HTC Desire Kernel-Sources..
"This is an overlay file system for the HTC Desire Android OS powered mobile phone, using aufs."
(hxxp://code.google.com)

The bravo later became the htc desire.
The HTC Desire Kernel Source Code at http://developer.htc.com/ is almost the same size (72.7MB vs your file 72.75MB).
Interestingly the Nexus kernel source is out there now, since 6/10

Need help installing android on HTC Mozart

Is it possible to do this?
If so can someone please help me. The main disadvantage i believe is the lack of apps but the interface is great.
Cheers!
Yes, can it be done?
Hi, I am also interested in this. After so many years of HTC I dumped them just because I couldn't find an android device that suited my needs. HTC Mozart seemed so nice, but it lost its appeal when released only on WM7.
Nope, no go. You'd need access to the bootloader and then from there it would still take quite some time. I say either swap it or get used to the awesomeness that is WP7
Why not just go for the likes of the Incredible S or Desire HD - better specs and they run Android out the box.
But if you do want to get Android onto the Mozart, this isn't the section to discuss it in.

Quick glossary
ADB - The Android Debug Bridge. A collection of tools that any rooted Android user should have. ADB allows one to interact with their device from a terminal interface. This enables the user to do a variety of tasks such as sideloading applications and more.
Android - A Linux based operating system created and mostly designed by Google. The major revisions are 1.0, 1.1, 1.5 (Cupcake), 1.6 (Donut), 2.0/2.0.1/2.1 (Eclair), 2.2 (Froyo) 2.3 (Gingerbread), and 3.0 (Honeycomb - tablet only). The majority of Android major revisions are named after desserts.
APK - Android PacKage. These are, basically, Android applications and all of their data. They are run via the Dalvik Virtual Machine on your device.
Bootloader - The part of a computer that loads the operating system. If this is damaged/deleted you are screwed.
Flashing - The act of installing a ROM onto an embedded device or emulator.
Overclocking - Increasing the "clock" of a processor to increase its speed at the expense of battery life and possibly your phone. Not all processors overclock the same, even if the hardware is identical. One phone with a Hummingbird SoC will not be able to overclock to 1.2ghz, yet another would be able to overclock to 2.0ghz (very unlikely).
S-ON/S-OFF - S-ON is a "security" measure put in place by HTC on their newer phones that read locks /system and /recovery. Switching S-ON to S-OFF disables this protection and allows you to replace the stock recovery, and modify /system while the phone is in Android.
Radio/Modem - The parts of a firmware that allow communication between the operating system, the telecommunication hardware, and a mobile network. Some radios give good battery life, some good signal, some neither.
CRT - Also known as "Cathode ray tube" is the "animation" when you turn on and off a T.V. The animation of the line flashing across the screen and then the image appearing/disappearing.
XDA - This site, XDA is a community of likeminded developers, hackers, and users who modify various phones running various operating systems (Windows Mobile, Windows Phone 7, and Android specifically).

I had to delete it b/c it was starting to get complaints because it was too similiar to the HTCSuperToolv2. He did modify a great deal of the script but since it was so simliar it was removed.
If it failed, do it again before post questions
When I first:
* Attemped to unlocked my Amaze: When I paste the unlocked code, HTCDev failed me and told me that my device is unlockable or something like that. I have to copy and paste the code again and it's worked.
* Attempted to root: My device told me the file signature is wrong (or invalid or something in that nature). I have to re-doing it the second time. Especially in this step, my phone kept unzipping the file and copy/update and repeating the unzipping process several times before successfully installed/update the file
* Along the way, when flashing new rom and kernal, sometime the phone told me that the zip file is wrong/invalid or stuff like that. At one point it even told me that it can not find the file. I have to do it the second time ...
* Browsing through the forum I've often encounting many replied from new Amaze owners complaining/asking as why they can not do as instructed, eventhough they did followed the step-by-step guide
To top it off, for some reason, the Amaze (compared with my old HD2 when come to flashing stuff) often gave me that wrong/invalid/fail results and I always had to do the second time to make it work. So, to the OP, Xboarder and other chiefs or anyone who would like to wrote guides like this, I'ld suggest to put a note telling noobies to DO IT AGAIN before gave up and posting questions which may not be a pleasant to others to read/answer/reply/helps ...
Just a though

What ever happened to the open source community that used to be XDA? Nobody seems to care anymore about the overall advancement of things, so sad the direction things are going. I saw some posts in that thread where even xboarder was acting like an ass towards someone that was actually interested in learning things. What happened to the XDA that was all about everyone helping each other to get the most out of our devices?

I agree that this needs to be an open source community but the issues begin when developers feel that they don't receive the appropriate amount of credit for the time and effort that they put into a project. If you spend hours or days making something just so that someone else can simply rename it and pass it off as their own, you would be upset too. What do you think would happen if I took CM9 rom, made some xml edits and renamed it to BinaryMod. Cyanogen and team spent HUNDREDS or THOUSANDS of hours making it and I spent maybe one renaming it. They would be pissed! Would you blame them? Who would want a BinaryMod anyway?
I would try a binarymod, I'm a masochist, er, ummmmm I mean an adventurist.

Even worse I might get CM team after me. They would put a hit out on me. Good think I have confidential plates though!
Even though our device is fairly new, Its been almost three months since it has been out I really do believe we need much more support. I'm trying to help people as much as I can myself...but we need more developers. HTC also needs to make it easier, we need S-off, if warranty is voided why wouldn't they give us S-off?!!! Limited availability of this phone to a few carriers also restricts development... I still love this phone!!!
wouldn't it be great if pershoot started developing for the amaze!!!

Exactly. I suppose the wifi drivers isn't their source so they can't pubish it. That's what I understand of it though.

Is everyone forgetting the AT&T/Telus One X+?

Hi,
So I have been a member of this forum since I had my first HTC phone (the Inspire). Recently (maybe a year or so ago?) I got my HTC One X+ (AT&T) and I was looking forward to custom ROMs since there were numerous problems with them on my Inspire (look at my past posts). I am running Elegancia 5.2.0 which is still based on the 4.1.1 Jellybean. I want to move to a custom ROM with a 4.2.2 base, but the only things I find are international versions of the ROMs. Have developers completely just forgotten the AT&T/ Telus versions of the phone? Why is no one developing ROMs for both versions of the phone anymore? Is there anyone that is working on an updated ROM for the AT&T/ Telus version? I understand that developers are dedicating their time to produce these ROMs, but why has the other version of the phone just become completely forgotten?
Sorry for the rant, but I had to get this off since it has gotten agonizing not being able to run the newest Android OS with a custom ROM since no one produces anything else except international versions. Thanks for reading.
Mindaugas
If on anyone blame it on AT&T. They have not released to us the 4.2.2 update. Devs are always with us and still developing amazing pieces of work... you just have to read to see.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 4
All the problems can pretty much be blamed on the carriers almost exclusively. There are devs who would make a updated rom if they had the source. As for porting international ROMs over, as was common practice for the Inspire 4G and Desire HD, there are apparently hardware issues that come up that devs either can't fix, or just don't want to spend unneeded time trying to get working. (Like LTE)
In short, yell at ATT and/or Google and the manufactures for allowing carriers to hold up updates to fill it with crapware.
Sent from my Nexus 10
Thanks for explaining it to me guys. It just is annoying me to death.
i have also bought a htc one x+ instead htc one x international version (even though both were of same price).. didnt see the development ratio 1st and now i m regretting my purchase...
nothing much to test/play arround only elegancia and venom XL :crying:
Yeah, from what I understand it's got a lot to do with the hardware. Seems very few phones are using the tegras, etc. and as a result very few devs end up with the device...basically, it's just much easier to develop for the more standardized hardware so those are the devices the devs gravitate to. Add on to that very small number of devs that there's no s-off, no 4.2.2 update, etc. and you have your reason.
I was also hoping to have more to play around with on this phone, but unfortunately that seems highly unlikely. As time goes on we'll probably see less development and fewer devs rather than the other way around.

[Q] Kernel Source from HTC ???

Who here is willing to help me out with harassing/asking/begging HTC Dev to upload the source code for the Max kernel? I'm pretty sure everyone here knows that with out that AOSP is just a pipe dream..
Idea #1 After talking to Flyhalf and some thoughts just being tossed around I went ahead and attempted to boot the m7vzw recovery to see where it got me which turned out to be absolutely nowhere lol... Except for a black screen for a few moments and then it rebooted itself back to the bootloader.. It was a nice brief thought of us possibly being able to work with a kernel and code that already existed publicly! But again just another pipe dream...
Idea #2 Was an actual interesting idea considering it doesn't brick the device and render it useless, but after talking to nocoast from liquid/carbon/gummy what have you, as he said this would just be EPIC lol.. He suggested that I attempt at flashing the One Max to a GPE (Google Play Edition for those noobs that don't know what GPE is) and converting it over to a Google Experience device like the OG HTC One users are doing.. It's a fantastic idea but I however won't be the first to attempt this. Also considering we don't have an actual Verizon HTC One Max RUU available as of yet where if the phone wasn't completely shot that I would be able to RUU back to stock. See this would actually be seriously epic but my thoughts on that are if it did flash hypothetically speaking and it booted no problem what happens with RIL? I haven't seen anyone with a Verizon HTC One post anywhere that they were able to do this, correct me if I'm wrong.. There wouldn't be radios available for us considering the GPE devices are all GSM... Not to mention that even if I pulled the radios from a firmware dump and did some zip hacking the frameworks would probably not support it.........
Anyone reading this know of any Verizon HTC One users who successfully flashed their device to GPE and everything is working? If someone can find anyone who truly pulled this off I'll for hell of it give the GPE kitkat RUU a flash to see what happens out of curiosity maybe... I mean if you think of it how dope would it be to have the Google bootloader and get updates from Google and not HTC!!!
This is why I'm saying if you have a few minutes to spare please go to HTC Dev site and shoot them an email asking for kernel source code so we can get the ball rolling on AOSP builds.. I know I'm not the only one who is hurting for some source built ROMs! I've used Flyhalf's work since day one on the original Verizon HTC One and I know how phenomenal his builds were and I'm dying to run them on this! I always used HTC devices with the exception of briefly going to the Galaxy Nexus then Galaxy S3 then quickly to the Note 2, and what I loved about the Note 2 was the screen size! The last 3 devices I listed was all for screen real-estate well the Gnex was for ICS and 1st Verizon Nexus, but the rest screen real-estate! I don't need all that extra bloat garbage Samsung crams down everyones throat with the stylus and s-pen apps and s-voice and blah blah.. I loved it cuz it was BIG! I fell in freaking love with the HTC One but my biggest issue was coming from the Note 2 was stepping back down to a 4.7 inch screen....... Everything else I loved loved loved.. Then the announced the One Max and it was a wrap! This is something I can rock with for a minute tip they release the next super sized HTC phone with more power. HTC really nails it when it comes to build quality. They are just falling short with the carriers rules on being locked down and not releasing source in a timely fashion like some of the other OEMs are..
So lets get together as a community and try and get us some source!!!!! I've already been in touch with them a few times regarding this matter, and they basically just said that they are working on getting it to us............ Come on?????? We know it exists just upload it already!
+1 we need to kick of AOSP builds. I would like to email HTC Dev, however not have done any before. Can i request you to post anything specific that needs to be added to this email? it would help the other users here too.
From what I understand they booted the Sprint One recovery on a (your?) Verizon One Max. Wouldn't that mean the Sprint One kernel could be used (with some modification) with the Verizon radio? Both are cdma so it *may* not be that difficult.
No when beaups and I messed with my Max and he updates his rumrunner to work on the Verizon variant I went ahead and flashed and booted the Sprint One "Max" recovery not the original One recovery..

alright, just contacted htc dev asking them for one max downloadables.
How did you go about contacting them? Was it through the "Tell us what you want" tab on htcdev.com? Keep us informed!!! Hopefully if enough people do this regardless of your carrier since we are looking for common source for the kernel we can expedite the process a little since HTC tends be s l o w with posting their special sauce... Yeah, did it via "Tell us what you want".
Here is the direct link for ppl to find it faster - http://www.htcdev.com/contact
i have known HTC's slow release timings over the kernel source in general and also about their bad attitude, hopefully we get more ppl to demand them. HTC One had got 4.3 update 2 months ago and it was only last week or so that the kernel source was released

I was in contact with them again last night and they responded today and told me that my escalation was received and is in the process of being reviewed and typically takes 7 to 10 business days and at that point would come to a resolution.. I explained to them that I understand Sense and HTC's extra nonsense is proprietary and told them that I don't care about that. What I care about is the kernel source and them following through with GPL compliancy and how not only on the One Max but all HTC devices based on the Linux kernel being modified and redistributed NEEDS to be made open and in good ethics in a timely fashion.... If anyone is really interested in seeing what I wrote I'll post the whole email lol.. It's a lot for me to retype. I gave it to them thorough though. I mean really gave it to them with facts and dates. How they were the originating OEM to release a public Android device and how they initiated the launch of the Open Handset Alliance and how they suck at being "Open"!! It was pretty good I felt!!!

I owned multiple windows/android devices....like htc hd2 / sony eression eperia x 10, htc sensation, samsung note, htc onex, sony experia s, htc one, and finally HTC ONE MAX.
I was in every form ,at least finding a store for all htc RUUs /OTA , or official roms /firmwares for sony and samung.
and always getting help regarding anything i ever needed, except for HTC one max.
There is no clear RUU /OTA store. and personally , I didn't find even the shipped RUU for my device. the international version.
i refresh this forum so often everyday, and all i see , is the same outdated threads .
is it so hard to find ruus for the HTC one max? why it is so difficult?
believe me, i respect you all...
but it is really frustrating to own such great device, and all you can get is minimalistic/outdated mods... couple of custom roms, not more than 5 or 6

ring htc and ask them why we don't see ruu. because it's like getting blood from a stone lol.
because of OTA on the device itself they dont see the need to release public restore ruu. as htc practically never fail updates.
i guess that end of day, they know people **** they're devices trying to hack em. so htc can profit by only them restoring it and trying to prove that tampering caused the fault!
Sorry but at this time I don't believe one has been releashed only ruu is the verizon and sprint ruu.

The problem really goes down to the fact that this device is so amazing yet does not have a good level adaptation and marketing.
Moving from HTC One to a MAX i could understand your frustration, one of the BIG reason why the dev activity was slow here were the unavailability of kernel sources and only recently it was available. you would have seen couple of high quality devs working active here to get AOSP out for the device.
on the context of old threads, we are very close to the 4.4.2 update release which kind of makes the devs wait for the update so that they could work on them instead of 4.3.
It is true that the international MAX does not have an RUU available in public, i don't know much on public distribution of RUU's by HTC. I thought RUU's were only for the service centers to restore the phone.
For the international MAX, there has been only one OTA from the stock shipped ROM. The Stock ROM was 1.19.xxx.x and the OTA upgraded it to 1.54.xxx.x which was only minor, but i do appreciate having an repository and that is the reason why i posted a stock ROM.
As for the ROM's, personally i am happy having stock, hanks to Xposed! Viper has quite an awesome collection of tweaks on the ROM.
If you are interested in mod's you could try the mod's from original HTC One forum and afaik it should work.

Other than this whiny thread exactly how much work have you put in to contributing to this forum so it will have more content?!?!
Wellll...you could trying learning to do it yourself rather than expecting things to be done here for you....The device has limited development/developers... And soon probably will have even less with the new flagship releasing this month....Good luck in your search for more "updated things".

I love my HTC One MAX... And with Venom ROM... Even better! I had the HTC DNA with a lot of ROM choices.. and still used The Venom ROM. So I don't really need 50 ROMs that are basically Vanilla Android variants.
Current Device : HTC One MAX / Retired HTC Devices: DNA, Rezound, Thunderbolt, Incredible, Eris
I love when people always say lack of development and want 50 copies of the same ROM... Then complain they all look the same. Rule 1 if you aren't going to be happy running the phone completely stock then don't buy it. You don't get a check from work expecting extra mystery money..... Lazy people these days...
