX File Explorer. Which is, imo, way better than ES. ES started fine, it was one of the first but went to the wrong direction, becoming over bloaded.

Can't open files from network shares in ES File Explorer - Failed to copy the file

I have used ES File Explorer pro on all my devices before getting the MediaPad M5, and I have been able to open files on network shares just by tapping them. This has been good for reading comics and magazines, playing music, sideloading apk's etc. But on the M5, any time I try to open a file, I get an error message "failed to copy file". So I have to physically copy files to the M5 and then open them from there. This isn't an issue with apk's but I have to locally store all the comics, mags and music.
Can anyone suggest a fix for this?
Just downloaded a file to from a website, used ES File Explorer Pro to copy it from the downloads folder on my device and paste it into a networked Windows shared folder. Everything went as expected.
Tried to copy the same file back to another folder on my device and I get the 'failed to copy the file' message. Which is annoying.
I can't rename files in a network folder either.
