I just extracted the radio 1.47.51.00 from the htc x7501 wm6 rom and packaged it so it only flashes the radio only. Please ensure if you want to use make sure your device is hardspl which you can find here:

I have flashed it twice now and both times without no probs only set back is that after the radio upgrade your device will hard reset and have to set up device again. I am using this radio with the latest dopod wm6 upgrade now.
Thanks to lpsi2000 for his help as well.

I bet your club doesn't do Guinness at £1.50 a pint.
if you haven't CID unlocked already (or if you have) if this has a new radio bootloader, (0108) your CID will be stuck from now on.
then again, it might not, I'll report back in the morning

1st post updated with radio 1.45.00.00
I have been using the 1.47.51.00 radio and so far not much difference between them although I think radio 1.45.00.00 has got a better 3g signal and vice versal with radio 1.45.00.00 has got a better gsm signal.
Both radios has got similar battery life in my own opinion and to fairly say that both radios are really good in terms of overall use with the athena

Question.
Before i go ahead and update (or use midgets hotly anticipated cooked ROM), does this X7501 radio ROM include the Video calling functions, or would that be the main ROM that includes that?

I have been using the x7501 radio rom thats in my sig and tested it with video call and it works, not that I have used it that much.
Cheers D.
I would assume then that the Radio ROM supports it, it may just be that the Main ROM has had those functions removed for the X7501.
I'll give it a go. Hopefully it will stop the problems I get when leaving a 3G area. Every time I do, i get no signal for around 10 seconds while it latches on to the 2G signal.
Of course, it could just be that T-mobile have crappy transmitters in my area.....
Lets face it. The new radio sucks horribly. The leaked Rom is very bad as well. Countless problems for almost everyone. Has anyone extracted the gps drivers? I would kill to go back to the 2.17 sprint rom with the gps added on.
Won't work you need the new radio, and rom.
Mine is working without any problems, and the radio is great.

well, the new radio is a BETA after all. and i havent had any problems with it. The new radio is what enables the GPS in the phone, and the 3.16 based roms have the drivers that are needed for gps. so these go hand in hand. you need em both for gps.

No problems for me, works great and couldn't be happier with everyones work on getting the GPS and Rev A to work. I appreciate all the work that people are putting in to get all this going. I guess you'll just have to wait until your carrier releases their updated ROM with GPS enabled, maybe that will be less problematic for you.
I am betting when this is released there will be a newer radio, this is a beta and the radio is at least a couple of months old, I am sure they have done some tweaking since then, at least if they are seeing the same issues one would hope they have tweaked a bit more here and there.
Same goes for the rom piece of it it is an old beta as well they are both 2 months old, so whatever Sprint and/or HTC has been doing for the past 2 months is unknown.
You Sprint folks should all be happy to me it seems Sprint is the only provider that gives half a rats ass. On Telus the last rom came out back in the beginning of July and none of the other Canadian providers that carry this phone have provided any updates whatsoever.
As Fallingup said this is a beta and the issues we are seeing from the radio patch exhibit normal BETA behavior...
Hell even HTC is convinced the Radio isn't ready for Primetime and keep delaying the release! That says to me they have hit some roadblocks they are having trouble dealing with.
It would not surprise me at all if HTC consciously decided to leak this radio so that the community could take a crack at solving those issues and give them some ideas on how to fix the patch.
I am hoping someone in the community is looking at this beta version of radio and looking for ways to improve that....
Cause I'm betting the second someone can tweak that radio to work well, HTC will take that file and use it as a roadmap for an official release!

the actual results are somewhere in between...the ones with zero issues either don't use data connect extensively or haven't really run everything through it's paces. How could they the ROM is only a day old! LOL
Others just have issues with the 6.1 OS and still others have issues just flashing. The latter is simply user error and that will always be there no way around that. You have to know those issues will show up even if the perfectly stable ROM gets released.
The Radio is IMO definitly not ready for prime time. between the BT issues, Data Connect and the problem of having to prime the GPS before a navigation software like TomTom can use it there will have to be another update to the radio ROM before we can be sure we gain GPS capability without losing anything else...
Right now Radio appears to be a bit of a tradeoff as opposed to a simple feature addition.
Once an official (as opposed to leaked) radio comes out I think all the REAL problems people are having will go away.

As far as I know nobody here on XDA Dev has actually tweaked a Radio. People put together firmware files from other stuff, and bundle them all together, but to actually fix and recompile a radio file goes much deeper than anyone here handles.
I have had only one problem running dcd 2.10 and 2.20. I have run critically low on memory once. This has never happened before.
But as for the radio and OS, I think my call quality is noticably better than with the stock rom or any of dcd's 1.x rom/radio setups that I have tested.
Oh, just FYI, I'm in Utah. I wonder if the radio issues have to do with a difference in radio hardware on the towers in New Jersey.
After reading for several days and hearing the good the bad and the ugly I opted for the straight leaked rom. No unlocking and all that.
Well so far so good. GPS works, RevA not a real difference so far
Fairly stable. Happy with my beta software until the official release

Yup, me too.
As a matter of fact, I'm not going to go to DCD's 2.2.1 until this current flash (on my phone) bombs. 2.2.0 is working great for me.
For those who claim to have no problems...
Try downloading a file larger than 1 MB in PIE or Opera...
The issue has NOTHING to do with DCD's work...
Definitly the Radio...
There only problems I have seen with the 2.2X Roms DCD has put out is some issues with installing programs on the storage card...
But if I know DCD that will be fixed rather quickly.

I used Duttys NBH tool that Irus has linked on the WM6 page
This rom seems to work well on SPL 1.2 and 3.5
Some Roms wont show the H icon eg michyprimas (see here for solution) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2447327&postcount=3
There is also a guide to errors you might receive in a text file included in the rom, that I got from one of the AP4 installations
** adition October 2008 **
Unfortunately Video call is not playing nicely with this radio
I have had to revert to Radio 1.57 to get it working again
Thanks mate.
Will try this out soon.
So far, I'm only observing the data connection capability, and noted that the H icons stay there all the time, so internet and email connections no longer has a lag. In other word, both internet and email seems faster with this radio.
I hope this behaviour is stable. Let's continue to observe and see how it goes.

Anyone from the US running this radio? is it better than the previous, does it improve battery life/reception/etc?
I would be interested to know if anyone here in the USA has tried this version, On the AT&T network in particular. (I have the 1.57.00 radio currently on US AT&T and it works very well, very rapid Sat Lock on too)

Hi tovarish.
To be sure , I checked the contents of the file and they are the same as in any 1.2 SPL upgrade.
There is also a file walking you through the process and explains any error messages you might get and their solution.
Lenny and Brau, this is the same radio as in taxists latest rom so if any US members have tried it it should work.
I think irus has used it.
Why don't you give it a try and report what you think.

the thing is its not hard to do so, its just that I didn't want to "re-create the wheel", in other words if someone tried it already and it worked or didn't work they could easily relay that info so other's wouldn't have to do it.
I will relay that info so other's in the US won't have to "re-create the wheel": this radio doesn't work in the US. you can try it for yourself, but it didnt' work for me.

wow really, I had no luck with this radio, I'm on AT&T too.
I'll give it a try again.....and I'm feeling I'm gonna have the same result as I had before.....
I recently upgraded from Titan Radio ROM 3.42.30 to Titan Radio ROM 3.42.50 along with DCD 2.3.6.
I noticed my GPS is ALOT more jumpy around buildings when I'm downtown.
Is it possible that an older Radio allows a GPS chip to work better than a newer one? I'm asking because I see alot of people stay with old Radios and I always wonder why.

Not sure. Some say the earlier ones do. You can downgrade anytime. won't hurt any of your other software.
Well, 3.42.50 is ported from a Vogue, so maybe you should try 3.42.40 which is the newest native titan radio.
The radios do not make any difference.... Just find one that "you" perceive to be the best one for you......

I'm not the only one complaining about x.50 and GPS.
I"ve had the same issue with both .40 and .50. From what I remember, .50 skipped so much in some places that it would lose the satellite lock completely for a few seconds to a minute or more when I was using it while in the car. .40 is a little better, it doesn't seem to lose the lock nearly as much, if at all, but it does seem more "jumpy" than .30 was. I am testing .50 again right now to see if anything has changed.
I started with .30 had decent GPS locks, tho it was never under 2 minutes. .50 next, it's GPS was about the same on lock time but did disconnect from time to time, now on .40, still long locks, and in some cases 10+ minutes before it locks, a lot less disconnects.
Why was it we upgraded from .30? Did .40 or .50 offer anything other than slightly better signal? Where I live I can't tell a difference in signal, it just works. Anywhere in my town, even 8 miles out into the county, it just worked.
What would be any downsides with me rolling back to .30? At least it was more consistent on GPS locks.

I don't think there are any *custom* radios. Radio images are very low level and very few developers pose the background/knowledge to correctly reverse engineer and modify.
On the forum, people post "custom" .zip files which contain different versions of official radio.img files.
Personally, I rarely update the radio.img as I generally just don't bother given too many other things to do. Some people notice an increased signal with a newer radio version, some people notice a decreased signal with newer radio versions.
Hope that helps!
Yea, radios can either help you, or make it worse, and most radio updates happen with normal ota releases,
And those normally get thrown into custom roms as the devs release new versions, etc

actually, majority of ROM releases, at least from what i've seen around the XDA dev board do *not* include a radio update in the actual ROM release .zip file. I know cm definitely doesn't and I'm pretty sure myn and xhausx do not.
Generally, in the ROM OP there will be a link to a radio thread where somebody maintains either the actual radio images inside of flashable .zip files or maintains the links to these files.
I have such link in my ROM OP thread pointing to a CDMA radio thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193101
Radios work differently for different people. It usually depends on where you are located. You can try different ones to see which works best for you, but some custom roms will specify the best radio for that rom.
Just thought I'd throw this out there. Flashing a radio is a good way to potentially brick your device. Always be careful and make sure to verify the md5 checksum. Also make sure that the radio is for your device as in cdma or gsm. Flashing a gsm radio to a cdma device will brick your phone and vice versa. There is little to no margin for error when flashing a radio, reading the users feedback may or may not help but I always recommend it.

If your experiencing slow/data speeds, unclear phone calls, sms or text msgs are slow to send and receive or your signal keeps switching from 3g to 1× are some of the signs of a radio that might need to be downgraded or upgraded. Radios work different according to area, cell tower location, distance and also network availability. Also take into consideration that hardware and software also play a role in how effective a radio upgrade or downgrade would be, as in mods or kernel's flashed or changed threw various other methods of modifying ones phone be it done by the rom flashed or the roms user. Its good also to keep in mind that any particular radio will do wonders for some and be a waste of time for others. It just a dangerous gamble. Its the one true time were you are truly putting your device at risk. Don't get me wrong if done properly the procedure can be excuted rather quickly and successfully. However the risk should not be taking lightly. The reason why I post this is Ive seen what a wrong or bad/corrupt radio can do and trust me its nothing you want to experience. So I'd suggest just setting some time aside to read upon how to flash a different radio for your device cdma/gsm and the correct method according to how you unlocked your phone as in team win or htc's unlocked method. As far as is it necessary to always stay up to date with the latest radio well it depends on you and how your current radio is performing for you and as I previously posted its always helpful to read the users feed back on the radio. Hopefully this helps somehow.
